The hotel is nice. I practically live in hotels, especially Marriotts. So, I have my fair share of ups and downs. Some of the downs were, there was no soap. I had to go down to the front desk to ask for soap, and i stayed for an entire week straight and they only serviced the room once during the stay. I know some properties nowadays clean or service once every other day now, but once in an entire week is a bit much. Now, you're getting to the point of needing to ask to replace toilet paper and tissue paper. Not to mention the stockpile of recycling and garbage. Pre-COVID, there was a program that was optional, to have your room serviced once every 3 days or five and you'd get bonus points as the guest. Now, the option is taken away with the hotels saving a great deal of money on not servicing as often, but now you are sacrificing the quality of the institution of the property itself. It's a Courtyard. However, I recently returned from several weeks in Central America. It was amazing. They'd make animals out of towels, clean the room daily, everything was pristine, breakfast was included and was as great as some breakfasts I've had at JW Marriott properties. But Courtyards in the U.S. don't have breakfast included, not even for Titanium or Ambassador Elite members. So, not all of the same name brand are created equal. I've stayed at several Courtyards in California that stand out from the rest. So, it depends. The suite was great. There's no gym at the moment, it's under construction. Plenty of parking and tons of things nearby. I'd stay again. But, hopefully they'd address servicing the room more than once a week. read more

Very nice property, currently going through renovations, but not interfering with my stay. Rooms are quiet, bed is comfortable.

We have stayed here on several occasion's but this will be our last. It appears their is a reno happening in lobby area ... this was ongoing since last winter when we stayed. Room is very dated and smelled of mold. Bed has a very inadequate sheeting system ... plastic mattress cover prevents sheets from staying intact... they slide off. Once again zero housekeeping so you must do your own clean up and request towels. Air ducts need cleaning.. room had just a bad dirty smell. Lots of Marriott options in this area... will move on from The courtyard and you should do the same read more

Road trip vacation! A full day of sites and beautiful scenery- booked this hotel on the fly but specifically chose it because it had an indoor pool. Of course booked on Priceline (I should know better) get to the hotel and on my way to the elevator see a sithey have the pool closed for some mysterious reason. It has water in it! This includes the hot tub too! Which is also running- unless the bubbles in it are from another unhappy customer. On top of this there was a sign in the elevator informing guests that some sort of cleaning will be taking place the morning after I check in. I plan to be back on the road before it becomes an issue; I hope for their case they wait until after I'm gone. I sleep in the buff and am not modest or shy. While I realize some of this is my responsibility for booking through Priceline. At a minimum, they should have put something on the site alerting people or at the front desk before I checked in. While under normal circumstances they maybe (but maybe not) could have earned a 3 star, they're lucky I could only leave 1 and nothing less. They did offer to let me use the pool etc and one the hotels next door (why not just move me? Oh right, Priceline...no cancellations or transfers) Granted I was super hungry, but still I really didn't feel like throwing away the ~$180 and just moving myself for 1 night. Speaking of hungry, no onsite breakfast. Thanks Marriott and Priceline for effing up an otherwise glorious day! read more

I typically stay at the Residence in across the street but on this occasion it was booked up so I stayed here for the first 2 nights. The hotel was clean and the staff I encountered were pleasant. Like most Courtyards the rooms are very small, but my room also had connecting doors to the room next door which I do not like. I found the bed to be very uncomfortable and got very little sleep both nights. To the hotels credit I'm sure they would have given me another room had I asked, but I didn't want to repack just to move down the hall for 1 night. My AC was also very loud and would shut off and turn off randomly throughout the night. I would only stay here again if the Residence Inn was booked up. read more

Other than that, this was a perfectly good Courtyard with the usual lobby, the usual room layout, the usual bathroom, the usual TV, the usual Internet (though maybe a bit more hassle than usual) and the usual price. I do like Courtyards because they do not have the free breakfast and therefore are less loaded with kids and shouting and running down the hallways. This Courtyard sits next to a Fairfield and a Residence and probably other Marriott properties. read more

