My family and I have recently experienced hardship in finding a place to live and have been going from one hotel to another. Having a room with the firm comfortable bed and fluffy pillows was just what we needed. I have back issues and I absolutely love this mattress! The staff here are very nice and inviting! The free breakfast is very good and gives you what you need to start your day. My only issue here is that the hallways have a very strong ammonia smell, I'm guessing from it being pet friendly but for me it's not enough of an issue to rate it any less than a 5 star. Maybe as a suggestion put those glade or febreeze deodorizer sprays in the hallways? But thank you guys for such a nice stay. I hope we can check in with you guys again. read more

This place was a huge disappointment. We use to stay at Best Westerns all the time but no more. The parking lot had a group of guys drinking in between cars. The side entrance to our room worked after the third try then you walk into an outdated dirty hallway. No elevator so we had to lug all of our stuff from a two week road trip a flight of stairs. The second floor smelled like weed and cigarettes. All of the doors stick so all you hear all night and morning is slamming doors. The bathroom in our room was so small you almost have to step into the tub to close the bathroom door. And the bathroom was disgusting. Hair on the tub floor, the stopper was set out next to the drain, the shelf's where shampoo and conditioner would go were dirty. Mold on the ceiling like I've never seen before (certainly not in a hotel). And the buildup of crap in the corners of the bathroom floor tell you the floors had never been properly cleaned. The carpets were dirty and outdated and the sink and countertop were dusty. The only saving grace was the beds were clean and comfortable. I will never stay at a Best Western again if they are okay with this standard. It's not even a two star, it's a half star hotel and certainly it worth the price we paid. read more

I am a LOYAL BW stayer because they're always clean, have good breakfasts, and comfy beds. This location is a struggle for me. I don't get the impression that it was fully booked but somehow we ended up in a room facing the highway. Unless EVERY OTHER ROOM is full, this shouldn't happen. The windows are so old, single pane, and it sounded like we were camping on the interstate. There was also no lotion in our room. The beds and sheets weren't as nice as most BW. I wouldn't recommend staying here even if you're loyal to them. But our room was clean! read more

I am loyal customer and fan of big western, however this location probably was not up to standards as the other best westerns i have been to. I will echo some of the other responses people have said. Pros: Overall the room was decent size for 2 travelers for a king bed. The bed was comfortable. Location is great, very close to town and close to cvs. Workers are friendly. Tv was functioning, fridge, coffee maker. Breakfast is included Cons: Seems like they have gone under renovation but the building appears very old and worn out. There are some fancy pieces in the room that dont look like it necessarily belongs there like the lamp. The bathroom is very small and crowded, even with the sink outside. The floor of the bathroom looks very old and the walls are peeling off. It was not comfortable. The walls are very thin and the room beside us we could hear the tv on the entire night. Breakfast food had alot of variety but the waffles tasted different. Overall would not come here again but will continue to give best western another shot. read more

I was skeptical about staying here as there were mixed reviews, the most accurate way to put it is, you get what you pay for. We were allowed to check-in early which was nice. The parking lot wasn't very crowded. We were greeted pretty quickly upon entering the lobby. Check-in was a minor process because the clerk on duty was recently hired and by himself. The room was smaller than other Best Westerns I've stayed at. The sink is outside of the bathtub/toilet area. The bathroom is small. The paint was peeling in the bathroom, but overall the room seemed neat. Only during the hours of 11PM-5AM were the side entrances of the hotel locked, a room key was not required, which was definitely unsettling. The hallway to our room smelled like weed. During our stay, I saw smokers right outside the building several times. Breakfast was a grab and go. The paper bag consisted of a clementine, strawberry yogurt, water bottle and muffin (+napkins and a spoon). The clerks during my duration were accommodating and provided extra towels, soap etc. One of the ice machines was broken, so the clerk showed me where another one. If you're just looking for a room to sleep and shower, this is the right place. It was also incredibly close to historic Frederick MD. 8 minutes! read more

