This is my local supermarket. Everyone here seems to be extremely knowledgable about the products. For a supermarket that isn't that big it definitely punches above its weight. It's well stocked with a good variety, especially in the meat department. Special shout outs go to the deli counter, the cashiers, and the stock persons. Everyone I've interacted with has been extremely polite and helpful. It's also helpful that it's literally the first real supermarket that you see when you're driving down Hylan Boulevard. read more

This is not my store , I had a doctors appointment & I saw it . I had some time on hands so I went to get some stuff. Prices are reasonable, stuff was very nice . It's not that big of store but has lots of variety. And well organized, clean . I will probably come back when I revisit my doctor. read more

Check your receipts... they tend to trick people and charge more than the listed price. This happened way too many times where I notice they overcharged me and I had to go back to let them know. Sometimes when they say things are on sale, read the fine print of what specifically is on sale. Even so, there's been times when they ring things up and it's still not its listed "sale" price. So just do yourself a favor and pay attention to the prices when they ring items up at the cashier. I think they do this on purpose and try to get away with the overcharging. read more

I order from here for delivery. I wanted to give a shout out to the staff that take, and shop, the orders. Wendy is particularly helpful. I'm disabled, and she always goes out of her way to be especially considerate. She will let me know if they are out of something I need, so I can substitute, and also packages things so they are easier for me to unpack. Very nice employees!!! read more

It's time for a updated review I guess my simple one prior wasn't that detailed enough. Ok so the parking lot Sucks it's a accident waiting to happen when looking for a spot to enter an esp when Leaving. So upon walking in there's fresh fruits & veggies displayed outside before heading up the ramp to enter the market. Usually good deals on fruits etc Walking in you hit the produce section which is always clean an fresh as well. I never have a issue finding what I need an the employees are always stocking an making sure everything is in tip top shape. Isles are a bit tiny to move up an down with a cart ESP when there's employees stocking shelves an doing what they do. Or when another customer is trying to pass you. I would say a bit cluttered Meat department is fresh an clean I can't complain much besides the prices being a tad bit over than your average market. Guess you have to give some consideration to this place being located directly on hylan blvd. so that should explain the reason why the price is a bit more than average. Seafood department is order an pay right after. Not to much of again selection but over all it's decent an it's fresh. Deli department are tons of employees back there working hard. The displayed buffet to order is always nice an pretty the food never looking dry an old. Boars head cold cuts -UGH YES PLEASE Tile to check out now lines are ok they move pretty steadily the cashiers are always sweet. I'm 8 months pregnant and can barley breath let alone have a mask on. I've been to multiple stores to shop and explained the situation and have always been let in. I come here and the guy is literally yelling at me telling me I can't enter the store without a mask on. I waddled over here from my house and now I have to waddle back without my water I wanted to buy. This man takes his job way too seriously, you are not the police. This is my daily stop on my way home usually for Italian bread and the basic necessities . This supermarket is always busy, always clean and staff is attentive and helpful. The only drawback is the parking lot and that's why I gave it a 4 star rating. Otherwise excellent! read more

I visit the Met often. It is kept very clean, fully stocked, plus the fruits and veggies are always fresh on a daily basis. If I can't find an item, both the management and employees are courteous and very helpful. The butchers in the meat area are very accommodating with whatever cut or type of meat I need. As Met Foods vary by area, this is the good one. I have to admit tho, I don't go here for general groceries, but for fresh products mostly... The best things here are the seafood by Fisherman's Cove and bread from Brooklyn company who's name escapes me right now. Both delivered fresh daily and both as good as you can get. (Wild salmon is to die for!) Produce is decent, and deli has great selection as well. The only department that needs improvement is meat, hence one star down. read more

This market is smaller than others on Staten Island, but living in Manhattan I am used to the aisle size. Prices are reasonable though dairy items are slightly more expensive here than in larger supermarkets around the borough. The deli offers a decent selection meats, cheeses, olives, and other antipasti. A separate fish counter sells fresh fish, shrimp, scallops, and lobster. These items must be paid for at this counter and not the regular checkout lines. Fresh fruit and vegetable prices are cheap - even when not on sale. The snack section is severely lacking. Look elsewhere for junk food. I've only been here a few times, but the checkout people have been friendly. read more

Convenient location to stop and pick up a few things. 2 separate occasions I bought ground beef there and it smelled rotten when I opened it at home. I guess I should have realized that would be the case since near the meat freezers there is a rotten smell in general. Not worth the convenience if you either have to go back for a refund or end up with food you can't eat. read more

I live relatively close by but I only stop by when they have a sale. Everything is usually overpriced and can be found cheap at Stop n Shop and ShopRite. The cashiers are there and present but that's about it. The store is usually clean and fully stocked, most of the times. The aisles are crowded and usually boxes of products littered throughout the aisle. read more

New to having groceries delivered during covid nightmare, but met foods hylan boulevard has no website, nowhere to check what items they actually have and prices, only thing I do know it's that they do offer delivery. I know it's a franchise but cmon, You can make a website pretty easily that can reflect the items and prices available. Loved the store when I was able to go in and not be afraid of getting me or my family sick. But buying blind is unsettling and is forcing me to shop at shoprite online. Great store if you can go in, horrible online presence. read more

this is where i get my Iron Chef on. it has the basics... but not essentials. lots of Italian and Jewish products. has a small dinky section for the "International Foods" and Mexican food. lame. the aisles are small and annoying to shop through with people bumping into you constantly. their produce is OOookay, but not pleasing. the lettuce is always soggy and faded colors- their milk/cheese section never seems to change expiration dates, and the meats are ick. i only go there for canned soup, milk, eggs, fresh mozzarella, bread, and cold cuts. everything else is not worth the money. i'd rather take the bus to Pathmark or Shoprite a few blocks down. read more

