I don't get up to trader Joe's often but when I do I'm never disappointed. I found little strawberry rhubarb hand pies ,lychee fruit and got a fruit medley along with some flowers, sesame oil and the fruit jelly candies that are better then sunkist fruit jellies. Always a solid shopping experience, even if some people working there are a bit rude as they restock and shoppers are a bit hurried when parking. The staff at the checkout are always lovely and make an effort to engage genuinely. Flowers, cards, pasta, and frozen vegetables are a great deal; produce, meat, and dairy can be pricey depending on what you're buying. Specialty items like lemon curd, pesto, focaccia, and dried fruit are usually worth it. And of course, the best priced alcohol anywhere. The frozen food area has so many tempting meal options from pasta dishes to seafood and ethnic food choices. We have favorites we have to get every time we go there but we never leave without several new items we can't wait to try. Get something you don't like? They guarantee their products- return it! (We never have found anything we haven't enjoyed, though.) Next door Trader Joe's has a spirit store with many wines and bourbons. Usually, I choose not to post reviews, but this was necessary. On behalf of my friend, I am posting this because it really upsets me. Especially because the workers are always so sweet and nice. She went in wearing her military uniform and bought flowers. When she walked up to the checkout lane, she asked the gentleman standing there how are you-he chose to ignore her. After scanning her flowers, he threw them down. Didn't speak to her at all, and when she went to pay, he turned completely around and chose not to acknowledge her or say have a nice day, nothing. I understand people have their opinions, but I think Trader Joe's should teach their employees not to be disrespectful to anyone at any time. I would like to think he was just having a bad day with no ill intentions behind it, and doesn't treat others the same, especially people who serve this country. Hello please do try this it is very tasty juicy wonderful dinner and I did not always enjoy for family dinner...it is seasoned perfectly obviously key to pack in seasonings. I cooked in a glass dish broil 5 min on each side turning even on both sides then lowered to bake 250 for 10 min. I should have lowered to 300° for ten but no more than this...it was perfect some pink just like a perfect picture of cooked lamb. It was easy and so much better than eating out!!! Lived a while in Lexington without visiting this Trader Joe's, both because I wasn't sure it filled a big niche in my shopping routine, but also because it's a bit awkward and confusing getting into this shopping center (particularly driving from downtown and turning left). It is not a huge store, but it pretty much delivers what you'd expect of a TJ's: limited but intriguing selection, good prices, and a positive shopping experience. Compared to WF, I don't find a lot of niche items that I like (or TJ's has something I'm not satisfied with), and I don't get a bunch of local brands like at Good Foods. However, there were plenty of things worth buying, from appetizers in a large freezer aisle to miniature avocados. For me anyway, this store will only ever be a minority of my shopping, but if I let my Amazon prime expire and shift from WF to here, I may be doing a good thing for myself and the world. read more

