John fixed my Singer sewing machine many years ago and it's still running! Note that I inherited the sewing machine from my mother. She bought it used when she was 18 years old (1944). Twenty years ago I purchased a brand new Kirby for $1,500. It had been sluggish was fine until our painter used it for our project and broke the drive gear. I was seeing dollar signs! I took it to Tracy Sew & Vac and was greeted by the owner, John. He was so pleasant and had my Kirby ready by Friday. I had brought it in Wednesday afternoon. He told me he'd have it running like new and he was not kidding! I didn't realize til I got it back that it really hadn't been working very well for a while. It's running like it did the day I bought it 20+ years ago! Sadly, John has the business up for sale. This will be a huge loss to Tracy local businesses. Please spread the word. My apologies for my late review. I was working on a quilt for my grandson for Christmas 2022. My machine froze up and after messing with it for a while, and getting no where. I called, Tracy Sew & Vac, for an estimated cost and turn around. Told him I would be right in. He mentioned that they were just closing for the day but asked how far out I was, and he waited for me. i explained my urgency, and bless him, he had my machine ready for me by the next day and operating better than it had been. It is now March, 2023 and my machine is still working like a champ. Might I also mention, I paid just what was quoted. A man true to his word. Couldn't ask for better service. Dropped off my Dyson to get the cord fixed and my shark serviced for the first time ever, which was really needed. I dropped him off on Saturday and informed the gentleman that I would not be able to pick it up till next Saturday which he was was totally fine with. Brought them home and put them to immediate use and they work fantastic. I just been excited about getting a vacuum service is a key sign that you're getting old I will definitely be going back to make sure my vacuums are serviced more frequently than once every five years. read more

I wish I had a better experience and maybe this will help with folks keeping their word. My husband called twice to let the lady know that I would be coming after work from Mountain House and it takes 20 min. M said she would wait for me because there was another customer coming from MH to pick up vacuum. I got here at 5:21 and no one in sight. I now have wasted an extra 40 min traveling. If you say you are closed and can't wait for me, then I would have not driven out here. Sorry, but I would not want to do business with someone that doesn't keep their word. It broke a couple of years ago. It's moved from one closet to another. It was expensive when I first bought it so I resisted getting rid of it. Finally, my patient wife decided it was dumpster time. "If you've not had it fixed it by now... and, besides, how many people fix vacuums anymore? You just buy a new one." Well, this old Hoover cost a few hundred when new. It is self-propelled and has air filtering and some other good features. So I checked around for a fix-it shop. And, right here in town I found Tracy Sew & Vac. And there's something about fixing something rather than replacing it that gives you a glow. I took it in and the very nice guy that runs the place said, "Sure I can fix it. Just leave it and I'll call you." Price estimate was fifty bucks. OK. The shop is cluttered with used sewing machines and vacuums for sale and with broken units waiting to be fixed or picked up. After a week and a half I called up to check on my Hoover. "Oh yes. It's fixed. Come and get it." I did. It WAS fixed and tuned up a little besides. Works fine now and done at the price quoted. Fixing the vac was MUCH cheaper than if I'd gotten a new model with similar features. So work was great! Owner was friendly. Organization and notification could be improved. I'd definitely use the shop again but I'll be sure to mark my calendar so I remembered to call and got my item back. read more

I have a old sewing machine that I love. It was my grandmother's and I got it after she passed away. It got jammed and stopped working a little while ago. I was referred to the Tracy Sew & Vac and finally took my machine there. The owner and his daughter were very friendly, which right off he bat left me feeling very comfortable with leaving my machine with them. You could definitely see by the amount of fixed and waiting to be fixed machines and vacuums that this was a trusted business in our community. I prefer using local-family-owned-small-businesses (when I can) as opposed to large commercial chains. And this experience proves why. The owners are happy you are there. They have a customer service that is greatly lacking in today's world. Unlike larger chains, where customers are a dime a dozen, they rely on customers to make a living and that shows in the pride they put into their work. I went in to pick up my machine and it was all fixed and ready to go right when they said it would be. It took about a week and the price quote was exactly the same. The owner was very kind and even carried the machine out to my car.. For me that speaks volumes about the appreciation and courtesy they have for their customers. I will most definitely use them again in the future if the need arises. read more

Don't waste your time,. I took my Hoover carpet shampooer - and it was almost too much for him to bend over and plug it in. After 3 seconds - he announced - you don't want to fix this. I must have a working sewing machine at all times. I goofed up and let both my good machines break down before looking for a local repairman. Sears hadn't done a great job with my Kenmore. I only knew somebody reputable in Dublin. I took both my good machines to Tracy Sew and Vac, begging to get at least one of them repared before Christmas. When I left the shop, I realized I had no receipt or proof that I'd left my Singer 9960 and my Kenmore 19606. To my surprise, John at the shop called me the next day with two working machines. He asked me to bring the correct presser foot for both of them to get a more accurate test before taking them home. I now have two machines that work beautifully. Both my stitches actually look better, and I have the security of knowing someone who has been in business for 39 years, and he is local! read more

I just called to see if they carried embroidery thread. The woman who answered the phone had slurred speech so badly I could barely understand her and she couldn't answer my question. I pressed a little harder for her to find the answer and, after some disgusting bodily noises, she just said she was sure they didn't have embroidery thread - just "thread". So, I will continue to drive to Dublin Sewing Center. Glad I didn't waste my time going into the store. read more

I went in to have my sewing machine repaired. The gentleman was nice, looked it over and said he would make sure he got it working again for me. True to his word, the machine is now working. He also had it all threaded up for me and with a fabric swatch with the various stitching that it can now do again at the needle. He wasn't there when I picked up, but his daughter was. I had a vacuum cleaner breakdown and was in need of cleaning for company was coming.i called and gentleman told me to bring in and he would check it. I took it in and he turned it on and immediately told me he could fix it. He asked when I needed and I told him yesterday he said is couple hours ok and Yes it was great! I inherited an Orek XL a few years ago from a relative. We really liked it a lot so when we saw a crack in the base shaft and super glue wouldn't fix it - I found Tracy Sew and Vac. Dropped it off Thur PM and the lady said her father would look it over in the AM. If he couldn't fix it - no charge and he might even give me store credit if I wanted to buy a used Orek there in the shop (very promising idea). But the next morning the owner called and said it could be repaired and ready by tuesday am. I just tested out our repaired Orek - cracked piece replaced, new belt, and new vac bag. *** Now it has working lights and it propels forward - which it never did since I inherited it.
