All of whom have been professional, friendly and exceptionally skilled and talented. I usually ask how long have they been employed with Town Hair Salon. The owner is domineering & rude. Years ago, I used to go to Town Hair Salon pretty often but the last time I got my eyebrows done there, the technician burned me. I have only gone there when I had no other choice and only for haircuts, ever since. Today, they were apparently overbooked, but fit me in for a leg wax anyway. The girl took a long time, but did a good job. I chalked it up to experience. But then the owner was rude & wanted to triple bill me for my leg wax. When I asked her about the price, she said it took 3 hours & she was billing for time & extra supplies. This was utterly bananas because I had gotten a shampoo, hair cut & blow dry After the wax & it was All completed in 2.5 hours. The haircut was good, but I won't be going back again for any reason. Go literally anywhere else to get your hair cut. I just got back from a hair cut and my hair is absolutely trash. I was given bangs when I did NOT ask for them. Also, they are not even! One side is shorter than the other. On top of that, there pieces in front are also UNEVEN. This is the worst haircut I've ever had. The woman I normally go to was unavailable and I was given to another woman. To top it all off, the woman at the front desk had her mask HANGING off her face. There's both good and bad points to my visit. Good: - Staff was nice, friendly and willing answer lots of questions - The hair cut (just the cut) overall wasn't bad Bad: - Super busy, they accepted more clients they can handle it seems, so half the time we were waiting for her to get back to us after handling another client. Spent 3ish hours there. - Extremely pricey (165 overall) to get a color that was no where close to what I wanted. Overall, the haircut wasn't terrible but not what I wanted. On Saturday, October 10, 2020 my daughter was very excited for her hair appointment with Alex. When she arrived she was told that Alex couldn't do her hair and had another stylist instead. Although she was disappointed she was okay with it because she really wanted her hair cut and now lives 1 1/2 hours away but was visiting this weekend. The overall length was cut shorter than she wanted but she can live with that. She asked to have her hair cut to frame her face and was given curtain bangs instead and did not have a chance to say anything before she realized what was happening. She doesn't wear her hair parted in the middle and now with these bangs will have to. When she got to the car she was very upset but we decided to look at it when we got home. That is when she broke down, not only are they bangs but they are visibly uneven. This is not the haircut she was expecting to get for $45. She is a senior in college who will be graduating in December and was planning on having pictures taken for her graduation in 2 weeks. She does not want to talk bad about her stylist. I asked if she wanted to go back to have it fixed and she doesn't because she doesn't want her hair cut any shorter. What should have been a fun visit home now had an underlying sad feeling, which took away from our day together. She is going to school fulltime and working part-time so a haircut at Town Hair Salon is an expense that she plans for. Another question is why was she able to book with Alex even though Alex couldn't do her hair? A good business starts at the top; the customer is always right. Both statements are the basis of a good or great establishment. The stylists I've had the pleasure of knowing at Town are not to blame for my family and me not returning to Town Hair Salon. My daughter recently had a keratin treatment there which was ~$250 and it didn't take. We called to ask for a refund and the owner was short, non-apologetic and refused the refund. We have dark hair and they did the highlights very light even when we asked for dark brown. They do not want to get out of the house because the hair is so bad. Went for the first time and will not return. I was scheduled with Daniella but when I got there, they handed me off to a young lady. The young lady was very nice, but the haircut was horrible. I asked for just a trim and not to take much off. I had about a two inch length all the way around my head. Well, she used a #2 guard on the sides and the trim job was a hack job. She trimmed far into the natural hair line and each side of my head was not trimmed the same. I'm not usually one to complain since in two weeks it will grow back, but these are basics and for $22, I expect a better result. read more

