Beautiful hotel with a great location. Everybody at Tradewinds was awesome. Had a great stay and really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and great service from the staff. We will definitely book here again next time we come to Carmel.

Beautiful hotel, comfortable rooms and lovely experience. Thank you for making our stay so nice.

    Breakfast and our backyard

We went this weekend for an overnight stay. This place is a little gem hidden in Carmel. Highly recommend!!! We were greeted by these 3 lovely staff- Emily, Gia and Amani who assisted us to find our room. They handed us a bag of cookie right at check in . The following day, they dropped us off a basket of delightful healthy delicious breakfast!!! The place is super comfortable . Our backyard is like an oasis with lots of beautiful plants and the sound of fountain . Definitely coming back.

Night time ambiance and fireplace in the room.

We stayed in Room 10 for our birthday getaway weekend with friends. The location was walkable to all shops, restaurants and if you're up for it, the beach. Parking was trickier on the weekend but there is plenty of street parking. The front desk could not have been nicer, and always made sure everything was perfect. The deep tub was so relaxing and we had a tiny peek of the ocean, which we didn't expect. Such a great place to stay, and impeccable service.

We are driving away from our first (and certainly not last) stay here. We came for my 50th birthday and this hotel did not disappoint. Our room was amazing, we had a great view of the ocean. Loved the fireplace in the room, the breakfast delivered to the room was delicious and the staff here is so friendly. Honestly 10/10 would recommend. They treated us like long time friends.

    Breakfast at our door.

Carmel by the Sea is pricey and beautiful.. Tradewinds was mostly worth it. Our room was ready early, with lovely linens, a peekaboo ocean view, some furniture was a bit worn, and the mattress was more of a fluffy tatami than my preferred firm mattress. Front desk and bell hop were accommodating., and the room was quiet with the exception of the tree trimming outside our window. ( not the hotels fault) Breakfast was delivered in a basket with hot coffee, fruit, slightly sulphuurous hard boiled eggs, and granola. We have stayed elsewhere in Carmel by the Sea, and Tradewinds was better than the other location.

Sunset view from my room. When booking I selected "partial view" and I was surprised with this view from every window!

Such a pleasant stay at Tradewinds! This is a dog friendly inn on Mission street, just a few blocks from great shopping and dining. The hotel was quiet and my room had partial (and beautiful!) views of the ocean. The check in service was great and easy, and I loved that breakfast was included. The hotel had lush greenery and a zen vibe. I definitely plan to stay here again.

I booked this hotel for a trip that I was planning for girls trip! Yet my other party cancelled and so I took my dad and daughter! I had never in all my travels stayed in a hotel in Carmel So this was my first time. Booking was easy! I had called prior and asked if possible to obtain rooms close to each other! Which they accommodated! We got there and our rooms were ready the staff was very kind! They revised us with an overview of the hotel and gave us a bag each of cookies. They walked us up to our rooms and carried our luggage for us. Our rooms were beautiful and so nice and comfortable one of the best beds That I have ever slept in! They have a breakfast menu that is limited but looks great! The light the fire pits nightly and they have wonderful landscape! The only down side is 1. Parking is extended limited and therefore there isn't always parking wiring the lots so you have to find street parking. 2. You can hear the people above you walking. But those things are small! I will say with my 72 year old father and no elevator it was hard at times the stairs he has knee issues. So if I travel with him again I more than likely would not stay here but with my daughter and or husband I would!

Booked my stay here a few weeks back in anticipation of my 8th wedding anniversary. The location did not disappoint, great views, beautiful room with jetted tub and fireplace! Tons of parking on site. If you like to budget travel you could probably survive all day off the breakfast basket! I definitely didn't leave it to the breakfast basket, I ate my self into a food coma the last night. I would definitely come back to Tradewinds!

They've designed their hotel to look and feel like a little oasis. The intention was effective because it did feel like an enclosed paradise, quiet and pleasing to the eye. Our service during our drinks and pizza at their cafe and during breakfast time (included in our package) was excellent and staff were really friendly! Complimentary bubbles upon arrival which i love! Dog blankets outside. Good looking bathrooms. Aesthetically pleasing place. Robes and slippers in rooms. Luxurious sheets. My husband didn't love the bed but perhaps he just has a sensitive preference for his back. the rooms were swanky but small but we didn't mind it for 2 nights only. we spent a lot of time enjoying the nice weather outside. One of the more expensive rooms on property, the courtyard 'suite,' is adjacent to the lounge area, so we heard conversation right outside our window until after 10pm. There was no effort to ask the group to move to another spot that would have been less disruptive, despite my ask to the front desk. We were charged $50 extra per child for our family of 2 adults and 2 children for a suite that has two rooms and two king beds. They have 4 charging stations for EV's, however parking is not enforced. There were non EV vehicles parked in those spaces the entirety of brief stay, so unfortunately we were inconvenienced by not being able to charge at a planned stopping point on our road trip. Next time I come to Carmel I'll be researching alternatives.

Opened in 2022, it feels brand new yet already timeless, with design that's both elegant and warm. The rooms? Incredible. Heated bathroom floors (yes, heated floors), a complimentary snack bar and fridge stocked with goodies, a sleek Dyson hairdryer, and even a fancy bidet -- every detail has been thought through. Our patio looked out toward the ocean, and at night you could hear the waves. But the real star of the show is breakfast. The coffee is excellent, the quiches are light and flavorful, and the almond croissants... wow. Hands down the best croissants I've ever had. I would come back just for those. Service was top-notch from start to finish. The staff made us feel so welcome -- kind, attentive, and genuinely happy to help. The experience was also disturbed by how unwilling, and unhelpful the receptionist / front desk woman was when we attempted to check in (she was an older Hispanic, heavy set woman). We explained that we were also dining at their restaurant, Aubergine (on premises) and we were hoping to be let into our room only one hour before check-in (3pm vs. 4pm), so that we could prepare ourselves properly for our 2-Michelin Star meal there at 5pm. Mind you, we also requested this when our reservation was made directly through their website (2 months in advance) + we were some of the only dinner guests at their restaurant that were spending the night. This receptionist was unbelievably rude I had to remind her that I was the guest! Later, they were able to get us in. I didn't understand why she could not be professional given their claim to service and luxury, sadly we experienced neither from her. Literally everyone else, which happened to be male, was extremely kind, attentive and helpful! ***For the price per night, the quality versus luxury ratio was not there for us.*** And with the rude, unprofessional behavior that almost guarantees no return. Hopefully they can get better staff and upgrades underway. It would be a shame to keep "letting it go" as it seems that they are doing now.

We booked one of the double rooms with a fireplace. While the room itself was fine, the walls and ceilings are extremely thin. From around 9pm to 1:00 AM, we could clearly hear footsteps from the room above us, along with conversations. It didn't seem like the guests upstairs were being intentionally disruptive -- it felt more like an issue with how the property is built and the lack of sound insulation. We did call the front desk and asked if they could notify the guests upstairs. After that, they were more mindful of their steps, which we appreciated, but we could still hear them trying to whispering. We chose this property because we were looking for a peaceful place to rest, reset, and enjoy quiet evenings. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. For the amount we paid for a weekend stay, we expected much better soundproofing and overall comfort. Sadly, we won't be returning or recommending this property to our family or friends.
