I've been going to Traders Joes for over 25 years. The staff there is always friendly and eager to help. Rarely do we have a long line to check out. I love their prices and having organic and gluten free opens. They have a great wine selection with reasonable prices. Great coffee prices too! I love their samples in the back and more times than not, I go ahead and purchase one of the samples their having. If you've never been to a Trader Joes, you got to stop in. read more

Attention my neighborhood Trader Joe's in Portland - please visit your brethren in this most ugly of TJ's locations - Carson City. I am grudgingly coming to terms with Oregon's draconian liquor laws but this place is stocked to the gills with all manner of vodka, whiskey and tequila (actually the tequila selection blows). The wine aisle blows Portland's Trader Joe's out of the water - I'm coming back to PDX with a car full of booze worthy of a rum runner. It's bigger, better and generally the most awesome TJ's around, and this includes some of the originals in SoCal. Hollywood TJ's - knock down the wall and take over Panera - it's not that great and according to that annoying guy who does the "eat this, not that" columns you are better off eating a vat of bacon grease with a chaser of a case of Haagen Dazs bars than one of their turkey sandwiches. Side note for Southern Californians only: I kid you not, my people, there is an In n' Out across the parking lot from this place. Nirvana. Or Mudhoney. Maybe the Meatpuppets. This is the one reason I would move to Carson City...it makes all other Trader Joe's I've been to pale in comparison. There are expansive aisles, ample parking and plenty of items in stock. What more could one ask for? FYI 2-buck chuck is actually 3-buck chuck...I guess they actually truck that stuff in. Please, please make my local TJ's this nice! Very clean grocery store with a wide variety of foods, snacks and groceries. Large selection in wine, and can usually trust their products in terms of quality and taste. If you are ever unsatisfied with their products, you can return for a refund. This location had a large parking lot, since it shares the vicinity with several other places. read more

I LOVE Trader Joe's. One day when when fairies populate the tropical forests of Hawaii will there possibly be one on Oahu. But until then, I'm just going to absolutely enjoy every trip I can make to this lovely favorite grocery spot of mine. In fact, skip Whole Foods unless you're some wealthy snoot and shop here, the prices are just perfect! Trader Joe's doesn't have the best produce (I no longer buy apples here because I can't count on them not being soft already) but I buy just about everything else here: soy milk, cheese, pre-packed veggies, bread, soup.... Okay, you get it. I love their prices and I love that their employees are so helpful and ridiculously cheery. So if you're in search of a grocery store, avoid Walmart (since it never has anything in stock anyway) and come here!!!! read more

Really hate if I have to go to this place. Can't ever find anything, staff is always too busy to help find anything. A couple staff have been rude. I rather order through Amazon if possible. Sadly sometimes they are the only ones around that have what I need. Which is probably why they are swamped and not very friendly. Definitely try to avoid this place. read more

Ok. I don't think Trader Joe's needs an intro. By now we all pretty much know what to expect from this establishment. This store is typical TJ's. We shop here every week for the special items we always get here. I love their organic plain yogurt, some of their produce (especially their apples), and yes, their snacks and appetizers. The wine aisle is a 'must visit' every trip too. The folks who work here are extremely friendly (a prerequisite for the job, I'd guess) and knowledgeable. We've got our favorites and seek them out on every visit. I spend way too much money at Trader Joes. I can't even help myself. I feel like I'm here on a weekly basis. It is my favorite place to get my groceries in all of the Carson Valley. Can I give this place more than five stars? The cheese and wine selection give it an automatic 5 stars. And then there's the convenience food section in the cold aisle. It's always stocked with tasty salads, those black bean and cheese burritos, wraps and sushi that will do in a pinch. There's always something new to try. I love that they have a sample station. Today I tried one of their salads and a butternut squash ravioli and strawberry lemonade. You can also help yourself to a sample of coffee. The employees are always so nice and eager to help you find something. There was one time they were out of burritos and I was told they would start ordering extra because they were becoming more popular. I guess if I had to come up with something that isn't so great about Trader Joes is that they don't have everything you may need when cooking a meal. How can anyone not love this place? We stopped and got all kinds of goodies for our vacation condo. We loved the 2 buck chuck, (now 3 buck chuck) the creamy hummus, the great tortilla's, the fruit juices, chocolate covered espresso beans, peanut butter cups, all the cheeses and crackers, and the list goes on. We did not however enjoy the rack of lamb or the grilled veggies. They just weren't right. read more

It's Trader Joes', but there's no cooked food samples. :( I'm downgrading Trader Joe's. I miss some of the really cheap, 1.99 large snack, borderline meal size items. Now we find frozen spaghetti and meatballs for 4.99, 6.99 frozen entrees to go along with Nevada's 3 buck Chuck (2 buck Chuck in California, a mere 9 miles away) and price hikes on just about all items. I've been a big fan of Trader Joe's for ages. The superior product selection which had almost no trans fats even before it became really unpopular, was often low in saturated fat, had a great variety of gourmet and international offerings (including the first stroopwaffels I found in the worth a damn) still exists (with popular items like Annie's microwaveable mac and cheese being almost transparently replaced by their brand), but it just doesn't feel the same. This particular Trader Joe's has really friendly staff. It has a totally different vibe than the Reno Trader Joe's. It's easy to get into and out of the parking lot and it's rarely crowded. The only odd thing is the location of a wooden fence in front of the parking spots in the front of the store on the right side. I have to sort of shimmy by or back out and walk around my car to go into the store. It's a little odd, but it's still much easier to move around than it is at the reno store. The store is spaced well, but not just large space with not enough items. It seems like a nice balance from the old Emeryville Trader Joe's (crowded hell) and the overly expanded and underfilled Reno Trader Joe's. One of the best things about Trader Joe's is that you can try anything in the store if you ask. They may have to take the item back to the sample area and it may take a few minutes, but you can do it. Asking for recommendations from store personnel certainly doesn't hurt. I've gotten into and out of this store in minutes. It was fantastic. I do feel that Whole Foods Market has been a bad influence. The great deals of Trader Joe's couldn't last forever, but I feel like it all came at once and miss the good old days that seem like just a few years ago. read more

