Room was clean and had all the amenities needed except a microwave (there is a shared one in a common area available until 10 pm) Checked in early (2pm) but our room was not ready yet although they gave us the keys, which I thought was a little odd. Fire pit was out of service during our time there. Could hear the showers/ toilets of other rooms crystal clear when in use. Worst part by FAR is parking. The lines are impossible to see because they match the brick. I'm assuming this is done esthetic purposes, but we could barely park because no one was following the lines. (Probably because they couldn't see them. PLEASE make your parking easier to see because we almost did not have a spot. Charming boutique hotel! All the rooms are wine themed. We stayed in the Tudor room. We stayed here on our visit to Carmel as we passed by to the redwoods. It's tucked away from town but is still walkable (30 minutes) or drivable (3 minutes) from the center. We absolutely enjoyed our stay. It was quiet and serene and all we needed to rejuvenate ourselves. Bottle water is free (2 bottles per night). Room was very clean and housekeeping can be requested during your stay. read more

She made the entire booking process so easy and stress free. When we arrived and met her in person, it felt like seeing an old friend. She was just as kind and welcoming as she had been on the phone. The property itself was peaceful, quiet, and spotless. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy Carmel. We felt truly taken care of and appreciated the extra effort Cyndy put into making our stay memorable. Booked a 2 night stay here back in August. Cute boutique hotel. Dog-friendly with a fee per dog. The front desk is NOT available 24/7 so make sure you check in/out during the times that they are. The lady who checked me in was dismissive & rude. Gave me very little info about the area, let alone the hotel amenities like breakfast! Thankfully never saw her again. The lady who checked me out was super nice & super friendly. She was excited to meet my dog & she gave me tips for next time I want to visit Carmel. I wish I met her the first night. The hotel is a few blocks away from the main Carmel touristy area which I thought was nice, less outside noise. It's a small hotel with few rooms. Each room designed/dedicated by local wineries. The grounds are beautiful, there's a cool outdoor garden area with a fire pit that's nice to chill next to after a long day of being a tourist. Parking. Let me tell you. They have parking spaces. Very few parking spaces. Seems like one parking space per room. Not that you're assigned a space but comparing it number-wise. Parking spaces are narrow & getting to the ones in the very back of the hotel can be a tight squeeze. The lines are hard to see so if there's an inconsiderate guest, it's so easy for them to take up 2 parking spaces with their car. The room itself was clean. Bathroom was nice & updated. Patio was laughable. I was in a downstairs room & you can't tell by the picture because I zoomed out with my phone, but there is NO room to sit back there. The chairs are facing the hotel & its a very narrow area with nothing to look at except the building & a tall wall of greenery. I'm not complaining about it, I just thought it was funny lol. Fridge & coffee maker available in the room. Like the other reviews mention, walls are thin. I can hear people talking outside. I could also hear the people talking & walking around in the room right above mine. Used to it though because I used to live in a downstairs apartment so it honestly didn't bother me. We booked a stay here for one night for the Pebble Beach Concours, didn't need anything fancy and figured it would be good enough when still paying an absurd price for this special week. Wow was I wrong. From check-in to the actual room, everything was majorly disappointing. Not sure where the 5 stars are coming from. First off the place is located off the busy road and it's a blind corner, so be careful getting into and out of the parking lot. Tight spaces. We walk into the lobby and notice several people waiting to check-in early around 1pm. The woman at the front is dismissive to them, and even the hotel customer was being rude back while she was on the phone? So weird, I'm already turned off at this point. Finally it's our turn. My husband tried to be optimistic about the situation so being his cheery self he asked the woman at the front "So is there anything to do around here?" The woman looked at us and blatantly LAUGHED IN OUR FACES. Didn't even said a word, just laughed for like 30 seconds straight...Then a customer JOINED IN?! Then she finally goes "where are you from?" (still laughing all the while) We get it, the Concours is happening but it was our first time in Carmel/at the Concours and we thought maybe she would have a few suggestions of something that we didn't know about? SO RUDE. We literally walked out in disbelief directly after. Then we finally get to the room after being told we can't check in until 3pm, luckily that woman was gone and someone else checked us in. We get to the $450 per night room that's deplorably bad. No A/C, extremely humid because you have to leave the windows open (which you have to close at night because there aren't any screens so bugs can fly right in!!!), bed is terribly uncomfortable. This place is old and they only half-renovated. Towels were also rough and you can hear people walking up and down the stairs above the room. You'd think they would know that people are paying an ultimate premium during concours week to stay at their subpar hotel and step it up a bit, but these people are miserable and don't care about their guests. The WORST customer service i've ever experienced. If