I honestly really like this location, especially during the morning when most of store is fully stocked up. The only minor issues I have with this place is that sometimes the cashiers are inconsistent and may be running late, resulting in only one register opened. Sometimes if you go during late afternoon and evening hours, some of the stuff are not restocked. So highly recommend coming here early in the morning for the best experience. I placed and online order for delivery on 3/28/26. When we received our order, we noticed some items were missing. We called stop and shop at 1441 Richmond Ave and a person by the name of Edgar first stated they had no more drivers. He then gave us a number to call that went to customer care. He should have realized that they were closed. We called back and asked to speak to a manger or supervisor and was told they did not were either one was? Prices consistently ring as more expensive than they are advertised on the shelves. When I've pointed it out, there is always an excuse like "the sale doesn't actually start until later this week" or "the sign is misleading". It's happened often enough that it's starting to feel intentional, like the owners are hoping customers won't catch the errors before paying. Legitimately the worst place on the island to get basic groceries. Everything is rotten/expired/moldy by the time you get it home. The deli counter is slower than molasses. The longest I've ever waited for cold cuts by far, because the awful staff of mongoloids behind the counter takes forever. read more

This Stop & Shop located in the Expressway Plaza is an excellent supermarket that always has food stocked and friendly(ish) staff. However, I do have to give a heads up to everyone that the staff at the self-checkout line might unintentionally make you feel uncomfortable as you scan items. Tonight as I was finishing shopping and scanning items, I had the lone attendant stand basically on top of me. It was closer than six feet and they didn't have a mask on, and asking them to step back was met with an awkward silence. I love this supermarket and the people working there ARE friendly. But at a certain point, you do catch on to some of the more unscrupulous tactics this store employs to catch thief's. It's unfortunately not the first time I've had an employee not realize they are too close to a customer. Yes, I understand people steal, but there are better ways to deter people rather than standing so close to them you actually feel a bit uncomfortable. Not the employees faults I'm sure. This shop is great, and the only real complaint I have is that staff accidentally think you are stealing too often. Once a few months ago, an employee DID ask me to stop from leaving the store and scan an item because he swore he caught me not scan it. I had to show him my receipt to prove that, actually I did scan it. It was embarrassing to be accused of stealing a precious "protein bar" in front of everyone! Overall, excellent spot. Just lighten up on the whole "staring into the souls of your customers" aspect as they scan their items. read more

This store is ridiculous. At the register you are charged different prices than advertised. The register associates at self checkout are not helpful. The self check is utterly more trouble than a bunch of bees in your pants. Their mobil app is terrible. It is difficult to find digital downloads that are advertised and you don't get the discounts when downloaded. One associate in the store said it takes a few hours for it to update. This is ridiculous since shop rite updates immediately. read more

This will be the second time I write a review for stop and shop...I have no idea where my recent review went.. So I shop here pretty frequently... About once a week... I come here for there weekly sales or just because I have the munchies... The service is ok...the store is always clean...the people here are some what friendly...will in the afternoon...came here once in the making and the cashier looked fed up and mean... The quality of the meat is nice... They have all the snacks I want... The bakery section is oddly expensive for some weird reason... Like a plate of Brownies for ten dollars... Who the hell wants to buy that... The cakes or ok...bought two birthday cake here once... The chocolate cake can be overwhelming...when I usually come here I usually go to the self check out lines... I also witnessed how this Olga she/man with a booming voice berated an old Italian lady who spoke very little English while her daughter ran back to get another item. The old lady who had her own credit card couldn't stop her trembling hand from inserting the card to the slot for the chip to be read. Standing behind the old lady I guided her hand, though unsolicited, to make a payment as she was already in the verge of panic. Her daughter, who was in her 30s, followed on our way out. She apparently used the self check out to catch up with her mother. Outside, I informed the young lady how bad her mother was treated and unfortunately I cannot fight her battle for her. I told her I am willing to be a witness on how Olga displayed her gestapo- like behavior. This incident happened two years ago and seeing Olga still holding court day in day just sickens me. By the way, there were a few more similar incidents after this one with the sweet old lady. Yes, I am a frequent shopper and the only redeeming quality I see from Olga is her ability to flirt with men who have all the time in the world to compliment her. I'll describe to you her type, tall rugged, middle aged or just about, and dark. I guess Juan belongs to this favored group. And if you will say thank you for bringing this to your attention, you can save your breath. I expect you already received complaints about Olga or must have sent her to one of those finishing schools like Vassar or terminated her services. Instead, she is still in full swing. Just a simple advice before your beloved store turns into another Walbaums, Pathmark or Key Food. Get you act together. read more

