I can't review the food because I went there. Walking. Stood there for over five minutes with not one person saying anything or even at the counter. The a lady rides up on a bike , walks in, they say hi, take her order and she pays. Not once, even after the bike lady did they say a word or even look at me. Plus the place smelled like sewer. This is a very good Mexican taco shop, I picked it on my trip to AZ as it ended in "to's" which is a SD type of thing, so my goal was to find San Diego Style mexican food, particularly the Carne Asada. I was not disappointed. First off I did this to go and I wouldn't exactly say this is a place you want to spend a lot of time in. The carne asada was just in SD and was yummy. I was glad my room had a microwave because I was only 5 minute away but by the time I got to my room it wasn't hot anymore. I went twice, first time I got a chicken taco which was good but they put it into a styrophom container and that made one side of the taco soggy and couldn't pick it up. But the chicken was legit! I JUST CANT GET OVER HOW GOOD IT IS!! If you go here do yourself a favor and get what they're most famous for their taquitos with guacamole. You seriously get a mountain of guac with cheese it is so flavorful and so delicious! The prices are very reasonable!! You can easily get full with $4. They did increase their price is a little bit since last year but they are still very competitive within the Mexican food market. I hope their prices continue to stay this way. Wow! The prices are amazing here. $3.99 for 5 rolled tacos covered in a mountain of guacamole and cheese. Compare this to Federico's for example, which is ~$10 for 4 rolled tacos with rice and beans. And they don't even give as much guacamole or taste as good. This place also has very good salsa, there's spices and chunks in it, yummy! They also gave us lots of complimentary cucumbers, lime, and pickled veggies when we asked. I would love to try more food here. My new spot for rolled tacos/taquitos though!!! read more

I ordered the green chili plate and it was unexpectedly amazing! Hard to find good pork green chili that isn't dry but this was moist and flavorful. The flour tortilla was enormous and loved the rice! I tried each of the three choices of salsa and they were all delicious! I will definitely come back to try the carnitas because I overheard people saying how great it was. This is more of a fast food place where you order at the counter but there is inside seating. This is probably some of the best Mexican food I ever had! I had the California burrito which was a very big size for the price I paid. I also added guac and it was only $0.69. This is unlike anywhere else such as Chipotle that charges almost $3 just to add it. Don't let the interior fool you. It's a hole in the wall place, and the food is amazing. The steak was very tender and juicy and everything about the burrito was flavorful. The lady working the cash register is also super friendly. I got the burrito, a Horchata, and 2 churros and still spent less than $13 on a very delicious and filling meal. Expect a few minutes of a wait because they are a small restaurant and do not have a ton of employees. That is what makes this place very special. All their food is made with love. The lady manning the register and cleaning the dining area was such a sweet angel with a kind and welcoming smile Plot: Okay so my manz and I drove in from Los Angeles and I was telling him how I'm going to have him eat at all the places I grew up on in Phoenix. I was going to put him onto the taquitos from Filiberto's across the street from the elementary school I attended. The reviews on Yelp showed Filiberto's had 2 stars. To be honest, I wasn't surprised by this because it's not the most glorious of restaurants. Filibertos is a little hole in the wall type vibe and they have many locations but the one across the street from my school was just nostalgic af. Anyways, long story short, Polibertos had 4 stars on Yelp which is actually quite impressive considering it's a lil hole in the wall joint as well. So I pretty much took a risk and said screw a nostalgic moment! ATMOSPHERE: Upon driving up, the place was empty. 1130pm on a Sunday evening. The lady taking care of the cash register was mopping the floors. While I appreciate the attention to cleanliness, the floor cleaning detergent smelled very strong. I would highly suggest mixing more water and less detergent because the smell was so powerful that it almost made us lose our appetite. The tables and seats were wiped down and very clean, though! I even saw that she was wiping down the counters while we ate and even after we left and got into the car. CLEANLINESS: Don't go in the women's restroom (didn't see the mens restroom) The only reason why they didn't get a 5/5 was the bathroom. I went to wash my hands before the meal was cooked. Toilet was not flushed so I had to flush it. The space smelled of urine. While we do love art and don't typically care about graffiti, the graffiti in the bathroom walls did not help the first impression of a dirty restroom. There was no soap and no paper towels so I was going to go out to ask for some but I was pretty grossed out by the wet door handle. Went to the car and washed my hands with my hydroflask and soap. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The lady at the register made for such a great experience. So warm and welcoming. A kind smile. Asked me if it was okay to add cheese on my taquitos and I was like hell yes please. FOOD: I loved the HUGE menu. So many items! I didn't care to look at anything aside from the taquitos hahahaha. Obviously, I had one meal in mind coming into Phoenix. Taquitos with cheese and carne asada with guacamole on the side 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I don't know why I ever moved to California. I can't find great taquitos like this ANYWHERE in SoCal. Crispy and crunchy. Not oily. TONS of cheese. And the carne asada on top was a first. Their carne asada was soft and tender and well seasoned. Don't forget to ask for sour cream! Service: They closed at midnight. We arrived at 11pm and they treated us like they had just opened for the day. No rushing, service with a smile, refills and fresh, hot churros. Ambiance: Typical small Mexican restaurant with minimal decor. It's like so many others in The Valley with grimy restrooms and graffiti. However, it seems to be family rather than corporate owned. I hope that they have a GC Beef option for us locals! I opted for a burro de cabeza. She kindly added onion, cilantro, & sauteed bell pepper rajas... This was amazing? A perfect, thin, translucent flour tortilla stuffed w/ veggies & crispy, succulent beef (no gravy though). I added plenty of their green sauce. Unexpected spot that I've driven by dozens of time but never thought to stop in and give a try. Postgame dinner we decided to head over as it was late (after 8pm). From the outside I thought another Filbertos but it's different. If u can't park when u first pull in just follow it around like a drive-thru and parking is on the other side... ignore the houses if u can but they almost seem integrated into the lot! The menu takes a minute to absorb just because they have a bunch of combos/platters all listed by numbers. It's nice they have some pictures so u get an easy of idea of what your getting. If u don't see a particular combo with the type of meat u want, just let them know and they will take care of it with no issue. Hence, that means the food is being prepared for you as fresh as possible. While u wait a bit, help yourself to the chips and salsa bar. It gets messy with ease but that's because everyone is grabbing the chips and different salsas in those small containers. (Need to upgrade the station with some different containers and serving utensils that don't cause as much spillage. it can be a major turnoff if your walking in to see) Food took a minute but we ordered fish tacos, mini tacos and a combo platter with carne asada taco and a burro along with rice & beans. Unexpected goodness with the food for everyone. Looking forward to returning when in the area. Definitely a step up with different alternatives for combos the many of the chain locations in the valley. Finally found my Cali Mex in the A.Z # Outstanding!! It was pretty busy at lunch time too! The greatest was the abundance of Hot Carrots offered - tastiest yet! Beautiful salsa bar with three salsas. Sliced lime wedges, diced cucumber & sliced radishes. Fresh homemade chips are filled often to the right of the station as well. Carne Asada is flavorful and the perfect petite cuts that are sizzled / seasoned on that hot griddle to perfection. Fresh guacamole is delish & the superb dip for those fresh tortilla chips! The Chimichanga is gigantic. Well worth the price & you'll make two meals out of one! Colorado burrito is enormous, was an added delight to have it "wet" with enchilada sauce on top! Lived in Ca. 30 years so Baja Mexican food was delicious but taken for granted. Didn't realize I couldn't get it everywhere until I moved to Atlanta 5 years ago and Tex Mex is all that is served . I'm in Phoenix for a week and just tried Poliberto's!! Maaaan!!!! when I bit into that crunchy shell shredded beef taco I almost cried!! The cheese enchilada was very good as well. Red and green delicious salsa was on point as were the beans and rice! I'm coming back as much as I can to get my Baja Mex food fix!! I can walk it off later!! I have driven by here for many years when coming to visit family nearby. We've always kept on going because we eat at my family's house. I tried a red and a verde salsa. Both were good with a little heat. I got a pickled jalapeño and the last of the radishes. They really needed to restock the chips & salsas, and condiments. I decided to get a Fish Taco and an Adobada Taco. The size of the tortillas was your regular sized corn tortillas, not the smaller street taco size. At $2.49 a piece, I felt I got my money's worth. I really enjoyed the fish taco. The fish was hot and crispy. It was topped with lettuce, pico de gallo & a white sauce. The adobada taco was good, but was a little salty. It was topped with guacamole & pico de gallo and enhanced the taco! Don't judge the book by its' cover! I would come back for a burrito or some other items that looked good, too! read more
