This morning was my annual cleaning and I was so excited I show up hour early, had no other plans for the morning so just waited around which worked out as I got in 30min early, the staff is always friendly and nice to visit with, ( we've been with Dr Baker for a long time) had some X-rays done then on to the cleaning. My first thoughts about Town Square Dental was the office appearance, very professional and pleasant atmosphere. Each office associate I met was very pleasant when outlining the details of my needed procedure. Dr. Baker was very open and pleasant. I asked this office if they were in network with my insurance, and they were not. I went in got a cleaning the hygienist said the fluoride he put on my teeth would be 15 dollars and no it was 40. They said I had three cavities at the time of an appointment and quoted me 1,300 dollars and I would have to pay over 500 out of pocket. Said they would call me after they ran my insurance and never did. Then when I called suddenly I have four cavities. I took my x ray to another location and they said I had no cavities that my back teeth just had fillings come out and this new office fixed my teeth for a total of 300 and after my insurance covered their portion I only paid $150. Don't go here it could literally be the difference of 1,000 dollars! read more

I am fairly new to the area, and was hoping to find a good local dentist. Dr Baker and the ladies that helped take care of me were wonderful! I get so much anxiety when having to get teeth work done, but they were all so kind and gentle. Made my experience much better. I was having pretty bad tooth pain from a root canal that I needed to have redone and they were able to get me in super last minute. I'll start with, I loved my dentist (La Mesa Dental) in San Diego so much so that i drove back and forth my first three years here in AZ just so I didn't have to find a new dentist. I know ridiculous. I finally decided to look closer to home and after being super uncomfortable walking into some offices, I found Dr Baker's office. I walk in... it has a clean, open and comfortable reception area. Freshly painted, modern living room feel...not stiff and scary or cluttered with magazines. Office staff greeted me, they were knowledgeable and friendly. First thing I see as I sat down was an old dentist chair (very cool) and two stand up boards of Dr Baker--full body... I thought...well...he's either really stuck on himself or has an excellent sense of humor (it is the latter, thank goodness!). I met with the hygienist (Curtis) who did the standard X-rays, gum assessment (both painless and very efficient, I will add) and then he cleaned my teeth--EXCELLENT cleaning. Wow. I later learned he's been at this 20 years, 10 of which with Dr Baker. Anyhoo, afterwards met with Dr Baker and he assessed what work needed to be done... he was gentle, to the point and didn't talk AT but TO me...and also not while poking and prodding me with dental implements. We had a nice chat afterwards. He's local to AZ. Grew up in Snowflake, UofA grad... afterwards, I spoke with their billing person who drives an hour each way to work for him...that's dedication. The biller had only planned to only fill in for the previous biller who retired but is now with him permanently. She prepped me with what my insurance may/may not cover so that I could plan ahead... my next appointment is coming up, as well as my next cleaning. I'm looking forward to my next dental visits... and I won't have to drive to San Diego for them. side note: I love that his staff likes their work (it shows) and they've been with him for some time...to me that indicates not only is he a good dentist, but also a good employer/person to warrant such a dedicated staff. read more

My husband and I recently switched dentists and we are so glad we ended up at Town Square Dental! The entire staff is so friendly and makes you feel like you have been coming there for years! Curtis is amazing and took the time to explain to us the long term benefits of Invisalign. He really cares about his patients and our teeth have never been cleaner. I've been searching for a good dentist for a long time and I'm finally able to say I found one! From start to finish the staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Curtis did a cleaning that was SO efficient I couldn't help but see the tremendous difference in my teeth when he was finished. He took his time and didn't rush even though I heard the office ordering lunch when we weren't even close to finished. He gave me so much great advice and recommended a routine that will allow me to keep my teeth healthy long term. If I am going to rate them on anything it will be the ladies at the front desk and the lady who did my Xray. Why? Well because I want to take the time to point out that they I could feel that they were sincerely concerned with regards to the amount of pain I was in, and I could tell they felt genuinely sad for me when I was turned away because I was on a DMO plan and that office only accepts PPO. When I chose my insurance plan (If I am honest I really don't research how PPO's and DMO's work and based on what I am hearing I am not the only one) I was able to find a DMO dentist within walking distance and I am going to get my root canal started now. I understand that a dentist office is a business so I have nothing to say with regards to them denying me service or a payment plan that allowed for 0 dollars down, as I had no money at the time of my appointment. It is what it is, I don't know how good the work is but the reception and assistants are amazing at providing peace of mind. read more

