It came with ribs, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, baked beans, pulled pork, and a piece of cornbread. It was all so good, but I just wish there was another piece e of chicken in the skillet. The service was fine, you ordered and then sat down, so not to much interaction. The view was good. Our first night here we went to the trails and restaurant and we heard mixed reviews, but I will say our experience was amazing. We got the family meal that had chicken sides and bread it was really good. My family loved it. To make this experience even better Insandra got my kids some crayons and paper that they were able to color their drawings and put them up in the wall. 2.5 - meh Was disappointed in the $18.99 skillet. The ribs were OK, the fried chicken was on the level of KFC, definitely no better. The pulled pork was an utter greasy mess. Cornbread not bad. Definitely a single person serving and not enough to share the bread. The highlight of my meal was the baked beans. The mashed potato with a bit of peel remaining was pretty good but that's not my thing. Certainly this quick service spot guaranteed owes a guaranteed longevity to serving as kitchen to the Hoop Dee Doo musical next-door. Moreover, why do they serve pizza here? Judging just on the merits of the food, nothing special. The grandparents ordered behind our family and somehow got their food 5 to 10 minutes before we got ours. Otherwise, the place was well staffed with lots of helpers wiping down the drink stations and offering pointers and suggestions. Staff was friendly. I give breakfast way less stars than lunch/dinner. Usually the plant-based options are pretty good but not here. The jackfruit on the harvest platter was tasteless, like they just pulled it out of a bag. I was a fan of the allergy-friendly rolls, and the potato barrels, aka tater tots. The brisket was tender and the fries were crisp. I especially loved the horseradish that came in it. It do wish there was some BBQ sauce or an aioli because the sliders were a little dry. Trailer's End Restaurant is the quick service spot at Fort Wilderness. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they offer a wide variety of options from BBQ, to pizza, to other typical quick service items that can be found resort wide. (Breakfast has hot breakfast options to choose from.) It can be found at the opposite end of the resort from the check in and the bus stop to the parks, adjacent to the dock to the boat that takes you to Magic Kingdom and near Pioneer Hall. There's a ton of golf cart parking right in front of the restaurant. Orders can be placed in-person or through mobile order in the MyDisneyExperience app. We've found service has been faster with the app as they are always super busy inside. Cast Members are extremely friendly and helpful inside from the staff working to serve the food, to the cashiers, to those who are responsible for cleaning the dining area. It's always a positive experience for us. We typically get one of their BBQ meals to share and it will carry us through a few meals as a small family of three. The meat is always tender and flavorful. I love their chicken and my hubby loves the ribs. Their sides are also very tasty and I can never pass on their corn bread. Such a great deal (for Disney prices) on a filling and quality meal for the family. We recently had breakfast there for the first time and tried the Mickey waffles (which you can never go wrong with) and the Totchos. Generous portions and tasty. Definitely recommend. Trail's End Restaurant is one the best quick service options I've had at a WDW resort. The food here is just mediocre. It is a typical quick service. It is the same food as the Hoop-Dee-Doo Review. The fried chicken is eatable but I would not say it is good. Publix fried chicken is way better. All of the deserts are VERY sweet. The BBQ is rather bland. The building itself is cute but it has very simple seating. If you want good fried chicken on property go to Art Smith's. If you want good BBQ go to Polite Pig and if you want good deserts go to Amorette's. read more

This was my first time eating at Trails End quick service restaurant since they converted from an all-you-can eat buffet a couple years ago. I was a fan of the buffet restaurant. So I wasn't sure how the new incarnation would work. Well, I'm pleasantly surprised. The new restaurant lived up to my expectations. While I think the buffet made for a better "destination" restaurant -- that is, a restaurant I'd travel to from another resort -- I think the new format works better for Fort Wilderness campers. Its quick, convenient service meets the needs for a broader set of diners. The food quality is good. The ingredients were fresh and, to some degree, mirrored the food originally served at the buffet. Last night (Thanksgiving) I had an excellent Holiday sandwich. Turkey, stuffing, gravy, and a bit of cranberry sauce served on a fresh roll. I'd say it was on par with the Holiday sandwich at Earls of Sandwich (high praise, as that's a perennial fave of mine). Their offering saved me a trip over to Disney Springs. This morning, I had the breakfast pizza. What a novel idea; a great way to make use of their pizza ovens in the morning. The pizza included egg, sausage and cheese... and was quite tasty. I also tried the biscuits and gravy, as well as the Mickey Cinnamon Roll (which was cute and looked yummy). The cinnamon roll lived up to its promise, but unfortunately, the biscuits and gravy didn't quite get there. The biscuits were fine... the gravy was too bland. While the sausage gave the pizza the flavor kick that made it great, the same didn't happen for the sausage gravy. I suspect there just wasn't enough sausage in the gravy. (This is the biggest problem I find with biscuits and gravy across the country. Not enough flavor.) The only other negative I could find is that it's difficult to figure out all they have to offer. The menu is relatively simple. But they have a number of additional items that aren't on the menu. For example, I was able to get a side of Cole slaw with my sandwich (although I got so full I couldn't finish it). And you can order a single slice of breakfast pizza as opposed to the whole pie. (Although, be warned, a single slice isn't a very good value compared to the pie.) Also, don't forget to check the grab and go family portion containers for more options (they looked good). If you don't see what you want, it never hurts to ask. (But since the prices of off the menu items aren't listed, you might want to check on them before ordering.) To finish up this review, I want to commend the staff at Trails End. Their service was exemplary. First of all, there were enough employees to keep things clean and running. (You don't see that at a lot of fast food restaurants anymore.) And when I had an issue this morning (my fault), they were quick to resolve it. They even made it easy for me, letting me eat my food while they went and fixed my problem. Highly recommended for anyone who finds themselves at Fort Wilderness! read more