Yep, this Best Western got a 4, and a solid 4 too. Brittany at the front desk was the smile I needed after 4 hours of driving with the kids in the car and the dog trying to ride shotgun from Pittsburgh to Frederick. She helped me secure a better room, which was sweet. Parking was free and room was super clean. Property is close to what you'd need. Bed is on the firmer side, which I like. Pull out sofa was needed and appreciated. Breakfast featured DIY Waffle Station so the kids loved that. The rest is what you'd expect for a Free Breakfast. What matters to me is the service, cleanliness, value and location. This BW has those checked off for sure. Thanks again Brittany! read more

My fiancé and I had went to this hotel this past weekend. Can I just say take a look at the images. All my luggage and clothes now smell like smoke. I got sick from the smell. There's mold, stains ridden everywhere, and the ac barely worked. I've never had such a worse experience! Bathroom was meant for children. Parking lot barely had any spots. We got locked out of our room because our card was quote "ruined because we put a cell phone near it"....the room card was outside the whole day not near a cell phone. Although there are signs to not smoke inside it clearly is not being acknowledged. Please AVOID this place. read more

I feel horrible that I almost ruined our weekend with this HORRIBLE motel. I am trying my best not to be cheap and I am always looking to save monies. However, I'd rather spend for comfort than go through what we went through especially since I wanted to make a road trip fun. People, do not go cheap unless you have no choice or just don't care. The photos must've been from when they first opened up as it is not that pretty. The pool...... What pool!!!! Very dirty whole with a fence around it. The worst hotel ever! Terrible small, pillows. Hard mattresses as well as for the sofa sleeper. Very, very small bathroom as the sink is on the outside of the bathroom right next to the desk. There is no elevator in this building at all although there are two floors. So do not bring anything heavy or alot of suitcases. The A/C blows out warm air although it says 65. Hideous breakfast. Employees lie for events to go in their favor, when informed another from someone else. Record everything when you talk to them for liability and future reference. We will never stay nor recommend this hotel chain ever. It's the pits!!!!! read more

We stayed here to meet up with family on a road trip. It was easily one of the worst nights' sleep I've ever had- across three continents. Our queen bed sagged in the middle, so we rolled into each other all night long. There was a plastic mattress cover that crinkles when you move. The pillows were horrific and the room was dirty. Here are pics of a contact lens stuck to the sink, our dirty shower and a pic missing from the wall. Worst of all: my friend who was staying next door saw and heard random men and women climbing in and out of the room next to him. All night he had people climbing in and out of the first-floor window next door. Adults, not kids. Our local family said this place has a reputation for being rented by the hour- WHAT A DUMP! Recently had the pleasure of a 12-night stay. This Best Western is well-tended. Husband and wife team. They actually clean together! 43 years proudly married. Loving, kind, very nice people who do not speak English but know the language of hospitality very well! Diverse foreign staff that smiles ALOT! Young staff at front desk American. Now, people tend to knock young people, well I could not have found a more better example of the best front desk anywhere! So helpful I just had to tip them all and hope you will too! In fact each weekend the hotel was BOOKED to CAPACITY, spoke w returning guests, and I can see why they come back - I want to return too! read more

We stayed here on our way through MD recently after we got a great deal on Priceline. It was conveniently located and the facilities were fine. When we arrived after 11 pm, absolutely exhausted, I went in alone to check in while my family waited in the car. The lobby was empty except for the man working at the registration desk, who assumed I was single and began aggressively flirting with me immediately. I awkwardly laughed it off. He pointed out that I was writing my phone number on the registration papers and asked if he could call me on it. I tried to laugh it off again, but then he asked a second time if he could call me. He now had my name, address, phone number, room number, and a master key. If I'd been alone, frankly, I would have been terrified. As it was, I was extremely uncomfortable. When I told him that I was married, he still didn't finish my registration. Instead, he went on and on about how he "was made to look at beautiful things" like me, flowers, and other women. He went on to say that when "beautiful women" stand in front of him, he "must try" with them. I got the impression that he treated his workplace as his own private singles bar, which is exactly what he did that night. It was both unnerving and infuriating - all I wanted was a clean, quiet place to sleep after a very long day. Fortunately my husband finally came in about that time to see why I had been gone for such a long time. Interestingly, as soon as he walked into the lobby, the employee turned into a helpful, efficient hotel clerk and we *finally* were able to check in and get to a room. In short, the man's behavior was incredibly inappropriate. I felt very uncomfortable and would have felt unsafe had I been alone. We will not return to this hotel. read more

