I am ordered the corvina a lo macho and it portion size was very small. I asked the manager why ( after multiple attempts to contact her) such a small portion size and she said that due to higher food costs they were cutting back on portion sizes. Even though I I was getting about half the size, the price was still the same. I understand that food costs have increased, but the solution should not impact the end customer's experience. Great service, waitresses were very courteous and helpful to select the right dishes for our family. Our kids enjoyed the arepas and jugo de mora a lot. Everything was delicious, specially the pan de bonos, they came out of the oven! Also the baker walked around with fresh buñuelos, something unexpected, a nice treat! There should be an option for below ZERO! This experience was terrible. I ordered food through the Doordash app, and paid $118 and did not receive all of my order. I submitted to Doordash, but all they did was issue a partial credit, and say they would contact the restaurant and see what happened. However, I WAS STILL WITHOUT FOOD. So, not knowing how long that would take (obviously not the same day), I called the restaurant and began to tell the lady who answered what happened. She immediately began to place blame and say that was not the order she got, and she didn't charge me for it. That's where she went wrong at: She should have began with an apology and then explained that wasn't the order she got. I said "well, I was charged for it" and preceded to tell her what was on the order exactly ny name (because she asked what was missing). Then she started talking over me and making excuses saying something is wrong, to which I replied "clearly, and I'm not blaming you..." but I could not get a word in edgewise because her focus was intent on not taking ownership, and not giving a $#!+ about my loss in the situation. I ended up hanging up on her and going to the restaurant. She immediately was rude, she said she has "proof" and I said I have mine too. She would not listen, and then called the police. While waiting (because she clearly thought that would make me leave, but not all black people are afraid of the police), she asked to see the order receipt in the app, I showed it to her, then she said "call your bank" (as proof), so I showed her the charge in my bank's app...to which she found yet another excuse to not make good. Then when Plainfield's "finest" got there, and she realized I was not phased by their presence, and they weren't going to shut me up, she wanted to apologize, but still not give a damn to provide any customer service telling me to contact my bank. While I understand that this may not necessarily be their fault, the handling of the situation was inconsiderate, and blatantly disrespectful. This was not the first time I've had a bad experience with them. The last time they were just slow and rude, and I almost never ordered again then, but I figured it was just best to just continue to order though the app, and I wouldn't have to deal with them. But apparently they are just uncaring, disrespectful people, and the way I'm treated means more than how good any food could taste. So they will NEVER have my business again. read more

Went here for the first time today. I came for some good ceviche, and that's exactly what I got. I got the ceviche pescado that isn't spicy. Which is basically your classic ceviche with lemon juice, red onions, salt and pepper. But according to my boyfriend, they also have the option to make you're dish spicy or really spicy. From what I'm told, I would only advise getting the really spicy version if you're a spicy food fiend. Aside from the ceviche though, the interior is very nice. The waitresses were polite. Though it is true they do not speak very much English, but that's to be expected considering the area you're in. All in all, a good place and I'd love to return. read more

