One evening in Berkeley, after dinner, we searched for a dessert place to walk off our meal. We discovered Hui Lau San, which has limited seating. Only one staff member was working, and orders were made at a kiosk, as is common today. Many to-go orders were visible. The staff was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the coconut jelly with mango, which was delicious, along with the coconut jelly with rice. The sago with coconut milk had a delightful flavor. I would love to return and explore more of their menu.
I always enjoy coming here for a good mango coconut sago. The place is small with limited seating so I would consider it most mostly a two go spot but if you get lucky, you can have a small group sit there. They are very quick to serve you and their drink drinks are very refreshing. I've tried multiple items on the list and I liked them all, but I really enjoy going there specifically for the mango sago. Of course it's downtown Berkeley so parking can be tough but usually when we go there we've gone somewhere else before so it's not an issue. They are a self order location unless you need help they will help you.
Really good and fast service. Mine as shown below is ordered through fresh daily made at Weee! It is so sad that they closed sister stores in Asia such as those ones in Hong Kong. The fast food cafe like atmosphere also reminds me of happy, carefree days as a Cal student so I will keep ordering and supporting them. The best thing about Asian dessert is that the taste and sugar level is always "just right" and never too sweet!
This Hong Kong style dessert shop is amazing. It's been years since I been to one. Ihe coconut jelly with mango is out of this world. The delicate coconut flavor with an incredibly rich, creamy, and velvety texture is out of this world. The fresh chunks of mango mixed in with the bouncy coconut jelly is just amazing. The location is modest at best. I've been to other stores where it's much nicer but the desserts are all exceptionally good regardless of the store. This is one of my favorite places for dessert, so good I would go out of my way just to get it.
The durian boba was pretty good. I could smell the durian from the cup. The durian is not super strong, to be expected from a boba that isn't like really expensive. But I liked the taste and mix of textures. I ordered on the ipad and sat at the table inside which is nice. Though I guess they're probably filled up quickly when the place is more busy.

Mango Coconut Noodle: 4.5/5 - the base was a mango slush on the icier side, with a mango ice cream scoop (very frozen), coconut noodles, and mango chunks. This was very refreshing and not-too-sweet. The coconut noodles paired well with the slush and added a bouncy, slightly chewy experience. In retrospect, I think I was more so craving the coconut jelly with a side of mango rather than a mango forward dessert, but this still hit the spot. C5. Durian Pancake: 5/5 - The pancake was a thin green crepe that wrapped around a stabilized cream with a small, but potent amount of durian at the center that permeated every bite. It was perfectly not too sweet, creamy, and fruity/vanilla-y in the way durian is. Would recommend for durian fans. Would come again when I'm in the area!
Authentic tasting Chinese dessert drinks. They seem to love mangos here, as most drinks here have mangos in it. So, the 3 stars is for 2 reasons. One, the slow service and number 2 the inability to customize drinks such as less sugar. The drink is super sweet and some things are premade like the bases. The coconut cream was cold and delicious but once again the mango and the rest of the drink was waaayyy too sweet for me. I'm sure it has more if not the same amount of sugar as a liter of Coca Cola.

I got their mango sago drink and mango mochi, and both were super high-quality, they did not skimp with any of the mango pulp or mango fruit pieces in the drink and it was so absolutely delicious. It tasted super fresh and was made with care and attention. The mango mochi were soft pillowy pieces of thin crepe skin filled with cream with a little bit of mango in the center. It was barely sweet, which is the Chinese way and I absolutely love that. I think its super rare to find a quality drink shop where the drink and snacks quality are so high when it comes to mango. I think a lot of boba places in the Bay Area use still raw, unripe mango pieces and also dilute their mango drinks with tons of ice and still charge premium prices for them for little pieces of mango, but here they do not skimp on quality or quantity, while maintaining affordable prices. The quality is so high and the prices are so affordable for what they provide. So absolutely delicious, I will be back here as often as I can.

I got the Mango Crystal Jelly Cup and my friend got the Pomelo & Mango with Sago. Both were super refreshing and not overly sweet. Loved the mango smoothie base and the mango ice cream on top (more like sherbet texture). Mango chunks were a bit tart, but it's off-season so no biggie. Only complaint is the jelly was super long and slippery, makes it hard to scoop with their spoons. My friend's had coconut milk and pomelo in it, and she really liked it too!
I love this place! My husband and I ordered through Snackpass because it was our first time using the app, and I believe we got 5% off -- though I'm not entirely sure. We ordered the Passion Fruit Mango Icy and Mango & Coconut with Crystal Jelly, and we loved both drinks. The passion fruit mango is perfect for a hot day, especially after a heavy or oily meal -- it's so refreshing and really helps cleanse the palate. The mango & coconut is an amazing combination; the mango and crystal jelly balance out the richness of the coconut perfectly, creating a well-rounded, delicious drink that you have to try. The sweetness is just right -- not too sweet, which I really appreciate. The shop itself is quite small with limited seating, so it's more of a pick-up-and-go spot. The service was decent -- not over-the-top, but good enough for a quick stop. Parking can be a bit challenging, so keep that in mind when you visit.
The Hui Lau Shan in Berkeley offers desserts and refreshments, everything made of mango. It has been around since 1960. The interior is warm and friendly, with muted pastel pink walls. The ceiling also had a nice stream of lights shaped like umbrellas. We enjoyed the mango slush with sago, along with the mango mochi and jumbo mango chewy ball. The sweetness was light, coming from the drink and the mochis. The jumbo was soft, creamy and chewy. We will stop by again the next time we visit Berkeley.
Tasty Hong Kong dessert spot-we stopped in and tried their mango chewy ball and mango crystal jelly bowls. Both were a refreshing way to end our visit to Berkeley! We used the self-service ordering system which was easy and the staff were very professional and did a great job of putting the orders together. Cute and welcoming decor; the place itself is tiny with very limited seats (ie ., one small table and a handful of bars seats) so come prepared to grab and go!
The mango coconut sago was a pretty tasty drink but there was too much sago. There wasn't a strong mango flavor. I think heytea's mango coconut boom is better
We ordered the jumbo mango cup and it came out larger than expected. We usually order the smaller size but felt ambitious today. Jumbo Mango Cup: It came with a mango sorbet in the center, sides of glutinous rice balls, mango chunks on top of mango pudding. It was very good despite it not being mango season. We got the mango pomelo sago and thought it was just okay. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing? It was the most popular drink but maybe we should have tried the dessert instead. Nothing really stood out for me, I think with an abundance of dessert options in the area it's hard to compete. read more