Their brisket is cooked perfectly...and it's in a to-go container ready to grab. (And the green beans are annoyingly good). I have had brisket in every way possible...and this stuff has no business being this good...at a quick-service no less! It's very traditional, not slopped in sauce. Breakfast sandwiches are good. Chicken. Egg, and cheese Biscuit sandwich was huge and tasty. And the croissants were good too. You won't be disappointed at all, but...they're sandwiches. (You can order bacon/eggs/etc too). Dining experience is fine... it's about what you would expect. Open seating that you can sit in when you get your food. It gets loud at the hot hours, but there's always seating available. read more

The more I eat at WDW, the more I dislike the food. It seems to me that they cover up the lack of flavor by burying it in salt. We ate at Trails end twice, Once for Dinner and once for Breakfast. both meals ended up in the trash. If you need to be on a heart healthy diet or just trying to eat somewhat healthy, this is not the place. We tried to get a fresh fruit cup, but they were out, and our request was ignored. We've eaten at Trail's End several times before this visit. Those experiences were wonderful, magical, and full of fabulous food! This experience...not so much. We paid $19.99 per person for limited options served family style rather than the typical buffet, due to covid. Which I totally understand the modification, but do not understand that price point for very limited options! Soooo disappointed this time. We had decent service, but our server seemed a little overwhelmed that day. He was very friendly although slow. Very. Slow. We will not return until the usual buffet returns. Not because we disagree with family style dining, but because I'm disappointed in the price point for what you normally can choose from versus what you currently receive. Aside from that, this is traditionally a VERY popular place to dine so be sure to make reservations! Every now and then you can get in without a reservation. But, if your heart is set on it then I suggest making a reservation which you can do 60 days before your scheduled arrival date if you have a resort stay. If you're not staying on property you can still eat here, but you will currently need a reservation for sure if not staying on property. You simply drive up to fort wilderness check in and inform them you've arrived. They'll check the reservations to confirm, then you park in fort wilderness parking and ride the bus back to the restaurant. One other thing that's always the same... You have to walk outside of the restaurant to use the restroom as it's not inside the building. The restroom is a small walk away. Kind of annoying and inconvenient. Trail's End is typically a staple for those staying at the fort. I can't wait for it to hopefully return to it's former glory one day soon. read more

