I received this confirmation from Tower 23. As you can see in the photo, my reservation is May 24-28. However the room breakdown underneath is for May 23-27. Clearly a Friday night is more expensive than a Tuesday night. I reached out to the hotel reservations email. They said their system had a glitch. I was still having trouble understanding why I am being charged a Friday night rate as opposed to a Tuesday night rate. Angelica (I think that was her name) called me and was annoyed from the start. When I was still not understanding her explanation, she became outwardly annoyed. I asked her why she was getting frustrated with me when I was just trying to understand a discrepancy sent from the hotel. At that point she put me on hold to get a manager. I never asked for a manager, and was happy to work with her. After being on hold for a few minutes, she came back on the phone and asked if I received the room break down she sent me. I had not, I received a reservation confirmation, but it only provided a nightly average, not the daily room breakdown. I did eventually receive the room breakdown, but I am still not understanding why I received the original confirmation. Angelica asked me if I was satisfied at that point, and I said since she wanted me to speak to a manger I felt I should. She then said her manager was not available and her supervisor would be there in 10 mins. (The manager she wanted me to speak to.) At that point I asked the managers name and to please have the manager call me back. I look forward to speaking with Elizabeth. In this economic time when we have the choice where we spend our money, it was veery off-putting to receive the service from Angelic based on the error of the hotel's reservation system (again see photo). If this is any indication of what my stay at Tower 23 will be like, I would like a full refund and I will gladly book a hotel that will welcome my patronage. Elizabeth, I look forward to hearing from you.

We got a recommendation from a local couple that ride there bikes in the area We ordered the Caesar salad and a yellow tail fish taco The Caesar salad was delicious a little over powering with the anchovies but other wise very yummy The taco was not to my liking it has a sweet flavor that was thrown me off and the fish was over cooked they took to long to bring us our food The server was great We appreciate the recommendation but wish we tried another spot for our last seafood meal before heading back to vegas ...... ooooo well sometimes you win sometime you loose lol

We stayed here for the first time and it was such a wonderful and relaxing getaway. The staff was attentive and very accommodating. The hotel is impeccable and it was the first time in a while I didn't feel the need to Lysol everything down. We stayed in a suite with a partial view and I highly recommend it-better yet go with the full view! It was so nice soaking in the tub while listening to the ocean waves. The room was a generous size and came with two bath robes. We also ordered room service from the restaurant below. It was pricey but had some good bites. There are also plenty of places within walking distance. My only critique is the jets in the tub had some build up in them so some residue was floating around in the bath. Just make sure to run the jets before filling up the tube.

This hotel is fantastic. We stayed there two nights ago in a full ocean view Sweet Suite. The two balconies we had were gorgeous biews The bed with the massage and raising foot and head was super comfy. But the best thing of all was the jacuzzi tub. The water to fill the tub comes from the ceiling. Really fun. The staff, I don't have all of their names, but Jessica from my first call helped with everything I needed. Brought us a lovely welcome spa items gift. They were ALL fantastic. Our breakfast on the 2nd floor deck was delicious . The waiter we had - Robby - was THE best - kind and thoughtful. We loved our stay and will recommend and definitely return.

Spent three nights here I knew it would be the best bet for visiting San Diego They were was a surprise hold on 500$ for the rooms I would stay here again because of location and cleanliness It's right on pacific beach steps away from the beach on ocean Perfect for a first time to San Diego

I've had basically their whole menu of appetizers. All of them are very good. I recommend this place for a quick cocktail and a quick bite. Not really a place to get a meal, although that is definitely on the menu. Reason for subtracting a star is their service is sometimes slow, especially at the bar. No urgency at all. No acknowledgement of guests until it's convenient for them. Not even a "hi, I'll be with you in a moment." But other than that, can't beat the setting, view, and great for apps. I recommend their calamari. One of my fav calamari dishes in San Diego.

Well we were fairly excited to try out this gorgeous location in San Diego. Mediocre food at best. Yours paying for the vibe and the location. Not impressed at all with the menu nor our choices. Food looks great but bland bland bland...MJ Needs to find himself a better chef.

This was our second time here. Last time was a perfectly served brunch and today's lunch did not disappoint. The spot is beautiful and the service is exactly what every restaurant goer wants- Lots of refills on iced tea and water, polite, and no mistakes in our orders. We had the short rib tacos, the ceviche, and the Jordan salad. Everything was lovely. The tacos are messy but worth it. Eat outside and people watch while enjoying the ocean and the delicious food.

