Came here after my niece's graduation at Ball State. We weren't sure about what to get on the menu until one of the staff members told me about their secret menu. The staple of this menu is the "Muncie Salad". Legend says it was invented by a group of maverick sandwich artists at the Ball State Subway. They even let us include it in the Pick Two menu and also got a baked potato. Anyways, the romaine was gorgeous, the tomatoes succulent and the croutons as brown as the tan you get on the Jersey shore after the 4th of July. Their main specialty is probably their iced tea, which is pretty good and can be ordered with all sorts of flavors and/or sweetened... though I prefer it just plain. The dining area is awesome, and the new video menu is cool because it goes through and shows pictures of each item on the menu. I wanted to try something different so I ordered the Four Cheese Chili Pasta. Plain, Cold, and salad bar near frozen shredded cheese. If I were craving chili, I'd go somewhere else. My girlfriend ordered her usual Spud with cheese. "Some bites are good and others are ewwww". In the picture you can kinda see the excessively burnt potato skin. I used to love this place. However the last 2 times I've went have been awful. I got takeout both times. The 1st time I got Mac n cheese with my meal and there was literally only one bite in the container. The 2nd time I found at least 6 human hairs in my sandwhich. It was our first time trying McAllisters. They just built a new restaurant here and we were all really hungry after church. There was a long line at the door just to place our order at the registers. The wait didn't take longer than 10 minutes and the staff were very friendly when we placed our order. The food was really good and everyone enjoyed what they had ordered. I'm always on the lookout for a good Reuben and this one didn't disappoint. The soup was very flavorful. It wasn't watered down or dried out, which always seems to happen everywhere else I go. I only gave it a 4 star because of the portion size in relation to the price. It's reasonably priced if you're used to eating at Panera Bread. I left just a bit less full than I had hoped. Overall, great deli with all the trimmings. I would definitely recommend to others. read more

Sunday, high noon, Father's Day. Yes, it was busy. Line to the door had me concerned, shouldn't have been. It went quickly due to 4 registers open. Love the extra registers here! Our party of 3 had 2 familiar with McAlisters at other locations, and 1 newbie [Father's Day - Hey, he requested!] but all first timers here. I mentioned that my Pops has been ranking this place high in his book and making regular visits and he really liked the stuffed potatoes. That had us all thinking on that - and we all ordered versions of the spud - grilled chicken, the mixup (think supreme meat), and a cheese w/ ranch dressing (which I then added garlic tabasco sauce to make buffalo style - my own little hack) - coupled with carrot cakes all around. The baked potatoes were very good and as expected. The standout though was the carrot cake (which THANKFULLY they no longer serve on unappetizing little black plates). We ordered the carrot cakes at the same time we ordered the spuds letting them come closer to room temp. AWESOME, excellent carrot cake - killer bang for the buck on this dessert. Wanted a cup of joe to go with it - but can you go to McAlister's and NOT get the besst sweet tea north of the Mason-Dixon line? I wish they had the Tea Bar in all of the McAlister's. This one of my favorite restaurants. I have ordered a spud max, grill Chipotle chicken, memphian, McAlister's club, potato salad, sweet tea, and strawberry sweet tea. A spud max is two big bake potatoes with green onions, black olives, turkey, ham, and bacon. Grill chipotle chicken is chicken and peach chipotle that is grilled. The Memphis has tomatoes, lettuce, brown mustard, cheese, roast beef, ham, and turkey on white French bread. McAlister's club has tomatoes, lettuce, honey mustard, bacon, ham and turkey. I was impressed. Ordered a birthday meal, curbside pickup for my wife, daughter and me. Not only was it ready when I asked for it to be ready, the service was outstanding. An employee by the name of Megan delivered directly to truck. And once she realized it was a birthday meal for my wife, she went the extra step when I requested an additional tea as my wife loves it. Certainly a great meal made better by a person that treated the customer with respect and a joyful spirit. The Spuds stuffed with Roast Beef were gigantic as was the Chef Salad. The Potato could use a little more with ti like some natural beef juice or perhaps some gravy. I had never been to McAlister's before, so I gave it a go with a friend. It was Friday night, so it was extremely busy. We have to wait to order for a bit at the front, but no big deal. I got the McAlister's club with a cup of crab and chowder soup. The sandwich was nothing to write home about. It was your typical club, cut diagonally into fourths. Cold meats, bacon, cheese, veggies, and condiments. The soup was decent, too. Again, nothing amazing but overall, a nicer meal than going to a fast food restaurant and less expensive than going to a traditional sit-down, table service restaurant. The only place I can compare it to is Panera Bread, except this place serves more food rather than pastries. I'd be tempted to try a hot sandwich next time. read more
