I had been to several tile stores looking for tile for a master bathroom remodel and it was overwhelming the choices and options you have to choose between. A friend recommended I try Towne Tile and so I carted my husband there hoping to get some idea of what he liked and didn't like to get me started. Shortly after arriving, we chose an accent strip and were carrying it around the store looking for other coordinating tiles when Scott walked up offering to help us. Within 5 minutes he had drawn a picture of our bathroom and shown us what we could do using the accent strip and other tiles. Since he knew we were doing this to sell the house, he chose very nice looking tiles which would appeal to many people and were not too expensive. It was perfect. Let me preface this review with that I had not tackled a major remodel on this side of the hill since 1989. My previous experience was a whole house remodel in Santa Cruz, California in 2009. My project in this area was a large kitchen that had been remodeled in late 1980's. On previous remodeling jobs, I had looked and purchased tile at the big tile warehouses located in San Jose. I did a bit of research and located Towne Tile in Campbell which for me was a much shorter drive. Plus I was looking for more personal service. I called and spoke to Scott on the phone and decided that I would go to the store and see for myself. I was not disappointed. I met Scott who remembered our conversation, enthusiastic and full of ideas for our large kitchen design project. Scott spent over 1 hour listening to my concerns and choices of surfaces and tiles I was looking for. I had my iPad with me filled with pictures of what the kitchen presently looked like. He was very informative. I think it must have been at least an hour and I had not committed to buying anything yet. At the end of our conversation, I told him I would be back with a designer friend. The designer friend and I returned. We selected the tiles in less than 1 hour. It was such an easy process. I was going to act as the general contractor on this remodeling job. Scott told us that Towne Tile would order our tile and stone and then warehouse the product for us. Scott wanted to make sure the product would be available when installation was scheduled. I needed subcontractors for the demo, tile setting, and solid surface installation. I asked Scott if he could give me any referrals and lucky for me Towne Tile "had weeded through" all the flakes. As the project proceeded, Ryan came out to confirm how much solid surface we would be actually using on the job. He couldn't believe the kitchen was that big. He is very detailed oriented and wants his customers happy. I cannot tell anyone enough how easy this project was. Every single referral for subcontracts worked out beautifully. All the subcontractors showed up ON TIME. All tile and surface materials were there at Towne Tile waiting for the subcontractors to pick up. No waiting for a back ordered tile/stone because Scott and Ryan took the time to get the tile and stone before the install date. The kitchen looks amazing. I could not be happier. BEWARE of Ryan,the owner of Towne Tile. I planned on remodeling the small kitchen in my condo at The Villages. Not knowing where to start I looked on Yelp for recommendations. Towne Tile had wonderful reviews so my husband and I went over to the showroom. We were very impressed by the organization of the many samples and cleanliness of the attractive showroom. Ryan was courteous although rather hyper. We decided to go with Towne Tile and Ryan made an appointment with us to come out to the house, which he cancelled at the last minute. We are happy with the workmanship of our remodel except for the placement of some small tiles in our backsplash. I called Ryan and asked him to please come out to the house to check the work. After canceling three times, he finally came out. We asked him what could be done to correct the problem. He was very argumentative and defensive from the moment he walked in the door and told us it was our own fault because we did not communicate with the tile setter. We, admittedly, did not stand over the workman's shoulder and watch his every move. However, Ryan's behavior which included, among other things, his telling us he had shown us plans he'd drawn up regarding the backsplash were untrue. Ryan's behavior is VERY unprofessional and I would not recommend Towne Tile to anyone. read more

Not only did he miss our first appointment, but upon arrival of the second appointment he actually told me I was "lucky to have him come out and that he was doing me a favor." I always prefer to support small local business vs the big box stores if they have the serivice, selection and price I want. Luckily, Towne Tile had all of the above. As a Campbell resident this was an easy choice for me. They have a very large selection and a knowledgeable team to help you design (if you want input) and select the right colors, tile, grout for your project. Ryan was very helpful in calling around to granite showrooms to help me locate a slab big enough to make our large island without a seam. He located one and called ahead, so when I arrived, the slabs were pulled and waiting for my inspection. He then referred me to a fabricator he has worked with for years, that did an excellent job. Scott was very helpful in product selection and ordering. He ordered the perfect amount of tile, so we have a small amount left over for possible repairs if ever needed. He over estimated the grout, but was very happy to take back the unused box for a refund. All in all, this shop was an excellent choice for our kitchen project. read more

Went to the store to buy backsplash tile, and I was so impressed with the service that I ended up buying our vanity counters, floor tile and bullnose. Very friendly and knowledgeable and significantly cheaper than the warehouse type stores in San Jose. We got this really beautiful matte glass beach glass tile that looks incredible and is cheaper than what I found online. Nice selection of Quartz also. read more

I went to every tile store around, often several times, and Towne Tile was by far the most helpful and had the best prices. Some tile stores did not even offer any help! Scott was friendly, patient, and made sure I was happy with every detail. He designed two very different bathrooms for me, free of charge and free of pressure to buy from him. I compared prices and he beat the prices from the other stores. The style of one bathroom was traditional and the other very modern. They both turned out beautiful. When I had an urgent problem during the tile installation and needed a creative solution, Scott provided it. And the solution made the bathroom look more striking! This review is mainly for their customer service. We were remodeling our master bathroom and came here to look at the tiles and potentially buy them. We worked with Chris and Scott. Both of them were very patient with us trying to figure out what we want. Gave a lot of suggestions on the color and tile combinations. I came here more then once. At one time I came in 5 minutes before closing and Scott stayed with me to make sure I have samples to take with me home to look at them. The quotes that they were giving us were very good , but just could not find the right tiles for us in that store. I would definitely recommend anyone to checkout this shop. read more

