Prior to going to Towne Tile, I confirmed availability on the tile that I chose for my kitchen. Upon arriving, I browsed for 5-7 minutes to look for additional tile that I needed elsewhere. I waited for help by their office/desk area for another 5-7 minutes. During my time there, the staff of 3-4 completely ignored me and made very little eye contact. Essentially there was only myself and a couple in the store. The staff was more interested in helping this couple. We went in on a Saturday and needed a small amount of tile for a laundry room (55 sq ft). They had a good selection and we easily picked out the floor tile and matching bullnose. Before buying, I asked Chris if he had this in stock as our installers were coming that Friday. He told me they had it in stock in their San Jose warehouse and it would be delivered on Wednesday with plenty of time. Wednesday came and went without a call from Towne Tile, Thursday morning my wife called. They said they would call us right back which they didn't do. I called later in the afternoon as the tile contractor was arriving the following morning. I learned they didn't have the tile, in fact, they don't actually have a warehouse in San Jose. My wife and I were out of time and options with the tile contractor (and other contractors behind him) coming the next day. Ryan told us to come to the shop and pick something else out and he would make it right. We went to the shop and the he only had one other tile as an option. Ryan had a pompous attitude like we were putting him out. We chose the tile as we had no options at that point. They promised delivery to our house that evening for installation the next day. The delivery came and when I checked it, they had delivered the wrong grout. Amazing that nobody double checked after their initial mistake. I immediately drove to the shop and they were long gone 20 minutes after closing. I emailed them and the sales guy called back. He brought the correct grout the next morning. Ryan gave us a discount on the tile, but when I went to take back the incorrect grout and get the credit, he was even more pompous than before. In his eyes, he made no mistakes. I tried to explain that they had: 1. Lied about the tile being in stock 2. Lied about having a San Jose Warehouse 3. Didn't call when the tile didn't arrive 4. Only had one other option available for us 5. Delivered the wrong grout He was pissed that I had mentioned my experience to someone else. I tried to politely tell him that I think we were going to have to disagree on how badly he handled the situation, but he didn't want to hear about it. However, had they been honest about 1-3 above, I would have used another supplier. Instead, I was stuck with moving forward with them at the 11th hour. Do not trust Towne Tile and especially Ryan. They do not have a San Jose Warehouse where the tile is in stock. They rely on outside distributors. Timing on a construction job is very critical. Cut out the middle man and go directly to one of the shops on Brokaw Road. My advise is, if you do decide to move purchase from Towne Tile, *Do Not Pay* until the tile is delivered on time and your order is correct. read more

Our team have used many tile companies over the years, but far and away the best we have found is Towne Tile. Other than the funny location close to downtown Campbell which is interesting since most of the other shops tend to be in the Montague, Brokaw area or farther north in Hayward /San Leandro. We found Towne Tile after searching Yelp and seeing the many positive reviews and after checking out 5 or 6 other tile shops in the Brokaw area, we decided to make the short drive over to Campbell to see what Towne Tile had to offer. The store's physical location likely wouldn't be considered "prime", but on the plus side there is usually adequate parking available in front of the store - which is not always the case in downtown Campbell. The owner, Ryan, is very friendly. When we met him, he said that a lot of times he ends up doing a lot of the design work for clients as far as matching materials (tile/stone) and colors -- even in the case where clients already have a designer. I was a little dubious of this claim at the time. But with his help and suggestions, we did our own design on our spare bathroom -- and it came out awesome! So it's true - Ryan does actually have some pretty good design chops! In our next project (master bathroom), we largely went with our designer's design -- but even in that case, Ryan still made a valuable suggestion to change out the wall tile for something more "substantial" (and of course he had a specific suggestion). My wife loved the change and we believe that it contributed to a better outcome. Ryan was always cheerful and responsive, whether by phone, email or text. We appreciated that he would sometimes take the time to call us at 9pm in the evening if we had issues or questions. His customer service is really what sold us on him. You would think with the level of customer service Towne Tile provides that their prices might not be competitive. But you'd be wrong! Between our spare and master bath, we purchased multiple different floor and wall tiles (porcelain) as well as a few Caesar stone slabs for countertops. In some cases his prices were the lowest of the 6 places we went, and in the rare cases where they weren't the absolute lowest, they were still extremely competitive. There may be some cut-rate places out there that might be a little cheaper -- but I'd take first class customer service over saving a few pennies every time. We were very impressed and pleased with Ryan (and Scott) at Towne Tile. The only hiccup was that we ordered two different wall tiles for the