Overall courtyard experience is always excellent and this was indeed a great hotel. I stayed in Courtyard Frederick for few nights and was definitely a fan. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The interior and the rooms are quite nice, spacious and clean which gives an impression straight away. They have pool and spa facilities which makes you feel worth it after a hard working day. The decor, furnishings and amenities are quite remarkable, they also have laundry facilities which can be very useful at times. They have a nice sitting area outdoor with a fire fire pit in the middle. Unfortunately, they don't serve breakfast, but they do have a cafeteria in the hotel which serves good food and nice coffees too. There is Westview Promenade just across the street which is a nice place to have dinner and do some shopping so that's a good thing. Nice experience and will definitely be staying here again. read more

I managed over 30 different retail stores for a company for over 10 years so I know what to look for as in Brand image and this hotel and employees are top notch. ***This Courtyard by Marriott is located in Frederick right off the highway in kind of a passing through area (you will also find a few restaurants, several other hotels and a large shopping center); overall, this is a decent Courtyard though there were a few minor negatives (no water cooler in the fitness center; not much exercise equipment and one of the machines was out of order; the police came at night for some reason)*** Most Courtyard by Marriott hotels, regardless of where they are at in the US, are very similar. The decor is the same--functional and nice but no frills. Most Courtyards also feature a 24-hr fitness center, complimentary Internet and complimentary parking (often free because many Courtyards are located outside the city in more rural and suburban areas). Most Courtyards now feature Courtyard's modern lobby design with a bistro that serves quick breakfasts and dinners. This Courtyard by Marriott in Frederick captures all of these trademark Courtyard touches. It is a nice and comfortable hotel. The lobby is relaxing and convenient with the quick service bistro located on-site and the complimentary Wi-Fi. The rooms are very standard--simple decor but enough room and comfortable (comfortable beds and a nice room temperature); the shower was also good. The 24-hr fitness center was where this Courtyard suffered the most compared to other Courtyards. Most Courtyards feature 4 to 5 exercise machines. I think this one had 4 machines and one of the treadmills was out of order. There was also no water cooler in the fitness center. The only other negative was that the police had to come to the hotel around midnight. I am not sure what the issue was, but the bright, constant and flashing light from the rollers was kind of a disturbance. The location of this Courtyard Frederick is like other Courtyards; it is located right off the freeway, which makes it a convenient location to commute to wherever you need to go. The hotel is located in kind of a highway stop area-- there are several other hotels and restaurants located near this Courtyard. This Courtyard is also a quick drive to downtown Frederick, which is a charming and quaint small town. Service at this Courtyard is good--friendly and attentive to customer needs. Room rates are not bad here; their weekday room rates are a little pricey; their weekend room rates seem more reasonable though this hotel is quite a drive to get to a major metro--it is probably 40 minutes to get to either Washington DC or Baltimore. Overall, this is a decent Courtyard by Marriott. Even though there were a few minor negatives with this hotel (like the fitness center), I've been to other Courtyards that were not as up-to-date as this one. This might not be the best hotel for the money in Frederick, but it is an okay option if you are loyal to the Marriott brand. This Courtyard by Marriott has a free parking lot. It is very easy finding an open spot near the entrance. read more

Business Traveler Review I travel to Frederick frequently on business, and always stay at this Courtyard (I'm also Marriott Gold/Platinum). The hotel is spotless, as are the rooms. Everything is typical Courtyard, which is a good thing. The hotel offers a small pantry by the front desk, with beer and wine. Internet access (wireless) is free, but a bit on the slow side if you're a power user. Nice selection of cable tv channels, but no Video On Demand (not that you can get away with that on your expense report). Hotel is located very near two major highways. Hotel offers breakfast, but it is typically overpriced. There's a market across the street for on-the-go types, as well as an IHOP for you pancake lovers. The shopping center across the street also offers some good dining options, including Mediterranean, Japanese, pizza, and delicious, delicious Chipotle. read more

The room was great, nice bed, great furniture, fast free WIFi, small gym but very efficient, a bar and bistro in the lobby, however the bistro closes after breakfast and doesn't reopen until 5, same for the bar, not open until 5. There's a small pool, and a great outdoor patio area, with a water feature and a fire pit. Very nice. read more

