Amazing! I grew up in NY w/ great sub shops and for several years we have been looking for one to no avail.. until my husband found this and asked me to bring home subs from here. The menu was simple but offers all you could want on a sub. The Italian always a go to but this was different and the bread was good (I think they make it there) . And they toast them.. not all places offer that.. but anyway the place is tiny and in a weird spot but will become a regular there! Thank you! read more

It is strictly to go at the Train Stop Deli-- no dining in. But their deli sandwiches are out of this world! They are huge & come designed to your specifications. I had the Irish Italian for my first trip here & it reminded me of one of my all time favorite subs from Dagwood's in Bloomington. I think the creamy Italian dressing really adds a sweet savory kick to the whole sandwich. Meats are sliced fresh for your sandwich when you order. I think the Hawaiian Sweet are the ultimate bun selection for a sub, and the buns at Train Stop are pillowy fresh. Don't expect much for decor or ambience-- this place is very small & basic with just a window to order from. But the subs that come out of that window are delicious. read more

Delicious I eat lunch there daily and they are back open. The sweet bread is phenomenal and the take home pizza's are great as well. So I work within a mile (or so) of this place. I had never been (as I work through my meals at work) until I had the opportunity to clock out for dinner. I drove around and finally decided to use Yelp to help. I was not disappointed. Definitely not the largest place, but they have an excellent selection of meats, cheeses, and condiments for sub sandwiches. Which you can get made fresh to go. U The size of them is larger than I anticipated. The bread is significantly better than Subway. And even though I am a massive fan of Jimmy John's (or rather was in St. Louis as they won't deliver to me here), Trainstop left me happier as I was glad to have supported a local business. Definitely give this a chance if you're in Anderson. Better than fast food. Better than sandwich place alternatives around. And of note? They don't take credit cards. Bring your cash. read more

I loved this little place. The food was good, the price was awesome, and the owner was fantastic. It's a tiny hut downtown Anderson with limited meats and cheeses but everything's the same price! Doesn't matter. Their subs are great even if you have to wait a few minutes. Basically you go and create a sandwich any way you want it and it cost the same as any other creation. I was at the Trainstop Deli today, and let me tell you, it was THE best sub sandwich I've ever had. It beats any commercial sub place by a mile and a half. The staff is all family and the owner has been taking individual orders since the place opened. He's friendly, helpful, and on a first name personal basis with the majority of his customers. He makes you feel welcome from the moment you come in until the moment you leave and, goes above and beyond for everyone he meets. It's a true hole in the wall while maintaining a whole package experience. Great customer service, AMAZING food, and easily the best place to get a quick bite in Anderson, and easily worth the ten mile drive if you aren't in Anderson. This is an absolute hidden gem in Anderson. They offer so much more than any other sandwich chain! You get to check off what you want on your sandwich on a paper, so you know exactly what options they have. The process is very organized, which is good because they have soooo many options! I LOVE that they offer capicola as a choice for sandwich meat, because almost no one else has that! The one drawback is that Trainstop is TINY inside. Amazing! Had 1/2 pound of pastrami on a sweet bun with provolone cheese, spinach, tomato, pickles and Dijon mustard. It was a huge sandwich and I could have loaded it up with even more meat, cheese and veggies if I wanted too. All for $6.99, that's a deal! Usually it takes a whole subway sub to get me full, I split this with my wife and it was just right. I have lived around Anderson for about 4 years. Up until about a year ago, I could not find a good place for a sub & salad. Then, I found the TrainStop Deli. I usually either stop by while I am at work or bring it home for the family. My wife and daughter love the salads. I usually get a 6 inch sub. Every time the order is perfectly made. Waiting room for carry out only, no dining on the premises. Cash or EBT payments only accepted, and your order is kept on file if you're a regular! Generally friendly and helpful staff, parking is a little dicey. Handicap access is limited by high deck-style stairs leading to a tough-to-open single door on a small porch. You'll probably have to grab a seat on their custom bench as it's usually busy, so give yourself 10-15 minutes to wait. It's well worth it! Find things like capicola ham, dill havarti cheese, bacon cheddar cheese, sweet pickles, chipotle sauce, 4 kinds of mustard, and the best of all the sweet roll (add 50 cents). For $3.99/half or $6.99/whole, you won't get a better deal anywhere else. In my experience, a half here is as much as a whole Subway sub especially if you get the sweet roll which is a little larger. read more