Everyone likes Trader Joe's so I won't go into the pluses, just would like Trader Joe's to pay attention to the quality of their produce. I know what to buy and not to buy in the produce department, but some things that were ok have gotten worse, such as bagged spinach and now arugula. Spinach is always wet in the middle of the bag and if you don't take steps to separate, dry and re-bag, it will be a slimy mess within days. Now the arugula is getting bad as the last bag I bought is filled with stems and even buds and flowers. TJ started getting cilantro from a new source, inside a little plastic box, the leaves are wet and they rot before I can use them. This was not the case with the previous supply. I don't see these problems when I purchase these items elsewhere so it is a supplier problem. Also what is with the one single piece of rotten fruit in every bag? This never used to be the case, again requiring extra work to remove, wash and dry the other fruits to stop the rot from spreading. Many things are good about TJ but these are getting irritating. You have to love Trader Joe's ! There own brand of products never disappoint. Produce is outstanding , best customer service around. The prices may be a little more and the selection not as much as the bigger stores but I can get done shopping much quicker and on with my day. The location can be challenging at certain times a day . I avoid late afternoon and weekends. There very good about sanitizing the carts and baskets. You can not be careful right now. 10/10. The service is great, prices are great, options are great. I went in my third time since moving up here after hurricane Helene. I was cracking jokes and chatting with someone who worked there (I didn't catch her name) and we got to talking about Christmas and decor. I mentioned how we didn't lose much in the hurricane but we lost our Christmas decorations and tree so we are super behind. She said "everybody is barely hanging on this year!" I agreed. When I checked out and went to go out of the door she put a wreath and a poinsettia in my buggy followed with a "welcome to Lexington!" I was so tickled I cried afterwards. It really made me overcome with hope and love. Everytime I look at the wreath or flower I get filled with happiness. I'm not sure if she bought it, was a manager or owner and gifted it, or what. I recently left my job and that means I need to conserve on luxuries like grocery and dinner deliveries to our door. And well, let's face it, in the last 18 months, I've put some door dash executive's kid through their first year of college. But as I begin menu planning- that alien word that means I will be deciding on, and making our meals in house- I find a whole new appreciation of the kind of real customer service provided by Trader Joe's. Case in point - went in the other day - shopped. Forgot something I wanted. Called them to see if they had it. They checked. Not there. They said on truck tonight. Then asked if I wanted them to set aside. You'd do that, I asked. They would, they replied. I can then come pick it up tomorrow, I asked. You can, they answered. They took my cell number in case the item didn't come in that night. That evening I got a call from Trader Joe's. A nice person was calling to assure me that my requested item did, in fact, come in, and that they had reserved four of them for me as requested for pickup tomorrow sometime. I found that level of service to the customer remarkable. So today, I go back to store to pick up my item. I walk in, look around- the store is jam packed. Busy busy busy. But all the employees are hopping. No grass growing under their feet at all. And customers are moving through the lines and aisles with ease and not big waiting at all. I stopped someone and ask them who I see to pick up my items and she happily says- you can see me! She asked my name and went to pick up my items. She actually used my name twice during our exchange. A very nice personal touch. You want interesting and tasty items? You want to feel like a VIP while shopping? You want excellent customer service like you didn't even know exists any longer - you want to be treated like a persons and like you matter? Then Trader Joe's should be your destination. The little grocery store that could - and does- right here in south Lexington. Thanks, Trader Joe's, for showing us REAL customer service isn't just a thing of the past. I love Trader Joe's! I moved to Louisville from a small town, so we didn't have a variety of grocery stores to choose from, but now there's a Trader Joe's around five miles from my house. I don't do all of my grocery shopping there, but I make special trips for specific items that I love. So, during my last Lexington visit, given that I had never been to this location, my cousin, sister-in-law, and I decided to stop in and check it out. TJ's has a great selection! It's a full grocery, with anything you could ever need, but I specifically love to shop here for special dinners and parties, frozen goods, and produce; as well as for seasonal items. I visited this location in December, so we were able to grab some awesome holiday treats, like Jingle Jangle. If you haven't tried it, be sure you get it during the next holiday season. It's so delicious! I definitely suggest checking out Trader Joe's if you haven't been yet. This location was great. Quick and friendly service, and a great selection! read more

Like Trader Joe's grocery store, Trader Joe's Wine store is an amazing place full of strange and interesting things I want to rry. When you first walk in, you'll see the display for the "three buck chuck" or $2.99 Charles Shaw wine. Buy a bottle or two of your favorite style, cab, merlot, chardonnay, zin. They really are good quality and they make really good sangria. They also have other wines at affordable prices. One of my favorites is the blue fin Riesling. It's affordable and it is the right style of riesling for my taste, slightly sweet. If wine isn't your thing, there is also a selection of hard liquor. I'll come out and say it, I am a bourbon snob. Trader Joe's has their own brand of bourbon. It is bottled in kentucky. I think the difference between trader Joe's bourbon and high end (single barrel, small batch) is that this bourbon is blended, meaning they open a bunch of barrels, stir it up and bottle it. Many companies do this for the low end side of their booze. This is a good bourbon for making cocktails--think kentucky mule: ginger beer, bourbon and lime. (And you can get the lime and ginger beer next door at the grocery side.) As far as other liquors, you can still get patron, Malibu and things like that. But the real deals come with getting the Trader Joe branded ones. They also have Trader Joe branded beer. While I have tried a few, I'm not in love with any thing yet. IPAS are not my thing so someone else may REALLY love it. Overall, the prices are reasonable. The selection is decent. You can easily go in there planning for a party and not break the bank. read more

1st things 1st, I am a big fan of Trader Joes. Cute, colorful packaging, well-priced organics, I'm on board. When Lexington opened up a TJs on Nicholasville Rd a few years back, I was stoked! The store is on the smaller side- which is nice in a way- not overwhelming you with too many options of what is essentially the same products. TJs has all the main grocery categories: fruit/veg, breads, meat/dairy, canned & packaged foods, frozen section. Overall, the foods are pretty similarly priced to Krogers- some things are less, some are more, it all seems to even out at checkout. The produce department is decent- can be hit or miss based on the season. Where TJs really shines is their packaged foods. Somehow they can turn a product that I normally wouldn't buy into something that absolutely ends up in my shopping cart- whether it be because of the free sample I was offered or the seemingly fresh twist put on the food thanks to the clever marketing. And it always is delicious! Some of my favorite things are the "cowboy caviar salsa", frozen "superfood pilaf", frozen "acai puree packets" (great for smoothies), & if you haven't sprinkled their "everything but the bagel" seasoning on your avocado toast, are you even a millennial?!?! That all being said, I think Lex has outgrown our one TJs location. Lately, no matter what time I've gone, its been a complete madhouse inside. Totally lucked out having this store right across from my hotel, Home2 Suites by Hilton - which actually has full kitchens (dishwasher/fridge and all). Great place to stock up on healthy snacks or ingredients for meals if you're working/staying near the medical center. Any time I come to a new town, I like to brewery hop. The Trader Joe's here has a separate beer/wine store which has an excellent selection of local craft beers. A great place to kind of "fill in the blanks" and make some sampler packs for the same price (sometimes less) than what you'd pay at the brewery. Got some good stuff from Lexington, Louisville and all the way from Cincy!! Everything here was just a beautiful, fresh, clean palate of colors! And of course all the employees are super helpful and friendly! I would expect nothing less!!! read more

