I go here often because it's so close but I just wanted to say that every time I grocery here it's an amazing experience. They grab your cart for you at check out and the customer service is unbeatable. A simple "how are you" goes a long way and I appreciate that. read more

It's okay but, based on my experience at other Trader Joe's stores, I had hoped for a great selection of products. Very clean with lots of fresh-faced staff eager to please and sporting bright smiles. Lots of great products, including a lot of healthy things I enjoy and a lot of "naughty" things I can't resist (their frozen Mandarin Orange Chicken, Pound Plus bars of Belgian chocolate, and their wine/beer selection). They have a surprisingly large selection of cheeses. Having said all that, a number of products I had sought out and purchased at other Trader Joe's in the past were not on the shelves at this location, including the highly addictive Cheddar & Horseradish Chip and a comparatively limited set of craft beer options. I will be back in the future to this location, but only if the downtown location is lacking the same items. Otherwise, I will fight the traffic to get my next Trader Joe's fix. read more

Seems I'm making the Trader Joe's Austin circuit lately. In truth, I sucked down a couple of bottles of the French wine and a carton of handmade chocolate peanut butter cups I bought at the downtown location a couple of weeks ago, and didn't feel like making another trip into the melee for a refill. So here's a handy comparison. The Arboretum TJ's is twice the size of its downtown sis, with twice the inventory. I not only stocked up on French wine and dark chocolate, I found a larger selection of bakery items, fresh fruit, and frozen delicacies such as Japanese Mochi ice cream and spinach and artichoke balls. Tax season is no fun; a girl needs her comfort foods. If you're just shopping for a regular day, they have all the regular stuff you need, fresh, refrigerated, canned or frozen, plus fresh flowers to brighten your day, just like mama used to cut. Wine comprises two sides of a full aisle, organized by variety, then region. I still hate the cheap stuff, but even the good stuff is priced fairly. And the refrigerated foods section is full of fresh pre-made dinners and lunches that help simplify your life on a budget. Shopping here felt a lot like hitting the neighborhood store in Old Austin. I even ran into a friend I hadn't seen in awhile. Parking is fairly simple, unlike downtown, because it's in the Arboretum and it's a free lot, though it gets pretty full during peak times. There are shops and a bookstore and a nice lawn area nearby, so technically, you could spend the better part of a day hanging out at the Arboretum and have an affordable place to grab a quick bite and your groceries before you head home. The only thing that would make it better is if this Trader Joe's were actually closer to my home, way out in the Trails at 620 in Four Points, where we were hoping to have one. The back corner sample station was closed, sadly, because it was nearly closing time. They turn up the music really loud ten minutes before they lock the doors, so you know it's time to head for the register. I told the cashier it felt like we were in a movie and someone just fell in love on aisle three. He didn't laugh. Clearly, tax season makes me slightly delirious. read more

I knew this place was opening in the Arboretum area. The week after they officially opened, I was hesitant to go check it out. Here's my thought process "Yes Trader Joe's just opened! I'm going! But wait, what if there's a lot of people? Yea there's going to be a lot of people. It's 2pm...all the cookie butter will be out. Dang I want cookie butter. Alright I'm going...let's do it live!" I walk in and it's surprisingly not crowded. Not having to squeeze through people in the aisles, I immediately grab two bags of orange chicken. Seriously get the orange chicken...it's crispy...that's all you need in life. Next I passed by the sample kitchen in the back corner. They were giving out turkey corn dogs and pomegranate limeade. I put both in my cart because they were delicious. "Now where is that cookie butter? Oh no I don't see it on display in the front. That means they ran out probably. Oh wait, I see it in one of the aisles! Wait why are there so many?! Aww look at the old lady who has a jar of cookie butter in her hands muttering to herself if she should get it, while her two granddaughters standing next to her have big Oliver Twist looking eyes. Yes mamm you get that cookie butter!" The moral of the story, everyone should get cookie butter. The crunchy cookie butter is better than the original. At the checkout, the cashier scanned the turkey corn dogs and the pomegranate lemonade and stated "Someone's been to the sample section." Yes nice cashier lady...I was there. read more

