Yes ... just yes people. This place kind of lies to you from the outside, seems like your regular old Mexican taco shop but step into a space that wraps around the end of the plaza. Super clean and vibrant and the staff was lovely! Now the tacos! I was actually blown away, i don't know if i got lucky but i could tell the meat was fresh and chopped into small bites, for me that's the key to a great bite not fighting to get the meat to come apart, the tortilla had just a little crisp which helps the taco stay together with your toppings which brings me to the salsa, caramelized onions and pickled carrots ALL top notch! First time here, had no expectations, large outside covered patio. Walked inside and noticed the menu on the wall and you order the food at the counter. Was expecting a fast food place, however was pleasantly surprised. Prices were moderate, but portion size was very large. Ordered the chili relleno. They have a salsa bar and condiments, all packaged for individual use. The lunch I ordered had two large cheese stuffed chili relleno, rice and beans with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. Service was great. Food was tasty, Restaurant was clean. I could not finish the meal. I found this place by pure chance. It does not appear to be a chain. All good here. read more

I was torn between a breakfast burrito and the jalisco-style chilaquiles. I had to get the chilaquiles! Jalisco-style chilaquiles are crispy fried tortilla triangles simmered in a rich, savory red sauce (salsa roja) made from roasted tomatoes, garlic, onion, and dried guajillo/ancho chilies, resulting in a balanced texture, softened but not soggy, and served with eggs your way (I had my eggs over easy), crema, and queso fresco. The key is frying tortillas until crisp, making a robust chili-tomato sauce, then briefly cooking them together for authentic flavor and this place does it well. Eat it with a fork and, "¡Buen provecho!" I enjoyed every single chip and not a crumb was left behind. And that sauce? Spicy! Love it. This is a great place! Chimichanga Fact: It is believed that the chimichanga was created by accident in the 1940s at Macayo's Mexican Food when the founder dropped a burrito into a deep fryer. The first time I popped in, I came with some co-workers for a work lunch. I ordered the #12 Chimichanga Style for $16.99 because who doesn't love a deep-fried burrito? It came with beans, rice, pico de gallo, and some guacamole. It was a generous portion and fed me for two meals. It was delicious and I went back to work trying to fight off a food coma the rest of the day. We also shared some churros. The second time I came, I shared a breakfast burrito and chilequiles. Both were just as amazing. The burrito was left and the chilequiles had some crispy chips along with some saucier ones. I recommend getting your chilequiles with the Jalisco sauce if you can handle spice. It certainly has me sweating. I like this place. I want to come back for their menudo. Two thumbs up. read more

This food was fine but not amazing. I saw a reel on instagram for it so came when I was on this side of town. My food was $30 with the meal and chips and salsa which are NOT INCLUDED. "VERY DECEPTIVE ON PRICES!" Very deceptive pricing practices! I went in for a breakfast burrito, which was clearly listed on their digital menu for $12.50. But when they rang it up, they tried to charge me $14.50. I pointed out the discrepancy, and the cashier called the manager. The manager's response? "Oh well, we have a sign saying prices can change anytime." If that's the case, why not update the menu--especially a digital one? It's not rocket science. This felt like bait-and-switch tactics, and I was so pissed off that I walked out. No way I'm paying $14.50 for a basic breakfast burrito--are they using golden eggs or something? Came here for big back Sunday dinner with some friends. The restaurant is very clean, and I love the loteria decor! Service was excellent, the cashier was very friendly, and our food came out quickly. You order at the register, and the food is brought to your table. The food was all delicious! I got the 2 fish taco combo, with an horchata to drink. The horchata was great, not to sweet, which is what I prefer. The tacos were huge and delicious! I thought the thinly shredded cucumber on the taco added great flavor to it. The portion sizes here are excellent, and you really get your monies worth. My friend got the 5 piece chicken flautas ahogadas, and a side of fries. The flautas were fantastic, nice crunch and the sauce was delicious. My other 2 friends got the crispy taco combo and the carne asada nachos, which both looked excellent as well, and they raved about. They have a few different locations around the valley. This place is so much better than filibertos or similar chain restaurants. Give them a try next time your craving some good Mexican food! read more

I found one the fish tacos weren't included in the taco Tuesday deal. Again, it is not posted anywhere on the menu or counter. My food came out hot which was great so it is fresh. I got a couple of their salsa to try as well but I didn't find their tacos as exciting. Flavor-wise, it felt a bit lack of flavor even with the salsa. I added a bit of salt and pepper, which made it better but food could be better. I did really like the fish taco. The fish was flavorful and seasoned well. I loved the tacos at the Chandler drive thru location and heard they had a larger Tempe location. It is located on a corner with multiple entrances and service begins at the counter. I chose the quesabirria combo which was lit. It did not disappoint. However, I must give a disclaimer if you have heart conditions you know you can't eat these too often because they are not healthy but they are so good. There are three full-size tacos, loaded with beef and cheese dipped in the oil and come with the consommé. It also came with beans and rice. I could not eat all 3, but I am not a very good Mexican They had individually wrapped vegetables and salsas. The sitting area was well lit and the decor was not tacky. You could get a nice pic with your date looking through the large cutout. Overall, it's a great place to enjoy a great meal and I'll be going back and bringing some reinforcements. read more

My friend brought me here as it was across the street from her appointment neither of us had been. It's super clean on the inside not super friendly at the front counter. Felt very awkward and like an inconvenience ordering could've just been how I perceived it. Pretty sure that my fish tacos were not fully cooked as they were a little slimy on the inside. While we waited I nibbled on baggies of pickled carrot and onion, very tasty. I ordered 5 flautas, 10.99. It came in a bowl with cojita, pickled onion, cream, avocado and thinly sliced tomatoes. The flutes were filled with shredded beef. I took a bite from each one, to allow each to soak up more wonderful spice from the salsa soup. It had a spicy lime flavor, perfect with the flautas. The birria taco was cheesy excellence and the consommé for dipping, beautiful! Sopa was on point, toppings all tasty! Watch out for the 'super hot' salsa at the bar, whoa!! When we drove up, there was a man cooking tortillas outside at a cart in front of the restaurant. I think they were trying to generate interest from people driving by. Upon entering, it was obvious that the dining room was extremely clean. They have a license to sell beer because we ordered Negro Modelos but I'm not sure if they have a license for liquor yet. I ordered a plate with chilli relleno, a chicken taco and chicken enchilada with green sauce. The chilli relleno was fried with a thick breading that I didn't care for. The breading had no flavor and was quite oily. The server brought a red sauce that she said I could pour on it, but the sauce was cold to the touch. The chicken in the enchilada wasn't very warm but it was packed with chicken. I wasn't a fan of the taco being laid in the beans and sauce because it was very messy to eat when covered in the surrounding sauce. Hubby ordered fajitas and was happy with the many tortillas that came with it but he thought it needed some accompaniments like sour cream and guacamole. He thought the chicken lacked flavor. We both enjoyed the green sauce from the salsa bar as well as the pickled onions and cucumber. Overall, the place was very cute, clean and had good ambiance, but we felt there was a lot lacking with the food, especially for the price we paid. read more

Chile relleno was mostly bland breading. The taco was served on its side covered in stuff so it couldnt be picked up neatly, yet they give you plastic utensils that break when trying to eat it, and it was about a thimble full of meat inside a hard shell, essentially sealed closed if I recall correctly. The enchilada sauce was bland. The only saving grace was that the salsa provided to pour over the top was quite good & spicy, but every item on its own was below average. read more
