Stayed for one night while on the road. Upon walking in things seem pretty standard. Spacious lobby with the usual coffee silos. Our room however was badly worn. Patch jobs on the wall from pictures being ripped off or removed, the bathroom was in need of cleaning and recaulking - black mold in corner of shower. Hand towels and bath towels were like sandpaper. Did not provide bath mat towel for the floor when you get out of shower. And other badly hidden patch jobs on the walls in there. This is a very clean, recently renovated and well located hotel with a beautiful indoor pool. I removed a star from this review due to the person at the front desk who refused to put my freezer blocks in their kitchen freezer as the fridges in the rooms do not have freezers in them (even though this person insisted they did). Apparently a higher up person told them they can no longer provide this service. I need these freezer blocks for my medication. I haven't had this issue at any other Hampton Inns or any other hotels, for that matter. It's interesting when they ask if there's anything at all they can do to make you comfortable and you ask and their attitude suddenly changes to one of abhorrence. Unacceptable way to do business. Also, please make the extra effort to clean the mold and mildew from the shower. A little bleach would do the trick. read more

The food was tasty and fun. Chocolate chips and colored marshmallows to include in the waffle batter. It's the small things. The lady that managed the breakfast was top notch. Well the room was good, all be it not the room we booked. The front desk staff was quite rude and somewhat absent in the evening and the morning wasn't much better but at least they didn't hide in the back. All the other comments talk about the hot breakfast. Well that doesn't exist anymore. There are some premise breakfast sandwiches, waffles in plastic and a couple pieces of fruit. If you like your coffee with a lot of cream and sugar I'm sure that's great, but if you like it black like me, it tastes like cardboard. This brand of hotel used to be on the higher end of the cheep and cheerful class of hotels. At this point I won't be back to a Fairfield anytime soon. read more

We had a very nice visit. We were in town to celebrate a birthday and decided to wait until we got to Frederick to see which hotel was closest to the Army base we`d be visiting during our trip. Check in was very pleasant and they gave us the military rate since my son is stationed nearby. ($98 per nite plus tax and fees) The staff was probably hands down the best hotel staff I`ve ever had to deal with. Everyone was full of smiles and very helpful, even at 2am in the morning when the 9 year old in our party got some sort of stomach bug and spent most of the night throwing up. Some came and assisted with getting the bathroom cleaned and even left us with disinfectant and extra towels if we needed them. They provided a crib for the 1 year old in our party at no additional expense. The breakfast each morning was all that fancy, but there was lot to choose from and generally something hot was prepared each morning (sausage, eggs, hash-browns) in addition to the make your own waffle stand, oatmeal, cereal, fresh fruit and pastries. The location practically shares a parking lot with a Walgreen and and Exxon gas station, so getting last minute items or snacks throughout the day or nite is a very simple task. Our double room was pleasantly a nice size, there was a separate bathroom area, ample closet and dresser space, a desk with chair and then another chair with ottoman. Even with the crib it was ample space for all of us. We took advantage of the hot tub, which `closes`at 10pm, but we were there after that time. Since our trip got extended a few days to due the weather, I was also able to use their laundry room. It was $1.75 to wash and another $1.75 to dry and the laundry room closes at midnight. I was very pleased that my clothes got dry the first cycle and I didn't have to spend $3.50 to dry my clothes. There were no problem with the free wifi (HH member) in our room, but when I used the computers in the lobby, it was slow. Very pleasant stay. I would indeed stay here again. read more

Not typical Hampton standards. Bed was not the same, tired linens and hard mattress. I found other people's clothes in the room when I checked in. Very noisy place. The doors all slam extremely loud. Yes other hotels do this as well but this was definitely worse. There was a lot of outside noise and guest noise. Breakfast wasn't worth it. So arrived at 4am checked in. Ask the gentleman only staying today and Saturday. He stated I will only charge you for Friday night and check out Saturday. To us this was a god send. Saturday rolls around hotel desk calls and states they need payment for 2 night. Got hit with a lot of " Well Your Kind" fort for 20 mins only to be lied too and then hit with another $94 fee on top of the $389. Loved every-time I walked in and out the lobby was asked if I'm staying here and the disgusting looks they would express when I would kindly say "yes." We booked two adjoining rooms for my 11 year old grandaughter's birthday. She had 3 friends stay over night in one room and my daughter, niece and I stayed in the adjoining room. The girls had a blast in the super clean pool, ate pizza that we brought in in the large dining area, and had a wonderful sleepover. Our rooms were super clean and the staff was wonderful. Tereasa, at the front desk, was above and beyond helpful; and the gentleman supervising breakfast was extremely thoughtful. I take lots of short trips with my daughter and grandchildren, and this was one of the better places we've stayed ! read more