Damn you, Trader Joe's! My ladies over at Whole Foods are gonna disown me because I just can't stop driving the extra couple minutes it takes me to get to you. For those who've never been to one, don't go expecting a full-service grocery store or supermarket. This is a market. They have many things a grocery store has, but it's just different. They're also a proprietary store, so don't expect as many name brands. Most of the stuff here is Trader Joe's Brand. In the end, this adds up to savings for you. Produce/cold section: I have a problem with salads. I know I should eat them more, but I don't order them as often as I should, and I don't really make them for myself either. Enter TJ's. I can stock up on 3-4 salads for my lunches and feel nice and healthy for less than $5/meal. Is the pre-cooked chicken in them amazing? No. But I add in some cucumber and avocado, and they come out fabulous. They also have a great selection of cheeses, meats and sausages. Ladies.. Frozen section: Get you some. Appetizers for that soiree you're going to later, frech frozen meats and seafood, gyoza, green onion pancake, green chile tamales, and TURKEY CORN DOGS! Get them. Love them. Pet them. Pet them! Bread section: has great pita and lavosh, as well as many other choices. BEWARE! There are cookies. Not all of them are great, but if you want something amazing you won't be able to stop eating, get the Vegan Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies with Coconut. Holy. Crap. Wine: I've always enjoyed the wine selection here, and no matter what you say, Two Buck Chuck is still just about the best bang for your buck. Especially now that they have so many different flavors! The reds make for great sangria and calimochos, and the Chardonnay is actually quite quaffable. The check out runs pretty smoothly, and all the checkers are super nice. The flower section is pretty amazing too, and really affordable. So, get some flowers for that special person you're shopping for. Or for your cat to destroy. Either way. Will I return? Sometimes, a woman wants to buy herself a bouquet of flowers, with roses and peonies and other fancy flowers. And that same woman is thrifty, so she comes to Trader Joe's. For a little over $10, I can put together a very nice bouquet at TJ's. And then, I shop for other deals. The salad mixes always look healthy and not limp. The pre-chopped veggies and fruits are great to have in the frig. I often find myself scouting out the unique fresh produce- once they had the most succulent Harry & David pears. Another time, I found Pink lemons. The staff is so friendly and genuinely happy. They handle long lines well and are willing to help me locate items, like the coconut cream which I can never find. read more

Still only stopping in occasionally for snacks, flowers, wine and pre-made salads on my lunch break. Also for gluten-free cookies for my GF peeps in my office on treat days. Employees are still super friendly and helpful. I think I finally put my finger on why I'm not a huge fan. So much of their stuff is frozen heat & eat items, and I like to cook from scratch. It's perfect for people who want grab and go items, or folks who don't cook. However I'm not going to buy a frozen lasagna when I can just make one myself. We make the 20 min drive here like four times a week. Here's why: The prices are unbelievably cheap. They make easy grab n' go options: salads, wraps, sandwiches So many different kinds of hummus. The floral department is lovely, and I feel like all of the men in Austin should be aware of this. **SUPER CHEAP AND PRETTY FLOWERS FOR UNDER 10.00** Frozen food section is amazing SO many desserts Pumpkin everything during Halloweentime They sell the best cookies in the world (Peppermint JoJos) during Chistmastime, and they sell mistletoe too! Awww. There is a great free sample section, free juice n' free coffee. Wine. Don't even get me started on the wine. I'm drinking a glass from TJ's now, and let me tell you, it's fantastic and it was like a dollar. Kids get scratch n' sniff stickers (and if you ask, you can have them too), and there are cute kiddie carts I also need to add that the staff is incredible. They're fun. They have suggestions. They will let you try anything in the store. I wish they had kombucha, but that's pretty much my only wish for Trader Joe's. read more

You know why they call this place Trader Joe's? Because it is MAN'S SHOPPING! Seriously this is the perfect store for men to shop in, you walk in and there is only one or 2 of everything and 99% of the items are just listed under the Trader Joe's label. Your wife/girlfriend sends you to the store and you can just power through and grab what you need. No concerns about is this the right brand or the right size package. I love the ease and quality of this store. It has cheap and easy salad and wrap options for lunch as well. I now understand why people clamored for this store for so long. The jury is still out for me. The staff are friendly. The store is clean. Prices are right. I like their beer and wine selection in particular, even though I don't drink. The ability to make your own six packs of bottled beer is a nice touch. Trader Joe's is almost exclusively stocked with their own private label stuff. If you like it, you'll do great. If not, you're probably going to be happier shopping someplace else, especially since they really aren't a full grocery store. (i.e., no paper products, etc.) It's a fun trip, especially if you're willing to make this a second stop in addition to your primary grocery trip. read more