The durian boba was pretty good. I could smell the durian from the cup. The durian is not super strong, to be expected from a boba that isn't like really expensive. If you are a mango lover this is your place. I personally love mango. They have many mango treat choices so you are sure to find a few you like. The mango's they use are fresh and ripe! Just the perfect sweetness. Seems all Orders are freshly made which is another plus. The store is small and they have hardly any service. You order on a tablet and they bring it out and call your name and place it down. Hence no real service. I went early and the few seats they have were clean. I think this is more of a grab and go sorta place. read more

If you love mango desserts as much as I do, you'll like Hui Lau Shan. If you don't like mangoes, I probably wouldn't recommend this place, but there are a few non-mango options. This was my first visit and I got the Mango Chewy Ball, which was refreshing, not overly sweet, and satisfying! Service was quick but unfriendly. There was very limited seating but me and my two friends were able to sit and eat our desserts since it wasn't busy. Sadly no public bathrooms here. read more
The space is tiny and there's no bathroom - no ambiance at all. The service is quick though, I got my order in 5 minutes. I got the pomelo mango dessert but wouldn't get it again or come back here because it was kind of flavorless and became soup really fast. The coconut milk slush was really good but when paired with sago it really tasted like nothing. Sometimes there were icy chunks too which didn't help. The mango and pomelo are not that sweet but I guess it helps with balance. There's a mango? ice cream ball in the center but I would have preferred a scoop of coconut ice cream because it's a great flavor. Would not come again but it's definitely a yummy dessert that's worth a try. read more
A refreshing dessert spot that's all about mango & coconut in every texture you can imagine. Nothing is overly sweet and the portion sizes are great for a solo treat or to share with others. DELICIOUS Heard about this place from a friend and randomly stumbled upon it in Berkeley. I ordered the mango coconut noodle and it was yummy. The coconut noodle is like a jelly but tastes like fresh coconut. The coconut combined with mango was the perfect ratio and mango tasted good. Glad I tried this place. The shop had a few seating areas and we were able to snag a spot to eat our mango. Decently crowded, there were people eating in the store and we got the last two seats. If you love mango, Hui Lau Shan is the place for you. I ordered the mango drink and A Mango Romance (mango ice cream with crystal jelly, mango slush with chewy rice balls, and mango mochi). They tasted great but because I ordered all mango, it started tasting the same after a while. Still, I enjoyed the different textures, particularly the chewiness of the mochi. I'd come back. I LOVVEE THISS PLACE. I found this gem while looking for cool desserts in Berkeley and I'm always in love everytime I come. If you love mango no doubt about it you'll love this spot. Their desserts aren't overly sweet and don't taste artificial compared to some mango desserts I've had. The staff are always super quick to make your order and I've never had any problems coming. It's so worth trying. read more

Casual boba cafe that I walked into for a quick refreshment. Menus posted on outside window as well as inside. Self ordering kiosk - place your order, grab the receipt, and they'll call you number. Pomelo mango sago was delicious and perfectly refreshing for a warm day. Mango flavor was stronger than the pomelo but still really enjoyable. Only thing that was a little off was that the sago was a mix of ball that were proper temperature/texture as well as balls that were still frozen. Didn't enjoy the frozen sago but otherwise a great drink. read more

Hui Lau Shan is a dessert store that I had passed by multiple times while walking around in Berkeley, and even though I was always intrigued I didn't have the chance to check it out until not long ago. While the inside is pretty small, there is some seating available and we were able to grab a booth to the side of the counter. I decided to get the Mango Chewy Ball as it was one of their signature dishes. The mangos were fresh and sweet, while the chewy balls offered a nice texture with the fruit. This place is definitely a good post-dinner spot if you want to top off your meal with some dessert. Highly recommend checking Hui Lau Shan out if you're a mango lover! read more

I had high hopes for this place but it disappointed. I ordered the pomelo mango sago and the mango was bitter and it didn't have much flavor. The most disappointing part was the mango pancake. I was so excited for it but the "cream" they use is legit just cool whip. I would expect a high quality, in-house made cream. But nope, just oily cool whip. Not cool. read more
Food: I got the Pomelo and Mango Sago and it was sooooo good and refreshing. The fruit is a great natural sweet and I loved it! Service: workers were kind and gave us the order asap (and kept it in the fridge for online orders) Ambiance: not much in door seating. For sure a store for grab and go. read more

if you're a fan of of mangos, you'll love this place. the mangos "pancakes" are simply delicious, just some cool whip (maybe) and FRESH mangos together. if you try anything try the MANGO PANCAKES. i also got their passion mango icy. the drink was nice and refreshing, nothing to different to the many boba spots in the area. BUT don't expect to be welcomed with a smile, there is little to no customer service and the space is TINYY. it's definitely worth the trip and trying it, just be prepared to order and go. read more