I LOVE Trader Joe's!!! Like so much love is almost an understatement. I love all the original meals, appetizers, and products they create. They are great in a pinch and the quality is phenomenal for frozen food. They have candles now, and I'm obsessed! The wine selection is always amazing for a pretty small store. A good selection of fresh fruits and veggies and canned goods. All products are very reasonable for the quality. Gorgeous plants and flowers are offered at a really great price. The staff is always super nice and seen throughout the store cleaning and restocking items. The one in Carson City is a little bigger and better laid out than the one in Reno and the parking situation is a lot easier. The only thing I wish is Trader Joe's had everything so I wouldn't need to shop at other places. read more

They have great ideas on how to use their products, which is always nice since I am not familiar with a lot of their inventory. Like nearly every other Trader Joe's I've shopped at, this store is clean, well-stocked, and has great customer service. I've been a Trader Joe's shopper for a long time, so I kinda have a routine of what I buy there, vs. what I buy from Costco and other grocery stores, so I'm not put off at all by the selection or that it doesn't have everything I might want. For those visiting TJ's for the first time, don't expect to get every single item on your list, and obviously don't expect to find the brands you're used to seeing at Safeway. In my opinion, the best things to get at Trader Joe's are the gourmet, international, organic, and specialty ingredients- usually they will be on par with Whole Foods quality, but for much lower prices. If you rely heavily on frozen meals and mostly prepared foods, it does get pricey as there are not the super bargain priced frozen dinners you'll find at the regular grocery stores, but the quality of what they do have is usually better (in my humble opinion). Every time I visit, I usually have a list of my usual TJ's staples like organic canned beans, coconut milk, yogurt, frozen fruits and veggies, frozen raw chicken breast tenderloins, sauces/condiments/spices, crackers, dried fruit and nuts, olive oil, beef stock, a whole chicken, a couple bottles of wine, and at least one kind of cheese.... and then I let myself get one or two snack or dessert foods, and maybe a pack of frozen pizza crusts or other frozen meal for an easy weeknight dinner. I don't usually buy a lot of fresh produce here because as other reviews mention, much of it is wrapped in plastic and I think the fact that they charge per item rather than by weight on the unwrapped produce ends up making it more pricey than other stores. read more

Merry Christmas got off work and raced across town to purchase a gift card as last minute Christmas gift. There were still people in the store but the doors were locked the manager was standing by the exit and I asked her if I could please purchase a gift card no shopping just a gift card it was 6:01 I guess they close at 6 so of course they wouldn't let me come in and buy a gift card guess they just missed out on a $500 sale Merry Christmas . I love shopping here! The Carson store is by far, the best. The employees always give me GREAT ideas for meals that are cost effective, and they are always AWESOME! Even when they are busy, they always open another lane so your visit is quick! My only criticism is the parking lot sucks. I don't normally go to Trader Joe's, or as I call it TJs', that often. I'm more of a Raley's kinda guy, they don't hit you over the head with hippie nonsense as hard. That being said I was in Carson for a business trip and stopped at this TJs' and was blown away by how clean the store was, how friendly the employees were, and how little hippie nonsense I had to deal with (at most 30%). Best part of the experience besides the fruit bars was my cashier Riley W. She gave me a look that said "yeah I know the hippie nonsense is here, sorry, have a nice day." read more

Over the years we have heard so much positive feedback about Trader Joe's we finally decided to try shopping there. Yes, the employees are pretty friendly, etc, but the products have been just one big disappointment! First and foremost, the bulk of the produce is precut and prepackaged and the fruit is stocked so under-ripe it never ripens properly once you get it home. Epic fail! Second, non of Joe's supposedly NON GMO products are verified as such and there is no info on the packaging. Not going back except maybe for bread. read more

I'm here at least once a week. I love this TJ's. It's clean, usually fully stocked, and has a great alcohol selection.

Loooove the vibe in these stores. People so full of Aloha here. Prices are awesome and products priced great. My favorites:....Canned Beets in Vinaigrette, Fennel, Naan, Hummus, Persian Cucumbers, Butter Lettuce, Mochi Ice Cream, and organic chicken tenders are droolicious. Love TJ's. It's not health foods like people would think but you can find things there to pick out that are good for you. People are mistaken about that. You can find fruits and items from different parts of the world. There premade salads are pretty good and meat not so bad if you like lamb from australia. So if you want fresh, you need to be careful not to mistake TJ's as some health food store. They have a really good beer and wine selection and prices are not outrageous like people think it is. I go here all the time and pick out some regular items whenever I get the chance. Love the free sample bar in the back as well as the free sample of coffee. Love me some Trader Joe's. read more
