You've seen one TJ's, you've seen them all. Corporate cookie-cutter formula. A few of the frozen, canned, packaged items are tasty. Most are not. You know the low prices reflect the mass quantity pasty flavored goods with the Trader Joe's label. The "fresh" produce often isn't (fresh). What's the most important factor to rate a suburban TJ's? The parking lot size & crowdedness. This one is often full and the frustrated drivers act out poorly. Pulling into or out from the driveway onto Cleveland ave where the cars zoom past at 60mph is risky business. I've nearly been creamed there several times. I prefer to buy food at Oliver's for the better quality, better selection, better parking. I used to be a TJ's semi-regular customer, no longer. read more

We've been coming here for several years. It's the best! I recently lost a gold and sapphire ring that I made myself about 30 years ago. After looking everywhere in the car and at home, I called to see if Trader Joe's had a lost and found, not really thinking the ring would still be there. It was there! Some incredibly honest person had turned it in! I was able to be reunited with my ring the next day!!! How often does that kind of thing happen these days. I will never go here! We live behind them. Every nite at 10pm their workers get off work and just blare their music. I have put calls in to them but no luck. Now during the day it's the same way. I understand you can't really stop customers from making noise but you can at least put up signs saying don't do this. Hope they close down. read more

LOVE this place, try to grocery shop here when I have the chance. Prices are definitely worth it and the quality of the food they have in stock (either fresh or frozen) never disappoints. Some go-to staples for my fiance and I are the frozen orange chicken and teriyaki chicken; easy to make, yummy, and perfect when you want to quickly whip something together after a long day of work. Staff is always helpful, friendly, and smiling. It can get pretty busy and the parking can get a bit tight, so if possible I personally try to go during non peak hours. They also have the most beautiful and freshest assortment of flowers and plants at a great price! We always stop in here at least once whenever we're visiting Santa Rosa. The wine selection here isn't as good as it could be given the location, but we always manage to find something we'll kill off. The $5 TJ's Zin is a good choice! I AM SO FOND OF THIS STORE Whether I shop at this location, or the one on Santa Rosa Ave. I love TJ's There is health food, gourmet food, well priced wines, micro brews, protein bars of every type, Fresh flowers, coffee beans, and they even have my dog's favorite cookies! Tj's has found a new way to sell groceries, My dad started in the biz back in the late 1940's in the days that they delivered groceries to your door on the back of a bicycle. I love TJ's! Frozen items are always delicious, cook well, affordable and good quality. I do most of my shopping here now a days, I do prefer most of my veggies from else where but they are starting to do individual items like apples and bananas, so you don't have to buy all pre-packed produce. The BEST thing about TJ's, especially this store, is Mike. He is the wine rep and is AMAZING, seriously. He will give you honest opinions, chat up wine with you so that you can understand the balances of flavor and find something in your price range based on your palette. I happen to enjoy a similar wine variety as him, so his recommendations are always spot on. I just love the store, nice folk, great food and good value for the quality you receive. And their cheese section is quite good, not as good as some places but certainly worthy of a gander. read more

I recently went back to TJs to try their latest rendition of Simply Almonds, Cashews & Cranberries. The photo shows the ratio of Cranberries to Almond and Cashews (mostly cranberries). C'mon Joe, either cut back on the Cranberries or cut back on the price! Or call it "Simply Cranberries with some Cashews and Almonds". I'm going back to the local supermarket blend. read more

This year we decided to try getting some of our Thanksgiving fixings at Trader Joe's. We usually make most everything from scratch but decided to try using prepared items this year. From Trader Joe's we got their brined turkey, a box of their cornbread stuffing mix, their Orange Cranberry Relish, their Corn Pudding, their Kettle Cooked Turkey Gravy snd fresh Brussel Sprouts on the stalk. The turkey was delicious (the brine made the turkey nice and juicy). We made the dressing and "doctored" the ingredients in the box with our own additions. We added some of the turkey drippings to the TJ gravy to enhance the flavor. Everything turned out delicious and was very easy and quick to prepare. The family raved about how great all the dishes tasted. We were delighted that all our dishes were so easy to prepare and we weren't exhausted from preparing the meal. Thanks to Trader Joe's for helping us make this a super Thanksgiving feast. We will definitely be going back to prepare more meals with Trader Joe's products. read more

It is a Trader Joe's. It will have the same things as any other trader Joe's except some local beer and wine. I stopped here twice when visiting Santa Rosa when my son was playing in an ice hockey tournament. Like the Trader Joe's in Southern California, they accept Android Pay, and have tap and pay capability. It is much faster to tap your phone compared to a chip card. I wish every place that takes credit cards would take Android Pay. read more