Air conditioning/ Heater made noise all night and was randomly cold throughout the night even when set at the highest heat. No free breakfast downstairs, not even a free coffee set up. I find that incredibly inconvenient. Not impressed. Also, the lock on the room keeps skipping so you have to insert your card and try to open the door multiple times even though it turns green, indicating that it worked. read more

This was a nice hotel off a freeway. We stayed here for a wedding and it was very clean, has a Starbucks - thank god!, an outdoor fire pit with garden area, indoor pool and hot tub plus a small work out room. They have a small area that sells drinks and snacks for that late need after drinking too much wine in those cute wine cafes in downtown Frederick. There is a nice sitting area with flat screen in the lobby. The staff was very friendly and would print directions for us. The rooms are basic but are decent and clean. The bed was ok but the bedding is thin. I took the comforter off the second bed and put on mine to create more thicker bedding. The water temperature in the shower went from hot to cold and that was a little frustrating - I guess everyone was taking showers during that time but during my stay I had a hard time finding consistent water shower temperature. I wish it was closer to downtown Frederick because that is where I preferred to spend time but a cab ride was aprox. $15 from the hotel. There are shops and restaurants very close across the street from the hotel. This was a nice basic hotel that is great for a 1 or 2 night stay- nothing grand or luxurious but ok with a good price. read more

What a nice little hotel! Boy and I went to Frederick for a short weekend getaway from DC, and this is where we stayed. We got there a bit early, but had absolutely no problems checking in. They gave us a room on the 3rd floor with a king bed. There was even a couch with a pullout bed, if you need. The tv is on the small side and isn't in HD, but it's less of a problem for me, since we had more plans than to hole up in the hotel room. I appreciated the fact that the shower and toilet were separate from the sink, so one of us could shower while the other could continue getting ready. The hotel as a whole even smelled like new. Everything was new and clean, which I really appreciated. The lobby has an interactive tv screen with information on Frederick, the weather, news headlines, etc. There's a pool (less for lap swimming, as it's not the deepest) and a gym. Outside, there are chairs surrounding the fire pit, an amenity that we had fun hanging around the evening we stayed. All in all, I would absolutely stay again. Is it magnificent? Not really. But it has a great staff (super shoutout to Curtis!) and pretty much all the amenities that one could want in a hotel. Highly recommended. read more

Avoid this hotel. We had the worst experience here after selecting this as our wedding hotel and almost 3 years later I am still upset. Along with a large room block, we booked a suite at the Courtyard about ten months in advance. We promoted this hotel to our family and friends for our holiday-weekend-long destination wedding. When we, the bride and groom, arrived for our room we found they had lost our reservation. In the end we had to stay at the Courtyard one night at a discounted rate, and then transfer over to the Fairfield Inn & Suites for the remainder of our stay paying full price. This meant we had to stay at a different hotel than our families and the majority of our wedding guests. I wish I could say the problems ended there. The hotel staff didn't pass out the welcome bags to our guests on check in, despite assurances it would be no problem. This meant that our guests were calling us constantly because they did not have the weekend schedule, the directions to the rehearsal venue, the wedding venue, etc. I was already frazzled by the other details of throwing a wedding and this was stress I did not need. The staff was unhelpful and always put the blame on the person who wasn't around. They did the absolute minimum required to get us out of their hair at that moment and exactly that. I mean, we had to PAY for our stay at another hotel on our wedding weekend. They didn't even offer us hotel points. The rooms at this hotel are just average, so if you are deciding between these and the Hilton properties for your event, I'd say choose Hilton. read more

Took my family here as a "Stay-cation" All the kids loved it. We got a king suite. Very roomy! I also enjoyed a couple of decent beers at the bar: flying dog and Sierra Nevada. This was one of the hotels on the site of a wedding we were attending, and we made a very good choice staying here. Clean, comfortable, well appointed and friendly. The fire-pit and lounge grouping on the patio was nice to enjoy with a glass of wine in hand and good conversation. We had breakfast in the lounge, everything was freshly made on site and tasty, convenient too. Recommend for travelers looking for a good hotel and for wedding parties - they had four of them, plus a couple of birthday party groups staying there at the same time. read more

