I love Trader Joe's. I have on multiple occasions decide where I was going to live based on the proximity to one of their stores. You can't do a complete grocery shopping here but, they have really good prices on lots of interesting stuff from frozen prepared food, to cheese, to whole wheat cous cous. It has some limitations, namely the fresh produce is mediocre at best. The people are always incredibly friendly and often know what's going on if something isn't in stock for some reason. Though, it is true that the things you really like will sometimes be out of stock for extended periods of time why they find new suppliers. The samples of food and coffee are always delicious and a nice perk while you're doing your grocery shopping. Lastly, they are a great place to get lots of cardboard boxes for moving if you ever need them. I just recently moved and they were more than happy to let me take 2 boxes full of other cardboard boxes which saved me probably $50-100. I really hope wherever I end up next has a Trader Joe's and if you haven't been there, go now. read more

Kind of small, similar to the one I used to go to in Long Beach. In fact, the layout looks almost identical, which makes it a little nostalgic. The lines are never too long, parking is free in the structure for around an hour, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, this Trader Joe's has everything that I normally buy from there -- from the fresh organic fruits and vegetables to the ORGANIC TUSCAN KALE (best thing ever, seriously...especially when you combine it with Kirkland balsamic vinaigrette; try it next time). Prices are pretty reasonable and I always enjoy the selection of cheeses, although I do wish they had Humboldt Fog cheese (one of my favorite; had it almost every day in Napa while eating cured meats and baguettes). Their smoked salmon is also pretty good and I enjoy it from time to time with some cheese and crackers. One thing to note: the "extra sweet" strawberries seem to be a hit or miss. Sometimes I can barely tell the difference between those and the "regular ones." I'm not a super taster, but sometimes I feel like the extra $ isn't quite worth it. I'm glad to say that this TJ's is less than half a mile from my apartment, so I will definitely be coming back very often. read more

I absolutely adore trader joes. If you are looking for fresh and healthy ingredients, this is the place for you. I love that most of their foods don't have any other products in them. Most of the foods are 100% natural or organic! You can definitely trust the quality of foods that are sold here. Though they may be more on the pricier side, you are treating your body to better ingredients. Fruits and vegetables are fresh. The cheeses are natural and whole. Tons of natural and organic ingredients. You really can't go wrong with the options here. Don't forget to bring a tote bag with you to pack all your goodies. :) read more

I love this Trader Joe's! The parking lot is connected almost directly to the entrance (though be careful with parking, it's not run by Trader Joe's and can be a little tight and challenging at times). We shop here every weekend and I've always left feeling so happy with their service. Each cashier is so friendly and fun to chat with, even during COVID times, which I know feels unbearable and has all of them doing so much work. 10/10 recommend going out of your way to this trader joe's. read more

Gets my groe's @ the Trader Joe's... Yo! With food prices skyrocketing (9% in the last year, people- This is SERIOUS!), I get MAD satisfaction walkin' into TJ's and walking out with three huge bags of goods for $67 bones! I got everything I needed, plus some stuff I didn't need.. you know, that crap that you see that's NOT on the list, but you're all, 'That's cute' or.. 'Totally have to have that!' Several years ago, I used to shop here out of convenience (I lived nearby). Back then, TJ's was a bit different and didn't carry everything on the list. Fast forward to today, and they've become my 'Go To' for everything grocery! Today, I realized that they carry soy cheese, chocolate chips, and brussel sprouts in steamable bags. It's a chain - what can I say? I only love this store more than the Capitol Hill location because it's much larger and has a much batter parking lot. Otherwise you get just about the same stuff. You know how they feature time-lapse photography on those nature shows? The sun rolling through 24 hours in under 5 seconds, a peach gathering mold over a few days, a dead deer on the side of the road, decaying quickly.... that's what it's like being in this Trader Joe's. It's like watching life die in front of you at a very rapid pace. I've been in a lot of Trader Joe's; they're ALL crowded, they're all a pain in the ass--IT'S LIKE THEY'RE DESIGNED THAT WAY. But I happen to like the Maui-style ribs, the hazelnut-encrusted salmon, the pineapple fruit roll-ups, and the kickass guacamole kit, so I scowl-and-bear it. THIS Trader Joe's is less than the sum of its parts. As mentioned below, the parking lot is a joke, and the people parking in this lot are equally foolish; there's no way you're getting out of there alive. Every SUV-driving, Earth-conscious mother of three seem to convene there at the exact same moment I do, creating a giant traffic jam of whiny, delicate children who are allergic to fun and wheat. Every time I've gotten bread there--inspecting it thoroughly--it gets to my house and goes moldy within 24 hours. The freezer food is all right--good potstickers, veggie and meat--and the wine selection is large. Unfortunately, so are the lines, which are discouraging the moment you get there: not an open line in site, and it stays that way until they close. I like all of the things that people like about Trader Joe's: cheap food that is good for the price and tries to be as healthy as possible. Nothing wrong with that. But a grocery store that's big on savings shouldn't skimp when it comes to the emotional well-being of their customers: you know they have the money...would it KILL them to add more leg room?! read more