I worked directly with Ryan on our Kitchen, Bath and Fireplace remodel. Ryan was very helpful in helping us design everything and gave his advice on what materials would look best, etc. He made several trips to granite suppliers with us till be found the perfect slabs and even visited the job site as needed to both deliver some rush items my contractor needed or scope out the project for the final designs. There were a few cases where the suppliers messed up and Ryan "borrowed" from another order to make sure we had what we needed (sorry if that was you). There was even one instance where we needed a few sheets of glass and Ryan had his driver make a special trip to Redwood City just to make sure we had it for the next day. I've had a chance to interact with both of the guys down there (Scott? is the other one) and they both are very knowledgeable and customer service oriented. Chris Fryer greeted me with a big smile, and gave me lots of helpful design advice for remodelling my two bathrooms. I had clear ideas of what style, colors I liked and how I wanted the bathrooms to look. I already picked out the cabinets and countertops. Chris is a great listener and an even better designer! So, in a couple of hours on New Year's Eve afternoon, we were able to create the look I wanted for both bathrooms. I went in not knowing what I wanted. I came out feeling very happy about all the decisions. The followup (ordering, delivering tiles to Pacific Grove from Campbell) was smooth and seamless. We've been trying to select a tile for some time and have been to a ton of stores with not much help. I saw the other good reviews for this store so we decided to give it a try. Soon after we arrived Scott was able to help us quickly hone in on a tile that we both love (no easy feat!) He also gave us tons of design/layout/accent/grout tips which was extremely helpful. I love this place! My husband and I are in the process of adding onto our house and redoing a bathroom. We went to All Natural Stone and were quoted outrageous prices ($66 a sq foot for one tile!). We were about to give up our dream for glass tile when we decided to stop in here. Not only are there prices amazing (so much less than other places-like 1/2 as much!), but Scott was very helpful. We were able to get all of the tiles we want, see samples of all colors, and stay within our budget. Do not go to any of the other tile places in our area. Town Tile is a five star vendor from start to finish. I have been purchasing tile and stone from them for years with nothing but complete satisfaction throughout each and every transaction. I say start to finish because by contrast to other shops I have bought from in the distant past, Town Tile has all the bases covered. They have a convenient location, a wonderful show room and a wide range of materials readily available at reasonable prices. It's the perfect trifecta to get the perfect materials installed on your project. The help that both Ryan and Scott provide over the material and design truly inspires confidence and good piece of mind. The number of choices throughout a remodel can be exhausting so the help they provide cannot be overstated. As a building professional for over 20 years I can say that when you frequent different material suppliers you defiantly come to favor some of those vendors over others. I have come to favor Town Tile because of the help I have gotten on numerous occasions from both Ryan and Scott. There is a trust that quickly came about from repeatedly finding in hindsight that they had played a good part in making sure the choices that my wife and I made on our own home were the right choices for us. So often if a material supplier provides this type of help it comes from a different individual on each and every visit. As a result it is difficult to know if that input is trustworthy. Some Specifics of my Towne Tile Experiences: My wife and I arrived at Towne Tile with a plan for our guest bath however, we didn't know what tile we would use on the floor. A white tile with white grout was the obvious choice given our plans for the shower and the rest of the room but we knew that the white grout would be soiled terribly in no time. Scott took minutes to present several options that fit the bathroom's décor with colors and a pattern that suited the rest of the bathroom and would do better against the foot traffic. We took his suggestions and ran with them. The bathroom is now over 3 years old and still looks like day one, floor and all. When it came to our master bath we had no preconceived ideas for what it would be. Again we took Scott's first suggestion because it sounded unique and tasteful. Once again this bathroom turned out awesome and we are so happy with our decision to go with Scott's recommendations. He truly heard us when we gave him our initial impressions for what was only a concept at the time. For our kitchen we had a few other contractors involved in quoting our stone counter tops. I knew I was happy with Towne Tile but still apprehensive about the fact that they would be contracting the work out to their installer. They gave me a competitive price so given our previous experiences with Towne Tile we decide to trust in them and go forward with it. They not only did a flawless installation but I was equally impressed with the fact that the installer was able to get the entire kitchen out of 2 slabs despite the fact that even I didn't think it was going to be possible. This was huge because it saved us from buying another additional slab for the additional square foot or two in question. I have very high standards for anyone I contract with and I can say that the care they took not only saved us money but it also got the kitchen installed perfectly. My husband and I visited many tile shops and supply stores while planning our 2 bathrooms remodeling project. Coming to Towne Tlle and Stone and meeting Ryan became a turning point for us. Ryan listened to us, asked questions, then gave us his honest opinion about our ideas - what works and what doesn't and how much it's going to cost. His information regarding tile and different types of grout and also his design tips helped us to make right decisions and avoid costly mistakes. We found the tile that we liked in another tile store but ordered through Ryan because he gave us much better price. In the middle of our project tile setter requested more grout and Ryan got it for us the next day. Then we were advised by our contractor and tile setter to use schleuters instead of bullnose - we had no idea what they are and where to find the right type. We called Ryan and again he got that stuff ready for pick up the next day.