The hotel is small, but clean and well maintained. Upon arrival we were greeted by the nicest staff. They confirmed our Hotels.com reservation. They fixed the error from smoking to non- smoking. We had a king suite on the 2nd floor. It was clean and cool! The room decore is modern and welcoming. The breakfast had a nice variety and was good. The waffles are golden! The service was responsive when we requested pillows and an extra blanket. The pool was clean outdoors. It is located next to a mall and convenient to the highway! All in all a great stay. The smallest most efficient bathroom ever. Shower was hot and strong but, the bathroom is really small only a toilet and tub. But it was a wonderful stay you enjoy the rest and amenities. Not happy with the smell... The smoking rooms even though on the other other side of the building stink up the rest if the rooms. The hotels ventilation should be handling that kind of thing. I stay here every year at least once. The hotel is large and in a nice area but everything is not always up to snuff. The staff is friendly though often with some language barriers. The rooms are large. The bathrooms are very small. The pull outs are dirty and most of the sheets and towels are stained. The walls are thin so you may get crazy neighbors. People smoke outside all the doors so it's not nice for kids and babies. The breakfast is good and offer a lot of fresh fruit. The area is just outside downtown and offers access to a lot of things to do. If your in this area visit Ambassador Baptist Church just 1 minute from the hotel. The sales manager at the desk Had the personality and professionalism of a one star property. They charged me $20 to check in at 1:30 instead of 3. I've never ever been charged an early check in fee in the hundred hotels I've stayed in all over the country and in Europe. The mattresses were floppy and I saw black spots. The swimming pool was small and water was clear but tile in it had grungy film that needed cleaning. The female sales manager did not appear to care. Great area right off the highway. Super friendly staff to greet us as soon as we walked in. Jen and Ry were such a fun welcome team. Staff was mostly friendly, and even when not the most friendly, they were helpful. Asked for blankets for my 4 year old, and we got one with no less than 10 cigarette burns throughout it. Went down to the front desk to ask for another ( I was super nice about it I promise). The night desk person didn't seem even a little surprised, and remarked that they might not have another. Luckily they did. In general it seems like the place needs some dough for some minor renovations, but is doing the best with what they have. There is definitely a smokey smell throughout the building, so if that's a deal breaker, pick another spot. Breakfast was great. Gotta say they do a good job with that. And again, most of the staff was friendly and nice to be around. For the price, it's not a disappointment. With a little TLC in the place I'd be willing to pay more. read more

Yes it is as it claims. An inexpensive quick overnight to get to where you're going. We stayed there one night before a Tough Mudder competition. We forgot our paperwork but they had a computer/printer that actually worked and saved our butts. Unfortunately the event was cancelled early that morning. Something to note however was that the hotel staff set up an additional continental breakfast room to accommodate for the overflow of people who ended up staying at the hotel instead of attending the event. They get a big A-OK for that and the free wi-fi. read more

Everything was clean enough, and in good working order...front desk staff was professional, and the breakfast was pretty good (although the "dining room" got fairly cramped). It's a bit dated in places - no elevator (only 2 stories, though), and the bathroom was tiny. Also, there's nothing much in the immediate area, and a bit of a hike from the downtown area - right nearby, there's a small strip mall with a Chinese place, a CVS, and a shady-looking convenience store...and not much else. read more