So I am happily updating my review as the entire practice came in today to visit me and my staff. They informed me that the previous doctor I had worked with was no longer a part of their staff, and I met their newest doctor, Doctor Kohler and he seemed very practical, ethical, and more conservative (his words!). They were incredibly warm and kind and assured me a better experience would be had the next time. I thought this to be a super nice gesture that would not go ignored. I was not going to take the time or energy to write this but after talking to a few other people, calling state board, calling two of my most trusted past dental offices (in the state I am in the process of moving out of) and talking to the hygienists that personally treated me over the years (actually the last decade) and then becoming a new patient at a different dental office here and sharing my experience with them, I think folks may want to think twice before making any appointments at this Town Square Dental office.... OR at the very least get another opinion... Right now I am in a relocation process and looking for a new dental office.... Now Town Square does not know this... however... for the last decade, really longer than that, I have been going to a dental office for routine cleanings approximately every 3-4 months in the state that I was primarily located in... I just like to stay on top of it and simply don't like waiting a whole 6 months. Generally I do not go more than 3 months without a cleaning. In the last decade - ish, that means I have had at least 40 cleanings from a variety of dental hygienists / offices... (I did share with Cami that I like to get my teeth cleaned more frequently than every 6 months... ) (Now... perhaps noteworthy... in those 40 + visits... not much has changed in terms of my health history, dental or otherwise, unless we are looking at lab work with improved markers... So, if anything, things are healthier today than ever before) ... My point here is that NONE of the previous dental office visits have I EVER been suggested nor have they INSISTED upon having a "deep cleaning".... And I find it a bit odd that a new office who does not know me AT ALL... INSISTS that one is not only needed but the absolute and only option upon a very first visit... Furthermore, I must say that I do also find it incredibly odd that before even LOOKING in my mouth, the hygienist, (Cami) began hinting at one... and then of course quickly told me that a deep cleaning was my ONLY option [ quote "based on her knowledge, education, expertise and experience" end quote ] (in what I perceived as a rather condescending tone, I might add). Hey... Maybe she is correct... maybe not... AND... after working pretty closely (in a different state) with several other dental hygienists (more closely with two) for the last ten + years on what I would consider to be a pretty regular basis and calling BOTH of them to ask about their thoughts and opinions after my Town Square visit (FYI - I refused actual treatment at Town Square) - my previous hygienists (who do not know each other) agreed I did not and do not need this AND that it was something that some places will recommend because 1) it is A LOT more expensive to do and 2) once you do a deep cleaning you can never again receive another type of regular cleaning, it is categorized in a completely different way - so you are always thereafter obligated to spend a significant amount more for every cleaning... (this was also confirmed by state board)... The hygienist at Town Square failed to inform me of this little tidbit... I found this out later... Town Square Dental has been called out on Yelp for making false cavity filling recommendations or so it appears if you read reviews... Is it possible that since they are no longer able to easily get away with the cavity $$$ thing that they are instead trying to bring in more cash by recommending / insisting on deep cleanings instead of regular cleanings which are far more expensive and a much greater financial commitment? This, I do not know... however...It might be worth pondering before you become a patient. I know I am relieved to not be a patient of this office. I am glad that I refused the recommended deep cleaning treatment. I do not think the recommendations made can be trusted based upon my experience today or my experience with dentistry in general... Is it entirely possible that I just walked out on the best hygienist in the whole world and her recommendations could have been 1000% spot on? Sure it is.. however... given my dental history.... given what other hygienists who have seen me many times say/ have said... given the way in which she made her recommendations... given the whole experience I had at this office... I can not help but feel as if I "dodged a bullet" (those were the words that kept entering my field has I walked out the door of that office) and I would never return to this office for any reason.... In fact, I'd go as far as to say... I might even go without ever getting a cleaning again before I'd go back to this office... I do not think, at least in my case, that ethics were at the forefront of the recommendations... read more

I'm not going to lie- I've had good experiences here. I did... for awhile. When Dr. Fulcher was seeing patients regularly, I enjoyed visiting this office. Dr. Fulcher was great- I enjoyed his manner and I genuinely felt like he had my interests at heart. I liked his staff. I liked the office. Fast forward, and the entire staff has changed. The new staff is fine. I think that *one* of the hygienists from the old guard is still there. No problem, these new folks are nice. Fast forward, and the entire staff has changed again. Fast forward, and once again every face in the office is completely different. This is when I really started re-evaluating my decision. Plus, I just didn't trust the dentist who worked on my teeth for reasons which I'm not going to get in to. But now I see that- once again, the staff is completely different. So maybe... give 'em a try? But just know that, if you enjoy the service which you get, chances are by the next time you visit the entire office will be filled with unfamiliar faces. read more

Curtis has been our dental hygienist for many years now, and we are always very happy with how detailed he is and his good suggestions for sensitive teeth have been life changing. He is also very patient with my 2 squirmy boys. We are also very happy with Dr. Kohler, he is very trustworthy.