same bathroom (from two different manufacturers) that were supposed to both be "12x24", But it turns out in the tile biz those are only nominal numbers. Of course, we had no idea that 12x24 didn't necessarily really mean 12x24. It would have been ideal if that info had been pointed out to us before we placed the order (by either Ryan and/or our designer) rather than after it arrived. That would have saved us some hassle. On the flip side, Ryan introduced us to some good fabricators and pushed them for an expedited order, which was very much appreciated. And he even turned us on to a carpet supplier that saved us some significant money. Nice! The combination of superb customer service, a genuine interest in our project turning out well, Ryan's keen design eye, his encyclopedic knowledge of everything tile, his communication and his sense of humor ensured we had two great projects and we would not hesitate to use Towne Tile again. read more

My wife and I are in the midst of a total home remodel: 2 Bathrooms, Kitchen, fireplace and entry way are all in need of tile. We knew it was going to be a lot of tile (and a lot of money) and we want to be very careful with what we chose as we'll be living with these decisions for many years. We've done this before on our first house and went to all the tile shops over on Brokaw street. We spent several weeks deliberating and couldn't seem to figure out the right materials. Our tile installer (see my review of South Bay Tile) recommended we go to Towne Tile. Ryan greeted us when we walked in the door. We explained to him what we were working on, and our initial thoughts. We weren't quite prepared for what follows. Ryan has a technique of asking people about their lifestyle and what they want out of life. He then works to surround you with that life. It's a bit like speed dating but for tile. Based on your answers, he starts pulling tile samples out that are a reflection of your answers. He is extremely adept at matching you to tile. The whole process might be a bit disconcerting as Ryan works to quickly figure out who you are, but the results are truly worth it. He cares about the results. Ryan is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about tile. Within an hour, we had two bathrooms designed, with the appropriate tiles, patterns and accents. Both bathrooms are close to completion and are simply amazing. We've met with others on the team there, like Scott, and found that everyone is passionate and professional about there business. We're now working with Ryan on a fireplace and granite for our kitchen. He's been to our house so that he can get a complete context of what we're doing. Chris Fryer @ Towne Tile is AMAZING!!! He completely saved our remodel. We were completely stumped. We had hired interior designers to help spec a top-shelf kitchen, guest bath and kids bath remodel. They had selected some tile and stone but we were not convinced that all together it would look good and POP. We gave up on our designers (after $$$$ spent) and decided to try out on our own. We've visited all the specialty tile stores in the area All Natural Stone, Tile Shop, Tile Fantastic, etc. They had some interesting product, but we didn't see how it all would come together. Then we tried Towne Tile and met Chris. We brought cabinet door sample and existing tile and stone picks. We chatted a bit as he tried to understand our style and wants. Then - get this - he explained the theory behind matching cabinets, countertops, backsplash, above-range focal point - colors, materials, "movement". It was a complete eye opener. Towne Tile was my first stop in the tile shopping process. It got great reviews and I would rather drive to Campbell than to North San Jose. When I walked in, I was greeted by Anisha and a very clean, beautifully organized tile store. Anisha was very kind and very helpful. We talked about what I was looking for, which admittedly, I wasn't sure myself, and she suggested I purchase the decorative accent tile that I seemed to remember seeing and liking at Lowe's and bringing it back to her so we could work off of that. After leaving Towne Tile, I purchased the accent tile and spent the next couple of weeks at most of the tile shops in North San Jose. Of all the North San Jose tile shops, I can recall actually speaking to maybe one person, briefly. I wasn't helped by anyone. Therefore, I returned to Towne Tile, accent piece in hand, and was greeted, once again, by Anisha. She brought out many different samples that complemented by accent tile beautifully. She even followed up with an email with different sketches suggesting various ways I could incorporate the accent tile. The process was very overwhelming for me, but with Anisha's guidance, it brought my project back into the realm of totally doable. Lol! Although the tile that I was sent home with complemented my accent tile, my husband wasn't 100% sold on it. I continued my hunt for the perfect tile and ended up finding it at one of the North San Jose shops, but because Anisha has spent so much time with me, I felt like she deserved the sale. Therefore, I returned to Towne Tile, showed them what I'd chosen and ended up buying the tile through them. The 5 stars are well deserved for Town Tile & Stone. I did an extensive house remodel which included a master bath remodel. I had to visit close to 10 tile/stone shops in the Santa Clara area. the sheer volume of the various stones/tiles out there are just overwhelming. Most frustrating part was everywhere I went, the sales people didn't really help me. I had to pull tile samples myself and ask them about the prices and information. It seemed they could care less or didn't want to be bothered. But