a bowl of food on a wooden table

Perfect for what I needed. Some sustenance. I started my travels at 1am pacific time and finally dropped luggage at the hotel desk at 12:30. I wanted something quick, semi-healthy and tasty. This power bowl with brown rice, kimchi, tuna, greens abs some beans hit the spot. Just what I needed and it was pretty and fast too.

Vegan breakfast wrap

After wandering around the city trying to find vegan breakfast to no avail (long lines for one diner and sad or non-existent options everywhere else), we came here. There are several baked goods that are vegan and clearly labeled. We were looking for a more substantial, hot breakfast. They had avocado toast. You get two pieces of hot delicious homemade bread with avo, arugula, and seeds. Yum! We ordered a vegan breakfast wrap (curried tofu, sweet potatoes, greens, and black beans). Lastly, we ordered the blueberry parfait with chia and coconut yogurt. We split everything and it was so delicious. Prices are excellent too. Toast was $7, parfait $5, wrap $6. Food was so good and gobbled up before photos could be taken. UPDATE: came back the next day for more breakfast goodies and added photos.

Tomato soup and 1/2 chicken sandwich

Visited: June 27, 2019 My colleagues and I wanted to grab a quick bite for lunch. We were looking for something healthy/clean tasting but also a place where we can sit down and chat. We came here at around 11:30am on a weekday and we definitely beat the lunch crowd! It's a quick service restaurant; where you order, pay and collect your food at the same time. I decided to order the short rib bowl (around $14) and I was given a choice of either brown rice or mixed greens. The server recommended that I should do 1/2 rice and mixed green and I went with that. I also get to choose 2 sides and I decided on the curried cauliflower and kale salad. Lastly, they scooped the already prepared short rib from a giant pot (with ample tomato sauce) on top of the bowl. There's a self serve water station on the side, along with cutlery and bottles of chipotle (?) hot sauce if you want to add some heat to your food. (Note: the hot sauce is HOT IMHO, use sparingly ;) I dug into my bowl and I made sure I got a bite of everything. The beef was super tender and I just loved the sauce that got mixed into the salad and rice. It was delicious and made a very satisfying meal. Everything tasted clean and fresh, exactly what I was looking for. The bowl was so substantial that I had leftovers for another day. Will definitely come back here again next time.

I got the Turkey - Turkey thigh, smoked gouda, alfalfa sprouts, arugula, pesto aioli, house pickled cucumbers, sourdough bread. Have to say when I first unwrapped it, it was oily but I guess its from the smoked gouda. Well this is sure one very healthy sandwich. I personally liked it. Probably because it was the smoked gouda that made it taste good. the sourdough was a bit very chewy especially when it is the crust part. The sandwich did come nicely wrapped in a black colored paper. and kept wrapped by a sticker with the Tractor logo on it. Nice!

One of my favourite healthy eateries in #YVR is Tractor Foods. I never get tired of their chicken bowl with the combined rice and greens and kale with citrus dressing. When you have no time to make lunch and you're working at home, order in with @ubereats @doordash and still eat healthy. Love the combined side dish options and the selection. During COVID, dine in or order online for take out. Support local healthy eateries.

Being in Vancouver for the 3rd time in 2 weeks i was tempted to go the the same delicious poke place but my colleagues convinced me to try this new restaurant. Their opinions were so convincing i could not ignore them. I went had the Thai stew with prawns, Brussels sprouts/apricot/radicchio salad and the kale/quinoa/pomegranate salad, they were fresh, healthy and tasty. The guys working convinced me to try their cookie and i have to say it was the most delicious gluten free cookie I've tasted in a looooong time. Great place for healthy fast food, would def recommend!!!

Breakfast sandwich delivered on plate so small that the food drags on the table... ew?

