What a great time killer. I was in the area and needed to burn time before registration for a follow-up at the Doctor's office. I was on cab and foot that day and I speed walked (avid speed walker here) on over after a chick at the 'other' salon eschewed me away like chicken legs on hot fire on a bbq. NBD. I got my kicks in and didn't want a manicure anyway. 'lawl'. My hair was surly, uneven and in need of a trim, found this place on foot and glad that I did because I waited like 30 scs before I was greeted and sat in the chair to get the party started. I got 1/2' than 1' to get the melon all in check. 1&1'/2 total. Also got the extras like a face wash, a shoulder massage and melon wash for a decent price. TS a def req. This place was a nightmare. My daughter had hombre done, they did it and it was obvious they did not know how to do it, no clue! My daughter had to go next day because it wAs so bad she wanted it back to her natural color. Next, when I did a pedicure 2 of my toenails turned black and fell off! Next, they bleached my hair and the entire bottom broke off and I didn't know it until I went to a hairdresser a few months later when he showed me, I was in shock and pissed! I cheated. I went from Maggie to Tracy for them lashes. Noting was wrong with Maggie, she was great - professional, precise, and phenomenal. However, I decided to try Tracy's Salon because she was closer to me and inexpensive. Tracy has been doing my lashes for a few months now and I LOVE LOVE her! She's a perfectionist - she'll make sure you leave her salon with perfect lashes. She's super sweet, easy-going, and fun to talk to (although I'm asleep half of the time, lol). When I first came to Tracy, I told her what type of lashes (look) I was going for - natural with a lil somethin' somethin' and she was able to make it happen. I love how she listens to what you want, but also gives you her opinion as well. I haven't tried the other services here, but they also have services for: hair, nails, and waxing. There will be 2 parts in this review: haircut by Christie and Eyelash Extensions by Tracy Haircut: Christie has been doing my hair for over 10 years. She's cut my hair from styles as crazy as an asymmetrical A-line, to a simple trim on my currently hair-down-to-my-ass long hair :-). I can always trust Christie with various styles and to understand what I'm looking for. In the past, I've permed my hair with Christie so many times.. From tight curls to summer waves, she rocked them each time! My family comes to her go men's haircuts and my sister goes to her for hair dyes. She's good at color and even ombre's. Eyelash: Tracy did my eyelashes for a recent vacation I took to Hawaii. I scheduled an appointment at 6 and she finished my lashes in 2 hours. She was really gentle with the application and it did not hurt as much as the first time I got my lashes done at a different place. Tracy had calming music playing while she did the application, which made it so easy to fall asleep on the table haha! I went for a full natural look, and that's what she gave me! I got them done on a Tuesday, left for vacation on that Thursday, and today, almost 2 weeks later, my lashes are still intact and looking full. They just need to be brushed after showers and in the morning, but I'm surprised they've lasted this long even after being in salt water thoughout my vacation, and not really taking good care of them (I washed my face like I would normally do). Overall, I would definitely recommend Tracy for lashes and will be coming back to her in the future!! read more

I was lured in by the "$8 and up" sign sitting outside across the street from another one that said "$7 and up". I went for this one because it had Vietnamese writing on it, and being Asian, I like to have Asians cut my hair because for some reason I think they know how to cut Asian hair better (not meant to be a racist statement). If anyone (men?) cares, they apparently do fades real well here. I came in at 6:30 pm and was worried they'd be closing soon, but they were still going strong and I was seated immediately. I said I wanted my hair and bangs a bit shorter. Half an hour later, my hairdresser Quinnie showed me her work, but I felt that my hair was still too long, so she went back to work and another half hour later I was super happy with my hair. I think it's pretty rare that I'm this happy with my hair, and wish I could do what she did to make it look like this everyday (probably would involve too much time though). For $20, it's a bit higher than advertised on their price list, but I didn't mind since it took an hour and she did a really good meticulous job. It was pretty cool that I could watch Big Bang Theory (2 episodes of it!) while she was cutting my hair too! The hairdressers were all chatting with each other loudly (in Vietnamese, so they could've been talking about me for all I knew) and it seemed like a fun environment. read more