NOT Scott at Town Tile & Stone! I was looking for an arabesque glass tile and called the store just to check. Scott was helpful on the phone right away, which prompt me to drive down to Campbell for the visit. The store is not huge like Bedrosian or All Natural Stones, but they carry a lot of options. I brought in some of the tiles I already bought elsewhere and told Scott what I wanted to achieve. He was literally on the ground comparing the various stone tiles to make sure i have the best matches. He even drew a layout picture of what each wall & tile area should look like. I felt he was truly passionate about putting together the best tile layout for me, not just to sale me the most expansive tiles. After reading these reviews I can only wonder how the experiences described in the positive reviews can be so different from what I experienced - which is just what the folks who said Ryan - and Scott too - were like used car salesmen. They are smooth with the sales pitch and have a great selection of tile. However, any service ends there and they stand behind absolutely nothing they promise. The tile delivered to me was inferior; we wasted precious weeks in the middle of a major bathroom makeover as they stalled and dodged responsibility before finally admitting the tile was seriously flawed. Just be warned: deal with them at your own risk. I lost a great deal of money and time because of them, and belatedly discovered that several experienced local contractors will not work with anyone who gets their tile from Town Tile & Stone. Town Tile has a good selection of flooring. We looked for months to find the perfect tile and found it at Towne Tile. Their store is meticulous and well presented. Ryan helped us with our initial purchase and we found him energetic and excited about his products. We ordered our tile and Ryan gave us a quote for installation. When we advised him that we had our own contractor he's attitude changed and that's where the level of customer service ended and a pretentious attitude surfaced. We found it challenging to deal with them in future interactions even when we ordered more tile. Delivery dates were never met. Although promised, we were never contacted with updates. We initiated all follow-up calls only to be greeted with an attitude that they were too busy to take our calls and promised to call us back - however, they never did. Bought wall and floor tiles from Ryan, it was not a pleasant experience, although the tiles are not bad. Ryan did the calculation for us and we ended up with too many wall tiles and not enough floor tiles. We had to buy an extra box of floor tiles and pay for the shipping which was much more than the box of the tile. We were astonished by the shipping charge. I have never seen a store charge that much for shipping. Make sure you ask them to give you an estimate of the shipping before you buy, otherwise you will be ripped off! read more

Wow... this place provides an unmatched blend of great selection and fantastic service. I've made 2 purchases here in the past 4 months, and both experiences have been top notch, although the second visit is what really clinched the 5-star rating. On my first visit, I was looking for terracotta floor tiles for a bathroom. If you've ever seen real terracotta tiles, you know that they are gorgeous. I went to multiple tile shops looking for terracotta, and the response I received was: "we don't have any real terracotta tiles; there's not enough demand. Here, check out these porcelain tiles designed to look like terracotta!" Fake terracotta tiles look just that - fake. No thanks. Towne Tile actually has the real deal - beautiful terracotta tiles nearly an inch thick! They're not exactly cheap, but as far as I'm concerned, they're worth it. My second visit was also for bathroom floor tiles. Without getting into too many of the boring details, I was looking to match a couple of colors very closely, and was having a lot of trouble finding anything that was a close match that was available immediately (i.e. that didn't involve an 8-10 week custom order). Towne Tile came through for me again! They had a tile available that was very close to the shade I wanted, and were able to get it to me only 2 days after I placed my order. Here's the pièce de résistance, though: Scott not only helped me absolutely NAIL my accent tile color (turns out that I should have been considering marble - it hadn't even occurred to me!), he even had a few leftover pieces of the exact marble I needed in the stock room, and he gave them to me! For free! I am not going to lie - it really made my day. Not only did he figure out the perfect solution to my problem, he actually solved the problem by handing me the material on the spot! I had been expecting to have to settle for something kind of half-ass because I'm on a tight timeline, and instead I got something absolutely perfect! We explained our project to Chris and had pictures to show him of the existing circa 1985 tile we were replacing. He helped us walk through their showroom explaining the differences between the different stone materials and where they came from. He also knew which types of tiles are easier for the installer to handle and why. He sent us home with three samples so we could see them in our own home. Chris also provided a recommendation for an installer, Saul Echeverria from Diamond Point Tile, that we thought did a terrific job. I found out about Towne Tile and Stone after my tile didn't arrive in time from another store. I wanted a plan B if the tile did not arrive in time again. I talked to Scott Turner and explained my situation. He called the other store and pushed for a solid delivery date and indicated