If it wasn't for all the college kid retards, I would be over here all the time. The isles are a bit skinny, but it's not a big deal. They're wide enough for people to get by if they're not being retarded. It's fine. No really. It is okay. The produce here is good. It's usually pre-wrapped so that people can grab a package or two of what they need and move on. Their prepared and frozen stuff is of superior quality. If you want something to go from your freezer to your toaster oven or microwave when you don't want a huge cooking production, they are the win. Everyone seems to know about the three buck (two if you're in california, apparently) Chuck. They have other good wine too for a couple bucks more. Perhaps after you get out of college and get a real job, you will discover that sometimes it is worth spending a few dollars on what you drink and eat. Just a thought. This is the second busiest Trader Joe's location in Washington. Whether I'm looking for soy creamer, organic kale, or french roast coffee, I know I can find all my goods at any location. This store is particularly busy and crowded. I recommend not parking in the garage as more often than not, it's a complete clustercuss. From people waiting for a parking spot (with a line of 5 cars behind them) to people trying to back into pedestrians, it's not a great place to be. The store itself has all of the relevant goods, jam packed into a little space. Every time I've been there, I've left before all my shopping was done because I literally could not stand one more person bumping my ass, touching my arm, or getting in my way (or vice versa). It's not a pleasant shopping experience so honestly, I typically drive the extra distance to Ballard. read more

Hmm, totally thought I'd already reviewed this TJs once upon a time. It's a little smaller than the Ballard store, but I can deal. What prompted me to write a review today was the glorious return of my beloved TJs Roasted Chicken Patties. I thought they were discontinued for good, but apparently they were just taking a break for a year or two. Hooray! That is probably my biggest gripe about TJ's: if you fall in love with something they may just stop carrying it or only have it sporadically. That being said, I am assuming ti keeps prices down and keeps them more "green" by not carrying items that are totally out of season or become too difficult to produce/procure. My other complaint is that the produce selection is not only extremely limited, but often packaged in bizarre ways. So don't come here if you only want one tomato since they force you to buy three. Go to Safeway, QFC, or WF if you need a real deli or produce department. BUT if you need anything quick, convenient, tasty, frozen, jarred, and/or pre-packaged, come to TJs!!! Things I love: sliced sourdough bread, whole wheat Mediterranean flatbread, super cheap bananas, organic broccoli slaw, hummus, tzatziki sauce, seaweed snacks, wasabi peas, all sorts of cookies and crackers and pretzels (including the deadly ones filled with peanut butter and covered in chocolate, dear god), dried apples, sun-dried tomatoes, honey & sesame seed covered almonds, pre-made Indian dinners, chocolate covered espresso beans and many more chocolate goodies, frozen and seasoned turkey and chicken patties, sushi pre-packs. I also come here for more generic things like milk, creamer, spaghetti, gnocchi, and rice. Best thing is, it's all REALLY CHEAP and most of it is preservative free!!! And the staff is usually helpful and friendly and will help you track something down if you have a question. I also love the Fearless Flyer that TJs puts out, which is funny and alerts you to new stuff and good deals. I'm a big, big TJs fan. read more