I love coming to TJ's! I love their Chow mein, macaroons, chocolate chip cookies, pretty much everything they carry! I just love being in this store. The produce is always fresh. The frozen section has plenty of delicious meals and snacks, from Kathi rolls (roti with potatoes stuffing) to red pesto tortellini. The TJ's chicken Chow mein makes for a quick and filling dinner for two. And the macaroons! I could go on and on about those delectable macaroons! Half a dozen each of vanilla and chocolate flavors, they're in the frozen section too. The thing is, I never knew they had a liquor section right next door until I read all the other Yelp reviews. Like, was I tunnel visioned or something? Anyway, this weekend when I was there, I made my way to the little store next door and got me some 3 buck Chucks. Love that they carry Buffalo Trace distillery's bourbon cream for a good price too. Sucks that I don't have a store like this nearby though. read more

I love going to Trader Joe's for a few favorites but every time I go, I find new favorites! I love their holiday selections (great dessert & chocolate treats) and their frozen food, there are so many options! Their customer service is impeccable and the tasting station is always fun; they're usually sampling coffee and something from their frozen section. For example, today they had bacon wrapped scallops & after trying them I just had to pick up a box! This store is also great for party snacks and flowers; great selection at very reasonable prices. Having their wine/liquor store next door is a bonus; some wines are pretty tasty even though their prices are low. read more

I started going to this Trader Joes as a frequent regular only recently. I'm honestly always excited to go to Trader Joes. Like, what's in the water cooler there? All the employees are so damn cheerful! I hope they actually love their jobs because they're great at at least acting like it! Big ups for the service with a smile. For Xmas i go there to pick out a foodie gift basket for my dad and there's always someone at the ready to enthusiastically contribute suggestions. And I liiiive for their coffee and snack samples My main draw initially for shopping at Trader Joes was their awesome frozen foods. I'm trying to lose some weight and I work late so i don't have much energy to cook fresh foods. I often hear people complain "Trader Joes is sooo expensive", which i can understand on some items, but they have some really great deals in their frozen foods section that are LEAGUES more exciting than the sad ass frozen fare at Kroger/Meijer/etc and additionally, nutritionally wholesome. Dieting is hard for someone like me who loves to devour garbage, but i've been having success and eating a lotta trader joe's stuff. Hands down my favorite grocery store- even if we have to drive up from Georgetown to get it (hint hint- build in Georgetown). The people who work here are always happy and pleasant. They are always really helpful if I can't find something I'm looking for as well! The store is always well lit and the selection is always fresh and aisles are always neat! Price wise- they're less expensive than Whole Foods but the quality is just as good if not better. They do not have self check out but it doesn't matter because they have a system down so you're out in a jiff- always enough registers open. Even at closing!! I love too that every time I take in my reusable bags- they do a little entering to win a Trader Joe's gift card and they do that monthly. So much goodness. read more

The main reason that I ever go to TJs for the 3 Buck Chuck. What's that you ask? It's $3 bottles of wine. Chardonnay, Cab, Merlot, and almost all of the basic wines, they have. Not the screw on cap, usual cheap wine either, it's excellent, mid shelf wine, in my opinion. Now the cat is out of the bag though, I don't consider myself as a wine snob, I go here for the cheap stuff. They do have the higher, more expensive wines too. They also offer wine tastings at certain times too... so look for that, usually around the customer service like desk podium, mid store to the right. This store which is attached to the main grocery store, it has a separate entrance which makes it all the more convenient for me to swing in and pick up a couple bottles of wine... alright, maybe not just a couple, I go and stock up. I used to be a Trader Joe's fanatic. Trader Joe's was THE place to shop for cheap, 'trendy' healthy foods. Then... I found other stores, and TJ's kept dropping lower on my radar as I realized how limited their selection really was (and have you noticed that nearly everything is packaged!?). However, they're still good for many things that I swear you cannot find as good elsewhere like mango Mochi ice cream, mini gingerbread men cookies, spiced Chai tea mixes, the Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper Soup, the biodegradable expanding sponges, and the list goes on. All random, but all amazing. That said, I've been kind of missing TJ's. I didn't even know Lexington had one until I did a quick search over the weekend and ta-da! TJ's! I HAD to go and pick up a few grocery staples.... and Mochi ice cream. This location is typical TJ's. Small, and crowded, but stocked with the usual food items and cheap, as expected. Woo-hoo! I did appreciate that the employees walking around on the floor were holding up signs with question marks on them. Great way to spot someone if you have a question. Overall, very friendly and lively atmosphere, despite the crowds. All my favorite items were on the shelves and I had no problem zipping around everyone to get to them. I also love that I seem to get so much and yet never break the bank. Sweet. Not making this a one-stop grocery store by any means, but if I am planning to head to the co-op nearby and don't want to drop a few extra bucks on certain things, I'll swing by TJ's afterwards to score some fantastic items for cheap. read more