The ice and vending machines were not functioning on the floor we stayed in but that's really my only complaint. I did not book my stay accurately. While traveling, we pulled off to Hampton Inn. There was some confusion trying to enter this place due to road construction and only one way in to this hotel which is another entrance for another business. Regardless, we made it. The parking lot was full, I was thinking we wouldn't get a room. I entered the main lobby and there was 5 people ahead of me with ONLY one customer service for Hampton Inn working and she was really working as fast as she could. I've overheard that the hot water was not working properly which made some of the guest waiting in line alittle disappointed and frustrated. We didn't care because I just wanted to sleep and travel on the next morning. The line was very slow it due to the person working the front seat but some poor management with having just one guest services working. The person working there was very nice and understanding, some of the people waiting were rude and just plain stupid of how they acted. No pics. read more

The room was clean but smelled. Breakfast was boxed and I understand why they are doing that but if you don't drink coffee there is nothing else drink. The staff is friendly and all wearing masks. The pool and fire pit areas are nice. There was no hot water to shower only warm water and the shower diverted was piped backwards. Many guests complained about that. Ice machine did not work. I paid for two nights for this hotel cause i knew I wouldn't beable to check in early. But when i got to the hotel in the AM some lady told me they had canceld my room even tho i PAID for it. Then when I tried to get a refund since they wouldnt give me the room. They said it was against some policy that they couldnt refund. The lady at the front desk tried to tell me the hotel was completely full so what they did was charge me for the room and then gave it to someone else and charged them too. This place is my home away from home in Frederick. What keeps me coming back: the hot breakfast with fresh waffles, the warm service, a clean laundry room, clean and quiet rooms (recently remodeled), and the firm but comfortable beds. Most importantly it is quiet at night time allowing for a good night's rest. The night light in the bathroom is a thoughtful touch - no blaring fluorescent lights in the middle of the night if you need to use the restroom so you fall back to sleep more easily. Nicole in particular at the front desk will make you feel right at home. They have an unusually comfortable lounge and breakfast area, sitting areas on the patio outside, and they stock wine (with champagne glasses for sale, I kid you not! The couple ahead of me purchased a set!). This is an unusually well-appointed Hampton Inn and Suites. Interestingly, despite being right off the highway there is no bothersome road noise, regardless which side of the hotel you are on. Their workout equipment is a bit dated but functional, and they have an indoor pool which I've never used. This is a good value for the price for sure. read more

We stayed In this hotel for a week it's my second time staying in this Hampton Inn. The first time we stayed here because it was the closes hotel and all the lights in our neighborhood went out. I made reservations online when I checked in this rude young lady at the front desk proceeded to tell me the money will come off my card immediately in full. I explained to her that I'm a Hilton honors member and they have never charged me full price at check in. My family is moving to Germany the movers were at my house all day I was tired with 3 children that were tired and she wanted to tell me facts that weren't true. I had to transfer money out of one account to another just incase they took all the money out. FYI they did not charge me until June 15th and we checked out June 10th. The young lady was not only wrong she was rude. Any other time I would talk to a manager but I was so exhausted. It's sad this was my last impression of Frederick Hampton. read more

We stayed at this property about a week ago. It is a newer Hampton Inn and quite nice. We used Hilton Honors points for our stay so paid nothing out of pocket but I believe the rate was $108. If you are familiar with Hampton Inns, you know what to expect - nice-sized, modern rooms that are sparkling clean, good free breakfast, free WiFi, and generally new properties in safe locations. We were greeted warmly by staff upon arrival, and everything was as it should be. I actually contracted food poisoning during my stay (not from the hotel) so I can't speak to the breakfast quality but my boyfriend states it was good. No issues, and would certainly stay here again if passing through the area. read more

