The Pretzel Grilled Cheese is a nice idea, but it's a pretzel shaped breadstick. It doesn't have the crust and salt that a real pretzel has. Rizotto balls? Calamari? Pot Stickers? Gyro? Tacos? Cheesesteak? Not very German. The Schnitzel wasn't sauced (no Jager or Rahm sauce), it was dry and overcooked. The edges were burned. It's supposed to come with mashed potatoes but instead had fried potato chunks which, frankly, was the best part of either my or my wife's dinners. We came here on a Thursday for a late lunch. I do not recommend the burger melt. Despite it having melted cheese and caramelized onions, it had no taste. I thought beef had a naturally salty taste but there was nothing. The buffalo chicken sandwich was decent. I think the buffalo sauce and Cole slaw saved it because the chicken didn't have much of a taste either. I ordered fries originally but they delivered potatoes to me. The server that delivered the food quickly put in an order for fries to fix the first servers error and I'm glad he did. The fries saved the meal. They were cooked perfectly and hot. I'd come back here for the fries for sure. After we got our food, the servers just forgot about us and another customer that had been there for about the same amount of time that we had. We were in the restaurant another 15 minutes trying to get the attention of a server to come give us our check. The original server never came back even though we could see him at a register near the kitchen. Several friends in a meetup group met here for lunch on a random Tuesday. We had some drinks and chatted, and then ordered lunch. The waitress was great about bringing us everything we needed. I ordered the salmon filet on greens with sweet potato cakes. The salmon was great - perfectly cooked, and the greens seemed fresh, but the whole dish was doused in a sweet maple syrup sauce, which rendered the sweet potato cakes so soaked that I couldn't choke them down. I left most of the greens as well, since the maple syrup didn't really go with a salad. The fish was fine, as I could salt it a bit and have serve as a foil to the sauce. The website directs viewers to use Tap Hunters, but the waiter explained that it wasn't the most up-to-date. This should be corrected on the website. Wait until you arrive to scan the beer menu QR code before making decisions on your brews. Overall, a good experience. I chose the lighter wheat brew (I don't recall the name). I did enjoy the beer and I'm not a huge fan of beers. The Moroccan lamb meatballs were delicious to me. I just always leave sad the food doesn't hit better lol. So mixed feelings, which leads me to a solid 3/5. Great for groups to meet up for drinks and try a large selection of beers. My wife and I stopped here about 9pm on a Friday evening while visiting the area. We were staying at a hotel nearby and thought we would stop in for a beer and possibly grab some food. Their outdoor seating looked inviting and is placed throughout the sidewalk area in front. We decided to step inside and sit at the bar so we could get a better look at their many beers on tap. Our entire experience was not impressive. First, we took a seat at the bar and the young man working seemed somewhat put out and slid one of the cards on the bar top which had the QR codes for both the beers on tap and also their food menu. I decided on one of the IPA's (they have 52 beers on tap) and we also ordered a pretzel sandwich to share. He brought my beer by and it wasn't as hoppy and bitter as I prefer, which is not their fault. When our pretzel sandwich arrived it did not look good at all. It honestly looked like a frozen pretzel that had been cut in half, had sliced cheese inside along with a strip or two of bacon and put into a microwave,, it was also not at all salted. Over time it became very chewy like it had definitely been microwaved. It had absolutely no flavor and was not good. The bacon was also very undercooked. It was edible and I ate it because I was hungry while my wife had one bite and decided not to continue eating it. In all honesty if our server would have been more engaged we would have said something about how gross it was but since he never came to check on us or even make eye contact as he passed by us when helping other customers we opted to just pay our tab and move on. Needless to say we were not impressed and definitely won't be back. It seems unfortunate, we had much higher expectations. They are basically potato wedges that are deep fried and finished in the oven, providing a nice crispy exterior and a soft and moist interior. They were really good. The portion size was very generous and I was full at the end of the meal. The place was full, so the noise level was a bit elevated along with the many TVs. We ordered three different beer flights of six, and their sample sizes were very generous compared to breweries in Los Angeles. The weather was hot, inside was cool with icy cold beers. This place turned out to be the perfect spot for a summer evening dinner. I saw many young people and family groups so vibe was pretty chill. Our server was Chris, who was very energetic and smart. Been eyeing Brier Creek Beer Garden since I moved over here and finally decided to stop in. At first I sat at a middle high top table, but there was no air circulation so I moved to the bar. However, before I moved to the bar I was passed by several servers and seen by a couple of other staff members and ignored. Finally the bartender brought me a water and let me know he would be back to take my order. I ordered a local cherry lime seltzer, and the bartender told me it was the last one. And you could tell it was as it tasted like it may have somehow gotten mixed up or connected to another tap? It tasted straight like beer. Looked like a seltzer but tasted like beer. There was no way I could drink it, so I swapped it out for a half pint of the gingers' revenge ginger beer, which was super refreshing. For my second, I got a half pint of sour beer by ass clown. It was okay as well--a little warm, but okay. Overall, I wouldn't return. The service was lackluster and not super friendly. The shopping center has a ton of restaurants and stores easily walkable including this and a total wine (for those beer hunters). They certainly had enough beers on tap to be a beer garden! There were quite a few local options and some pretty unique ones that aren't always easily found...especially on tap. I went on a week night for dinner and had a spot at the bar immediately. There was some dining room and outdoor seating as well and the whole operation was pleasantly organized for dinner time. For the food I tried a couple apps. The wings were really good. I appreciated the flavor and size. They were seasoned well and the baked option seemed less heavy. I also tried a "bier rock," which is basically a meat pie. It was good, but a little dry for my taste. Overall quick and very friendly service at the bar. Extensive beer list. Fair prices and good food in a cool area. My wife and I have lived in Durham for six months and this is the absolute worst restaurant we've attended. The food quality is awful and overpriced. When I explained to the waitress that our fries were stale, she just shrugged it off. From the salad to the appetizers the entrées nothing was good. I really enjoy the beer garden. I've been about 3 times now and the selection of beers varied enough to let me find something that I am in the mood for wether that is hitting an old favorite or trying something interesting. Since it's marzen season (woot!) they had a bunch of Octoberfest beers on tap. I rolled the dice on the moroccan meatball app this time. I considered it a gamble since I consider their strength to be German style pub food and it's usually a good idea to lean into a restaurant's focus if you want a good meal. But I know they do the potato, pretzel, brat stuff well so I was willing to branch out. The meatball were great! I can't speak to authenticity but they were tender and delicious. Spiced similar to how a Cincinnati chili would be and served with toasted pita points that were not dried out. I would have eaten the sauce with a spoon once the meatballs where done if my burger hadn't arrived right on time. Oh, I got the burger melt (this is not a patty melt, but more like just a nicely melty cheeseburger) ordered medium and it was medium. Perfect. Our server was just right. Stopping by to check on us but not being pushy. I had met a friend there and she asked if it was separate checks. When we said yes, she automatically split the app 50/50 on our bills since she noticed that we split it. Overall, the execution was exactly what I would hope for.