This was the second time we visited the Trail's End Restaurant and very disappointed with the change. Last time we came for breakfast was served fresh in a large black iron pot everything was great at a good price. This time the options changed and choices were limited. For $12.99 now you get a scoop of scrambled eggs, a5 or 6 tater tots, a small hard biscuit, one bacon, one sausage link all precooked on a paper plate. Very disappointed. Unfortunately this will be the last time we come here while at Camp Wilderness and we will just prepare breakfast in the RV. As many have mentioned, unless you are staying at the campground this one is a bit of a PIA to get to. You're taking a boat to their campground's dock from Magic Kingdom or Wilderness Lodge or you could take a bus to one of the parks and then transfer to a Fort Wilderness Campground bus and then transfer again to one of their internal campground buses or you can drive to the campground and then take one of the internal buses (in premise you could walk from the parking lot but it's something like a mile and a half). Got that? Good, me neither. Honestly, driving to the campground and then taking one of their internal buses is the fastest way to get to Trail's End. Everything else takes imminently longer. We were here two weeks ago on a weekday and getting a reservation wasn't hard. We just had checked into Coronado Springs around 3:30, went to the website and found a time for 4:30 (which is when they open) and got in the car and left. Driving to the campground lot and taking an internal bus took about 30 minutes. Not too bad. A few random thoughts: - Comparatively the place was dead. There were about five families there with us for the 4:30 opening and by the time we left maybe another three or four tables got seated. Past that nada. - Whatever the old menu was, it's gone. In its place is a family style setup of a shared bread basket, meats, salad and dessert. Everything is all you can eat and there are a few extra cost add-ons like salmon, shrimp and ribs if you are so inclined. Basic non-alcoholic beverages like soda, water and lemonade are included in the price. - The service was excellent. Our guy was from NJ and we talked about some mutual interest points back in the northeast. He was quick and on point. As for the food: - The goat cheese chive biscuits are great. To me the cornbread was dry and I'm not going near a hushpuppy so nay-nay on that one. - The rotisserie chicken was decent but if you've ever gotten one at the grocery store it's basically the same thing. The brisket was fairly fatty and unless you like to chizzle your grizzle I'm not so sure on the quality of that one. The andouille sausage was very good but the fingerling potatoes were drenched in salt. The covered wagon sundae was also not that great. Bland tasting ice cream and the bacon from the chocolate covered bacon was fairly limp and undercooked at the core. While the ambiance was nice and the experience of getting here was also fun, the food itself for $30 per person plus tax and tip is a bit much. You could probably get pseudo-comparable stuff at a Golden Corral for 1/2 the cost. Glad we tried something new and different but I think I'll chalk this one up to being a one and done. read more

All you care, family style dining in Fort Wilderness. Staying at the nearby Wilderness Lodge, we discovered that the boat that used to run is not in early 2022. There also used to be a walkway that is closed as well with some new construction taking place. That left a bus that runs every 20 to 30 minutes or just driving our car. We chose the latter but found you still need to ride a bus once you park there to reach the restaurant. Needless to say we arrived a few minutes late but had no issues with our reservation. Pro tip for dining. The restaurant was as cold as a meat locker. The four of us were freezing the entire time so consider bringing an appropriate Mickey sweatshirt. The price of admission includes all the food and non alcoholic beverages. They offer several canned beers, glasses of wine and have a full bar. The "kids" went with chocolate milk served in mason jars. The cans of beer are 16oz in size which helps soften the price they are charging for them. Highlights in our meal included the hush puppies and corn bread to start. The beef brisket was our favorite and fell apart. I somehow ended up with a couple bits of it in my beer. As in, they bring you a pan loaded down with a 1/2 smoked chicken, smoked & shredded pork, and 2 good size slices of brisket. It also came with green beans, 2 ears of corn, and boiled potatoes. Served with a side of SWEET cornbread with honey butter. It was just my husband and me tonight for an all-you-can-eat dinner and when we were almost through with that pan they brought us another (bigger than the first serving) . 2 was our limit though because you really need to save room for dessert, it's a part of the meal too. The shareable desserts were served in pint-sized glass canning jars and were: banana pudding, candy apple pudding, and a s'more type pudding. Sweet, but it was way too much dessert for us and we couldn't eat it all. Food arrived hot & delicious. Drinks kept filled. Very glad to have had the ability to eat at this restaurant. First time going back to trails end since they went to family style. We had only eaten here for breakfast in the past and honestly I had not been a huge fan of it. I like the family style a lot better and I think the price point is good. Breakfast- I expected the brisket to be slices but it's chunks inside the eggs. The yogurt was just ok, tasted like sweet store yogurt. I wish it was plain or green yogurt instead of strawberry. The cheesy potato casserole was so good! The pastries were really good as well. The multigrain croissant was yummy and the sticky bun was very good. They said the muffins were blueberry but they definitely had no blueberries. Dinner- I could tell the servers were very stressed, they were very busy and being sat way too fast with huge parties. I felt pretty bad for them. Our server didn't seem to want much to do with us and was making mistakes but then once we ordered some additional cost beverages she perked up and was much nicer. The food was really good. The brisket was great and because I don't eat pork they brought us a few things from the plant based menu. The dressing is usually a bacon one so they brought both that and a balsamic, John said of the two the balsamic was better. The green beans were very flavorful, as was the corn. For dessert, they said that just about all desserts had gelatin in them and they haven't been able to confirm if they are made from pork so I couldn't eat them- only the banana one. I asked about the plant based one, since that should definitely not have anything meat based, but the server said they don't even know about that one... very confusing. Not only one of my favorite Disney restaurants, but one of my favorite restaurants ever! Trail's End is one of Disney's best kept "secrets" (maybe not anymore after I post this!). I'm not sure why because the food is incredible and the prices are exceptionally reasonable as far as Disney prices go. Perhaps it's such a secret because it's a bit difficult to get to since it's at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds. From Magic Kingdom, you'll have to take one of Disney's free boat services. If you drive or take a bus from one of the other parks, you'll have to park or get dropped off in the front of the campsite and take a campground bus to get dropped off in the Settlement part of the resort (near Bay Lake). Give yourself an hour to travel there before your reservation if you're relying on Disney transportation. I've been for breakfast, brunch and dinner and even came for Christmas dinner once and every time has been incredible. It's an all you can eat buffet with southern/BBQ food. Very homey/campfire-y decor, thus very casual and relaxing. Rocking chairs out on the porch while you wait. One of the few places on property that has chocolate chip Mickey waffles! I also love the pulled pork eggs Benedict. Lots of great options to choose from; best fried chicken, chili, and ribs on Disney property hands down! Dessert options are scrumptious. We were skeptical at first but left satisfied and enjoyed all the food! We were seated near the take-out area so there was a lot of people coming in and out. If that's not your jam, you might want to request a different table. Kevin, our server was great-explained all the food items and provided extra of anything we wanted. They were out of the 50th celebration souvenir cup so that was a bummer. Every table was taken so the place was jam packed - you are still asked to wear a mask when entering any indoor location. We ordered fried chicken too at no extra cost. This isn't on the menu so you'd have to request it. The restaurant was busy (day after Thanksgiving) so in between something being brought out to the table, there was a bit of a wait-it is all you care to eat so it may have been a blessing (to give room for food to settle). As a bonus, received a 10% discount on the check because I used a Disney Visa card. It is not exactly the same food from hoop-dee-do (we thought it would be) but was still delicious. If you feel like the convenience of a buffet meal for your table service while staying at Fort Wilderness, this is your only choice. It's decent BBQ & sides for lunch and dinner and sub-par bland over-cooked breakfast items before that. It's conveniently located at the settlement near the boat marina and the kitchen is also used for P&J's Southern Takeout as well as the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review next door. If you have any allergies, be sure to ask to speak to the chef, who can fill you in on what can be done to accommodate you and be sure that you don't get contaminated food. Disney is great about that anywhere they are able to (almost everywhere except food trucks or small stalls), and Trail's End is no exception. It's a very good deal for quick-service meals on your dining plan here for P&J's Southern Takeout, but hit-or-miss on the freshness since they do have a buffet and BBQ is slow-cooking goodness. You can get the refillable drink mugs here and fill up all week at the resorts (NOT the theme parks though, of course). read more