This place was absolutely amazing. We had an ocean view room on the 3rd floor and the view was phenomenal. Our room was impeccable. We witnessed the cleaning and sanitizing procedures first hand an I can tell you they do not miss a beat. Everyone of the staff members we encountered went above and beyond and were so nice. Our server, Robby was the best we've ever had anywhere and food was delicious. We will never stay anywhere else again.

Great view. Great service. Food was amazing. Great place to come on a Sunday night. Wasn't over crowded. Customer service was on point. We got a visit from the manager checking to see if everything was good and if we needed anything. Next time I'll sit at the bar where most of the action was happening.

Love this place for happy hour and sunset! Also great for brunch w friends or even a date. I love their salad with this delish peanut dressing, and their entire sushi menu! It's not the cheapest spot in PB but worth the $.

Tower 23 is an awesome place! We keep coming back for the hummus plate. That garlic and cilantro naan is to die for. Danny was a great server and made everything easy. Great place to people watch with the boardwalk right there. We went during Covid and we have been three times for the past 3 weeks.

I am so happy I found this place via AARP! Located in the heart of the Gaslamp District, I had never heard of this hotel prior to searching. Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! One small recommendation for the hotel: provide rooms with a small microwave and mini fridge to reheat leftovers. It all worked out as I gave a homeless guy mine.

It may not be the most updated hotel on the boardwalk, but it has everything you need. The staff is always welcoming, the house keeping staff are friendly and trustworthy, the parking lot is gated and secured by a guard throughout the day, the rooms are always clean the grounds are well maintained, and after all the years of being loyal visitors, we have yet to experience anything negative at this property. I love that the grounds are secure and you can allow your children to go into the courtyard area and play the provided games with peace of mind- knowing that they'll be safe. They provide tons of outdoor seating options and grills for tenants, which makes cooking a breeze. In order to enter from the beach/boardwalk, you must have a room key to enter the premises- another awesome perk. This keeps all the riff-raft out of the area. &At night, they also require a room key to enter through the front of the building- which is a newer feature, and much appreciated. You can leave your beach toys & chairs outside your room without worrying about someone coming to steal it. We have locked our bikes up downstairs in the courtyard area & nobody messes with them. This is such a great place to stay & an amazing tradition that our family has. We look forward to our visit every May!

Location wise, it is in the heart of downtown. Everything is within walking distance. Immediately outside of the hotel, you can get to the Star of India as well as USS Midway museum. Both are must visit places if you are in downtown SD. Little Italy is also just about a 10-minute walk. It is a great place to visit the farmer's market in the morning and explore the food scene at night. Balboa Park and the SD Zoo are also very close and easily within driving distance. In terms of the hotel itself, we had the fortune of being upgraded for free AND given a free late check-out as well. They do have a balcony with a bar and plenty of seating. The balcony has a killer view. I got quite a bit of work done there every morning and it is a great way to start the day. The room itself is spacious and can fit 3-4 people since the couch can be a pullout. That being said, the couch wasn't that comfortable, but I survived without breaking my back. However, it did take me the first night to get used to. The view from the room is a killer and it's hard to get tired of it. All of their rooms face the ocean, so don't worry when you book, you will get a killer view regardless. Breakfast is complimentary, but their breakfast is very average. It is very hectic in the morning and the food is not the best, but it is included in the hotel. If you get tired of the breakfast here, again Little Italy is within walking distance with much better food options in the morning. They also have a tiny gym. It's got a treadmill and dumbbells. They don't have everything, but the equipment was sufficient for what I needed. Parking here can be quite expensive. I believe it was around $35 or $45 per day. But again, the convenient location of this hotel is hard to beat, so I think the parking price is worth it especially since parking is expensive everywhere in downtown SD and also hard to find. Overall, we had a great stay here. I do wish the breakfast was better for the price we are paying per night at the hotel and I wish their pullout couch was a bit more comfy. However everything being considered, I do highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting downtown SD. The location is just way too convenient.

