This is a small town family owned burger joint. The place originally opened in King City and moved to Greenfield a while back to a newer more modern building. Owner operates a couple other businesses in the area, is a really nice guy and knows how to treat his customers. As you drive by the place it does seem a little small.. you walk in and there is about a half dozen tables and a small bar seating area. Not much in there though just an areal map of the town and a led tv on the wall. Burgers are good maybe more of a home made type burger than a restaurant burger. The menu is limited with about 8 burgers to choose from and some sides like wings and onion rings (which are a must when I stop by, they're always big, fresh and crispy). Today I looked at the back side of the menu (only one page) and noticed they also make tortas which I'll try next time. So if you're craving a non-chain burger and you're travelling down 101 in south Monterey county its only about half a mile north of the 293 exit. read more

The burgers here are amazing! I haven't had one in a very long time. I do not live in Greenfield so I always have to drive there. Today I was disappointed. I placed my order through the phone, asked the young lady to add mushrooms to my burger and if she could give me any banana peppers or any other kind of spices on the side. Great. I get there I get my order. She asked me if I wanted anything else I asked her Is "everything in the bag that I ordered" she replies with "yes" I peeked at the top of the bag and I was sure everything would be in there sine she said.... The burgers and chili cheese fries we ordered were great. But the chili cheese fries would have been enjoyable with ranch. I asked the waitress if they had any and she said no and she walked away. She didn't even go check. So I took her word for it. When we were done eating, we decided to try the deep fried mushrooms. I placed an order and the dip that came with it was ranch! She was the one who pulled the ranch out to serve with the mushrooms. I mentioned it to her and I asked if she said no earlier because she didn't want to go get it? She said "it slipped my mind and I forgot we had ranch." Food is great but poor customer service. read more

This place is always closed? They don't have set hours. They need to post their correct hours that the operate. Not fair for customer that go and it's closed! Don't show up at 11am or 12 never open. Town Burger is a prime example of what a hidden gem is when it comes to discovering a great restaurant. Truth be told, I wished I had a camera crew following me and an hour-long block on a travel show where I could exalt my adulation in front of a national audience. But, suffice to say, a review on Yelp is all that I can do to rain kudos upon this treasure of a restaurant. And after yet another visit over this past weekend, I can honestly say that Town Burger's Chipotle Burger is the best burger in the Monterey County. I would, hands-down, eat here over In-N-Out any day of the week. The burger patties are not only seasoned with such delicate flavoring so as to be a meal in itself, but they are also cooked to perfection. The thin patty is cooked on a flat-top so as to keep the flavor and juices in the meat. Next, the bun. Then the lettuce. Then the tomato. Then the pickles. And then the cheese. And oh my goodness, the cheese is truly that which holds it all together much like the conductor of an orchestra. Altogether, this symphony of flavors reach a truly mouth-water crescendo that will, at the end, leave you planning your next visit, as is always the case for me. More often than not, I find that the beloved hamburger is the neglected step-child of a restaurant's menu. There is no genuine love, nor sincere passion that exudes from the all too over-looked fare. When you order a burger at places where they think they know a burger, you get a flavorless patty with the expected accouterments slapped on top of a bun. I'm sorry, but an over-sized patty isn't what makes a delicious burger. Those monstrosities that you can hardly take a bite of, are poor examples of a hamburger. What they lack in flavor, they make up for in a grandiose display of mediocrity that leaves your palate unsatisfied and your wallet lighter. But not here. Here, the burger is treated with respect. The burger is esteemed and loved. There are no fancy displays. Aesthetics are not prioritized so as to deceive the uninitiated and uninformed. Here, true flavor is honored and bestowed upon those searching the barren desert for the oasis of what is simply, an absolutely delicious hamburger at what is a more-than-reasonable price point. Local restaurants like Town Burger are what I think truly enhance the "food scene". Their food and their staff are genuine and real. The stellar reviews you see next to mine are a testament to that authenticity. I absolutely adore this establishment and encourage any and all that are willing to go and give their food a shot. I reckon you, too, will be singing songs of praise and won't (hopefully) think I'm too crazy for writing this review and understand why I did. read more

This was a pleasant surprise. We've been hearing a lot about this place of decided to give it a whirl. We ordered the or take a Burger at the ABC Burger onion ring said fries and I have to say it did not disappoint. Very flavorful and fresh. Next time we will have another Patty but if you don't have a bigger appetite stick with the one Patty. The customer service was excellent and the place is extremely clean. Took my normal drive down from SF on Friday and decided to stop mid-way for lunch in the sleepy town of Gonzales. One of my friends from Morro Bay told me about this little family business and a must stop. I called in my order and was first met by Luis the owner and the young lady flipping burgers. Super friendly people and very clean business. Within 10 minutes, I was enjoying a yummy cheeseburger, tasty fries with their secret sauce recommended and lemonade to go. This family business is off the 101 fwy for about 5 blocks but well worth the stop. Really enjoyed the food on the drive home and I'll be back in a few weeks when heading to SF. One last thing, next time I need to try a few of there secret menu items not listed that others were talking about. That was the best burger that I've had in a long time. Perfectly done and the perfect size. My husband says the same about the cheese burger. And the onion rings are hand-dipped and arrive at your table almost too hot to eat. I ate my half of the rings which is unusual for me. We took a chocolate smoothly to go, for desert, and my husband rated it as excellent. The service here is courteous, friendly, and quick. If you're traveling 101, this is a perfect place for an inexpensive, fast bite. read more

This is in my opinion the best burger, and the only fresh made burgers in the entire Monterey County. The patty are cooked fresh on the grill and are not frozen rubber meat like at almost every other place around here. The restaurant is always in immaculate, clean condition when I eat there. Driving down 101 it was time for dinner and we felt like burgers. Rather than going to a big chain I checked Yelp and this little burger restaurant had good reviews, so we gave it a try: food tasty, restaurant and bathrooms clean, close to the 101 - just a couple of blocks away. We enjoyed having a quick sit-down dinner without slowing us down much. Only slight issue was after I ordered, I recalled one of the reviews mentioned the curly fries so I tried to substitute. There was some mis-communication so we got extra order of curly fries, rather than a substitution. On a recent trip from the Bay Area to SLO, we stopped here after recommendations on Yelp. I've traveled this route many times and know well the wasteland of fast food restaurants so was excited to try Town Burger. We arrived just before lunch on a Friday so it was nice and quiet. One person ahead of us so we grabbed a table and ordered. The food came in a reasonable amount of time. We all ordered cheeseburgers~ hubby and kids got fries, I ordered the onion rings others raved about. The burgers were just okay. My husband loved the bun but I thought it was average. We all commented that our burgers were a little dry. Burger patties reminded me of a frozen patty. The onion rings looked beautiful but didn't taste like much. The batter was crispy, not greasy but the onions were in huge chunks and a bit under cooked. Again, not much flavor. The kids said their soda tasted like plastic. I had water. The restaurant itself was clean though I didn't look into the kitchen. I did use the restroom which had the oldest, must scrubbed toilet seat I've ever seen. I suppose at least it means it was clean? The waiter didn't seem to speak much English. He got our order correct but when I mentioned I'd stopped in after seeing Yelp reviews he looked at me with a blank expression. I dunno, maybe his English is fine but he doesn't know what Yelp is. All in all, meh. $36 for lunch seemed a bit much for basically fast food. I will NOT be returning to this spot. read more