Let me just tell you how good this place is. When though the good and atmosphere was amazing, there was a little communication barrier with the waiter. Be ready to take your food to go because it was a lot. I had the seafood with crab legs and calemare (forgot what it was called) and it was amazingly good. I asked the waiter if they served any smoothies. He said "No". However I looked around and saw that the other costumers had juices and other kinds of drinks. That's why I gave them 4 stars. The only good thing from this 25 dollar meal was the lime wedges. I haven't had lomo saltado in years, and I can say this is by far the best I have ever had. They were super nice and quick. I ordered pick up and it was hot fresh and amazing! Go there or order because it will blow your mind! I can't wait to try other dishes next time I come home. We came early on a Friday night and there was only one other table. By the time we left it was packed. The chips that came to the table were pretty good - the salsa wasn't great but they did bring the two peruvian aji sauces, which were excellent. We ordered the ceviche mixto as an appetizer and because it was actually a dinner portion it was huge! Way too big for two people. We'll have to come back with a bigger group next time. Husband had the seafood over rice and I had what was basically "all the meats" plus rice plus plaintains plus avocado. Pretty much all of my favorites on one giant plate of food. Everything was excellent. The service was top notch. The only thing I would change for next time (because we will be back) is that the entrees came out too soon - we were still working on the appetizer. I was fiendin for Peruvian food when I remember where I lived. There are a gang of South American restaurants in this area. So I found this gem. Inside of upgraded and so cute. I asked for roasted chicken and I was told that they didn't have any. Seriously...a Peruvian place with no roasted chicken. I sulked and she suggested the fried chicken. So I jumped at the chance to try it. Man o man....this well marinated, flat top fried, crispy on the outside, moist on the inside piece of chicken I had was everything. Then to top is with the aji sauce.......I was done. I only could eat a small amount so the rest went to be hubby when he came from work. He now sees why I rave on this aji green sauce. We came here twice, and both times, the service and food were excellent. We ordered Lomo Saltado both times just to see if it would be consistent, and it was! The sauce is so delightful. I remember when I came here for the first time, and right when I got my Lomo Saltado, I found out my uncle died so I didn't have much of an appetite. However, I still ate it, but I knew I'd have to come back when I was in a better mood since I didn't really get to enjoy the food as much even though it was so delicious! I have to add that it did give me some comfort because it felt like one of the most delicious home cooked meals. The second visit, we also had Salchipapa, Bisteck Encebollado, and Churrasco. The way they make fries is just perfect. The meat hardly seems to be overcooked or dry. The onions... They are the best onions I've ever had. My only regret is not having enough room for dessert and empanadas. I can eat here at least twice a month. Great flavor, nice decor, awesome service! It's expensive compared to other Peruvian restaurants, but this place will make you comfortable about spending your money. read more

This is a good place for Peruvian style seafood. Don't expect the servers to speak much English though. The menu is in English, but isn't always very specific. There are also a few dishes that aren't on the menu that you have to know to ask for. Which is fine as long as you go with someone who knows to ask. After receiving a menu in the mail and then checking this place out on Yelp I decided to give it a try. I have to be honest, this place was not good...it was flipping AWESOME!!! It's cute, clean, and has an upbeat warm and friendly vibe going on. The tables are well separated and you never feel crowded. TV sports and Spanish music videos. A patron or three sitting at their tables grooving to the beat. I read some reviews about language barriers and waitresses ignoring or being rude. I have no idea where these people ate but it couldn't of been here. Every single person was warm, friendly and knowledgable. Yes the English was not perfect but it was very easy to communicate and I felt like I missed nothing. Our waitress Heidy made us feel so comfortable and truly went the extra mile to make our dining experience memorable. She was fantastic and I can't say enough about her. Now the food...OMG!!! was it fabulous! Really, it was. We started with a beef kabob appetizer that was great, It was perfectly marinated and delicious. It came with a boiled sliced potato dish in an egg style sauce with Peruvian corn kernels the size of my thumb. I had the Ceviche de Camarones. I wanted more than just the shrimp so I asked what was the fish of the day and she told me it was fresh pollock. I asked if I could deviate from the menu and add the fish to my dish. Heidy's response, "of course, no problem". And let me tell you it was some of the best ceviche I've ever eaten. The lime sauce was silky and fantastic. My brother-in-law had the pork chops, HUGE portion. Marinated and grilled to perfection. There here must of been three flat but big chops on his plate. Upon fun banter and request Heidy gave us small samples of both food and drink to try at no cost. Bottom line, I love this place. We went there last night and I'm already jonesing to go back tonight! This will from now on be in my regular restaurant circle. My wife is out of town until next week and when she gets home I'll be on my way back to see Heidy pronto! I was impressed with the cleanliness and the decor of the place, but I was disappointed with the rather small portions for the amount of money they are charging. Tradiciones de mi Pubelo has good food. They give you a generous portion, however working in the area and comparing to other local restaurants, they are a bit pricey. They do have a special limited lunch menu which has more value as it gives you a soup, entree and drink for about $8. It's always busy on the weekends especially, as they sometimes have live music in the evenings which is a nice touch. Will definitely go back. read more