My best bud and I are 23 and 24 respectively and tried to buy some beer along with out weeks groceries. We were buying separately but used the same cart. When we walked up to the cashier he said he needed to see both of our IDs, which was weird but we happily showed him. My ID was expired, but my buddies wasn't, and the guy said neither of us could buy the beer because my ID was expired because of "store policy." What's the policy, exactly? If a guy tries to buy beer with his five year old kid, will he be turned down because the kid doesn't have an ID? The guy didn't care to listen to an explanation of why the ID was expired (Id been living in India for he last year), he basically told us to piss off. This wasn't being cautious it was some idiot getting a high off of his "hall monitor syndrome", the smallest power trip ever. I walked out on principle without buying my groceries, people like this make me so angry who are so up tight they don't care about providing a good customer experience. In case Trader Joe's reads this, it was the short guy with the red hair and beard, I imagine he's the one who everybody hates. read more

Today at 2:30 at Trader Joe's on Cleveland Avenue, July 3, 2019 I did my shopping & returned to my car parked on their lot. I saw a dog that was locked in a dark Gray SUV. It was 86 degrees out. It is 10° hotter in a car. The windows were partially down, but the dog was panting & clearly overheated. There was no water in the car. Being concerned, I asked the nice lady who was out collecting carts to please ask the manager to call the police as I had waited about 15 minutes & the owner of the dog had not come out yet. The manager came out & refused to call the police. He said & I quote , "I see this all the time!" He agreed it was wrong & that the dog was panting. Again, he refused to call the police. Legally I could have broke the windows and I told him that. I guess he would prefer to have a dead dog or a car out in the parking lot with broken windows. I decided to hang around To wait for the owner or to get someone to call the police as I did not have my cell phone. I asked one of the male staff if they would get me a cup of water so I could try to give the dog some water being that the windows were partly down. The staff were very helpful & concerned for the dog. Finally I asked a customer to call 911. Two minutes later We see the dog hanging out the window stuck & crying. Several customers saw the dog hanging there as they were parking, they too were vividly upset. The dog finally & somehow got free. It was running around the lot. I ran to get the dog so that it would not be hit by a car on the parking lot. During the ruckus, the owner of the dog now paying for her items saw that her dog was out, left her receipt & credit card & came outside . By then the ladies who had seen all this take place came up to us & voiced their concerns as they witnessed what had happened to the dog as it was stuck trying to get free from the HOT CAR. They also witnessed it running around a lot . Keep in mind, All this took place because the manager refused to call the police. One of the employees inside said that the manager " doesn't care." I will include his name after I call the corporate office. He clearly does not care about his customers & or the well-being of animals or people left out in the hot car on the premises of a lot he is in charge of! Remember he told me he "sees this all the time!" Next time, I will ask the manager to call the police ,if they refuse, I will break the windows as is my legal right in such a case. I will then let the chips fall where they may. This manager is a disgrace. I went in and told him how upset I was after all this took place and he said "Ok," in a smart ass tone He was smug, arrogant and uncaring of the stressed this had caused many, including the dog. The manager represents Trader Joe's in a terrible light. I will continue to spread the word. I really like this TJs because it's close to my house, clean, convenient to get to instead of going to the ave, but on various accounts, there have been select employees who are so clearly annoyed with their job. While I was being "assisted" at the register and checking out a very particular employee named "Daniel, A" (this is on the receipt at least) was so unpleasant. There was no hello or hi, the simple back and forth there usually is. Instead he just snatched my ID out of my hand and dropped my change on the counter instead of in my hand. I get people can have off days, but sometimes you gotta leave that at the door before you clock in. read more

I was living for a spell in a second-story granny unit in the north end of Santa Rosa last winter. The fogs hung thick on the trees while waiting for the rain to build. Those rainclouds were like nonchalant sponges soaking in the moisture in slow motion before suddenly being squeezed, pouring down suddenly and drenching us all and everything. What would always follow were hours of overcast skies that spritzed the streets all day long. (Forgotten were the days of lemon trees and jack apple blossoms that spring provides.) We were seduced by this mood setting and claimed to be trapped (but were actually happy as clams in our modest living arrangements). A quick trip to the Trader Joes on Cleveland is never out of order on a day like this. We tend to think of ourselves on days like this. We grow weary of our wounds. We grow lonesome. So, we call friends and invite them to stop by for a toast. (They are usually holed up in their own thing, so I get no callers: Imaginary friends begin to take shape.) So while I'm at Trader Joes, I get special treats for myself and my friends. ACE's pear cider on an overcast Santa Rosa morning is like being barefoot in the sand, but really you're in a studio apartment overlooking an eternally damp street. And Whaler's Rum for 8 bucks is perfect for jumping off into the foggy night. The salads and produce always brighten the day. But never forget the loaf of sliced sourdough and roasted red pepper tomato soup. This is perhaps my favorite Trader Joes. Re: Customer Service Having frequented several Trader Joe's around the country over the past twenty years, I've grown accustomed to the hit & miss customer service - not to mention the ubiquitous (regardless of location it seems) cowardly / passive aggressive behavior of a good deal of their male checkout staff. After frequenting this particular location a handful of times, I can deductively report that the problem is well entrenched here as well, and further that it stems from the management on down as one might expect. This kind of job was never meant to be a career move lasting 5 -10 years or more at the stock boy level for guys over 30, over 40, over 50 and beyond... If you are pissed that others are doing better than yourself in your dead-end TJ's micro-culture - then perhaps it's time to make a move. Henceforth after my visit today - I no longer have tolerance for the social ineptitude that dominates this particular location. read more