All of the meat that they sell has a "lemony cleaner" taste to it. The refrigerated area where they keep the meat is cleaned with heavy duty cleaners and the meat absorbs the smell. Otherwise, many of their products are over priced. I like the fresh fish store (separate owners) that's inside. This place is pretty much just ok for a quick milk or bread run. Speaking of milk, they are horribly overpriced on the organic milk! $5.29 for 1/2 gal. read more

You know, when I lived in the East Village, I never liked the Met near my house, and now that I'm in Staten Island I still don't like the Met near my house. It's always overpriced. In the village, I just didn't go in after a while (their abbreviated hours made that easy). Now, I get the circular, so every so often an advertised sale tempts me in. However, Without Fail, they do not have the advertised sale item in stock, and if you ask about it, they try to upsell you to some other, more expensive item. It's annoying. They also have a ridiculously small selection. Yesterday, I went in there because I wanted some limes. They had none. That's right, a "supermarket" with no limes. I ended up getting some peaches, but they weren't very tasty. One star added, just for being closer than ShopRite. But actually, the little bodega across the street is more likely to have a good deal on what you're looking for. read more

The cashiers in this store are unfriendly, they are always texting when you come to their lane they put the phone down a fly through the process, they don't make eye contact and they make you feel like your disturbing them. The store can feel a little cramped. They do have a pretty good selection, but some prices are a little higher than your regular supermarket. Aisles and parking lot are narrow and small. All workers are friendly. My main reason for shopping here is the fish department. Everything is fresh & nicely cut. What I like about the fish department is you can pay there, without waiting on the regular checkout line. read more

Met food is excellent.The produce is fresh and the workers are always willing to answer any questions you have.They have some organic and gluten free peoducts if you need that.The meat department is great and they can cut any type of meat you want.Great sales.The Deli department is spotless as is the whole store.Good fish dept. When the COVID lockdown started, MET Foods was the only grocery store I could get through to to place an order. They were courteous and helpful, from taking my order to delivery. Since then I have shopped there and it's always a pleasant experience. The staff is always welcoming and helpful. While all the bigger grocery stores were overcrowded and shelves empty, MET Foods shelves were well stocked and the shoppers were let in a manner that allowed all to be socially distant. I was just in the store this weekend and I am still impressed with the store and it's staff. It's a big grocery store with the heart and feel of a small mom and pop neighborhood store. Clean, well stocked and staffed. It is always a pleasant experience, from the gentleman manning the line outside to the staff stocking the shelves and working the deli counter to the cashiers. Kudos to the management who foster such a positive vibe in the store. I highly recommend MET Foods and want to recognize them for their superior service. read more

Terrible. The deli is disgusting and dirty. The managers treat the staff horribly especially the stock boys. Yelling at your staff isn't the way to ensure they do a good job and definitely not a good way to give the "family owned supermarket" impression. This is the only supermarket in the Grasmere area. Therefore, it is convenient. Small in size and a bit cramped. Service is very good, and it meets by basic grocery needs. Also they have an excellent order by phone with delivery for those customers who live in the area. Worth a try. read more

Love this store and the fact they carry vegan products. We love the beyond meat burgers and come in there often for them. Wanted to ask if you carry any other vegan products as well. This is the place to go for expensive meats and "luxury" groceries that you won't find at Waulbaums or Pathmark. Anything not on sale is overpriced and the parking lot is crazy small for Staten Island. read more

You can go after work, quickly pick your groceries and be out in under 20 minutes! Yes, it is small, but that is why you can get in and out quickly. Yes, it's prices are higher than bigger stores, but they are offering wide selection with convenience, they cannot offer economies of scale. Provide a little bit of everything. Good sales. Look for the flyer online and in the store. No store coupons or cards needed. If item is on sale you get the sale price. No need to buy extra. If item is 2 for x $, they sell it 1 for half the twofer price. Busy deli department means fresh food. Fresh seafood department. Great for single and couples. Offer home delivery. Also provide service to call in and have your groceries selected and delivered which is fabulous for seniors, the disabled and in bad weather! Yes, the cashiers could use customer service training and not have their cell phones at the register, but this is now a common problem in retail, not just Met Food. Managers vary in customer service attitude. Some are great, others not so much. read more

I was hoping to find the email address for your corporate office, because I need to compliment Nick, I believe he is one of the Manager's at this store, (he should be if he isn't) Please let me know if there is more than one Nick so I can get a last name for you. I have been there @ all different times of the day & always found him hard at work but unlike rude employees you encounter elsewhere, he stops what he is doing to help me (I've also observed him doing for other customers.) I have a very poor appetite and like very little food so it's important for me to be able to get the food I like, There is one product I had trouble finding, I wrote & called one supermarket corporate office, I had gone to about 10 stores (at least 1 in each chain), asking customer service & managers to get me the product and each one promised and failed unitil I found Nick at this store. I will never forget his outstanding service and think every corporation should strive to have employees like him. It might take me time to spread the word but I will tell anyone that will listen that you have the best service in staten island.