Very nice, friendly staff. Parking lot is small, and after dark you may have to park in the waay back parking lot, among the many freight containers parked there for some reason. The Front Desk woman Kim was so nice, and went above and beyond to find me a parking spot near the front of the building. Motel is in a good spot, right off the main drag, and has a 24 hour CVS, gas stations and other places in the area. The room was old, but they are remodeling and updating. The light didn't work in the bathroom, but by the second day they had fixed one of the two fluorescent bulbs in there, so you could at least see your face in the mirror. The shower curtain rod was broken and falling down. It's a curved shape, so because the ends were broken, the shower curtain falls to that lowest curve, and basically, stays wide open except in the very middle. There was an alarm clock on the bedstand, and I was thrilled to see it had two USB charging ports... until I realized all the guts of the clock were missing and there was no actual charger plug-ins inside. Not sure why, but someone had definitely taken it apart and removed the electronics. The fridge cabinet was rotting away from moisture, but the renovation plans are displayed in the lobby, so that should be gone soon. All the pillows were super tiny on a king sized bed. This seems to be the norm since we stayed at 3 Best Westerns this trip in three different states, and they all had the tiny pillow thing going. I don't understand why they're using tiny throw pillows for the bed, but we'd rather have regular sized pillows. Room was nothing special, but I'd stay again just because of the nice staff and convenient location. Breakfast bar area had a pretty limited type of food, for example the eggs were pre-made, probably frozen/thawed/heated 'omelets' that were probably fake eggs with fake cheese inside. Not good. If I'm gonna eat fake eggs, make them scrambled so it's not as obvious, and don't make me eat the cheese... lots of people are lactose intolerant. There was no bacon, grits, or biscuits and gravy like the two other BW's we stayed in this trip, but they did have sausage patties, and good supply of toast and muffins and stuff. All in all, I'd stay here again. read more

We stayed here this past weekend as part of a large group in town for a family event. Our room was dingy, and poorly kept. Everything in this property is in need of updating and there is a smell that I am guessing stems from the smoking still allowed in some of the rooms. Our room had 2 double beds and there was staining on the sheets (EWWW!) Our ceiling had holes in it and the bathroom was incredibly small (actually the smallest I have ever seen) and the tub was also stained. Despite having been "cleaned" it just felt gross. For the price, I felt completely ripped off. We stayed only 1 night (originally had planned to stay 3) It was a horrible night of "sleep" as there was a golf group also staying at the property that spent the night running around the floor having a drunken party. The staff was frequently seen smoking outside the front door and it just looked unprofessional. It is convenient right off the highway but not worth the heebie-jeebies. read more

This is just like any other Best Western in any other place you can find them. This is the second time staying in this particular hotel. The rooms are clean, the free breakfast is exactly what you'd expect for free. Nothing super rememberable, but perfectly in my budget of free. And the price point for the night was good. My issue is with the bathrooms. Holy guacamole is it SMALL. Now I realize that it's hard to update a room structure, knocking down and putting up walls isn't always a possibility. This review is more for awareness. If you are a person of size, as I am, perhaps a different hotel is for you. If you are at all afraid of small spaces, perhaps this hotel isn't for you. If the idea of showering in a room that feels like it's the size of a coffin is exciting, then perhaps this hotel IS for you. read more

The best part of the Hotel are the staff. Brittany and Kim went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. Both were extremely friendly and helpful. We spent one night at the Best Western. The halls smelled of smoke and marijuana which seeped into the room all night. The room was loud (it sounded like the window was open all night, this also let more marijuana smell enter the room). There were two sheets with a very thin blanket in between them, which forced us to turn up the heat to stay warm. The tv turned on and stayed stuck on half of a picture that someone else previously watched, the remote wouldn't change the picture or sound. The room had no tissues. The bed was old and not comfortable. The headboard had hand prints all over it. It was very disappointing as far as staying at a Best Western goes. read more

