Towson Diner is such a staple piece for Towson. I've been here for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and that after-bar snack with you get with your friends when you aren't ready to go home. The service is quick and the food is always delicious. Keep in mind though that this is a diner and not to expect fine dining. That being said, it never disappoints! My favorite thing to get, by far, is the chocolate chip pancakes. But they do make a pretty mean burger, too. It honestly tastes like their food is made with love (or a whole lot of butter, which is basically the same thing). The last time I went here was with a large party, there were eight of us, and they were very accommodating. We were sat almost immediately upon arriving, ordered after a few minutes, and must have received our food in record speed for how many of us there were. Me & a friend were staying at the Sheraton for the weekend (4/20/23-4/23/23). We were hungry and didn't want mall food. A quick Google search uncovered Towson Diner really close (walking distance). I'm glad we didn't walk cause we stayed so long when we came out it was raining. The server was funny & sooo nice. He kept checking on us and we kept ordering lol. We both ordered breakfast, and it was on our table in 10 minutes or so. She had an omelet, and I had scrambled eggs with pepper jack cheese, (1st time trying with pepper jack), 4-5 strips of delicious bacon, 2 pancakes & a side of ham. I bought the pancakes home cause I was rather full. I was dying for coffee since the coffee from the coffee maker at the hotel almost made me spit up (nasty). I had several free refills, and I appreciated that. My friend ordered a desert and something to take back for her husband. Other guests came in sat across from us and played the jukebox (we didn't turn ours on). We enjoyed their music. We sat and talked (& I drank so many coffee refills) that they thought we would be there for dinner, but nobody rushed us out. It's your typical diner. You go for the experience not necessarily for the great food. It's the standard fare offering essentially everything. The service is quick and attentive. The food is okay. I've been multiple times and I always eat because the food is in front of me but not because it's delicious or life changing. Went to grab a bite last night, the food was disgusting. I've eaten there several times and usually always good. Last night when I asked for mayo for my sand which the waitress brought me sour cream that looked like mayo disgusting. My sons hamburger tasted like a piece of beef that was old and not fresh. Been here a million times , solid food from breakfast to Dinner to late night when they were open. Unfortunately they are barely open anymore after 9pm when they were open almost 24 hrs . A group of us decided to drop by for a late night bite after going to the Irish Festival. Noting online that they closed at midnight, we arrived shortly before 11pm only to be turned away by a surly bunch of wait staff standing around arms folded. Today I visited the Towson Diner. I got an old classic favorite of mine- a grilled cheese sandwich and fries. It was good and just what I needed after getting blood work done. But what really made the trip memorable was the owner, Nick. When I went up to check out the desserts, I asked for assistance in finding a dessert without any peanuts. Nick was so helpful! He showed me all the desserts I could eat and when I was still a little unsure, he called his baker to make sure I felt 100% safe eating the dessert (chocolate cream pie). He even came over and talked to my mom and I while we ate the dessert and seemed genuinely interested in having a conversation and getting to know us. You should absolutely visit this diner as the hospitality is like no other! read more

I love this place. My son , a college student, and I come here once a week for lunch, its become a habit. We have not quite eaten our way through the menu but there are a couple of favorites we come back to ...the chicken picatta (great sauce) and they customize it ; I love the lox and bagel sandwich, very generous portions; large greek salad, great hamburgers, wonderful breakfast dishes...they are clean, accommodating and very friendly. Late breakfast after a Drs. visit brought us to the diner on the way home. The wife ordered a Greek omelet and I ordered the special Bavarian Omelet. The former had feta and tomato and the latter had ham, bacon and sausage. Both were good. Since I ordered the special I tried a cup of chicken noodle soup. It was hearty and delicious. I'll be honest, since it's one of the very few places in Towson to get breakfast for lunch (the way life was meant to be lived) - it's hard to dethrone the diner. But I promise to be as impartial as possible! I have ventured here at least 10 times this year and I've yet to have anything other than breakfast food. While you may think that says more about me, you're wrong. The breakfast food is that good! Also, there's plenty of options (like various fruit, whipped cream, sides, etc) to add to your pancakes, french toast, and waffles. It makes it an endless game to try every combination. While I'm not even scrapping the barrel, I'll have to see how close I can get next year. We've had takeout from the diner probably 10 times during the COVID crisis. Honestly, we hadn't eaten there before. Man were we missing out. Everything is great here. To date, everything we've had has been awesome. But the crab cake stands alone. I'm a Marylander born and bred and have had crab cakes at all of the big names. Perhaps the Towson Diner is the metaphor for the perfectly run restaurant: customer expectations are unflappably met with surgical precision on a consistent basis. Customers rarely are wowed over anything (food, service, pricing, speediness) but nor are they consistently disappointed except sometimes by the uneven service. What would the diner experience be if not for sometimes poor service, though? The food is just what you know to expect. The service is just what you know to expect. The prices also are within expectations for 2010s Towson (it's not 1965 anymore). The only consistent negative is the tight and sometimes inadequate