I visited trader joe's about a month ago one of the male cashiers told a very inappropriate "joke" that wasn't appropriate for a public grocery store. I was very offended it was crude and rude. And what's worse is that the other employees in the customer service in the area laughed at the very inappropriateness. Furthermore today I visited and the lady cashier who rang me up was very syrupy and insincere. Now I would very willingly drive out of my way to drive to either the capital hill , shoreline, federal way locations. However this was the closest location. Service was rude, unapologetic, and just not friendly at all! I came during "restocking" time apparently, and I almost got hit TWICE with those big carts with boxes stacked high on them. I'm pretty reasonable and all they had to mumble was a sorry or "my bad" but nothing! I was hardly acknowledged at all. I saw a lady looking at the TJ reusable bags (which is hung by the warehouse swinging doors) and I saw the door swing open and hit her and her cart. The guy looked annoyed that she was there. Like seriously? Either don't put items for sale near the door or LOOK before you swing the door open... I've been to far better TJ locations to give this place any more than 2 stars. read more

I got last minute flowers for my wedding here and they were spectacular! I saved so much money by getting them from Trader Joe's instead of Metropolitan Market and Whole Foods! They get them fresh every morning, so stop by early morning to get them! The flower buyer, Brittany, is so sweet, and she helped me set aside the morning shipment of blue hydrangeas and opened a few of the irises so they were bright and blooming for the day of! Brittany did such a great job in working with my color scheme from what they had in stock. I wish I had known to stop here earlier to place my whole order with them! I would recommend any bride to stop here and talk with her (in advance) so she can place a special shipment for you. Then you can get exactly the flowers you want! And you cannot beat the TJ's price for flowers! read more

While Trader Joe's doesn't have a huge selection, you can get all of your necessities (and some not-so-necessary things) at a great price. The prices here are a relief from the more expensive grocery stores like QFC and Whole Foods, but the quality is just as good. This location is the one I usually frequent, but it is almost always very busy. The interior of the store is pretty small (esp. compared to the Queen Anne store) so even when there's not a horde of customers, it can still feel somewhat packed. Even though its busy, TJ's compensates by keeping open most of their checkout lines during the busiest periods. I really appreciate that. I hate going into a busy grocery store and seeing 2 checkout lines open. You always end up getting stuck behind the person with two cartloads of groceries, right? Anyways, parking here is a little trickier, because the only free parking is inside the adjacent garage. The garage itself has a funky layout, but its not too bad. This location of TJ's is probably the least fun to go to due to the cramped parking lot and claustrophobic layout. With the amount of traffic this store sees it is a nightmare to shop and I feel like I'm putting on my Black Friday at the mall armor just to get some groceries. Can you tell I'm a bit bitter? Beyond all that, I will "suit up" to grab my favorite items like their house brand moisturizing lotion (which is AMAZING), hummus, and my newest addiction: cookie butter. read more

This place is amazing. Low cost, high quality food, kosher meat (if you need it), organic choices for most foods, really low cost spices and such, and some specialty items that will knock your socks off. This location is well stocked, easily navigated (well as easily as a TJ's can be) and the staff is always friendly and available. I almost took away a star just because they often start a product, I become utterly addicted and then pull it from the shelves, leaving me crying in the aisle. But it seems unfair to blame them for such delicious food making me sad that others didn't want to buy it, eh? read more

We all have our Trader Joe's secrets, and here's mine, fellow Yelpers. Pizza dough. It's 1.29 I think. You can do so much with it! Heat up a pizza stone to 450 (the key is baking the stone for 30 minutes to get it nice and hot) make the pizza directly on the stone, cook for 10 minutes, enjoy. Get a pie tin and make a chicago style pizza, with the sauce on top and the toppings in the middle. Use half and use the other half tomorrow, if you're rockin' it solo. Get a bunch of dough if you are having a party. Yeah, you could make your own dough, but why would you? You're already out shopping for toppings. read more

I like TJ's for it's inexpensive and tasty food selection. This location as a whole is hit or miss. Situated in the U District, it is often super overrun with its student clientele. What this can mean for you is ransacked shelves (I think it must be too difficult to keep everything well stocked) and really really long checkout lines. read more

I am a HUGE HUGE FAN of TJs!! :) I absolutely love all the fun new international products, great prices, and great snack selection. And who doesn't love the TJd flyer with fun descriptions of all the new seasonal products? :) This would be 5 stars if I were reviewing TJs as a whole, but for this U-district location I'm giving it a 3.5 because it is one of the tiniest TJs I've been to, it's just trafficy surrounding the store, and the parking lot is very small and tight. That's the biggest downside. Other than that the cashiers are generally pretty friendly and laid back, though I've definitely been to TJs with slightly more friendly cashiers overall. So uf you have the choice, probably other TJs are better as far as size and parking (read Ballard), but overall really awesome products as always!!! read more

