When I called about my prescription expiring on 11/26, I scheduled the next available appointment for 12/30, which meant I would be without contacts for 13 days and needed a few sample lenses to bridge the gap since I couldn't purchase more with an expired prescription. When I requested samples, the receptionist was dismissive and offered no help. When I asked if she could check with Dr. Chin, she replied--in a tone that made me feel as if I should have known better--that he was with patients all day. I explained that I understood, but hoped she could ask him at some point when he wasn't actively with a patient. Despite this, she never followed up. I emailed the office today, following up on my call from Monday, explaining the terrible experience I had with the woman I spoke with and again asking that my message be passed along to Dr. Chin, as he deserves to know why a long-time patient is leaving. And once again--no response. At the very least, a response to my email should have been a basic professional courtesy, but I didn't receive any acknowledgment whatsoever. Do better, front office at Andover Eye. After reading other reviews of AEA, there seems to be a consistent theme of dissatisfaction with the front desk staff. It's surprising that nothing has been done to address it, and it makes me wonder whether the doctors are even receiving this feedback. I hope this message ultimately reaches Dr. Chin. He has always been excellent, but the lack of support and communication from the front desk ultimately led me to seek care with a new provider. On a positive note, I want to give a shout-out to the optical office staff--they have consistently been terrific.

I got a revision surgery on only my right eyelid back in October 2025. So to even it out he made the eyelid crease on my right eyelid to match my left eyelid. Enough time has passed to heal and see the results and I'm STILL noticing my left eyelid still droopy. I notice it in the mirror, when I'm taking a picture, I feel it still droopy and it still bothers me. I notice that on my right eyelid there is some extra skin on my inner eyelid crease that doesn't match the inner left eyelid crease. It just looks weird and I'm still self conscious about my eyelids. I look closely at the pictures I take of my eyelids and notice my left one is still droopy. I was told he fixed the levator muscle but I don't think the ptosis is fixed. I moved to California and I've seen several Ophthalmologist's here but they're not being useful.

Then they come out with we will get you an appt in our office down the street in 30 minutes. Then you drive down there and 2 mins before getting there you get a call saying can we move you out 2 hours? I said no thank you. I would never go back there and the strange thing is Mass General recommended them. I'll call Mass General to tell them how bad they are but then look at their reviews here on Yelp.

They have state of the art balance and hearing service and are accesible unlike some of the doctors in Boston that take 6 months for an appointment. No bureaucracy other than the minimum. They make you feel that they are there primarily to take care of your health issues and they are exceptionally focused on that. I came there with a self-diagnosed severe central vision loss problem and the administrative staff already acted swiftly on that on the phone by getting me an immediate appointment and I got to see the ophtalmologist superfast after prepping by the technician and the doctor spent a lot of time with me without rushing and made a spot on diagnosis (unfortunately very bad news for me) and she referred me to the best surgeon around and got me an appointment with him the next day, despite his months long booked appointment list. At the surgeon her diagnosis got confirmed and I was scheduled for surgery and treatment right away. The doctor at Arrigg Associates followed up without me asking by inquiring by phone how the visit went.. And when I got some additional issues later they were also very helpful and fast to respond. How great to have found those rare old-fashioned 'focused' and enthusiastic doctors (and all their equally good staff), we all would wish to have. I would have given them 6 stars if it were possible

I go to check in and I am about third or fourth in line; no big deal, it's a Friday afternoon, it's right after lunch, it's bound to be a little busy, right? I arrived early just incase it was indeed busy. It took me 15-20 min to just get checked in There was only one receptionist checking patients in. To me, she seemed very unpleasant, had a look on her face which clearly showed she didn't want to be there and, was just taking her time and had no sense of urgency. There was one worker who asked the receptionist if she needed help to which said receptionist said "no, I'm good". I would have totally been alright with standing in line if this receptionist didn't have the attitude that she did. Her attitude along with taking her time really put a sour taste in my mouth. After all of that, I am sitting in the waiting room. My appointment was at 1:30. Then 2:00 comes, I'm still in the waiting room - no big deal, everyone expects to wait a bit at the doctors office, right? 2:30 comes, still in the waiting room. An older gentleman asks how long I have been waiting to go in, I told him an hour and he goes to me "I've been waiting almost TWO HOURS!" Finally @ 3:00, I get called in. I get it, doctors offices are busy, 9 times outta 10 we never get called in on time, its expected. However, it's a little ridculous that I waited an HOUR AND A HALF to get called in. After I get called in, the assistant does her thing, checks your eyes, dialates them and of course, before the check up can proceed any further, the drops that dialate your eyes have to settle in, which takes about 15 minutes. I waited over ANOTHER HOUR before I got called back in. The rest of the check up proceeds and I am all set. I checked my phone, it was about 4:15. I was at the eye doctors for THREE hours for a routine eye check up. I don't know what happened that day. Maybe they were under-staffed, maybe they over-booked. Either way, this experience put a bad taste in my mouth and I am considering switching eye doctors

The first one we went to just pointed to the next window- no smile, just a finger pointing. The second one had no greeting, no smile, just a big sigh and said to the rude woman at the other desk "what are we supposed to do with these?" Then she said that she wasn't going to do anything unless "she" was there - no idea who "she" is but I'm guessing it's a supervisor. So, another big sigh and said to me,"well, I'm not doing this so we'll have to call you later". I asked why I couldn't make the next appointment for my parent and she said, "she's not here and I'm not doing anything unless she says ok". Again, no idea who "she"'is. I asked for them to call me to schedule the appointment and she slapped a piece of paper down and said, "what number" so I gave it to her. 24 hours later still no call so I called the office and the very nice man who I spoke with said that they booked the appt already. I explained that they were supposed to call me and we never got a call, and that time was extremely inconvenient and we cannot make that time. He apologized but said that's all there is and there is no waiting or cancellation list but I could call back every day. So, while the medical staff is fantastic, the office staff needs some training on being friendly, as well as flexibility in scheduling. Rating is really 5 stars for doctor and nursing staff and 1 star for office staff.

But, besides the excellent quality of his glasses, is the way he treats his customers. And he absolutely stands behind his work. Customer service is king and if you want the extra TLC, I highly recommend Todd. Don't be fooled into getting the cheapest glasses you can find. I completed them and after waiting another 15-20 minutes I was told they could only do an exam for glasses and I would have to schedule an additional appt for contact lens fitting because the only person capable of doing this works on only two days. Why was I not scheduled with that person initially since I told the office I was coming in for contact lenses and glasses. What chaos and disorganization. I left after wasting more than 90 minutes between travel and waiting. I will not waste time doing business with such a sloppy practice. Don't waste your time, go somewhere else.

I spoke with insurance and they confirmed--ended up costing me hundreds of dollars. They always would tell me I needed an exam, even when I had already had one recently. I just had to call them again for my RX information so I could order online. Guy on the phone told me it expired and I can't order lenses anywhere. I reminded him that all RXs are extended due to covid. He told me I was wrong and I missed the grace period. I called Visionworks immediately after. They said RX was still good due to covid. Contacts are already in the mail. Again, nice enough people when you see them, but they tell me I need an exam literally every time I speak to them, or they charge me full for lenses and ignore my benefits. Will not go here again.