Staff is fine, quality and selection of the products is the same as all the other TJs. Why two stars? Because visiting this location is a nightmare! I've gone at several different times of the day and the parking lot is always congested, the interior full of people squeezing around each other to get stuff. You'd think it was the only TJs in California, but there's another one here in Santa Rosa across town that's not nearly so chaotic--and it's in a huge shopping center. Love this place. Just wish there was one in Windsor. They have, in my opinion, the best tzatziki, and it's a great place to go for easy appetizers. Their frozen Indian foods and garlic naan make for simple dinners on those "i do NOT want to cook" nights, and their roasted (or toasted) corn is REALLY delicious. I don't buy produce here, and I don't buy the bread. The shelf life on these items is too short. I DO buy the whole wheat flat bread for the tzatziki, though. It's delicious. So - with that, I offer this tip: When you ARE buying bread (or anything w/ an expiration date), ALWAYS check the exp date because sometimes it's a day away, and reach to the very back when selecting. They have a DELICIOUS Frenched rack of lamb... and their pork tenderloins are quite yum. Also, their carne asada for grilling is KILLER!!!!! WINDSOR NEEDS A TJ'S!!!!! read more

So I exacerbated the pain in my back when I bent over to grab the rye bread. Some bread has to go on the bottom shelf and I'm guessing rye bread is not a top seller so it's a good bet. I got to the checkout and the lines were backed up. It looks like it's evening rush hour shopping at the store. The hurting back made me crankier and less in the mood to hear the clanging of the bell. I guess the bell gets clanged for a good reason. Or least that's what I keep telling myself. So I can't hold that against the store. Then, it comes time to leave. And some effing tractor trailer rig backs in to make a delivery and blocks my departure. That's where I draw the line. The store needs to make some policies about when items can be delivered and when delivery vehicles can block customers. I'd give the trucking company a one-star review too, but there was no name on the tractor or trailer. read more

I like the Santa Rosa Avenue location better. This location has a cramped feel to it. But despite that - it almost has a "homey" feel as well. The Staff is uniformly good - everyone knows their product information and location in the store. Special stands out - Mike and JoJo in the wine department rock - they really know their wine. Mike always takes his time and likes to explain about the wine he is recommending. He has never steered me wrong. The parking situation is funky and the spots are torturous also the entrance/exit onto Cleveland Avenue reminds me dodging cars while driving on Boston Commons. Going in the off hours guarantees hassle free parking. read more

Trader Joe's is a great place for dried fruits, nuts, eggs, Cliff Bars and drinks etc. What I don't like is the meat that is FILLED with water and the pie crust. I just opened a pie crust and after it was frozen to absolute zero someone tossed it out of a plane. At least that is the consistency I found when I opened the package. Pieces, tiny fractured pieces that I could not use. Sure I could have waited until it was soft enough to re-roll but I didn't have time. I thawed it on the counter for 90 minutes and it was crap. Crap! BTW, the whole chicken had almost 1/2 cup of water in it after I opened the package. I thought I might be safe with a whole bird but it has almost as much water in it as does the ground meats. By far the better TJ's in Santa Rosa. They always have the Fat Free Feta, and the Chipolte Chicken Patties and the Sonoma tortillas that I pretty much live on. The store is clean, the lines are quick, and the staff is knowledgeable - I've yet to get frustrated at this location b/c the staff is really ontop of things. Plus the have the microwave butternut squash.. what more could a girl want? read more

Went to this TJs today to shop and pick up my free bag - They were out of bags - for their grand re-opening. I wanted to know why they didn't substitute one of their FOURTEEN other bags that are hanging on the front wall of the store. I was told they gave away a lot of bags already. SO WHAT?! (how about making your customers happy?) The only reason I went to this location was because I was lured in with a postcard for a free bag. Never again. Why doesn't the store manager have the option to give away other bags to make a customer happy? It wasn't like they didn't make a ton of money since their re-opening. Very, very disappointed. If you want to see California's coronavirus-shutdown world, in a nutshell, you go to Trader Joe's on Cleveland Ave. At Trader Joe's, long lines snaking around the outside of the building is now a common sight. But they have taken the social distancing rules way too far!! Leaving customers to stand in lines outside for more than 40 minutes is ridiculous. Letting one customer in at a time is such overkill! Customers are already wearing a mask and many are wearing gloves too, so why the long wait outside and all the distancing inside? Then when customers finally get up to the front of the line (outside) they have to listen to the Trader Joes' entrance rules: "Make sure while in the store you keep at least a 6-foot distance away from anyone, don't cluster anywhere, and then when you check out stand on the x and stay behind the plexiglass. That was just the beginning of the speech. Come on! Who are they trying to protect anyway? And why are the employees not wearing gloves? Why are there so few checkers too? Why are there so many employees standing around and posted outside? What happened to this store. So disappointed! It was a great place to shop. Won't be back there until things change. read more
