We stayed at this Marriott for the first time while visiting Frederick. I was so impressed with the newly redone rooms and the cleanliness of the entire hotel. We stayed at this hotel because the other one nearby that we usually stay at went up in price but after my stay at the TownPlace Suites at this particular location I think I have found a new go to. The accommodations and rooms were every bit as nice as other hotels in the area charging more. It's also always nice to have the breakfast available. Good location with highways nearby but not too close. Highly recommend. read more

I would not give this hotel even one star but it's forcing me to do it, but consider zero stars. Please take our advice and never stay at this hotel in Frederick Maryland. We brought our daughter and her two babies to this hotel to stay a week. Our daughter and grandson started having trouble breathing after being in the room for a few hours. There are so many complaints here, however the most serious one is they have BLACK MOLD! We have pictures if anyone is interested. Our daughter discovered black mold in the ceiling in the bathroom in the room she and our baby grandson were sleeping. Unfortunately we did not know this until the day before we checked out EARLY! Before the discovery of the black mold in the ceiling, I went down to the front desk personally a few times complaining about something causing our daughter and grandson to have a lot of trouble breathing (Both are asthmatics). They said they were full and couldn't change our room. Our daughter had to see her doctor twice to get put on prednisone and a nebulizer. They both were so sick for weeks after staying in this hotel. The manager STAN MARTIN of this hotel is the most belligerent and arrogant person I have dealt with in my life. He laughed out loud when I told him my daughter and grandson could have died in their sleep due to the BLACK MOLD because they are severe asthmatics. I cannot get anyone to listen to me. I called Marriott headquarters international several times spending hours on hold and waiting for someone to please help us shut this hotel down so that other people do not get sick. There was a lady across the hall from us who was sleeping in the hallway outside her room due to her asthma and not being able to breathe in her room as welI. I could not believe she was sleeping on the floor, sure wish I had asked for her name and number when we spoke. This is not over for us, we are filing complaints with the health department, the EPA, better business bureau, and anyone else who will listen. read more

Very disappointed in this location. Recently reserved a room for 2 nights for a family wedding over Memorial Day weekend. Called them twice to verify late arrival time. Upon arrival we found the room was unavailable and we had been charged a significant no show fee. Their solution was to send us down the road to a neighboring Marriott Residence Inn (who was also fully booked but quickly and efficiently rectified this problem and had us in a room in a matter of minutes). We were able to get our dog settled in and be ready for the wedding despite the colossal error by the staff at Townplace Marriott. Would not recommend this location at this time as they are undergoing renovations on their facility and clearly have issues with poor communication amongst staff which ultimately affects the guests. Drive down the street and stay at the Marriott Residence Inn!! read more

I recently stayed at the TownePlace Suites in Frederick for four weeks. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay. Everything in the hotel is brand new. My bed was amazing!! It was my favorite part of the room. The pillows, blankets, and mattress were so comfortable, I slept like a baby every single night. I loved the bed table that sits on top of the ottoman. I used it to work on my computer at night, or watch movies off my laptop. The desk had ample storage and plenty of lighting and outlets to work. I was very surprised by the amount of storage in the room. The enormous closet provided more than enough room to store shoes, boots, clothes, suitcases, and the like. The night stands are small dressers with three full drawers each, and the TV cabinet provides additional storage space. There is also plenty of storage space in the desk with book shelves, cabinets, and file drawers. I loved having places to put away all my things so the room never felt cluttered. Another feature I liked about the design of the room is the hide away table under the desk. It rolls out and can either double as an L shaped desk, or a dining table. Whomever designed these rooms was an efficiency expert. That said, they FORGOT THE MIRROR. There is no full length mirror in the room. That was a problem for someone staying for a full month. The laundry room has all brand new tumble washing machines making laundry day a breeze. They even had a TV and extra soap in there in case you didn't have any. Management was very friendly, however I was a bit disappointed in the maid service. They were pretty stingy about leaving extra coffee, dish soap, bath supplies, etc. It would have made things much easier if they left it because I really only wanted my room cleaned on Wednesdays, which was one of the two designated "deep clean" days. Management always obliged me when I went downstairs to get stuff, but I would have rather just had extra garbage bags and such in the room. Maybe they can improve on that a little bit. Also, the maids were kind of slack in their efforts. For example, no roll of toilet paper, kleenex, and an empty box of soap one day (and I left them a tip). So I'm not sure what it takes to motivate them to be attentive to details if the tip wasn't enough. The public area downstairs was very nice. I used the gas grill one night to cook some meat for the week. The single skillet/burner in my kitchen wasn't really doing the job. I would also recommend the hotel provide a small omelet pan that fits the burner size. The large skillet is handy to have, but I found that it didn't really fit the burner so it made it difficult to use. The fridge was perfect for me - temperature was regulated properly and I didn't accidentally freeze my fresh veggies or have anything go sour. (things we take for granted!). The fitness center was nice - much better than other hotels in the area - but then again, it's new. Overall I had a great stay there and would return. The location was great - across the street from major shopping, dining, major highways, and a CrossFit gym. Room Tip: I would have preferred a view of the back side of the hotel instead of the parking lot. read more