** Delayed review of a visit in late October ** Stayed here five nights due to a work related training opportunity. Arrived late on a Sunday night. Location is great; US 15, I 70/I 270 transition nearby. Eateries nearby, some a small drive away. There is a food store and liquor store just down the road. I'm a Marriott guy, but could not grab a deal because of limited per diem. I must say, I left impressed with this Best Western. Upon checking in I was welcomed by the desk clerk! Given detailed directions to my room and where I should park; information about breakfast properly advertised. Parking is plenty, outside lighting is decent. However, no guarantee to be close to the entrance to where your room is on a daily basis. Room was superb! Clean and organized... could not find anything wrong! Very hot water when needed. In room refrigerator kept drinks cold. During my five night stay, I always had fresh towels, a properly made bed (plenty of comfy pillows), and the trash was taken out. All done without a request! Attention to detail at its best! I cannot speak for the breakfast this establishment offered. I departed each day to show up to my training with what I brought to eat for breakfast. Misc. comments for management: Noticed many folks hanging out in the parking lot, like it's a hang out. Not a good thing as folks need to feel safe and comfortable. I didn't feel threatened (I take care of me), but older folks may shy away. Upon my early morning checkout, the Frederick Police where there. Larger vehicles (contractor/construction types) should park as to not interfere with regular vehicles navigating the parking area. I would stay here again if I'm in the area. read more

This whole hotel smelled of funky feet! Luckily the inside of our room didn't. The pillows look like small couch pillows. Had to use almost 3 of them to equal one! No real blankets, just a thin cheap fabric one with a sheet thrown on top. At least buy the fake down alternative blanket if you can't afford real down comforters. No soda machine on the second floor. You have to walk all the down to the first floor to get a drink. Bathroom is way too small for comfort. If you are handicapped or use a wheelchair, or crutches make sure you ask for a room on the first floor since they don't have an elevator. Won't be staying here again. read more

Great staff Chris was especially helpful. Breakfast above average awesome coffee. The facility is older but well maintained clean and comfortable. We noticed a slight stale smoke smell. Both printers in the computer room were broken. The staff offered to print our boarding passes. read more

As Best Westerns go, this was pretty good. I read the yelp reviews about the smells and that prompted me to call the front desk before making my reservations. I ask the lady if that smell was still around... She informed me that they did renovations to the building and that the smell was gone. She was right. I disagree that any hotel should be "pet friendly" but this place is. Management did take care of my concerns whether it was my climate control unit, adjusting an improperly installed faucet or figuring out why I couldn't connect to WiFi. The customer service was good. The fridge worked well. The price was reasonable. They need to add a big sign at the front so people don't get lost. Very minor stuff, this place almost earned a 5 star rating. read more

Stayed here two nights. Price was great. Honored the mobile app discount but then asked if we have AAA and we do so staff member told me that it would be cheaper that way which was nice of him. We got a king suite with couch, fridge, microwave, etc. Room was clean and had nice décor. Wifi worked fine. Breakfast more than adequate. Late checkout at noon instead of 11 is nice. I recently stayed at this Best Western for corporate training. After having read the reviews I was a little apprehensive but it's where they were putting me up so I just went with it. I arrived around 8 pm and was greeted nicely. Went to check out my room and immediately smelled a mildewy smell. I went to the air conditioner and that was the source. It had very obviously been a while since it was cleaned but everything else in the room was very clean. I went to the desk and told him I couldn't stay in there due to my allergies, explained the situation and the gentleman was very apologetic and immediately changed my room. The second room was very clean as well and there was no odor. Be bathroom is small but it's fine since it is just the toilet and shower/tub in there. Bed was okay, but considering the location and the price, it was fine. Rooms have a coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave. Limited television channels but again, it was fine as I didn't have much time for television. Continental breakfast left something to be desired but again, I'm not complaining too bad because it was paying for work. It had a make your own waffle station, scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, biscuits and gravy, toast and pastries as well as coffee, tea, orange juice and apple juice. Overall satisfied with the hotel, but likely won't stay again because it's so close to my home. read more
