This little retail area badly needed something new besides boutique, hair/nail salon, beauty salon, jewelry salon, lifestyle designer, clothing consignment store or studio for a better YOU. Just a bit different, no need to overdo things in this little area behind the small Menke Park / Piccolo Pavilion area in Corte Madera. Hiding in plain sight as it were, there have always been salons of one stripe or another along the block, essentially a salon of salons. For a time I did find something here for myself, way back when vhs rental movies were a thing. This was in a fairly large retail space, almost like a separate little cottage at the far east end, around the corner and somewhat hidden from view from the parking lot. Ironic then that this is the very place I find myself going again today. Zonda Meats is the addition to this area that's especially timely now as grocers nearby are closed, and premium quality butcher shops almost nonexistent. I happened on Zonda the other day while biking down the little side street of Montecito that forms the east side of the small park. The owner in residence, Alberto Lataliste, is from Argentina but has been in the USA for many years. I worked in northern Argentina for more than a decade and developed a great appetite for the beef raised there, and the way cuts of meat often follow muscle groups rather than slicing through them as is done here. Alberto's focus on meat quality is to identify and import quality producers there and delivering without freezing or addition of preservative. The selection is extensive so you'll benefit from making your own quality comparisons. In addition to the meat counter, there are excellent sandwiches and in near future my own favorite, empanada. The sandwiches are very generous and outside is a pleasant courtyard with tables for lunch. I'm glad to see an assortment of imported preserved meat, and another favorite of mine, Dulce de Leche from Argentina, which is much superior to the few brands made here. So here's to a great reception for Zonda Meats, arriving just in time for summer grilling in my backyard parrilla. read more

Marin has been without a great standalone butcher shop since Paoli's in Tiburon closed years ago. (Many of the butcher counters in supermarkets are just staffed with glorified clerks to give the impression of a real butcher shop.) We have been pleased with all of the products we've purchased from Zonda - ribeye steaks, pork chops, bacon, and a variety of sausages. The quality is top notch - tender, flavorful, and worth the drive. (And occasional difficult parking.) I especially want to call out the chicken apple sausage. It actually tastes of apple. So many don't. The staff has always been exceptionally helpful. They're always ready to make recommendations and to help you select the perfect cut of meat. The shop itself is clean and bright. read more

Zonda is amazing-- really high quality meats. Just added chicken and steak kebobs. They sell sandwiches as well that are tasty and generously portioned. Rumor has it they're adding even more sandwiches and getting their wine license in the next couple of weeks! Also sells some convenience items like cheeses, pastas, sauces, chips, crackers. They have empanadas as well that I haven't yet tried. Super cute indoor and outdoor seatings. The staff/owners are really nice and knowledgeable. Great addition to the area! read more

I was looking for somewhere different for a sandwich rather than a regular old grocery store deli. I am so thrilled to have found this spot. I got the roasted turkey on Dutch crunch with everything. Oh. My. Goodness. Might be one of the most perfect deli sandwiches I've ever had. I was almost halfway through my sandwich, thoroughly enjoying every bite, when I realized they use bread and butter pickles instead of dill. They weren't too sweet, it was subtle enough it took me awhile to notice. That being said if you don't like sweet pickles or sweet/savory maybe leave the pickles off. I can't wait to come back for my next sandwich and pick up one of their amazing looking New York strip steaks. Looks like a quality butcher shop. read more

Came here starving after getting my brows done next door at Michele Holmes Studio. Zonda is a really cool and modern space that offers some small grocery items in addition to a wide selection of meat. I grabbed to-go sandwiches for my husband and I, and they were out of this world! 10/10 for the roast beef and the El Padrino, both on Dutch crunch rolls. The staff was charming and very helpful. I am so looking forward to coming back to check out their meat selection and hopefully become a regular customer! read more

We were taking a walk by the gazebo on Montecito Drive with our lab and were pleasantly surprised to find a new high end high meat store tucked in the corner. The specialty meats are outstanding.