that it was important that it was delivered on time. This place has wonderful selection and prices. We did an entire home remodel and got all our tile here. They were able to help with tile selection and help with the overall process. We worked mostly with Scott, who was very knowledgeable and helpful and the nicer between the two guys there, in my opinion. Pros: -they can get you any tile from anywhere -they match prices -professional -prompt communication (can contact via phone, email, in person) -everyone speaks English Cons: -you can only return unused tile within 30 days. -although professional, the customer service was not friendly, if you understand the distinction. Especially Ryan, the owner, can be rude and defensive at times. Scott is better and I would def recommend working with him. At the end of the day however, you're not going there to make friends. The quality of the products and the customer service is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST! Scott and Ryan took the time to show us different options and price ranges to meet our tight budget. They created spectacular designs for our back splash. We must have called them 15 times over the course of a few weeks and they were always patient and professional. They ALWAYS answered our calls and even gave us their personal cell numbers in case we needed answers to our questions during non-business hours. Wow, words cannot describe the level of customer service you get from Ryan. We ordered all of our tile, stone and counter top material from here a few month ago. He kept us and our contractor up to date on the arrival of our materials. We found out that we were short some tile and later on some stone and Ryan went out of his way to get the materials to us ASAP so the work would not be postponed for too long. Ryan always returns phone calls and stays on top of the orders and materials and keeping his clients notified so you don't have to worry about it. Towne Tile is just amazing! Ryan worked with us throughout our home remodel and provided expert advice on our floor tile, marble wall tile, and granite countertops. We changed all of our design throughout the project, multiple times, and Ryan was unflappable. He worked with us through our changes and helped us create our dream home. The kitchen and bathroom floor tiles work well with our wood cabinets and the granite countertop material that we picked. The marble tile we used in the bathrooms is astounding, especially with the small amount of glass accent tiles that Ryan suggested. For all this attention, Towne Tile's prices were absolutely reasonable. Ryan never rushed us and was very patient and always cheerful. After we decided upon a marble tile for the walls, he called around to find the source for our marble tiles that were the most attractive. As marble is a natural stone, every lot is different. We were concerned about matching the wall marble with the floor tiles. Ryan called around to different suppliers and found a lot that perfectly matched in Southern California. He had samples sent up so that we could review the color and we were very happy with what he had found. The granite fabricators that Ryan recommended were top-notch. We went with mitered edges and they look seamless. Even the area around the kitchen sink opening was mitered and is beautiful. Ryan went with us to the fabricators to help us layout the cut pattern to maximize our yield and for best appearance. We recommend Towne Tile to anyone doing a tile or countertop project. read more

My contractor recommended Towne Tile for a bathroom remodel we were working on. Because I initially felt overly steered toward a color/palette I didn't totally love, I decided to try other places. So I did. Every other tile store in San Jose, it felt like. All of which were higher-priced, with less experienced/helpful/interested people. In the end, the process helped me decide exactly what I liked, and I ended up going straight back to Towne and Tile. Exceptional experience with Ryan @Towne Tile and Stone in Campbell. If I could give a rating above 5 starts I would. We are building a house in Los Altos Hills and have dealt with a lot of different vendors in different areas. I could say without any doubt that Ryan is THE BEST, several notches above anybody we dealt with. Ryan was and is extremely helpful at every stage starting with tile selection, then with design and purchase, and finally following-up on every order no matter how big or small it was. His prices are extremely competitive, so now whenever we need more tile or stone we wouldn't even bother checking anywhere else. He is very responsive, always calls back, follows-up on orders and give a very good advise. We are very happy with tile, travertine, granite and marble selection for the entire house and get a lot of compliments on our selection. Building a house is a large scale job which requires management of many suppliers and contractors with many interruptions and follow ups. I came to Towne Tile on a recommendation from one of my contractor's clients. I brought my own latin inspired design for my master bath shower. Scott was very patient & thorough in attempting to find tile to match my design. After 4 attempts at finding product where one or more colors or sizes out of my 4 choices was not discontinued (thru no fault of Towne Tile or Scott), I gave up. Scott knew my design taste & drew up a different design & found porcelain tile for the walls & band that met my criteria. Must include a caramel/cappuccino color, no white & must blend/match. I found the floor tile. All in all, it was a very positive experience and I will be returning when I am ready to remodel my guest bath! read more
