One of the only places I drink milk tea from because it's sooo good. I am an avid boba shop visitor, but I don't really like milk tea, I prefer fruit tea. I also don't usually get boba, because half the time it's not chewy or sweet. However, TP tea hits all the boxes. I always get their tie guan yin milk tea. It's pretty sweet as is, I recommend getting 50% if you're getting boba. Typically I get 30-50%, with or without boba, both taste good. The milk tea is creamy but the taste of the tea still shines through. It's sweet but not too sweet (but I also get 30% sweet so maybe that's why lol). The boba adds some extra sweetness to the drink and it's perfectly chewy, even the next day sometimes! Their fruit tea drinks are good (not pictured) but not as good as the milk tea. Their TGY milk tea is legit. I love a good milk tea with strong tea flavor and the flavor in this one was very prominent. Milk and tea are very smooth too. I opted in for 80% sweetness bc the reviews have said their drinks can run on the lighter side. The boba competition is strong, but TP TEA is definitely among the top 3 for me. Boba is the perfect consistency (not too firm or soft) but they also have my favorite topping: noodles! No one else has this so they've won my heart because of that... and they also have pearls (smaller than normal boba)... But their drinks are also very good in that their tea flavor is strong. The creamer/milk they use also makes their milk teas frothy and somewhat rich tasting. I personally like the black milk tea with noodles or with a mix of both small and large boba. i've loved TP Tea since they opened up in cupertino near me. i think they have some of the best milk teas -- creamy but really strong tea flavor. spent the day in berkeley so we decided to treat ourselves to boba. first of all, the prices at this berkeley location are insane! it was honestly kind of painful -- drinks came out to be $6.40 each which is pretty steep in my opinion. i know boba keeps getting more expensive (tbt to when $4 was on the higher end rip) but $6.40 for a regular milk tea and pearls seems high. i'm pretty sure the cupertino location is slightly cheaper. inside the store, you self-order on a kiosk and they call your order number when it's ready. TIE GUAN YIN MILK TEA (less ice, 50% sweet, boba) i really like their tie guan yin milk tea. it's kind of like oolong, but kind of has a wood-y taste if that makes sense. maybe just more earthy. i like how strong the tea is at TP Tea and they definitely use milk to make it creamier. their boba was good too, maybe a little too soft though. also, i swear TP Tea has some of the highest caffeinated milk teas. i never can sleep at night and my heart rate lowkey increases, but tbh it's worth it lol. just be careful though, if you're extra sensitive to caffeine like me, maybe try their caffeine-free drinks or even green milk tea vs. their black. i don't think i would come back to this location just because it's so expensive, but i can agree that their drinks are really good. read more

There are so many boba shops in the Berkeley scene, and TP Tea is quite the hot spot! I love the extensive selection of drinks they have. Having been to their Pleasanton location, I would say the quality here is consistent for the most part. The inside space is small with limited seating and it can get very crowded and stuffy, so I'd recommend taking it to go. Considering how long the lines can get, the self serving kiosks definitely help and the drink turnaround is pretty fast. I love me a good mango + matcha combo, so it was only right for me to order the Mango Matcha Latte (100% sweetness). For almost $8, it was average. It could be that the hot weather that day caused my drink to melt faster, but I felt the matcha flavor was not as strong and the overall latte was somewhat watered down. Their other drinks however, are really tasty! I had a sip of my sister's drink, the Mango Cheese Cream Foam and loved the flavor profile and topping textures of it. I ordered the strawberry milk tea because I was craving something fruity and it was in the list of customer favorites. However, I don't think they have good options for lactose intolerant customers because when I asked about a non-dairy option for this drink, they said they mix in a non-dairy creamer and another worker chimed in that they also mix in whipped cream but that it's not that much dairy because they don't put too much into it. I told it was fine for me but I don't think it'd be good for others who are really lactose intolerant (which seems to take milk teas out of the options for such folks). Anyways, even though I asked for 30% sugar, I found the drink way too sweet (this difficult to finish) and the consistency almost as thick as a smoothie which is kind of gross and not what you would expect from a milk tea. Then the boba was a bit hard and not that easy to chew. With the lowest amount of tip added to my order, my drink was about $7.50 which is on the pricier side. I was not expecting it to be such a slushy texture. It definitely tasted like strawberry and milk but the tea flavor was very very subtle. I was also a little confused by their definitions of topping. They call "pearl" the small tapioca (not to be confused with mini boba) and "boba" the larger tapioca. There's no dearth of boba shops near campus and TPTea has probably been one of the more consistent ones since it opened a few years ago. While the price is high, it seems to be the price you have to pay for well-brewed tea and boba of the perfect QQ consistency. I particularly like the jasmine milk tea, but the passion fruit green tea is also a classic. One thing to note is that the tapioca pearls are smaller than other places, which can be polarizing, but I personally didn't mind. Lines are usually long since it's right on Telegraph and just a few blocks off campus, but you can order ahead through Snackpass. It's usually pretty packed and there's only 2 or 3 small tables inside, so this is definitely a place to grab and go. read more

This review is for the Mango Cheese Cream 80% sweetness. Omg this is so delicious. This isn't one of those cheese cream teas you're meant to just sip. The cheese cream layer is a little too thick to do that and there's mango pieces and mango jelly below that you need a straw to get to. The ice makes getting to the toppings a little difficult but I need my drinks to be very cold so I'm fine navigating around them. I like that depending on how much you mix up the cheese form into the tea, you can have a different experience with each sip. G1 : Cheese Cream Mango Tea with Tea Jelly and Boba is Mango Green Tea topped with a foamy layer of sea salt cream cheese. At 50% sugar it is the perfect sweetness like a freshly ripened mango sweetened only by the sun and the perfect amount of time on a tree. The tea jelly tastes of mango to me as well, intensifying the mango flavor and taste of the drink. The foamy layer of sea salt cream cheese reminds me of salted caramel, that perfect balance of sweet and salty tantalizing the taste buds of your tongue. I found myself opening the lid of my drink solely to savor and indulge in the creamy foam that sat at the top of the drink. The drink and foam paired together are a perfect combination and the lack of the green tea taste was not missed one bit. The two components separate can stand on their own as well as they as delectable alone. I did an add-on of boba to my drink, and I love the chewiness of the pearls usually; however, in this drink it did not add anything.