We love this place. Period. It's pet friendly, which is huge for us. The staff is great. There's a pool. The rooms are large and there's plenty of room to stretch out. We had a big, real refrigerator with a real freezer. Not one of those college dorm cubes. We had a stove and microwave also. The A/C was cold and the parking was close. I stayed here for one night for a wedding. There were a significant number of rooms reserved under the wedding block. "Guaranteed" check in time is 3 and it was very important that everyone there for the wedding be able to check in on time because the shuttle for the wedding picked us up at 3:30, and the hotel was aware of this. A number of people got there early and requested early check in, including myself. I arrived at 2 and asked if it was possible to check in. The extremely rude lady at the front desk said no rooms were ready, which I thought was weird because checkout time is 12 so they had two hours to get rooms cleaned, but it was understandable because check in time isn't until 3. I asked if our room would be ready in an hour (at 3) and she said "I don't know, maybe". When I inquired as to why she didn't know if our room we paid for months in advance wouldn't definitely be ready at the supposed check in time, she got extremely loud and irate and said she didn't look at the clock so she didn't realize 3 was in an hour. Fortunately, at 2:45, we were able to check in and get ready. A significant number of guests arrived a few minutes after us, closer to 3, and they didn't have the luxury of checking in on time. The lady was extremely unprofessional and unapologetic and suggested they just get ready in friends rooms. Several people had to get ready in the lobby bathroom. I don't understand how a hotel could screw this is so badly, and not even offer any sort of apology, but instead an angry screaming woman, when it was entirely their fault that they didn't get rooms ready in time for rooms that were booked months in advance and they knew people were needing to check in at 3. Anyway, to summarize, if you have somewhere to be and want to check in on time OR simply expect decent customer service, DO NOT COME HERE. read more

Frosty Friday Deal can't be beat. In December, ask for the Frosty Friday Rate. My wife and I came down to Frederick and we kept pushing off making a reservation until we saw their special rate on Thursday night of $64 (with taxes). I was thinking we might be getting a dump for that rate but this place was perfect and I wish I had an excuse to stay 2-5 nights at the place. We received a King and a pull out couch in a studio for this price. It was on the bottom floor so we also had high ceilings to go along with the room which made it seem huge and open. The mattress was nice and firm and had barely any use. The interior area is great for a place to work on your own computer or one of their 4 desktops set-up. Plenty of room to sit with a group. They has a pool room (billiards), pool, workout room, and nice patio with grills. A nice complimentary desk with hard candy, apples, bananas, coffee, and other hot beverages are available 24/7. The room had a nice TV with plenty of channel to choose from, a two burner stove, microwave, freezer, refrigerator, sink, coffee maker, complimentary beverage material,, dishtowels, dish soap, and all the other normal stuff. The bathroom was clean and modern with a large shower (no tub). They also have a spot to plug in an electric car and preferred parking for gas efficient vehicles and carpools. The workers at the place were super friendly and helpful. The one lady knew a lot about downtown Frederick. The only downside is that they are not on most GPS maps yet as we could not find them at first. We had to call because we were by all the Marriots but couldn't find it. They are on the other side of plaza almost ride behind the movie theater. Great Location for the highway, eateries, and shopping. If I get the great rate again then i will be back. read more