Stopped by to try their breakfast today. It's an open, cafeteria-style place with no visible menu posted which is somewhat confusing for a newcomer. There was a sign listing the prices for adding bacon or avocado to a breakfast sandwich, however, so I ordered a breakfast sandwich with both. No idea what to expect! I took a seat and after a few minutes a server brought out the sandwich on a plate. A breakfast sandwich appears to be scrambled eggs, cheese, and arugula with some garlic (?) aioli, grilled on sourdough bread. It was tasty, good though not "omg wow" good. I was fairly unimpressed by the presentation and service, they are definitely trying to recreate "high school cafeteria" feel here and they succeed. Plate dumped directly onto table, arugula hanging off the sides to wipe over the table top, no napkins or cutlery offered (get your own from a side station, and if you forget to pick them up, you'll just have to go back). Still, it was a good sandwich, would eat there again if hungry and nearby, but probably wouldn't go out of my way to return.

Mushroom truffled and seared albacore tuna.

If you like gourmet salad bars, this is it! So many choices, yes, you can get a salad anywhere/ make it yourself, but Tractor's salads are fairly complex and pretty good. From beet salads, kale, truffled mushroom salad ( which I got and was delicious!!), even a Kim Chi salad. I got the albacore tuna ( 2 or 4 oz) and that was very filling. The place is spacious and airy, I love the colors and gold geometric deigns . They also serve 49th parallel coffee for $2.50( yay!) , great place for a brunch/lunch! I really like this location in Vancouver , close to Jack Poole Plaza - today was the women's march( there's always some event going on).

Lemon Kale Salad with Moroccan Stew...

Sunday afternoon and just arrived in Vancouver. What a treat it was to find this quiet, clean place open with a variety of healthy salads, sandwiches and soups. Had tomato soup with Kale Salad. Salad was great! Didn't care for the fennel in the soup. Came back on Monday to Butternut Squash and was blown away. Would definitely recommend this place. Free WiFi, beautiful architecture "Mikado" sticks. Service outstanding. Absolutely would recommend this place.

Long lines, slow staff, overpriced food. No way, lots of better choices in Vancouver.

The Chicken Avocado sandwich is the bomb and will order it every time, that I am in Vancouver.read more

The chili-lime tofu, my go-to, is grilled fresh and juicy with a tangy marinade. I find these bowls very filling, but the price adds up quickly as you add more salad scoops, so I find it best to be conservative with my estimate of how much I think I need to eat. Besides the salad bowls, they have some hot entrees. I tried the Moroccan chickpea hot bowl and the tomato soup and both were a little bland, which was especially disappointing for something labelled "Moroccan". I would go back and try some different entrees to see if anything else is better, but I would say the salads are likely the best choice here. They have a very limited selection of "healthy" baked goods too. I really liked the chocolate pistachio cookie. As you would expect, it's significantly less sweet and has a slightly drier texture than a regular cookie, but if you like that kind of "better for you" treat, it's good. Very cocoa-forward. I've had good experiences with the service. The staff is friendly enough and usually pretty fast. It's counter service, but they'll usually bring your food to you at your table. There's a good amount of seating inside and a few tables outside when the weather allows. It's minimalist but clean.

I never knew this place was called HBC Gourmet Market, but I finally remembered to take note of it…read morethe next time I visited. It's a bakery and deli. This is the place where I usually buy cakes for the office. Their cakes are pre-made and placed in the displays for you to choose from. They make cakes throughout the day, but if you're unlucky they could be low on choices if you're there at the wrong time. If you have time, order ahead, but I don't usually have any problems with walk ins. The most recent cakes that I purchased were the Lemon Meringue and the Chocolate. Both cakes were sweet, light and fluffy. They were a hit in the office.

This is just a quick review which I promise to update soon (I am at work now and they don't pay me…read moreto review restaurants). The HBC Gourmet Market is a little known great eatery in downtown Vancouver. It is located on the bottom floor of the Hudson's Bay Company (next to the Pacific Centre food court). It appears to be relatively unknown because Yelp doesn't know about it and so many people are always asking where I buy my lunch! Here you will find a very tasty selection of typical deli fare... The soups, salads, and sandwiches are their main selects but there is a whole lot more! My favourites are the Thai Chicken soup and the Chipotle Chicken Soup... usually ordered with a Greek salad. I am always so pleased with my lunch that I made this my very first review on Yelp!