you're looking for a quick overnight stop, find a different place in the area that is at least respectful. Not only the people who work there, but the people who stay there are entitled ****, that think everything revolves around them, and their terrible 2 star hotel where one of the largest car shows in the country happens and you're forced to put up with subpar BS. Patrons included! NEVER. AGAIN. I hope management see's this asap. Stay was on 8/16 for reference. P.S. They still advertise themselves as a B&B but no such thing is provided. Just water and bad coffee. P.P.S. Please read the other reviews about mold/mildew, i've been hacking and congested since we left the hotel. Last weekend we stayed here. Hubby said that the reviews were really high, but I just filtered thru them and was surprised to read about bug bites/mold/mildew. Our experience was 3/4 out of 5. Super cute place with little cottage style rooms. Room seemed clean, but yes, when we walked in, there was a powerful smell of cleaner. First night, my husband had a coughing fit, that he said was strange for him. Maybe caused by mold/mildew? Not sure, but it was pretty bad. I'm not one to complain to the front desk or management, but I did mention one thing after the first night. There are pull down shades in the room, but they don't black out. Problem is, the two rooms directly across from ours have solar lights in their front yard that don't go off throughout the night. Strange, right? They light up the entire area brightly therefore, our room was super bright all night long, and no way to make it darker. If you like your room dark, you will hate this. Next morning, we mentioned it to the front desk, and asked if we could turn those lights out and she said they were on a sensor and no way to turn them off, which is odd. I've never encountered this in a hotel before, have you? Day one she was very nice, day two, very dismissive. She said she'd never heard that complaint before. I told her it was okay, but maybe the hotel should consider dark shades. She didn't care. Change a lot. No more complementary breakfast of wine tasting. Room maintenance is just done when you depart. Hard to make reservation. After 8 pm or before you are in your own. Fireplace in rooms are not working, not because are broken but they do not want to spend a dime for guest accommodation. Fire place in common areas are shutdown or not working at all. When you read other reviews that say the walls are thin, they mean it. It surprised even me because older buildings tend to be made in a more sturdy way. I live in a house that was built in 1946 and the walls are thick! My dogs are quiet but with all of the creaky floors from the room above us and the fact that we were staying in the room behind the lobby and could hear the receptionist talking. They freaked out a couple of times and started barking. They travel with us often and they've never barked in any of the hotels we've stayed in. If your dogs get spooked by noises... Don't stay here! They do provide earplugs so they've had these complaints before... so that was considerate. But the noise is pretty awful. This place is clearly older, which is part of its charm. The rooms are cute, clean and well maintained. And the grounds are very adorable and have great landscaping. My complaints. They are semi-dog friendly. They allow dogs to stay in the room with you, yes. But it's hard to find a garbage can (you need these when you have dogs if places want you to clean up after them). Also they did not make their policy clear to us when we were checking in about not leaving your dogs unattended in the room. We had made reservations at a nice restaurant for my boyfriends birthday. And when we booked this hotel we didn't see this policy stated anywhere. Our dogs are very well behaved and quiet. The front desk lady saw us on our way out to our dinner reservation. And THEN mentioned that we couldn't leave our dogs in the room. I told her we wouldn't be gone long and that they were crated and not roaming about in the room alone. She then argued with us for a couple of minutes and said "Ok well I'm just letting you know for next time..." My dogs rarely bark but they started barking because they heard us talking to her for a while right outside the room. We gave up and went inside the room and cancelled our dinner reservations. She THEN called our room from the lobby a couple minutes later and told us we can't leave our dogs in the room. OK LADY, WE GET IT AND ALREADY CANCELLED THE RESERVATION WE'VE HAD FOR WEEKS! If you run a hotel that is "Dog friendly," please state your policies CLEARLY on whatever sites you book through and also notify your guests when they arrive with their pets so they can make other arrangements if need be. read more

After seeing some great pictures online of the breakfast, I was disappointed to learn at check in that they no longer serve breakfast. After reading the horrible state of repair the property seems to be in, I did myself a bud favor & found much better accommodations elsewhere at the price I was hoping to find. When we got to our room (J Lohr) room on 2nd floor I believe it was #2. I noticed that there was a strong air freshener/ perfume smell in the room. We put our bags down and decided to leave the sliding door open to air out the room. We went downtown for dinner and came back. By that time the room didn't smell of air freshener it reeked of mold and mildew. It was so bad it was bothering my asthma caused me to have a asthma attack. IT WAS SO BAD I HAD TO SLEEP WITH THE DOORS OPEN ALL NIGHT FOR FRESH AIR. I did a little yelping and EASILY FOUND AT LEAST 3 OTHER REVIEWS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME COVER UP MOLD AND MILDEW PROBLEM DATING