The buffet style offered more food options like fresh fruit, fish, fried chicken, baked potatoes, pizza, Mac and cheese, an ice cream bar, a variety of desserts, etc. With a family, you could come here everyday and eat something different from the buffet. Everyone had a lot of choices to pick from. The meal they serve now is family style. It is good but not 5 star quality. You are served corn bread, salad, the main course and dessert. The staff was excellent and very kind and very attentive. We had breakfast reservations. But the food was way over salted and mediocre at best. The price is absurd for what you get and the quality of the food. Honestly the joke is on us for even thinking it would be decent but wanted to give it a try. So... fully honest.. we accidentally booked this place. Thought we were going to Fort Wilderness Lodge and didn't realize this was at the campgrounds. It was a nice surprise. The service was good and so was the food. Only complaint in food I could make was some of the brisket was dry... but others had that nice fatty juiciness to it and were my favorite part of the meal. A very casual "sit down" meal location. At the time we went it was one of the cheaper ones though. Will definitely go again if nothing else for their cornbread and dessert. The s'more parfait was right on point. They hit that s'more flavor perfectly. Not a lot else to do at the campgrounds while waiting for your reservation is the main downside of this location I'd say. There is a small playground out front for the kids. But other than sitting under the overhang or walking along the small beach or bike paths, rather sparse. It is a campsite afterall... read more

We did mobile order the night of our arrival at the fort. It was so simple and we got our food fast and took it back to our camper. It was kind of hard to find the mobile order pickup station. We got the family pack of ribs and chicken for the four of us. It was plenty of food and we even had enough for leftovers another night. The ribs were tender and flavorful the chicken was crispy and juicy. The mashed potatoes could have used some more gravy but they were good. The mac and cheese was good but the coleslaw lacked flavor. The cornbread was just the right of amount of sweetness. I was too full to eat the strawberry shortcake but ate it a few days later and really enjoyed it. read more