There's a few items we love to get at trader joes. Here's my top picks. - La Finca Malbec. Great value wine. - Super premium vanilla ice cream - Almonds, walnuts, trail mixes, all nuts. They're all very fresh. - Smoked Gouda - Pizza dough - Joe Joe's!! The TJ version of Oreos. - Pound plus Belgium chocolate bars. Best value for quality of chocolate They're always coming up with new items which always makes us buy more than we originally planned :) The employees here are happy and fun. They're helpful at providing recommendations and encourage sampling even if the item isn't up for sample that day. read more

I do love me some Trader Joe's. I've become a bit of a running joke at my work because so much of my food for lunch comes from TJ. For the price, you can't beat the quality of the produce and the awesome frozen meals. There are some who don't like the prepared meals at TJ and I can understand that. I can't say that they are as good as ones you might prepare yourself, but they work for me as a single person on a tight budget. I usually dread grocery shopping, but TJ's has such a clean layout and the friendliest staff ever. I will say that the Bee Caves location offers a little bit more, but there is plenty to like about this one. Central Market and Whole Foods may have some higher quality items, but you really can't beat Trader Joe's for the price. read more

What is this? A Trader Joe's in North Austin that isn't packed full of people and you can actually stroll through and browse instead of having to pretend like you are doing Black Friday shopping? My first experience at this TJ's was much more pleasant than my first at the Bee Caves location - well except that I got free flowers at that one. Service was super friendly, shelves were fully stocked, I bought way more than I intended. I'm so happy that this Trader Joe's location is finally open. I was impressed! Went there today, and it was packed with people--lots of lookers, browsing all of their items. I was very impressed with the prices, and the variety of different foods and items. Even though they were packed, the staff were super friendly and helpful. They had a lot of check-out registers open, so the lines were not long, despite the crowds. I had heard of the Three Buck Chuck, but didn't know that it was in its own section of wines. The check-out guy explained it, and went and got me a bottle. read more

Moving here from California, I was delighted to discover that there was a Trader Joe's just down the street from my new place. Friendly employees that are always down to endorse their favorite products, specialty items that you won't find anywhere else like brioche toast (delicate mini toasts,) an amazing cheese selection with a featured cheese every month, chicken pot pie ravioli, and many, MANY more! Their return policy is golden: if you don't like it, bring it back for a full refund. I have had to do this on occasion and I'm never met with attitude. Sure, I can't buy aluminum foil here, but isn't that part of the specialty store charm? Props to my last cashier, Kyle, who brightened my day and helped me leave with a smile on my face! read more

Overall I love TJs, but I have been having serious issues with the produce here lately. Considering everything is bagged, this is probably more of a corporate issues, but I wanted to write a review here so other customers are aware. The bananas don't ripen evenly and always have brown, mushy spots. The bagged asparagus is frequently "squishy" on the tips. The last bag of Brussels sprouts I got had mold all throughout. And the sweet potatoes taste very odd. I attempted to consume all of this produce within days of purchasing and nothing was expired. I know Trader Joe's has an excellent return policy, but I don't have the time to stop by there every other day with yet another subpar product that needs to be returned. read more

I love TJ's and am glad this location opened as its a lot closer to my house than the downtown one. I do most of my everyday shopping at HEB since the prices are better, but there are a few solid items I like to get specifically from here. Strawberry jam, almond butter, coconut oil, salad dressings, olive oil, hummus, frozen fruit for smoothies, the canned Cajun seasoned black beans (they rock in quesadillas), 2 buck chuck (their house wine), and the cinnamon graham crackers. Pasta is also great here and dirt cheap. My husband is in love with their Maple flavored shredded wheat cereal. Now, there are a few things I've tried here and didn't like. I would steer clear of most of the frozen dinners and pizzas, because the few I tried were freezer burnt goop. The frozen oatmeal being a real suck ball. My husband also got the kimchi one time which usually he loves and after one bite said it was way too potent and tossed it. Other than that I've been pretty pleased with my purchases and the staff are always so sweet and willing to help you find whatever you need. read more