parking lot. Do yourself a favor and take the 2 and 3 star reviews seriously. I went here to celebrate my mother in law's birthday and I should have known by the empty parking lot that we should stay away. She heard they had good crab cakes. The waiter could barely speak English. The food took forever despite there being no one eating there. The waiter messed up the food order. I got buffalo wings and they were terrible. It's kind if hard to mess up wings so they're usually my go-to at a questionable restaurant. They were fried too hard and had a weird aftertaste like they had some strange seasoning on them. My daughter got bacon, eggs, and pancakes. The bacon tasted weird. The eggs were decent. The pancake was also decent and it was huge. Everyone else at the table got crabcakes since that's what they came there for. The crab cakes weren't too bad. They were pretty big as well. The center of them had some type of filling that had a weird taste but overall I'd give them a 6.5 out of 10. Overall went spent about $100 for 5 of us. Definitely not super cheap diner pricing but not horrible. I wont be returning here, nor will I recommend it to anyone. read more

Probably the nicest diner I've ever been to. Customer service was superb. They were knowledgeable about the whole menu and gave me great recommendations based on what I told them I liked. I ended up getting a Spanish omelette(I think that's what it's called) and the French toast. The French toast was BOMB! The omelette was ok. It had a sweet aftertaste that I wasn't used to. First time here. Ordered the baby beef Liver & onions, along with mashed potatoes/gravy. They had 3 veg available. I picked red cabbage. The liver tasted nasty. No gravy and seasoned with what tasted like Thyme and rosemary which gave it a nasty taste. Have never had liver and onions from any diner in Baltimore that was this bitter and nasty. Its been and hour and i still have that nasty terrible nasty aftertaste. Yuck!!! The red cabbage was seasoned with what tasted like vinegar nutmeg & cinnamon. Again what is with this spice they go crazy with at this place? Oh and there were orange slices garnishing the liver. That gave an even more putrid flavor. No bread came with the meal. Since this was the only thing i ever ate at this place. I have no idea what other dishes may taste like. They may have just been having a bad day. This place has sub par food and politically opinionated staff. I came here the day after the inauguration and the staff were ignoring customers, watching the television and talking about people who voted against their preferred candidate as if they were idiots. Listen, believe whatever you want politically but if it prevents you from refilling coffee, checking on your tables, and involves disparaging others then keep it to the back of the house not the front. I reluctantly still tipped even though the breakfast wasn't even that appetizing. I was passing through, so there's no reason for me to ever come back but I genuinely hope the customer service here improves. This was our first time checking out this place as we are new to the neighborhood. I had high hopes that this place would turn into our regular weekend spot. As I was looking at the menu they state you only get one refill on coffee and then they charge you for the rest. I don't know about you but I have a few cups with breakfast. They also had a time limit you can stay in the menu. Then I noticed they charge everyone a minimum of $4.25 even if you don't get anything. Towson Diner is a legit old-school diner on York Road just north of Towson center. Three of us came here for dinner on a Friday night. The wait staff was just fine, the menu is extensive. We had the flounder stuffed with crab meat which was delicious and served with enough food for two people. The souvlaki wrap was also deemed delightful and came with fries and salad. The one-egg breakfast with bacon, toast, and home fries was truly down home and delish-- especially good was the wafer thin bacon and about 7 pieces of it. There is no valet parking, filet mignon, or cloth napkins at the Towson Diner. What is there is the best diner in Baltimore County. I have frequented Towson Diner for years, so this review is a collection of observations and experiences. Enjoy! What I Like: - The menu has everything you could want! Almost too much. And it always seems dirty good! (Comfort food is at home in a diner.) - Service is quick! Always on point, especially when this joint is cranking away Sunday morning with the church crowd waiting 10-20 minutes for a booth. - Breakfast allllllllll day! Sleep that hangover off, roll out of bed at 2 pm, get your pancake-on at 3 pm. Can't beat that. What I Don't Like: - For some reason Towson Diner is challenging public dehydration head-on, and it starts with delivering glasses and glasses of water to your table or booth. Precious table space is quickly consumed. I don't want water. - Parking lot can get very squirrelly very fast, especially when that 70-year-old with the 1986 Cadillac Eldorado starts trying to back in and out of tight spots. If there's a crowd, it'll get frustrating. Like I said, it's a diner. At the end of the day, they're open 24 hours, the food is great and consistent, the place is clean and comfortable, the location is good, and they have a liqueur license. I hate having to write this review. I have been coming to this diner alnost 20 years and my mother almost 40. This was THE place to be in my late teens and early 20's when the now non existent smoking section would be packed after 2am. Tom Petty and Elton John sing alongs. Enough said. Also, regardless of our HORRIBLE experience tonight, there is one thing I have to say. Polly, who has been waitressing here for as long as I can remenber, is the most wonderful amazing person. If it wasn't for her I'd NEVER come back. Anyway, tonight the power on our neighborhood went out so we made an impromptu trip to the diner. We were seated and not thrilled with our waitress as we'd had her before but we didn't think we needed to ask for someone else. Sure she's always a bit spacey but not a big deal. I've never caught her name but she's s tall thin woman late 40s with a pixie