Let me start this by saying that the haircut I got here was just fine, and my hair looks good, there was no problem with the cut. The EXPERIENCE here is AWFUL. The front desk ladies were short with me and borderline rude. The girl who washed my hair scrubbed my scalp with her knuckles with such violence and haste- I felt completely rushed and more like another annoying task on her list than an individual. The hairstylist looked less than thrilled to have a customer. She was friendly but not over talkative, which was great. I like that. She did exactly what I asked. Which is about the bare minimum. When she asked if if I put anything in my hair and I said not usually, I just let it air-dry, she raised her eyebrows and said, "ookay." Again, I felt like a task and not an individual. This place is a glorified great clips, except even at great clips, they blow dry your hair or at least OFFER it. When I walked in and asked for a cut, no one even told me the option of a blowout and style- that is what I love about going to the salon!! Having someone else do my hair for once and make it look great. I want to SEE what my haircut looks like. Ok, I get it, I asked for a cut.. But I didn't even get asked if I wanted it blown out... Every other salon I called today at least OFFERED when I called to inquire. If you don't care about the EXPERIENCE of going to a salon and feeling like individual and you just want a cheap cut, this is the place for you. read more

Made an appointment to get my daughter's hair done for homecoming. After waiting 30 minutes I was told it would be another 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, the man working the counter came to me and said "I know it's been 5 minutes but it's going to be longer I need you to please be patient." Mind you I never complained. I waited for another 30 minutes (total of an hour+) and was told that they had scheduled my daughter with someone who wasn't on the work schedule for that day. They never tried to fit us in with anyone else and they didn't apologize except to say, "sorry you're leaving." They let us sit there for an hour knowing full well they could not accommodate us. Had a terrible experience with this salon and its owners. I came in and asked for simple blonde hi lights and blonde ombré at the bottom. The stylist Lisa Broccoli over processed my hair and they even had a girl who has not qualifications as a stylist, not even a student putting color on my hair unsupervised. Lindsay?? She was super distracted by anger customer and left me to process for 2.5 hours! My hair came out horribly over processed and dry, not to mention tiger striped. And not ombré!! When I asked for a refund or even just my next hair color for free....they refused. I am leaving for vacation the next day and they offered to have someone quickly throw some color on it while my kid sits and waits, but didn't have time to really work on it properly. The lady at the front desk, who I believe is the owner, was very very rude. She went back to my stylist and said "there is a little girl who wants her makeup done". I am 25 years old and I went there to get my makeup done for my engagement photos. She also make a snarky comment about my mother in law's hair style to her face. My stylist was wonderful and did a great job! However, the lady at the front desk really set a negative tone for the whole operation. On the plus side you waited outside until your stylist was ready and someone took your temperature when you entered. Unfortunately the stations were not 6 feet apart. Worst hair cut I've ever had in my life. The stylist completely dismissed me when I told her how I wanted my hair cut. She went at it like shearing a sheep, removed almost all of my hair. At one point I grabbed my hair to check how much is left and she said is something wrong!?! Started going to Town over 18 years ago when I lived in Middletown. Amy P is my stylist and is wonderful. I have since moved to Millsboro and still go to Amy at Town. She is an artist with hair and truly a perfectionist. She takes the time to do everything just right. The salon is first class, top notch. All of the people that work there are friendly and fun. They are all on top of the current trends, techniques, and styles. Carol, the owner, is wonderful and bends over backwards to accommodate the customers. It is worth the hour and a half drive to be treated like a king and get what I am paying for. Love you Town! Update: Went to Town yesterday 6/19/20, things couldn't have been more professional and safe. Plastic barriers up between all stations and all workers wearing masks. I've been going here for about 15 years now after a bad cut from a chain store. I've gone to many different stylists but have gone to Shelly most often over the years and she's done a phenomenal job on all different cuts for me, everything from alternative to classic styles. This past visit I saw Sydney and she was also amazing cutting and styling my hair. Absolutely love how personable, kind, and talented both these stylists have been and highly recommend them both, they are the reason I come back year after year and always put forth the effort to make sure I'm happy with the finished product. Lets just say i walked out in tears and have never been treated so rudely as i was there. 5 1/2 hours in a chair and didn't even come close to getting what i asked for. The hair dressers name was Donna and she did nothing but blame and make excuses. I caught her looking at her watch like it was annoying her how long it was taking. She had to fix spots in my hair twice and it still looks bad. I called and talked to an owner and all she kept saying is come back we will do it again. She just made excuses also. Awesome place to get a haircut! It has taken me FOREVER (literally, because even Jersey never got it right) to find a place that had me leaving completely satisfied with my hair.