I am a regular business traveller, and my department secretary selected this location for me to stay during a month-long training in Frederick, Maryland. The hotel is exceptionally clean, and all of the furnishings are modern and comfortable. I slept very well once I got past my jet lag. That said, the walls are a bit thin, and you may hear conversation (and more!) from the room below and beside you. They have a full complement of cable channels for entertainment. The wifi is relatively stable and fast enough to stream Netflix in 1080p, and a faster, more stable connection is available for a nominal fee for heavy users. The pool is nice and heated (a must for a Maryland winter), and the exercise room appears to have been stocked by a fitness fanatic - it exceeds what I usually find in a hotel gym. The room's glass-walled shower is amazing, with strong pressure and rapid temperature in the mornings. The kitchenette includes a small open range, a microwave, a full size refrigerator, and enough pots and pans to do a bit of cooking rather than rely on any of a number of tasty restaurants in the nearby shopping center. The only thing your kitchen might need would be an oven (not going to happen!), a set of measuring cups, and possibly some cheap tupperware in which to store leftovers. Those latter two items can easily be acquired at a nearby WalMart, Wegman's, or convenience store. There is breakfast every morning, with sausage or bacon, waffle irons, fruit, bread options with a toaster, some patries, and several cereals. The coffee is terrible, but caffeinated - and there is an excellent selection of teas. The coffee and tea will be available all day in the lobby. What really makes this place worthwhile is not the amenities, but the staff. They really do all seem dedicated to their job and work with a smile. They are universally polite, friendly, and patient with the endless questions that a weary traveller might ask. Housekeeping can get you a razor and dinner recommendations. I will add a special thank you to "front desk guy" Andrew", who me and my unit constantly mistook for senior management. He doesn't have problems, he has solutions. He is well-versed in the language of customer service - and possibly ninjutsu. He constantly anticipated needs, and when my team desired additional office space, he had no problem accommodating to our request and seamlessly inserted us into his conference room schedule without disrupting other clients' use. This is a very nice hotel. The room I was booked in had a lovely little Kitchenette set. The breakfast was simple but delicious. Sausages, eggs, waffles and toast. The staff is really sweet and helpful. I was there on business and had no idea where k was going and they helped me with directions and when I noticed an issue with my shower they took care of it immediately. I only gave four stars because the walls are really thin so you can hear people talking and their TVs which is a bit strange. I didn't mind too much, but if you end up with noisy neighbors this could be a nuisance read more

The room was very clean, reasonably priced, and our 2 bedroom suite was more like an apartment than a hotel room. The staff was really accommodating and super friendly. THE STAFF IS AMAZING AND THE HOTEL WAS ON POINT! I stayed here in May and was only supposed to stay a couple nights and then head to my parents house in Hagerstown. Unfortunately my dad ended up going into the hospital and we (myself and 22 month daughter) weren't able to visit the area he was in. It was a day by day basis and the hotel went ABOVE AND BEYOND to not only continue extending the stay (even though they were booked solid due to conventions and training and i think a wedding) but they also kept me in the same room. The housekeeping staff was beyond amazing and on point. The room was perfect, the pool was clean, stocked with towels etc, the gym was actually rather nice and very clean. They offered ear buds at the front too. I can't say enough positive things about this hotel and the staff. And the breakfast- delicious. so many options, organic blueberry waffle mix for waffle maker, hot and cold options, milk, juice,fruit, etc. Everything was above and beyond. I ended up having to stay there 11 days total. I was only to stay 2. so every day when I went to ask about extending one more night.. THEY MADE IT HAPPEN. And the room was very nice. everything I needed was at my fingertips. Dishwasher, fridge,ice, sink, dishes,etc. It was amazing. From the breakfast, amazing housekeeping staff, front desk staff ( there was one gal that wasn't very nice or "warming" at all but one bad apple didn't make a difference) -actually- a little more of a smile or at least be nice to customers wouldn't be the worst thing. I only say that towards the younger dark hair, I think glasses girl that worked the front desk. read more