I literally come to trader joes once a week. It's the best option for broke college students that want a healthier option that hate Safeway & qfc is pricey & a bit far. I love the cheap dinner options, I somehow always manage to spend less than 20 bucks a week at this place, but still feel totally satisfied of my purchases. You can't beat the 30 cent water bottles, the dark chocolate peanut butter cups & the great selection of fresh pasta under 5 bucks. My only complaint is that the majority of the staff look like they hate being there & tend to have a smug face. But there's always at least one good seed to help you out there. read more

Ok, it's a national chain, but it ain't no Safeway and it'sone of the few places I buy wine. All the unique brands I only see here are worth playing bumper carts in the overcrowded aisles. Their pizza dough is the best pre-made I've ever found, and a quick tip not found on the package: it freezes well. Also the best place to get orchid plants that are reasonably priced and don't die in a week. Great prices, unique brands, lots of organics, high quality and cashiers and staff who actually look you in the eye when they talk to you, are friendly and know their wines keep me coming back regularly. read more

Great staff, a tall girl with long black hair checked me out today and made good jokes and gave me great suggestions on what I should try. PROS: Prices are fantastic for foodies on a budget. The staff is always courteous and friendly. Well stocked (most of the time). Convenient location. Excellent products. CONS: Always super crowded. Why do people always tend to hover like deer in headlights right in front of the very section where you intend to pick up your next item? Do you really need 5 minutes to linger over cheeses or the available sausage selections? Also, why do people hover over the samples waiting greedily like starving vultures when the samples aren't even ready? Give these serving people a break already. I suspect these people have already had two or three servings of the samples already. Yeah, I see you. You're not fooling anyone, even if you do look like a surfer dude or Betty White. I'm on to you! Parking on weekends - ugh. Plan to wait quite a while. I wish more people would bike, walk and take the bus. LOOOOONG check-out lines. Until a few months ago, I wasn't lucky enough to live in a state with Trader Joe's. I am very happy to have access to one now! I didn't have a problem with the location, but it's a little bit hard to find because you can't see it from 45th. I didn't have parking lot issues because i just parked on the street-- there were plenty of spots available, all free after 6 pm. The store was a little bit crowded, but no more than the usual day at the University Village QFC. Everything I bought at TJ's was great-- I didn't have any problems with the freshness of the produce at all, and bought a very inexpensive bag of some of the juiciest lemons I've ever bought.. Their organic milk is both delicious and cheap. The "convenience foods" are tasty as well; I am a fan of the quattro formaggio flatbread. Wine, beer, tasty produce and a non-crappy frozen selection? I love Trader Joe's quite a lot, which is why this review is rather hard for me to write. This TJ location is so hugely popular that it makes navigating the store and the parking lot next to impossible. My trip was quite awful and frustrating. The parking lot is small and cramped and one car waiting for someone to back out causes the entire garage to be backed up for ages. It's poorly lit...so poorly in fact, that if one were walking through it alone (regardless of the time of day), they might fear a bit for their well-being. The parking sitch upstairs level isn't much better, as people fight to find an open space...just in a better lit area. The store itself is atrocious. I don't know if it's the diagonal aisles or simply their proximity to the check stands and each other, but it spells out pure disaster. As Stephanie P stated in her review, the people are quite literally a crazed mob. Pushing, cutting people off, and blocking up the aisles in every direction, making it near impossible to find that one damn item you're looking for. It gets to the point where you MUST know EXACTLY what you're buying and EXACTLY where it's located, because there's no way you'll be able to browse or search for new foods. They also don't really have their featured flyer items well-stocked. I was on the hunt for palak paneer, as was listed in their mailing flyer, but of course...the small area where they were located was completely empty. You'd think they'd anticipate demand on featured items, but apparently not. We also stood in line for a very unnecessary amount of time, while our checker asked every single employee in the place what the price of some stupid plums were that the girl in front of us was buying. NO ONE KNEW THE PRICE. Talk about ridiculous. I love Trader Joe's immensely, and in any other case it would receive 5 stars (like the Lynnwood location) but this location is just not my favorite. Lynnwood is faaar more laid back than this, so I definitely recommend it. Next time I'll try the Queen Anne location. read more

My cheese comes from cows waaaay over in New Zealand--at least I hope it's from cows. The organic cheddar here is pretty decently priced. awesome.