I sat on this review FOREVER because I wanted to love TJ's, but considering I still haven't dragged myself back to check it out again, here we go. Trader Joe's is what it is. 1. Good cheap produce, organics sometimes cheaper than regular stuff at other stores. 2. A great beer and wine aisle. 3. Fun foods you can't find elsewhere. 4. Lots of TJ's branded junk food (said both lovingly and wistfully, not hatefully). However, I'm not able to get my whole grocery list there, I had to run over to HEB for half of it. I know that's not what TJ's is about, it's more of a specialty store, and I'm probably cranky that cookie butter sounds delicious but I'm trying to be good, but I kind of need a one stop shop most weeks, which is sadly why I won't end up here more often. Also, the parking lot is a HUGE pain. I mean, I know a lot of parking lots are bad in Austin, but this one is crazy annoying to get out of. Super friendly staff and cashiers though. Extra love for that. If I found the thing that I had to have here I'd be back more often - but nothing I bought changed my life, so I'll probably just go spend all my money at whole foods since I work down the street and can get everything I need there. :P read more

My daughter convinced me to try this place awhile back. I found the store to be very clean. The staff members are there to help you in case you have trouble locating what you need. It's very organized. I have tried a few things that I do come back for. This store is not a large grocery store, but it has a decent selection of healthy foods. I have yet to try the cookie butter or almond butter, but my daughter swears by them. I love their hashbrowns and mini pancakes in the frozen section. I also buy my hamburger patties from here in the meat section. All in all, I would probably visit more often if it was closer to where I live. Unfortunately I rarely find myself in that particular section of town. But this is a great store worth visiting! read more

Since it's on my commute home, I've fallen into the habit of directly depositing a significant portion of my paycheck into the cash registers at Trader Joe's. There are many items I can find at TJ's much cheaper than at HEB, like basil, coconut milk, coconut flour, tomatoes, and arugula. As much as I loathe splitting my grocery shopping across multiple stores, I enjoy the savings. Well, I enjoy them for about 0.2 seconds until I spend said savings on chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches, gourmet cheese, and bottles of Pontificis. As a first timer who wanted to see what the hype is about, am SO IMPRESSED! i was worried i would be lost, but everyone was so accommodating and knowledgeable. I bought wine for the first time in my life- because it was organic and no added sulfites! i'm so happy i learned all about it from Will! thank you! i can't wait to have red wine and steak night. then i went over to vitamins and learned even more from Adam. we also laughed a lot. made grocery shopping a fun experience instead of a drag. you guys have a very very well rounded and welcoming staff. i will most definitely be back. thank you for helping me on my health journey, trader joe's!! read more

I just can't seem to get on board TJ love train. Mostly I come here because my folks like the wine prices. (not the 3 Buck Chuck rotgut) Is the staff friendly? Oh yeah...very much so. Is the store clean? Very clean and well laid out. Do they have a diverse selection? Sure...provided your kitchen if mostly stocked with dried items or frozen meals. I think I would probably be drinking the TJ cool-aide if I were a frequent consumer of prepackaged foods. The fresh item selection is respectable, but small. Prices are no better than my local HEB, which has a larger selection of fresh meats and produce. For me, it really isn't worth the trip for any actual grocery shopping. read more

Awesome snacks/app options for a lazy boozy Saturday with friends. The endives are a great alternative to chips or crackers-love dipping into the beet hummus and Mediterranean chickpea dip. Why is everyone that works here so nice?! I feel like I'm entering a magical fairyland every time I go to buy fruit (which is organic AND way cheaper than HEB). Seriously, everyone that works there has been tremendously helpful, friendly, and will immediately drop what they are doing to help you if you need it. My husband and I went to Trader Joe's tonight around 7 PM. Since we are in a high risk group for coronavirus, we never go into a store to shop. Curbside grocery pick up is our preference. Having said that, it was with some hesitation that we decided to walk into Trader Joe's and shop. As we approached Trader Joe's, crew members had disinfectant for our hands and the cart they gave us to use was disinfected and ready to go. They were so organized. I was also happy to see that everyone had face masks! The staff cared enough to make sure we felt safe and they were readily available to help customers. We want to say thank you. I really like the size of the store...not too big nor small...just right. Good prices on bags of organic potatoes, tri color organic peppers, and organic apples when in season. I'm also a fan of their tea tree shampoo that my daughter uses for her dry scalp. Affordable and effective, it's a lot gentler on her scalp than typical drugstore products. Really like this location and it's the closest to us. It's busy but not too bad if you go at the right time. Getting in the parking lot is easy but leaving is kinda a pain. Love there $2 wine and they have really cool frozen stuff. The store is always clean and the employees are always so friendly. Will shop here until they build one closer to Cedar Park. read more