BACK TO 2015. WTF guys. This owner obviously doesn't give a shit about any of his customers heath and wellbeing. They have the same problem for last 3 years and have not done anything about it. $279 a night to be exposed to contamination and a room that's bad for your HEATH Take your business elsewhere. We stayed here for one evening and it was absolutely lovely! The rooms are all themed around different wineries in the area. That wine is available for purchase if you choose to enjoy it in your room, your mini balcony or the little garden in the back. This place is quaint and comfortable. It's right off the main road which could get noisy at times I suppose but our experience was short. There is space for parking as well. The linens and room conditions were well kept and service was delightful as well. The complimentary breakfast was a little sub par compared to some other boutique hotels; I believe there's room for improvement. Overall it's an good choice! read more

I do have to say we were a little surprised with this stay, it wasn't bad at all. They actually have happy hour nightly in the lobby with some wine and hors d'oeuvres from 5pm-7pm which we missed since we got here just a tad late. The only problem here is that since we are so close to the woods the wifi here absolutely did not work, at all!! So, if you're looking for a place to just relax and stay off the grid this would be a perfect place. Which is what we ended up doing since we couldn't use any phone's or tablets, we turned to actual books and were able to finish them lol. They have a nice little patio outside where you can sit and chill, read or have a little drink but since it was cold we stayed inside lol. Bed was comfortable, they had a pretty big couch inside where you can sit and read as well. There was a mini fridge in the room but no microwave. If you needed something warmed up they would do it in the front desk for you. They do provide continental breakfast in the morning, they have a nice little spread for you to choose from. We stayed at this hotel July 18 to 20, 2022. It is pleasantly designed and decorated. But the rooms are small and have only one chair. This makes them unsuitable for more than one person. On the morning of July 19 and 20, I awoke with an itching back. Examination of my back after returning home revealed about 50 bed bug bites. I filed a report with the county health department. Stayed here for a night midweek for a wedding. The hotel is on a corner lot so you can't really miss it. It's quite charming from the outside. Parking was interesting. I was hoping that because I was staying midweek that it would be plentiful when I got back, but the official spaces were all taken at night. I got back around 8:30pm-9pm and parked on the far left side next to the wall so that cars could still get by if they left in the morning. My room was on the bottom floor away from the street so I didn't hear too much noise aside from the upstairs guest that was up bumbling around at 1am. The room itself was clean and bed was comfortable. I didn't have an issue with the smell. The property is older, but I didn't smell a strong scent of mildew or mold as some people have mentioned. My TV worked just fine. I had some issues with the WiFi in the morning, but when I went to breakfast and mentioned it to the ladies they called their provider and everything was fixed by the time I got back to my room. Continental breakfast was included. They had lots of pastries, bagels, quiche, coffee, and juice. They also had a wine and cheese hour, but I missed it due to the wedding. We stayed here this weekend for two nights. The grounds is so beautiful and well kept. I loved all the pretty flowers and plants. Very well landscaped. Our room was really clean and cute too. It was wine themed and seems each room has a different type of wine theme. I don't drink wine or know Much about it but it was still a nice, clean room!! The front desk lady was always nice to us. They provided a simple breakfast that we had the first morning then the day we checked out we just got a cup of coffee and a small yogurt before heading out to an actual breakfast. My wife and I stayed at this charming Inn a couple of weeks ago Like all Carmel Inns, it's not cheap but if you are looking to stay somewhere on a budget, you are looking in the wrong town. We were warmly greeted by Tom upon check-in and given the "lay of the land". We both like to have our luggage on racks but since most rooms only come with one, I asked Tom if we could get another. Not a problem - it was in our room within an hour. Be sure and take advantage of the wine and cheese (and more) in the evenings. It's a great appetizer before dinner. Of course when making a dinner reservation, do so a bit later in the evening as you don't want to miss out on the spread at Vendange. As for breakfast, again a nice set-up. We were more than satisfied with the offering and you'll be set until lunch time. My only compliant was that the coffee was a bit week but then, I like my coffee strong. Location wise, it's about a 15-20 minute walk from the downtown shops and restaurants. Walking from the Inn to the downtown was fine as it was still light out but once it gets dark after dinner, it get's VERY dark. There are no streetlights. So be sure and either pack a flashlight or power up your iPhones because you are going to need the flashlight app. We called a cab after dinner one evening but they are coming from Monterey (15 minutes away) so we decided to just get some more Fitbit points instead. My only real complaint about Vendange was that the walls are paper thin. I mean I could hear the quietest of conversations in the room next to us. Had our neighbors been newlyweds...well lets just say that I wouldn't have slept very well. Bring earplugs! read more