There's also a couple minimarts and food spots including Starbucks located right outside the hotel. The rooftop pool is so amazing. It's away from all the noise and traffic of downtown San Diego and has a partial view of the bay as well. The harbor and sky restaurant was so convenient for us. We were able to dine in for lunch many times and we truly enjoyed the food and service here! Service here was just beyond amazing and the self parking was extremely convenient and considerably cheaper than most places ($45 per night). Overall, I would definitely recommend this stay!

The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, and ours offered a wonderful view of the bay and even the ocean beyond, with a clear view of Point Loma. Down below was Roy's Restaurant and the pool area. While our bay view king room did not have a balcony, the window did have the ability to slightly open if we wanted to hear the sounds or get some fresh air. With the window closed, the room was very quiet, so we had no noise issues. We also didn't hear noise from any neighbors, with the exception of the occasional person talking the hall or letting a room door close. Though the beds were not the most comfortable we've ever had, they were comfortable enough for both of us, though the pillows weren't my favorite because they were the kind of feather pillows you need to bunch up so they aren't too thin. They aren't very soft or spongy. Nonetheless, I was able to sleep on them sufficiently well. We can be a little picky about beds and getting good sleep, and we slept fine. Unfortunately, like many hotels, the sink, toilet, and shower/tub are all in one room, making it less convenient for two people to be doing things at the same time, especially since there is only one sink. There was a decent amount of lighting and space for toiletry items. We had no major complaints about the room, but we did have a broken toilet paper fixture in the bathroom on the wall next to the toilet that resulted in the toilet paper falling on the floor several times. Service was super friendly, but it was difficult to reach the front desk at times without a very long wait on the phone. When I called down to request a luggage rack for the room, I was told someone would bring one up, but it never came. I had to walk to the front desk to ask for one, which was later delivered. They do have an automated attendant that lets you request a limited number of items, and I was able to request a robe for my wife that way. While we were there, the elevators were a problem for a lot of people. For part of the time we were there, some in our tower were not working, causing relatively long waits for the remaining elevators and sometimes multiple stops on the way down or up at peak use times. The hotel said they were working on it, and things did seem to improve a little by the time we checked out. The property itself is beautiful and laid out well for its limited space in this part of town. Once inside, and even outside when walking the grounds near the pool, you are in a bit of a protected oasis that doesn't make you feel like you are sandwiched between the bay and the street out front. We ate outside every day with the conference, and the area we were in was super pleasant. There are a number of restaurants on property, but since we were usually eating with the conference, we didn't have time to try any except for the Marketplace. It was very expensive for most items, but the quality was really good, and we never had much of a wait. They serve Starbucks coffee here, but you can probably save a bit of money if you get that (or mobile order) from the on-site Starbucks, which is in a different part of the building. The food served at the conference was of good quality. If you go to many conferences, you'll find it to be competitive with any of the better resorts, though, in my opinion and as one might expect, it doesn't outshine the Ritz-Carlton or certain J.W. Marriott facilities. The food service staff for the conference were excellent, helpful, and fast. The hotel is in a very convenient area downtown on the bay next to the San Diego Convention Center. Traffic in the short distance between here and the freeway can be bad depending on time of day or events happening at either the convention center, downtown, or at Petco Park, where the Padres play, but the distance is short enough for it not to be much of a headache in most cases. I doubt you'll find very many cities with access this easy from the hotel to the airport and all of the local attractions, including, in this case, the Gaslamp District, Little Italy, Coronado, the bayside attractions, Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, and more. Hotel parking is expensive, of course, so if you don't really need a car, I highly recommend using Uber or Lyft or walking to get around to the nearest things. Overall, I would certainly stay here again, and I do highly recommend this hotel if you are attending a conference or vacationing in this part of the city and can afford the price point.

This hotel was super conveniently located right on the boardwalk in Pacific Beach, it was perfect…read morefor me. I paid an arm and a leg for the room but it was absolutely massive and I had sliding glass doors directly onto my own private patio which was right next to the pool overlooking the ocean, it was really incredible despite how outdated the room felt, somehow the size of the room made it more modern and it felt clean. The people at the front desk were young, fun, outgoing, really friendly and I appreciated that. They told me about some happy hour they were having later in the day and I felt very welcome here unlike other hotels I stayed at in the San Diego area. The bathroom was huge in my room, very weird vibe, like felt cabin-like, I don't know how else to explain it, but it was spacious, big countertop by the sink plenty of room to get ready. The coffee bar had an enormous countertop which was great for keeping all of my things, huge mirrors everywhere too. The bed was really comfortable, again great view outside, awesome staff. It was so nice to be able to walk the boardwalk and pop back in here whenever I needed to grab something or use the restroom. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend, I would definitely stay here again. But I probably won't because the cost is INSANE. Sorry but it is. Also housekeeping found my jewelry box loaded with jewelry and returned it to the front desk who subsequently shipped it back to my house for me. For a charge of course but I do appreciate the honesty of the staff that goes a long long way! Thank you!!