We stayed here for a night and we had a large, clean room with a refrigerator and coffee maker. The cafe in the lobby area had Starbucks coffee which is a nice bonus. The only issue is when you turn on the tv a default channel about the historical area comes on at an obnoxiously loud volume. The remote was super slow to respond to turn down the volume. I'm sure we woke our neighbors twice because of the tv volume. Otherwise, it's a nice hotel. read more

This recently remodel Courtyard South of Frederick MD along Route 85 was very comfortable and accommodating. The new and very appealing décor, furnishings and amenities were very impressive and the facility, top to bottom, was orderly and in very clean condition. Unfortunately, they did not offer a free breakfast here, but the in-lobby cafe is very nice and the prices are reasonable. The rooms were spacious, well -layed out and very inviting. The only caveat about this hotel: NOISE. Walls/ structure seem to be paper thin possibly being an older courtyard hotel. Our room was on the court side by the outdoor patio and fire pit and that was a mistake. First, at 12:30 a.m., a group of adolescents were at the fire pit making an excessive amount of noise up to 1:30 am. Then at 2:15 a.m. (and again at 3:15!), right outside and below our room, a handful of guests were chatting loudly and rudely ...and it was coming right into our room. This was a weekend stay and to top it off, Sunday morning around 9:30 a.m. there were children in the swimming pool raising a racket and that noise traveled right through the floors. I assume weekdays would be more subdued being a business oriented hotel. Regardless, I recommend this hotel ,but I suggest requesting a room on the third floor and away from the Lobby / Pool and Courtyard. Especially on weekends. read more

A very middle of the road hotel. Not worthy of the Marriott name though. Hotel was super clean, staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was average size and fresh, nice little balcony, but the bed was hard, I was staying by myself and actually pulled the sheets off of the extra bed to give myself more padding on the bed I was using. The small fitness center was nice, I used it daily. The little indoor pool and hot tub are a nice touch especially in the bitter cold of winter. Food is bad and expensive! They really need a free breakfast, especially for the price of the rooms. With all the other options nearby I would NOT stay here again nor would I suggest this hotel to others. A softer bed and free breakfast won't be found here! read more

The bed was comfortable, and the rooms were large and clean. The hotel itself is surrounded by many similar hotels and several food options, but it also has a bistro inside (didn't eat there). There are no vending machines for sodas or snacks on any floor - you have to go to the mini mart by the front doors and pay at the front desk. I'd rather have a vending machine or buy from a nearby CVS instead of pay the slightly inflated price for a candy bar, but the staff is friendly and helpful. There is also a gym on the first floor, which I didn't use. It was clean, comfortable and convenient. Would stay again. read more

Didn't plan on staying here. At the last minute had to change from Salisbury to Frederick. The Staff (Laura,Kathy and the crew) were VERY helpful. They allowed us to check in early and made things easy. Breakfast was great. Always had plenty of food. If I head back to Frederick next year, I will stay here again. read more

On the one hand, I love the Courtyard redesign - you know exactly what to expect, and the rooms are comfortable, the bistro is dependable. And our stay was fine. But.... The pool was closed a lot -- maintenance, inclement weather (it's an indoor pool -- this one was baffling) so we had to trudge over to the Fairfield to swim. They, too, were cleaning their pool (maybe some coordination would work?), but let us in it. It wasn't as nice. We slept very well the first night. The second night was cut short when maid service on our hallway was SO LOUD it woke us up and kept us up quite early. Not sure why it had to be done now, and it isn't the fault of the maids -- they were quiet - it is just the carts rolling and the doors slamming, etc. and so on. Really awful. read more

Had to stay at his hotel over the weekend due to power outage and they were so helpful and friendly. Thy even help set up a pack and play for my son to sleep in. Even better was the fact that they sold Starbucks coffee in the bistro area which also has a very good breakfast. When we checked out yesterday the front desk clerk Ray so nice and polite and helpful. You could tell that he wanted the guest have a enjoyable time. I hope the his bosses see this cuz Ray demonstrates what Customer service is all bout. read more