I've been going to Tracy's Salon for a couple of years. It's located in a forgettable little shopping strip on East Santa Clara Street. The salon is nothing fancy but Tracy is anything but forgettable! Tracy and her staff earn 4 stars for nails because: 1. Tracy and staff are sweet and funny (Tracy is #1 with nails, especially acrylics. Ha and Jennifer are good, too). 2. They are tons of gel colors with coordinating (exact match) pedi colors. 3. Rarely a wait. 4. Tracy always has treats - candy, ice cream, spring rolls... 5. No skimping on the polish - they do 2-3 coats, no watered down crap, and all of the polish is non-toxic/high quality. Tracy and her staff earn 3 stars for brow waxing because a few times the girls have waxed my brows waayyyy too thin. Tracy gets 5 stars for hair b/c I told her exactly what I wanted, she considered my hair type (thick with a wave), gave me an awesome cut and I've had excellent hair days and compliments nearly every day since. Wanted to pamper myself this weekend. Stumbled onto several "salons" but hated every one of em. Then My brother-in-law told me his hairstylist is the best. And we drove to Tracy's. OMG! this place IS as good as it gets. Due to their friendly terms, I ended up getting Tracy to do my hair & nails. Shampoo(with an awesome massage), cut, blowdry, style.. the works. Miracle worker! I love my hair! The environment was really nice, and clean! compared to all the other dingy places I went earlier in the day, this place was excellent! Made my bf get a hair cut too! I love the way they took their time doing my nail although it was past 7 whn we started. I'm never going anywhere else. She even took in a customer as we were leaving.. at 8.30pm!!! Customer service was superb, their work was awesome. I got mani, pedi, haircut, and my bf's haircut for $60+. If your looking for a good place with reasonable pricing, don't think twice. I feel the lady who did my pedicure could have taken her time since she took nearly 10 minutes preparing her materials while my feet were soaking and I was using the massage chair. The pedicure was alright, but her coats weren't as thick as I would like them to be since you can still see the brush strokes in her coats. I could paint my nails myself, but nothing like the "nail specialists" that I would expect to be done at a nail shop. My gel fingernails did not last more than a week, which is unacceptable. Gel nails should last up to 2 weeks which is why we pay extra for the service. Unfortunately I won't be back. Sorry :( read more

I went to Tracy's on New Year's Eve and I am thrilled with the cut and blow dry that Christie gave me. She did just a perfect shoulder length cut with layers around my face. I wanted my bangs trimmed, but not too short and again it turned out perfecto. Why do so many stylists cut the bangs too short? My favorite part was the blow dry, it lasted for 3 days! Going to a new hair salon is always a big ordeal for me, so when I lost my long-time hairdresser I put off getting my hair cut for over two years! Today I finally took the plunge and went to Tracy's after finding great reviews on Yelp. Although it was Saturday afternoon, I walked in to a cheerful, clean salon and was immediately seated by Christy, who took the time to find out exactly what I wanted. "Are you ready?" she asked, before I gave her the go ahead to lop off and layer a good 8 inches. She took her time to make sure it was just right, and I emerged from the salon feeling 10 pounds, 10 years, and only $30 (cut, style, and tip) lighter. Came in here between classes at SJSU for a pedicure and manicure. I called in first and told them I was on my way. A nice lady told me to pick my polish and get in the pedicure chair. Then another lady started my pedicure. She was nice. A man began fitting the plastic onto my nails, which I was happy about - time efficient! Well... During the pedicure, the lady used a brush on my foot after applying the cuticle remover cream. The plastic brush looked used and not sterile. And the color (dark red) is not applied evenly. It was very watery. Most of the problems came during the manicure. Why on earth would employees clearly grab things out of something that says "soiled" to use on me?!? And they were not clean, I saw dust on the drill bits and files. Both the man and Tracy (I think she was the owner) did it. I wondered if they thought I couldn't read or something. While doing the acrylic she spoke Vietnamese the entire time. She had a Bluetooth on and I wondered if she was on the phone or talking to the male employee who was watching. The worst was when the guy grabbed something out of the trash bin to use on my nails... It was a used pumice file. He lifted up the trash bag, and it was hidden under the trash bag. Very....weird. So anyway, long story short... I go back to school and two of my nails have large indent marks in the paint. They used regular polish and did a top coat of gel that must have not dried. I came back after class and the lady who did my pedicure redid the two nails with black gel polish this time. Was not happy to have to come back. I'm worried my other nails are going to get dents in them. She was polite. My favorite employee was the male. A man of few words but funny for sure ;) So my biggest tip to this place is dear god don't take tools out of something that says "SOILED" on it. I never get my nails done at a place because my mom is a manicurist, but she went on vacation for a month so I needed a much overdue fill. I ended up here and got a fill. The owner, I'm assuming, since her workers called her Tracy, was a sweet lady. She was really friendly and treated me and my nails so well. Her gentle touch with filing and making sure each nail was nice and perfect was much appreciated. She was careful and didn't rush to finish and really made sure they looked good. She made it thin and natural looking opposed to the thick style. I enjoyed talking to her also. I was so relaxed that I almost fell asleep, kind of like the feeling you get when you get a haircut and your head is massaged. I found Tracy's because it was close to my new apartment. The other reviews seemed alright, so I took a chance. I needed a new full set of gel stilettos and a pedicure. Tracy's job on my nails were excellent! They were shaped exactly how I wanted and polished perfectly. Since then I've had my nails done by Julie, who does an equally amazing job. My pedicures are always done right as well. The entire staff is not only friendly, but hilarious. You really don't need to bring a friend for some serious girl time at this spot. Worst salon I've ever been to in my life. I got eyelash extensions before trying to travel out of the country , and Tracy glued them on so bad that the lashes were scraping the inside of my eyes.