Three cheers for Sandra and for the Del!…read more Service has gone downhill since Hilton acquired it. But we love this location so much we suck it up now and then to have a little staycation in this magical place. At check in time there was a huge line: the computers had broken! We left our luggage and got a snack at ENO Market. And luckily by the time we finished, the line had cleared and they had brought over extra folks to work reception. We were lucky to get Sandra who normally works at the more upscale Shore House on property. She was very apologetic about the line and also saw that we have stayed here at several times. My sweetie is Hilton Gold and they were initially going to upgrade us from our basic The Views room to a "Victorian room with a view". No thank you! Del veterans know that the historic hotel rooms are small and with no privacy, because of the courtyard. So Sandra looked again and managed to get us a beautiful upgrade to the ocean view room in The Views, which was amazing. And when we woke up, we had a note under the door saying we also had complimentary buffet breakfast at the veranda because we have an American Express Hilton card... and we also got $100 off our meal the night before at Serea! So in short an amazing stay that was an incredible value for the Del. Sometimes we stay somewhere else "cheaper" in Coronado and then come out and hang here. But this was a super deal. The credit card is absolutely worth getting if you like the Del! (last pro tip: service at the hotel can be spotty and the food very expensive if you don't have a credit. ENO market and pizzeria is the best value on property. But if you get Brett as your server at Serea, and sit outside, you are still sure to have a magical time!)

First, the good: The property has been nicely upgraded since I last stayed here in 1978…read more Now the rest. We checked in at 5pm. Thankfully the line was not long but the process takes a while so you can still wait 10 minutes even if you are first in line. The clerk was very nice but I could sense she was going to shaft us and sure enough we ended up in a tiny room that was down a long corridor with a view of nothing but rooftops. Probably one of the worst rooms in the hotel and maybe used to house the maids but now sold as a regular room to maximize revenue. So naturally we marched back to the front desk and thankfully found another clerk who could not have been more wonderful. Shocker, she was unable to find anything else that night (800 rooms, 5pm checkin, nada) but was able to convince the manager to let us upgrade the following day to a higher category room for $75/night (regularly $225). Of course this means packing up after one night and checking into a new room but we decided to do it because the first room was so mediocre. The next morning we stopped at the front desk at noon and were surprised and delighted to find the new room ready. It was like night and day - about 2x-3x larger with an elevated sitting area, a couch, and a sea view even though it was not ocean front. Well worth the upgrade fee though kind of sad that you have to pay extra just to get yourself removed from the worst ROH. Not that everything was perfect - the following morning we were awakened to children running wild in the room above ours (apparently a special turret room or something) - it was so bad that I had to knock on the door and was greeted by a displeased parent who apologized and said they were checking out. Bueno. Don't come to this hotel enjoy the water. The ocean is polluted by sewage from TJ and not recommended for bathing. The next day we arrived at the pool only to find it was closed for the day after a child had exploding diarrhea. So much for that. Someone asked management if they could use the special spa pool reserved for mucky mucks but was told that was off limits. On the plus side beach drink service was excellent, but $8 for a diet coke plus a mandatory service charge seems excessive. Similarly I think it was $25 for a cookie and a couple of soft drinks at the lobby snack shop. I was tempted to buy a yogurt parfait but I could not justify it as the cups were only half filled. It is one thing to gouge customers, quite another to cheapen the product. For those who want to save $$ there is a chipotle across the street from the property where you can get large soft drinks (and return for free refills, as the cashier explained) for $3. If you plan to spend all your time at the resort, save yourself the parking gouge by taking a $31 rideshare to/ from the airport. Overall I can say that the staff was very nice, the bar area is fun and the food served at the hotel restaurants is excellent. However I do not plan to return as there are so many properties in San Diego that have nicer rooms, nicer pools and nicer beaches for a fraction of the price.