haircut. Tonight however, she didn't come to our table for about 10 minutes. For the sake of readability I'm going to list the issues we has instead of writing then ask out. -- No one came to our table after we were seated for 10 minutes. -- The Mountain Dew I ordered was clear. The soda machine was out of syrup. My mother's gin and tonic was pink. She should have noticed these things but again, not a huge deal. She replaced the soda and my mother addressed the bar tender who was very nice, explained the pump to the seltzer also pumps the cranberry juice and one can linger in the other and topped off her drink. -- When taking our order the waitress rushed us, cut us off and walked away so quickly I had to call her back to order drinks. Now we're getting irritated. -- The kicker: when they brought the food, which had several things missing, my mother asked if it was possible to get bread and butter. The waitress NEVER RESPONDED to her. So I asked her as she started to leave if she'd heard my mother. She cut me off to tell me she had heard and began to wall away. Not even five feet from my table she shakes her head at me! She turns to go towards the back and is now walking so I can see her profile and she is rolling her eyes! Unbelievable. Now I know waitress talk shit about customers. Fine. But you NEVER do it in front of them! -- When she came back with the bread I immediately tried to address what she'd just done. I started to say "When my mother asked for bread you didn't respond, " at which point she cut me off to say she had responded. I went on to tell her that when I was simply trying to double check that she'd heard, it was completely inappropriate and wrong. First she denied doing it and than I guess she realized she was caught and she apologized. Who does that? I was NOT ride I was just making sure my mother had been heard and I get a head shake and eye roll. -- The roll she brought was rock hard and cold. Also when she sat the bread down, she ran her hand right across my mother's soup plate and took her crackers. I guess you can have cold hard bread but you have to give up your crackers! -- My swiss burger was pink on the inside and charred on the outside. -- Hair all over my three year olds bacon. -- The waitress never came back to check on our food. She did however make snide comments about our table to the table next to ours. She brought them something and they said "Such great service!" loud for us to hear to which she responded, "Yeah right!" Then when that table left she said loudly "Wish my luck with my eyes!" Sarcastically. Unreal. -- For the first time in either of our adult lives, neither my mother nor I tipped. We went to the hostess / checkout girl to get our check because the waitress never came back and we got tired of waiting. We told her what had happened and she literally just stated at us, sucking her teeth. She never said I'm sorry that happened or oh no let me get a manager or is there anything we can do or ANYTHING! She literally did not say one word! I know some places the waiters, hostesses and busers split the check but that's not my fault. Maybe if the hostess had been apologetic we would have tipped her directly. Nope. She just freaking stared. I CANNOT believe our dinner. I have never had a meal like this anywhere. I love the diner. Despite the continuously rising prices I've always stayed with them. We frequent the diner at least once a week and cannot believe people like this hostess and waitress continue to treat customers this way. I know there's been some shifting within the family of management, maybe that's the issue? Regardless, that waitress WILL cost business. If that had been our first visit we would NEVER come back! If we do come back, I'm willing my mother isn't, we will not accept that waitress. So this past weekend we were out and about doing some shopping for some minor home improvements and wanted to get a bit to eat. We didn't want to wait in line or have some supper heavy meal so we decided to give this place a try. It wasn't packed but it also wasn't empty. The atmosphere was your typical diner feel with its crisp and cool colors and nostalgia. My Husband got the baked meatloaf with 2 sides (mashed potatoes and broccoli). It also came with a side salad. The meatloaf severing was huge with about 4 large slices of meatloaf. He didn't finish the sides that came with it. Hew said it was Average/Good. I had the deluxe Gyro (pronounced yee-roh). It was filled with rotisserie meat (usually a mixture of minced beef and lamb), tomatoes, and onions, along with a yogurt-based tzatziki sauce (made with Greek-style yogurt, diced cucumbers, dill weed and a small amount of vinegar) then all wrapped up in a pita. It was then served with a Greek salad and the typical side dish of a Gyro- French Fries. Their version of a Greek salad had the lettuce (a Greek salad normally doesn't have lettuce- except in North America) plus chopped tomatoes with a few slices of cucumber, and red onion, seasoned with salt, black pepper, and oregano, feta cheese, bell peppers, kalamata olives, and dressed with olive oil and vinegar based dressing with various herbs and seasonings. The Gyro was pretty good (even though it got messy towards the end). My husband and I both agree that this place has some great fries- they were cooked perfectly (a crispy bit with the inner core smushy) and weren't over slated and didn't have an over bearing oil taste you get sometimes! We both noticed the dessert cases when we came in and thought we would try something. When I asked to see the menu the waiter suggested the easiest thing was to just get up and look- which I am glad I did... too many choices. The guy that seemed to be the owner was sitting at the counter while I was looking and he offered to help me out and took me on a tour of the desserts. There were all types of things to choose from, crme pies, cakes, baklava, turnovers, pies, cookies, tiramisu, etc. I felt a bit over whelmed- in the end I ended up with a slice of Banana Crme Pie and the thing was huge! We couldn't finish it and the waiter and the owner laughed at us when they bagged it up. Overall, the service was great, the food was good and the atmosphere was pleasing!