My fiancé and I were so excited to stay here--it was our first time to Carmel, and online this place looked adorable. Unfortunately, however, it was a terrible experience. When we stepped foot in the front office (after a 6 hour road trip), we were greeted by a woman named Rose. She was snappy, rude, and offended us both off the get go...(not a great start). We had to come back a few hours later, as our room wasn't ready, at which point we were greeted by a man named Tom. He was fully prepped with paperwork regarding my service dog. Tom proceeded to GRILL me on very personal questions making me detail my disability and need for my dog. When he didn't like my initial answers, he proceeded to dig further, making me re-answer until he was satisfied... this went on until it reached the point that I was literally humiliated and in tears. Mind you, I even had presented my legal service paperwork at the beginning, but he had refused to read it (Confusing...) I left the lobby completely shaken, and my fiancé had to finish the check in process. We would have left for good at this point, but the room was non refundable, and we were exhausted from the drive. All terrible service aside, while the property was quaint, and the room was fine, the walls were paper thin, and our room, literally directly above the lobby, was intruded with lobby and the busy highway noises all night. My fiancé left his watch in the room, and we just found out they charged us $26 dollars to ship it back....(same state ground shipping for a watch is not $26..) Terrible experience in an absolutely beautiful town. We will be back, Carmel (ironically named the most dog-friendly town in America), but NOT to the Vendange. P.S. it is not fun to detail this in a Yelp review, but it was such a terrible experience that I want others who may have a service animal to be warned. read more

The weekend we stayed, the internet and cable were down either by "an in-house issue" or weather related issue; front desk told us it was in house. Regardless, my fiancé and I had to find other means to use those amenities. I called numerous times as I was told at check out that I would receive a call about reimbursement; never received call. I called a third time and was told I was emailed and management approved 5% of my $350 stay, $17.50. I emailed to see if I could get 5% for each day (3) and have yet to hear from anyone. The room was done quite tastefully & it showed in little details like furniture, marble bath, etc. The only reason I didn't give 5 star was lack of ventilation in room at night. Since there is no AC the air circulation gets a bit stagnant. This is easily solved by opening the window but it does get noisy when cars pass if you do that. "Come for the Wine, stay for the backyard" I love this place. My partner and I were cruising to Santa Cruz from Bug Sur and decided the traffic was way too heavy to continue. We found this little gem on Hotels.com Little did we know, it's a wine themed inn. Each room is sponsored by a local winery who designed and decorated the rooms. It's clean, quaint, and the gardens are lovely. The service is warm and friendly, Tom was quite charming and helpful in checking us in. and the breakfast was wonderful, not your average hotel breakfast. Ok, I didn't stay there, as I had to cancel. But this review is related to their cancellation policy - what they state online versus what they seem to actually follow. Had reserved for 2 nights the weekend before Thanksgiving. 4 days before the stay, I had emergency surgery. I contacted them 3 days prior to cancel, as their cancellation policy says that cancellations within 7 days are charged 1st day (which was already charged to card), where no shows are charged full amount. So I expected to pay first night, but was disappointed to see on my card after I cancelled that they charged me for the second night. I tried contacting them about this by email, but they did not respond. They did respond to the earlier email about cancelling, so they do respond to at least some emails. Seems they did not want tto respond to my second email and deal with my concerns. It appears they are using the exception they have in their cancellation policy that allows them to charge full amount if there is a special event going on in area. This is off season, so no special events. But, after I cancelled, we did think that maybe I was well enough and we could go down, so we looked online to see if they still had rooms available, and they did - AT A DISCOUNT. So this was not some special event weekend where all the hotels in area were booked. Fighting with credit card to get the second night overturned. Very disappointed with hotel's business processes, and would never consider going there. If you do go there, make sure you don't have to cancel. read more

If you're looking for a little boutique hotel that is super cute on the outside but don't care about much else this place is for you. I was seriously disappointed once we got to our room. There were only two accessible outlets. They had 2.5 very flat tiny pillows for the king sized bed. No desk to work at. The fireplace is for looks only. The bathroom door won't close unless you lift the lid up on the toilet. No bath. The water takes FIVE minutes to get warm in the morning. The walls are paper thin. I spent the morning trying to work on my laptop in a cute but totally uncomfortable side table and chair. The whole time listening to my neighbors ENTIRE conversation through the vent in the wall. The garden outside is gorgeous and they give you a glass of wine on arrival. Other than that I'm so unimpressed. This place is WAY overpriced for what you get. read more