I will start by saying this...3 BUCK CHUCK IS BOMB! They sell certain wines for $2.97 and they are quite tasty. I usually keep the Merlot and Cab Sav in my house in mass quantities. Some people say its nasty or even call it pesticide wine or dirty wine. I say don't listen to them. If you want to good house wine or just keep some wines on hand, then grab you a few of these. The specific brand to look for is Charles Shaw aka 3 Buck Chuck. This store also carries beers, liquor, and other wines. Their staff are extremely helpful and friendly. They will give you suggestions based off of your normal taste. I like that. It helps me get something that I might truly like and not just taking a guess on my part. Please note this store is specifically for grown up juice. I have never ever set foot in the regular Trader Joe's beside it. read more

Ahh I have so many good things to say. I LOVE coming here. Even though there is a line to get inside sometimes, it moves really fast. They sanitize the carts after use. The store isn't big so I can see why the limit the amount of people shopping. It makes for a more pleasant experience once you get inside. The prices are affordable. Every item I have tried is good. My favorite feeezer meal is the mandarin orange chicken. I also love the plaintain chips, green goddess dressing, and frozen kibbeh. The staff is so friendly. I feel like they have more people working than needed which makes it easy to find someone if you have a question. read more

I love Trader Joe's! It's the best place to buy organic produce in small quantities and for a pretty reasonable price. Most of their organics are only a dollar or so more than the regular item. I also like the availability of non-produce organic items. They have great prices on cheese, but I will say that their cheeses don't seem to last as long as the ones I buy at Whole Foods. Last time I bought cheese at Trader Joe's it was moldy within 2 days and it was long before the printed expiration date. So beware of that and only buy what you will eat in a few days. I like how they offer a few samples and coffee samples near the back of the store. I think they should have more, it always encourages me to buy something I wouldn't normally buy if I can try it before buying. They have a great selection of flowers, too!!! I love the orchids. This is the cheapest I've been able to find orchids. And don't forget about the wine and beer shop! Today I was treated to yet again, excellent food and wine coaching. While considering myself a bit of a foodie these down to honest earth folks never cease to coach me up. Amazing selection, super fun to walk through, the workers are very knowledgeable of the products they have and are super helpful! There is parking and it's pretty easy to get to their location. I did a little experiment with apples and firmly believe their apples (both non-organic or organic) are the BEST you can buy. They're so juicy and crisp. Also, the organic ones also seem to taste better. I wasn't sold on buying organic before am still super am not, but that organic apple was worth the extra 5-10 cents, whatever it was. Three advantages to this place: 1. Great quality and variety of cheese! Yes, there is a mix of cheap to more expensive ones. The cheaper selection of cheeses are really good, but will not keep long in the fridge (no longer than two weeks). 2. Most affordable selection of nuts and dried fruit you are going to find at an affordable price. My favorite are the dried mango, cherries, hazelnuts, and the almonds. And guess what, there is raw, roasted without salt, roasted with 50% less salt, and roasted with salt almonds. 3. Wine, Wine, Wine. :) That about sums it all up. While they do not have the larges selection, there is a wonderful range of countries and prices. Prices start with $2.99 bottles that are more than just drinkable (if you did not know the price, you would never guess it)! Perfect budget wine, you won't find any better for $2.99. And alright, one last point then... 4. If you are not the biggest cook or need a quick dinner and do not want to go for the traditional pizza or Chinese takeout, go to Trader Joe's! What can I say. It's Trader Joes. It's amazing as all Trader Joes are. My favorite things this year: maple butter, pumpkin pancake mix, mint flavored chocolate covered marshmallows, and my husband loves Swedish swimmers. I take the Indian-themed frozen meals to work at least twice a week, and they're affordable and delicious.