I've been coming to this location for the longest time and I have never had any issues before until today. I purchased Pepperidge Farm burger buns and upon unpacking them when I got home, I noticed there were little bite marks in a couple of the buns and then noticed the bite marks in the plastic. I bought it to the attention of the manager and was told they will get an exterminator. That's great and all, but what makes it okay to sell rodent infested buns to your consumers? I'm 8 months pregnant. What if I ate that without noticing a rodent chowed down on the buns? Rodents carry diseases. Really disappointed. read more

I enjoy shopping in stop and shop in general but I have to say this location isn't my true love but it's alright. Freshness has never really been an issue here. I feel that their produce section and deli are definitely better than the older store closer to the mall. Since this location is less popular than its sister down the block I find that the shelves are often neat and orderly but one thing that's lacking is store cleanliness. The front vestibule area is gross. Sticky, hot, and bug filled. Trash cans around the store are often overflowing and the bathrooms, well, just stay out and you'll be ok. Trust me. These chain grocery stores pretty much stock all the same stuff it's just some stores have better manned departments than other locations. My suggestion is that you try the location closer to the mall first. read more

It's a super market that's brand new to the area, used to be path-mark which is not much of a difference besides its name. You walk into a ratchet mess full of Hawks trying to sell you something. From the liquor store junkies in front of it, to the beauty supply store fools saying nice hair, to subway arguments about a foot long. Lol I kid you not, I seriously can't make this up. I always come to this stop and shop and I will continue to. I just want to comment on one thing. I bought salad dressing and when i got home I noticed it expired in MARCH (it's now October)!! I returned it to the indifferent woman at customer service who looked frazzled w no customers at 9am. I returned, said it was expired, she said ok and gave back my money. Very simple. I went there today and used my cell phone for the mobile scan. The cashier Catherine was so damn rude and pulled me off line and scanned my items since we were at self check out and it was busy . - she starts saying that something didn't ring up . Meanwhile I ALWAYS double check my groceries BEFORE I bag them and check out just for this EXACT reason . And also if you do get audited - it won't let u finish the purchase until a cashier scans 7 items to make sure u paid for them all. None of that happened yet she was LOOKING for something to find that wasn't scanned ! I'm calling corporate tomorrow to make sure I complain about this lady ! Unbelievable stop and shop ! This is my go to supermarket. I live about 10 mins away. Its a super big supermarket with plenty of organic options. They also have a decent gluten free, vegan and organic section. There have been a few time that I have purchased rank ass meat that definitely went bad however veggies are usually fresh. I have been coming here twice a week for close to two years with minimal problems. Customer service desk is always helpful. read more

