This was the first time I have ever stepped foot into Trader Joe's and it won't be the last. It is an outstanding alternative to the Jewel's and Dominick's of the world. I found stuff that I know I would not be able to find elsewhere. The prices were a little higher than what I am used to paying but to buy organic and eat healthier is worth it. Tell me why I can't leave this store with a less than 100$ grocery bill, and my standard bill at Jewell is like $59.87? It's because everything looks just so appealing. Everything looks like it's going to be great. I'm in the process of sorting out what is great and what is not so great at TJs. The staples I always get there: 1. Napa Cabernet for 4.99/bottle. I like it better than Charles Shaw and the hangovers are less traumatic 2. Frozen brown rice 3. Whole wheat Couscous 4. Rice blends in a bag 5. Indian sauce/veggie boxes (near the rice and pasta), all the flavors were good. I prepare meat and then add this to the meat to have with rice 6. Fresh organic dairy products 7. Free range meats/cold cuts 8. Cheeses 9. Frozen fish, 10. Dark rye bread loaf, and also the fresh loafs 11. Canned tomatoes I don't recommend the frozen free range beef, after a few tries we agreed it tasted fishy. Most of their frozen meals/appetizers are horrible. Charles Shaw wine will give you a bad hangover. It's just fermented grape juice with added oaky flavor to make it seem better than it is. It's easy to drink half a bottle and think you're fine, until the next day. I generally don't get their sauces, sauces, hummuses, etc. These are hit or miss and it's not worth the cost to experiment. Stick with the stuff that works and it's a great deal for gourmet food. read more

I seriously do NOT know what I would do without Trader Joe's! They are the middle class person's gateway to healthier, non-processed and organic foods at affordable prices. HEART. :] A few things that make Trader's the BEST EVER: 1. The prices are insanely reasonable. 2. Everything tastes AMAZING. And if you buy something and it turns out you think it's not so good... 4. They will exchange ANYTHING, even if you've already opened and tried it, no questions asked! Just bring it to the counter as you enter the store, tell them you weren't a fan, and they'll hold it for you until you check out. Then they remove the cost of the item from your bill for that day. This fosters you trying new things without worrying about "wasting money" if you don't like it! And the best part is that 95% of the time, you WILL like it. :] 5. The employees are so friendly! I don't know what's in their break room water, but these people are seriously great. 6. They always have a free sample out. This is another way to try new things without any financial commitment... but normally ends up leading to a new item being added to your cart. ;] 7. The produce is great! Being from Southern CA, I didn't realize it would be so tough to find good produce around here, but this Trader's has saved me! They also have locally sourced produce during the summer time. This I LOVE! I could go on and on, but if I haven't convinced you yet, then it's hopeless. You know Trader Joe's is a good place when you go for a list of staples and you wind up finding so much more that you want to try out. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. This store in La Grange is not overwhelmingly busy. Good location if you have other errands. read more

YES!!!!! love it, not pricey like whole foods, has fresh chicken and meat, great veggies, and fruit, lots of cheeses, and super friendly staff. bring you own bag and you get a raffle ticket for free stuff. tip: buy the pizza dough, thier pizza sause, and some of thier cheese, go home, roll the dough, put a little evoo on it a little sea salt, then the sauce and cheese, bake at 425, or 375, and for the last minute in the broiler, woohoo!! you have a great pizzeria pizza at home, all for like 4 bucks!! read more

A relative of mine brought over an apple pie from here for a holiday party. It was the best apple pie I have ever had. So last night, I decided to go there myself. Wow, do they have a selection of food! I filled my cart with a lot of single portion foods, all organic and healthy, and just a few thing I never tried before, because I've never seen it at the local grocery. And of course, another apple pie! The cashier was super friendly, as was the rest of the staff. I most definitely can find myself grocery shopping here on a regular basis! read more

WE SWEAR BY IT!!!! The first time we set foot in a Trader Joe's, our first impression was "Wow! This is going to cost us an arm and a leg!" After all, they sell organic food, caviar, fine cheeses and wine. Then we looked at the prices. We go there often enough that the some of the staff recognizes us. They also give us plenty of suggestions on different ways to prepare the food we purchase. We've tried them and it's all good. It is also one of the few grocery stores that actually unloads the grocery cart for you. How is that for service? We buy the vast majority of our groceries there (with the money we save on the high quality groceries, we can afford to buy the balance at either Wild Oats or Whole Foods). The only thing that is amiss is the fact that in April, Jay, the wine guy left. After that, the wine tastings have been sporadic (we do base our wine purchases on wines we taste there). It is indeed the greatest thing since sliced bread, that they just happen to sell. read more

I really like this location mainly because of its ease of parking and set up. Parking is free for a couple of hours and there are some great stores nearby that are worthing popping in to. This TJ is usually well stocked and I am a fan of the products (especially the liquor department!). read more

