I really wish that they had one of these at home. I was in the big Deep Creek visiting with friends and pow! we come across this place. It is really awesome and homey inside. Nice space, lounge area with comfy couches, chairs and a fireplace for just chillaxing. They have a pretty awesome coffee selection, so much that it can be considered a bit overwhelming...lol The coffee was ahmazing! I had a pumpkin spice latte, which was just divine. I also tasted the chai latte which was great too. I noticed that they also had specials and served breakfast too. The staff were awesome, and friendly. Great locally roasted coffee and impeccable breakfast food. They definitely make their pastries in house and they are a must try. I had the breakfast muffin (a carrot cake and bran mix topped with granola) and it was one of the best I have ever had. The donut and choc chip muffins were also raved about by the kids. I would definitely return again to try more of the breakfast and lunch items, we just wanted to get in and out quick to go to the mountain. I always find myself stopping here on my trips to Virginia, great customer service, good food and drinks. My favorite drink so far has been a mocha frap, delish. Their scones are good as well. Trader's is a special place to anyone spending time in Garrett County (and it does strike me like it's more of a tourist/visitor crowd than people who live in Garrett County year round, but I could be wrong). Their specialty is rooty tooty sugary coffee and espresso drinks, with tea and cider thrown in there, and they always seem to have a very creative selection available. If you like this kind of drink, they have something for you. If you like more traditional espresso beverages, they have those too! My only grumble is sometimes the drinks are way too scalding hot, but some people like that. They also offer some appealing nosh options but I've never eaten there. There's a decent sitting space including a little nook in the back for a small group. Parking is available in the front and out back and is free, just like the wifi. We come up to Garrett County to visit my wife's family from time to time and any visit includes a trip to Trader's. It has zero competition and, frankly, it would still warrant a visit if it did. read more

We were fiending for coffee on cold day up here at Deep Creek and we were on the hunt for a place fro brunch. Unfortunately we were REALLY hungry and this was close. Although this is not a restaurant, they still had great breakfast food. I went for the Breakfast Wrap and Spring Sunrise Coffee Drink. It was perfect. Less than $10 will get you pretty big wrap and a drink and it definitely hit the spot. This is in kind of an old strip of stores. It's a very cozy coffee shop, they even have a fire place. Omgosh!! I so love this place. We stopped here for coffee and tea on the way home from camping. I wish I lived near here. I swear I'd come every single day, trying a new flavor of anything!! The staff are amazing... they were so sweet and patient with us, being that we were newcomers. We had breakfast before we left our cabin, so I only ordered a Chider (chai tea made with apple cider.) It was absolutely delicious!!!!! I looked for a recipe as soon as I got back home. I need to learn how to make it! The food around us, looked and smelled ah-mazing! I was visiting McHenry for a family reunion and decided to stop at this place for breakfast with my family. I decided to pay the visit based on all the amazing reviews. We arrived at 9 am and there was a long line out the door. Usually it's a good sign and I don't mind waiting a bit for a pleasant experience and good food. After waiting about 15 minutes in the line I finally made it to the counter and placed my order. The lady at the register was not very friendly. I ordered food for 4 people. I then asked for a coffee. She asked what size and I said, whatever your regular is. She rudely said, what size?? I said regular again. She erupted, we do small, medium, large. I said, "Medium then". I was turned off by the way she spoke to me. The food arrived almost 30 minutes later. It was lukewarm at best. The egg/cheese bagel was very chewy. The protein wrap simply wasn't tasty and the Belgian waffle came plain (not the way they described it on their menu with fresh fruits and cream). The line was too long for us to complaint about anything, especially with a young toddler who was starving. The entire experience was way overrated for us. read more

Trader's Coffee House is exactly what was needed in the Deep Creek area. Just about every resort area I've been too has at least a Starbucks (usually more than one!). The only other real breakfast option I've had here is Perkins. This coffee shop is situated under Brenda's Pizza (a solid option for pizza in the area). Parking is a scare resource in front, but options can be found. You're competing with parking for Subway, High Mountain Sports, Brenda's Pizza (later in the day), and another business. Inside Trader's there's a very homey, yet quaint feel. It matches the feeling you get from the area. I really thought the fireplace was a good addition to the shop. It's tucked away in the right corner so it's not in your face and doesn't create any unnecessary traffic. All the coffees seem very well made. I was in the mood for a mocha so I got that. They used real, thick whipped cream (I'm usually not a fan of this) which was a welcome addition. The drink was warm, just sweet enough, and had great flavor. The breakfast wrap (sausage, egg, cheese) I had was really good. They seem to use high quality ingredients as well. My only complaint was it was small. I would liked something bigger, almost like a breakfast burrito. Unfortunately, it was raining hard today so I was unable to ski but I feel like I'd have empty stomach much sooner than I'd like. Next time I think I may do the wrap plus a belgian waffle. I think that may be more sufficient. I would not hesitate coming back to Trader's Coffee House in the future. However, in the morning before skiing, I would maybe consider Perkin's because it's more filling for a day on the hill. read more

I don't know why they put in their cookies and pastries, but it's addictive. The cookies are big and soft with huge chunks of chocolate chips or macadamias. We also got a few chocolate chips with a streak of caramel running through it. I'm sure it violated every rule of proper nutrition, which is why it tasted so good. The caramel apples are crispy and sweet with a light coating of caramel (not the thick plastic kind that peels off with the first bite), just enough to add to the sweetness and stick to the generous chopped peanuts sprinkled around the apple. The only downside is the lack of parking at the tiny shopping center, and Trader's is so good, of course there was a large crowd. But it's worth the crowd and the lack of easy parking! read more

Their breakfast sandwich was tiny and pricey compared to casslemans and their plain coffee was on the stronger side. The outdoor seating was small and loud due to the nearby traffic. Trader's is my go-to spot for coffee and breakfast sandwiches in the Deep Creek/McHenry area. They have great choices and so many yummy sounding breakfast options but it seems like every time I'm there we are headed out of town. (Sure makes for a positive end to a wonderful trip though!) This most recent trip we arrived around 10am and the place was fairly full with no line for a wait. We ordered a caramel latte and large coffee and I like that their coffee is self-service and there was access to three different options. They weren't kidding about the dark roast either - it was dark and delish! My latte was wonderful - just what I needed with a bit of sweetness and creaminess. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with bacon on a croissant while the fella ordered it on bagel with sausage. Both were delicious and perfect for the road. I'd love to come back and try some of the other food options plus their pastry selection looks divine! But my husband and son didn't like that you had to put your own cream cheese on their bagels. My son even said "I go out, so I don't have to make my own food." Which was a very valid point. And it is a bit of a pain when you have to do it in the car versus sitting at a table, which isn't an option due to Covid restrictions. The coffee shop is adorable and right across from the lake. You can sit inside or outside. We got the sunflower and s'mores lattes ( they were delicious!!!!). Rented a townhouse next door from here for a long weekend stay so naturally had to stop by for morning coffee and breakfast. Very quaint homey place which is what you may expect at Deep Creek. The coffeewas very good...you get a cup and pour your own with different roasts to choose from. Also ordered the bagel breakfast sndwich (ham egg & cheese) which was tasty with several slices of ham and nicely melted cheese.