I don't usually leave bad reviews but this, in my opinion, is worth posting. I'm a healthcare worker, working the frontlines and had the unfortunate situation where I had to self-isolate myself at home. As a safety precaution, I had booked a room for my husband and 2 small kids to stay at this hotel for 2 nights starting on 4/29/2020. When my husband had arrived on 4/29 to check in, he was told that his reservation had been cancelled. He reported that the front desk staff and manager were present at the time of check-in, and they were rude when asked why his reservation was cancelled. I didn't understand why the reservation was cancelled and no calls were made prior to the check-in to notify either one of us that it was cancelled. So, I called the hotel myself to figure out what happened. When I called, I was rudely greeted by the front desk staff who answered the phone and when asked, she stated that the reservation was cancelled because of the stay-at-home order and because we lived in the city of Frederick. I explained that this was not a reservation for a vacation but a necessity to keep my family safe while I'm on ordered self-isolation. The lady on the phone rudely stated, "well, the manager is not in right now, so she will have to call you back." I said that was fine. While waiting for the call, I had to scramble to find a place for my family to stay. So I before making the reservation online, I had called a few hotels in the area (in the Marriott family) and all stated there wouldn't have been a problem for my family to stay at those hotels. While on the line with another hotel, I had missed the call from the manager, so I called back. I spoke to the same front desk person who stated, "the manager said it's fine, he can come back." After notifying my husband of this news, he said he did not feel comfortable staying there because the staff was rude to him. So we cancelled the reservation and stayed at another Marriott hotel. read more

The review would be a lot higher, BUT for a Marriott branded hotel it is lacking a LOT of class. The walls are very thin, you can hear everything your neighbors are doing, cooking, using the bathroom, opening doors, talking, coughing, watching TV. The noise level is very high, even after changing rooms I could still hear the neighbors as if they were in the room with me. The maid service is lacking the Marriott quality, twice I had to ask for Shampoo/Conditioner and Body Soap. They have large bottles secured to the shower, they ran out and were never filled, the second time I ran out, the maid filled the conditioner bottle with shampoo. I ran out of Tissues and they were not replaced, I ran out of paper towels and they were not replaced. During a two week trip here I had to leave four notes to the maid on what to complete, all should of been done daily with out asking. The floors were not vacuumed daily and bed sheets were not changed twice a week like every other Marriott branded hotel I've stayed at for a week or more. The beds were far from the Marriott quality, they were hard and pillows were just miserable! Pillows were so bad that I actually went to the store and purchased a pillow for my two week visit. The light in the bathroom is On a weird timer so if you are in there for more than 5 min, it goes dark then it will not come back on even if you flip the switch. I am in the area a lot for work and I will NEVER use this hotel again. A few good points, the breakfast is great, and the lady who works it is a breath of fresh air in the mornings! The gym and pool are great. "Most" of the front desk staff is very friendly. But, with the maid service and over all comfort level of the beds and noise I will not stay here again for a long trip. read more

We reserved a room for five people, with 2 queens and a rollaway requested in our reservation. Despite them knowing we had 5 in our family, we arrived to find out that no rollaways had been saved for us. So we had 5 people and 4 places to sleep. The hotel has two rollaways, and it has a first come first served policy. I am not sure where they thought our 5th person was going to sleep. So, if you are a larger group, don't count on enough beds even if you reserved it correctly. With 11, 13, and 15 year old kids, the beds can't be shared by three people and who wants to sleep on a hotel floor? We would have reserved elsewhere if we had known! If you have four or less, the hotel was nice. Good beds, good breakfast. It was an easy drive from Gettysburg, reasonable place to stop on the way to DC. read more