My last stay at this hotel. My wife and I planned to meet here because we were coming from 2 different directions as we do quite frequently . She booked the room through Expedia under my name with 2 guests. She arrived 1st and they wouldn't let her check in even though we have the same last name and address (obviously). Bill at the front desk said that it she "bumped up against a security protocol " .......a bigger security problem for me is having my wife wait in the parking lot for me to arrive. Even though my phone number was in their system, he refused to call me to get verification because "it could be anyone on the other end of the line" Thanks Hampton inn and Bill at the front desk. Overall, it was a great stay. I had a few minor issues. Breakfast was just ok. I typically don't go for the eggs, meat and French toast options but I gave the French toast a try and it was hard and cold. The one review talking about bed bugs made me nervous, but I was with a group of 20+ people and none of us had any issues. Otherwise, the bathroom counters are designed for people far taller than me at 5'4". It came up to the top of my stomach and was extremely difficult to bend over when washing my face/brushing my teeth. The shower head was so high as well there's no way I could have adjusted it, and the water pressure was weak. Lastly, beds were comfortable but pillows suck just like every other hotel out there. Double up or smash it up are your only options. read more

Excellent hotel for the value. Stayed in room # 501 for two nights in mid May 2008. Free parking, free high speed internet access, free hot breakfast, indoor pool, free afternoon freshbaked cookies... Lobby: Very clean and two free internet workstation with printers. Couches and couple of flat screen TVs. Room: Very clean room and bathroom, my room had brand new microwave and fridge. Bathroom: Also very clean, not too dated sink and bath. Lots of towels. On Tuesday evening at 5pm, they had free snacks (chicken wings, meatball, various cheese, fruits, crackers, ice tea) at the lobby. Service wise it was helpful and friendly. Room was neat, pool and Jacuzzi were ok as well. You have to sign a waiver saying the second time there is a noise complaint they'll get the police to remove you, which I thought that's good because several hotels I've stayed at happened to have wild partiers making sleep impossible. What I didn't like was being locked out inadvertently and coming back after 10pm and the lady at the front desk ignoring me standing at the sliding glass doors to the lobby while she chats away on the phone. This was the evening shift, sad that good help is hard to find and the lady with the wild hair couldn't bother to answer and verify my name and room so she could let me in. I was not able to sleep here because every half hour the heater would clank or tick arrhythmically or rev up/down. I used my normal trick of setting the fan to "on" instead of "auto", but that wasn't enough. I could have shut the heater off, but it was cold and the sheets/blankets were unwieldy so I often got a draft under them. It's a shame because the room was dark enough and I didn't hear noises from other rooms, which are my most common hotel issues. The room was also not as clean as I would like: hair in shower stall, thick dust in the vent, black spots on wall, and the tv face was covered in streaks. If I had gotten a good night's sleep none of that would have mattered, but instead I'm starting the day bleary-eyed. read more

It's perfectly understandable that the hotel has a boiler down and no hot water. It's not acceptable to keep your guests up to date on your efforts to get it fixed! 2 days with no hot water or explanation. I stayed here in mid-January. The hotel seemed to be in a nice enough area, easy access to the main roads through town. There is a grocery store across the street if you happened to have forgotten anything (as well as a small convenience store next to the front desk area). The complimentary breakfast was very nice. A few hot items each day, and the standard assortment of cold foods/fruits. Juice, milk, coffee, tea... The room was very nice, but for as nice as this hotel and the amenities are, they really need to shell out the extra $ for the nice toilet paper! This stuff was like 1-ply Scott Tissue. It was horrible! That's really the only complaint I have...toilet paper. This could have been a 5 star review with a little Cottonelle. /sigh. The bed was comfortable, the TV was large, the "wet bar" area was nice (with frig). I didn't have any issues with their WiFi...watched Netflix on my Netbook while lounging in bed! Oh...the other thing that annoys me is when hotels don't really have information on who will deliver to their location. Task someone with calling local delivery shops and asking them! I'm giving three stars solely compared to our experience at other Hampton inn and suites around the country. It was clean and the staff were friendly/helpful but the room still smelled of smoke as others have mentioned in reviews. I asked specifically for a non-smoking room and the concierge told me the entire hotel was non-smoking... However there was still a very musty smell to our room and much of the hotel. The parking lot was secured by a gentleman who approached us in the parking lot and helped us with our bags up to the room late at night. This was nice, but at the time totally creeped us out because he did not introduce himself as an employee right away. The following morning at breakfast my noticeably pregnant wife asked if there were luggage carts, and the woman at the desk pointed out where they could be found but never offered to have one brought up to our room as would have normally been customary. All in all not a bad place to stop over - but not the best experience we have had at a Hampton for the price. read more