LOVE this place!The prices are about the same for many items you would find at Jewel or Dominick's. Great selection of organics at a WAY better price than Whole Paycheck. For those of you who are curious about the 2 Buck Chuck-I would advise against it. I am by no means a wine snob-but I would not waste my money. I've shopped at Trader Joe's in 3 states and I think this location is my favorite so far. Nice size and a large produce section compared to others I've visited. Lots of fresh breads, flowers and of course, the reasonably priced coffee. One of today's specials was Joe's Dark for only $3.99 a can! The service here is always incredibly helpful and friendly. I always feel like I end up having a long conversation with whoever is checking me out. Whenever I am here I end up getting some frozen appetizers-I especially love the mini hot dogs in puff pastry! The pretzel thins are a favorite as well as the sushi. I am always here whenever I want a quality bottle of wine-my favorite here are the La Granja brand. All of the varieties are tasty and reasonable. When its Christmas-time, try out their limited release holiday beer-my whole family seems to love it! read more

One of my favorite places for grocery shopping!! They have an impressive selection of organic, vegetarian/vegan, gluten-free, healthy, and delicious foods, at suprisingly low prices. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable of the products they're selling. They have free samples of yummy things every day and a wall of free recipes to try. Trader Joe's isn't a place to go for every week grocery shopping (unless you've got plenty of extra $$$ to pay for top quality items, so I use it for specialty items. Today I noticed their nuts, seeds and dried fruits are actually quite nicely priced much cheaper than most places. Today's take for me was some blue cheese, some roasted and salted almonds, organic green and black tea bags and some veggie chips. Good stuff, decent prices - just not my everyday grocery. I started shopping here several years ago. I am here about once a week. This Trader Joe's has a great variety of foods that are reasonably priced. I also like their selection of wines and beers. You can get some good deals, especially on the wines. There is plenty of parking outside the store. Also, I've got to say the employees here are all super friendly and helpful. Having a Trader Joe's so close to home is just nice! And add the adjectives big, clean, ample parking and almost always well stocked and you have a nice little grocery store. Trader Joe's is my go to store for things like peanut butter, organic yogurt, basic cheese's, rice milk, hummus and already made black bean soup in a carton. I also love their frozen appetizers and while I don't buy them often - they are great to have on hand when an unexpected gathering pops up or some small bites and wine sound perfect for dinner. Speaking of wine, I have to say that I love how TJ's tries to add new wines regularly and often has a good mix of very inexpensive and moderately priced wines. I have only been here on Saturday mornings, close to opening time, so I can't really comment on how it is when they are busy, but I can imagine they are okay. Great store. SO MANY interesting items that I feel guilty about standing in the aisles looking at everything while the "regulars" in their jogging outfits run past and around me. Besides a fine selection of your average groceries, the trade brand of TJ's offers so many eclectic AND tasty items. Haven't really been disappointed by anything I've tried for a first time. The products are well described and the quality is there of course, so there are no surprises. There are so many items! I don't think one can come here looking for ingredients to every menu plan (say German, Cajun, Polish,etc.) But if that is anyone's fault, it's probably the customer's for EXPECTING to find everything here. It's a great store, but not all-encompassing. But they have enough food for everyone. Price is always an important subject in stores like this, and they really aren't all that bad (not like Whole Foods). I can buy a cart full for the range of $70-$110, depending on the items. The crazy thing too is that they usually bag them in two or three shopping bags at most! These guys are professional. It's nice to not have to unload the groceries, then bag them myself. I get to relax. Which brings me to the employees. Wow! They are happy. And helpful. They are so happy, that I considered quitting my job and working at TJ's. Maybe that would rub off on me. Just really cool. Come here and browse if you ever feel depressed. All in all, it's nice to finally know what my suburban family and friends have known for years--Trader Joes is the place for good food, that's most likely good FOR you, and at good prices. read more

I have to admit, the first several times I went to Trader Joe's, I really didn't get what my friends were so excited about. But now I have my own understanding. You don't have to like everything there. You don't even have to like most of it. But what you do like, you love and can't do without. For example, the almond windmill cookies, the organic half-and-half and the the chicken tamales. I wish that their meat/produce section was better, although I know many people that think it's great. Anyway, the workers are always helpful and pleasant. My daughter loves the little carts and the balloons. I like their concept. It's working. read more

Great stuff! Wonderful selection of gluten free items for my husband, and I love their frozen lunches. Soooo much better than Lean -Cuisines. I'd heard a rumor that they get new shipments 3 times daily, they're so busy. I've never been there when there isn't a crowd. Despite the crowds, the people are handled quickly and efficiently, so you don't notice how busy it actually is. Only negative was that every time I buy produce there, it doesn't last as long as produce from Jewel or Dominick's. read more

I love this place. I could shop there always- it has become my first choice for food shopping. I still need Jewel or Target for house hold goods. But all my food shopping is done at TJ's first. The staff is so helpful and friendly. They go out of their way to locate items or check on their status.