I shop here quite often and it's always my supermarket of choice. I really enjoy their produce. I also feel like they have the best cold cuts and they stay fresh longer. It must be because they have good turn around. I also enjoy their organic isle as I feel it has a nice variety. I must say do not go there on a Monday. Only once have I went on a Monday "once" There was barely any fresh produce or anything on the shelves. I have never seen anything like it. When I asked them what went on they said the weekends get very busy and they don't get their shipments until Tuesday. I'd prefer to go during the week because I can't stand weekend crowds. I like to go in the night during the week. I can think and take my time and not have to move my cart a million times so people can get by. I shop here much more often then I would like. However it's the only grocery nearish to me. There is rarely any carts inside and if there is they are locked or broken. The workers here are, look, act truly miserable. The lines are very long. Sale items are never ever labeled so often you end up paying more then is stated. The cold cuts are dry, tasteless and more expensive then anywhere else I've found. You will spend so long in that cold cut line it's laughable. No chain grocery on the island is any better except the brand new shoprite by the outerbridge. This is so sad. This forces me to go to 3 to 4 different stores for my groceries. Traders for meat, eggs and veggies. Top Tomato for cold cuts. Stop n shop for canned goods. Costco for boxed and paper goods. read more

The store manager has very bad attitude and provides very bad customer service! I purchased meat and other groceries at around 10 pm. The register did not apply my member card and the entire purchase did not discount. I was still in the store and went back to the register to redo my purchase with the member card but the store manager told they couldn't do it. All registers were still serving. I ask if I could return my purchase. She did not let the register to do my return instead telling me to come back on tomorrow morning. What kinds of service now a day! This happened to me again...they are selling expired food. I shop here a lot (a lot meaning a couple of times a week) and once a year I bump into expired products... Last year it was granola (I was pregnant and all of a sudden in the morning I started having diarrhea. I thought it was just another pregnancy discomfort, when by mistake I noticed on the box that the granola I purchased here was expired). Yesterday (April 9, 2014) I purchased chocolate covered pretzels that expired in November, 2013!!!!!!! So nobody bothered to check this product in several months. Most pleasant person in the store and the reason I shop there. Today an ass wipe customer was being a real butthole and giving her a hard time. Sorry, but the customer is NOT always right. I've been coming to this location since it was a King Kullen and a Waldbaums before it. The parking lot is spacious. Inside the Stop & Shop it's clean and well-kept. I've never had an issue with the staff. I don't think it's the most inexpensive of the chain supermarkets, but I like how it's run. read more

I used to come to this location all the time because it was the emptiest one. The other day I had an issue with a older lady at the register her name was Olga. She was disgusting rude to my father( who is old and has trouble hearing and a bit slow) we were waiting on the register way behind the 6ft line and she was yelling at him to back up. He was over 6ft back mor like 8ft and passed the tape. She continued to yell at him untill I stepped in and told her to watch her mouth! My dad was upset because he didnt understand what he was doing wrong. He told her that he was 6ft and could lay down and still have more room to where he was standing. She proceeded to tell him whatever I dont care, good for you in a condescending tone. The cashier next to her ask me to step to her line and she helped me out. Who ended up being the sweetest person. She helped me and my father, was very kind and also made my father feel better. Who ever Olga is needs an attitude check. Especially when there's a pandemic going on. This store has gone down hill. Especially the cold cut dept. They are always in a bad mood, angry and it seems like you are bothering them with your order. They ignore you because they are too busy gripping. They talk about other employees behind their back and how do they know the person they are waiting on doesn't know the people they are talking about(all within ear shot). Their job is to give service with a smile and not be soap opera. If they are that miserable then they need to find another job. I've been going to this grocery store since it was Waldbaum's and King Kullen. And although the store itself hasn't changed too much with the various ownerships, I like this Stop & Shop best. It's far less crowded than the other Stop & Shops on the island with significantly more parking. I do find it difficult to find certain items though and the flow of the aisles doesn't always make sense. I like that you can place your deli order at a kiosk, continue shopping, and then be called overhead to pick up your deli order. That deli line gets crazy sometimes, so the kiosk is a nice way to avoid standing around on line while you could be knocking out the rest of your shopping list. If you have a savings card, you can get some nice deals. I still prefer Wegman's in NJ or Trader Joe's up the block, but Stop & Shop is great for those items that these stores don't carry, for their deli, and it doesn't require crossing a bridge to get here so it works for me. I also like the meat department here better than at Trader Joes. read more