I don't usually yelp unless it was a great experience. Last evening changed my mind. This is the second visit here. This hotel doesn't come close to the Hampton Inn standards. Old, outdated furniture, loud rattling a/c units, hair in the shower AND towels. Gag. I am here on business frequently. Last night I arrived and the clerk at the desk was obviously on a personal call. I tried to get eye contact, but she would not acknowledge me. I was standing there with a suitcase, backpack and additional bag as she continued with her personal call. When she finally hung up, she acted like I was an inconvenience, and not remotely welcoming, warm or friendly. I was planning to spend 10+ nights a month here for the next 3 months at $160+ per night. Management, your clerk on duty at 6pm July 9th has cost you some revenue. I won't be back and will give another accommodating hotel my hard earned money. read more

I got trapped in a wicked snowstorm on my way home from vacation, and the wife found this place on her phone. We got a reasonable price for an excellent room. On a recent trip to Frederick for a stay of several nights, I was going to stay at the Holiday Inn by the mall, but someone else recommended this Hampton Inn instead. Seeing as how this place was a little cheaper than the Holiday Inn, I decided to give it a try. My initial impression was very positive - free cookies upon check-in, a big pretty lobby, free and decently working WiFi 'net access, a clean and reasonably spacious room with a fridge and microwave, other guests that looked like business people or wedding parties and not like bums, and proximity to a grocery store and some fast food eateries just across the street. I would have initially given this place four stars, but over the course of a several days stay, a few things cropped up that made me rank this joint as more an average three-star business hotel. Number one problem was the free breakfast. I realize it is 'free" but the quality of some of the food items, such as the muffins, the eggs and the fruit, is not great. I have had similar "free" hotel breakfasts at hotels like Comfort Inn and it usually tastes better. To make matters worse, the staff handling the breakfast were not very helpful. One morning the waffles were sticking in the wafflemaker. Those of us who have used such wafflemakers (the same model actually) at other hotels know that means it's time for a spritz of nonstick spray, which one normally must do every 5-10 waffles or so. However, the staff lady insisted that no spray was needed and only dug under the counter and found a can when another guest (who'd just watched some poor old guy trying to dig his waffle loose for 5 minutes) insisted. Another morning, the staff was apparently in a hurry for people to finish breakfast. It's supposed to end at 10 am, yet at 10 minutes to 10 am, the help came out and started taking the pastry trays away while people were still trying to get food. Like it would kill them to wait until 10 am sharp? I would also note that the breakfast on weekdays and weekends ends at the same time, 10 am, whereas other places I have stayed have the free breakfast out till 11 am on Saturday and Sunday, in recognition of the fact that people like to sleep in on those days. I also witnessed another guest being told "NO" when he asked for some more fruit, and further witnessed there being absolutely no trays for the food on Labor Day Monday while the help stood around 10 feet from the food counters and talked about one of their doctor's appointments (like I need to hear that over breakfast - at least have the decency to go in the pantry or break room or whatever) and whined about how they weren't getting paid on the holiday (which I supposed is why they decided to take it out on everybody trying to get food by not putting out the trays?) Other nits about this place include that the front door is locked after a certain hour and you cannot even get in with a guest key, but must go around to the side. We tried to get in the front door too late on our first night and the janitor let us in, then yelled at us for coming in the wrong door. Way to be welcoming to your guests, bozo. Finally, the cable channels do not include either Turner Classic Movies or American Movie Channel, which sucks as I like to watch old movies while staying in hotels. And, we did not see any more free cookies or afternoon snacks or anything during the four days of our stay, nor was there any announcement at the desk or in our room as to what times these snacks might be available. Conclusion: This place might be OK for a business meeting but next time I'm on a family or pleasure trip, I think I'll check out the Holiday Inn like I planned in the first place, and see if I can get some better service for my money. read more

removing the ashtrays from a room does NOT make it a non smoking room. Yes, even if you put up signs and call it a non smoking room - IT IS NOT !!! That is like putting up a sign on one end of the pool that says "no peeing zone". It was apparent that my room has been smoked in either against the rules of the hotel or that it was still lingering from the times that it was not yet a non smoking room. I would wager that it takes 12 months, a new coat of paint, new carpet and completely new furniture before I would call it a non smoking room. There was even a cigarette burn mark in the carpet right next to the bed. I was there one night on business and had a meeting early the morning after i checked out. The terrible night i had after sleeping in the nicotine and tar infested room was NOT made up for by a wonderful and tasty breakfast. Scrambled eggs ? Were those even eggs at all ? I would not be this harsh writing this review if I had not paid $130 for the night. In this price category things like these are simply NOT ACCEPTABLE. I travel all over the country for business and I hope that this was most definitely my last night in a Hampton Inn. read more
