Just found out about Tramonte's today when a neighbor recommended the boiled crawfish from here. Luckily I called ahead as they sell out before their closing time at 6. We chose the Tuesday special of $3.99 per lbs. of boiled crawfish of 10 lbs or more. Our family of 4 devoured it! Sadly they had already sold out of the corn and potatoes, so next time we will call a day or so before. We had wanted to try the hamburger too but found out the kitchen closes at 3 for Poboy's, burgers, etc., so definitely plan ahead! The menu looks simple but loaded with great choices. Also, the alcohol selection here and frozen prepped meals, meats, and seafoods is fantastic. Not huge on the inside as far as the customer area) but still loaded with goodies. Grew up in Baton Rouge and found out today that Tramonte's has been around for 21 years, so where have I been?! We will absolutely be back and definite want to hit up their yummy lunch plates. The prices are great and no doubt all the food will be too. Just a few tables to dine in on the inside but really all you need for a casual place like this. May even have to order and eat my boiled crawfish there next time, so it'll be hot and fresh instead of driving home with it. Great seafood! Great specials! Great service! Tramonte's has so much to offer-hot lunches, burgers, meat market, fresh seafood, boiled seafood, prepared meals and sides, some liquors, and meat processing! They have specials such as the daily lunch specials, the Wednesday burger special for $6.99, and seasonal seafood specials! There's even a bourbon raffle right now! We just ordered the Friday crab specials which is 1/2 dozen boiled crabs and 1 pound of shrimp for $19.99-what?!! So good, we got two and for $5 more you can get some potatoes and corn. We called Friday morning and reserved ours then picked it up for supper that night. Y'all! The very best shrimp I've had in a very long time, and I eat a lot of shrimp! I've been taking wild game to this place for four years now. The customer service when you drop off and pick up the meat is terrible. They are so rude. I've dealt with several different people and they all have the same poor attitude. It's the culture there apparently. I was in town for a business trip and the first time I came here I had ordered the fried oyster poboy and it was so filling and super delicious ! So I had to come back for another lunch and wasn't as hungry so I ordered the kids meal chicken strips and the flavor of the batter and the moist-ness of the strips were on point ! I called them two days before Christmas and asked if they had Wagyu beef. They told me only had it in New York Strip. I told them it was fine, and we discussed how much I would need. I gave my name and number and they told me I could pick it up on the morning of December 24th. I showed up on December 24th and they couldn't find my name on their list. Ah yes, the list. It was a bunch of scribble on a legal pad. The guy then asked me what I had ordered. I told him, and he said that they hadn't had Wagyu beef for 2 weeks. Way to ruin Christmas guys. Since they don't have any sort of structured way to track orders, there is no doubt in my mind that they had it when I called, but then sold out. Fortunately I was able to find it at Alexanders. They had a variety of beautiful Wagyu. The guy in front of me was buying some bottles of expensive Whiskey. He paid a fortune. I guess he doesn't know about The Wine Store, which has the exact same stuff at a much lower price. Tramonte's has signs on their trucks saying that good beef is expensive. They should say that good beef is good, they just don't have it. No real system for tracking orders, and lying employees. If I could select zero stars, I would. This is the first review I've ever written. This visit was so disappointing I felt compelled to write this to save somebody else the disappointment. I was the only customer in the place at 12:30pm, that concerned me, seeing that they only serve food for lunch. I now understand why. This is what a shrimp poboy looks like with a $2 upgrade from fries to onion rings - total of $16. It looks better than it tastes, if that tells you anything. I've never seen the shrimp/protein put on the bottom of a poboy, hmmm. The shrimp had a very strong unpleasant flavor, I've had much better at Popeyes for $4. Prices for everything in the fresh meat case isn't marked, so I had to ask what the price was for each one. It appears that they just don't care and they've checked out. read more

I wish i found this place sooner. I just uploaded some photos, one being of the smoke house they have out back where rows of delicious sausage is being smoked but starting with that is getting ahead of myself. I first walk into this place and i am surprised at how large and clean it is and the delicious smell of some food being smoked and grilled. The butcher display is super clean, well maintained, and contains about 20 different selections of meat from pork and beef ribs to raw sausage and cajun spiced marinated meat. There is table area that has about 7-8 tables that can seat 4-6 people per and a bar table platform with stools that face outside to the street. that can seat a good 15 people. There are big freezers both to the left and right filled with frozen fish, shrimp, various seafood, premade meals in aluminum containers such as lasgna and stuffed bellpeppers. They seem to have everything you would ever want to serve a party or to have a backyard BBQ. I guess out here it would be a tailgate. They serve beer as evidenced by the beer selection posted on the wall and the taps running from the far right wall. They have a one page menu with South Louisiana Food and i uploaded a picture of it. I had the fried Fish and Shrimp plate with a side order of their smoked Sausage. Did the Cajuns invent frying fish or shrimp in America cus it seems like every place out here can fry up anything and have it taste great. I mean look at Popeyes Chicken, its almost like Louisiana can patent frying. The real stand out was that smoked sausage. Its hard to describe the goodness of it, but as i unwrapped it to show to my coworker he exclaimed "Wow that smells delicious, and it looks like they put a glaze on it". Well it tasted delicious i can tell you that and i am not sure if they did glaze it. O and that fried bread is delicious too. I cant wait to try the Italian food there too because as i walked in there were 8 large aluminum trays filled with fresh lasagna ready to be shipped out for a catering event and they smelled soooooooooooooooo good. read more

Tramonte's combines the high quality specialty butcher and Cajun grocery with a small eatery that serves a daily special, poboys, seafood, barbecue, and burgers - and does all of this successfully. On the butcher side of the business - I've found them easy to work with and willing to accommodate special requests and unusual cuts. Their prices are in line with Chris's Specialty Meats, if not a little lower for similar offerings of equal or better quality. Though they sell seafood, I've not bought any there, but it's looked more than passable. The grocery selection is limited, but focused mostly on the things you really need for a successful seafood boil, fry, or for barbecue or grilling. They also carry a number of South Louisiana products. All in all, it's worth stopping in to see what's available, especially if you're a fan of places like Chris's. The restaurant side of things is reasonably priced, or good quality, and really quite tasty. Then again, I'm a sucker for a good fried oyster poboy - and they got mine just right. I've also had their barbecue chicken - which was moist, well coated with sauce, and nicely marinated - though the sides that day were nothing amazing; and, I've had their cheeseburger which was okay, but maybe a little to thin and greasy for me. My brother really seemed to enjoy it though. Recently, I heard a nasty rumor they were asking the city to remove twenty year old trees in the entrance to Parkview Oaks to make their sign a bit more visible. As far as I know it never came to pass - but if it ever did I'd drop this review to one star in a heartbeat for being a bad neighbor. I'll ax this bit of my review if it turns out they got shot down or figured out another way to promote their business. read more

Visited here for the first time in a few years ---had the hamburger last time and got the hamburger this time---both times they were seasoned very well and for me, spicy enough that I had beads of sweat here and there but my answer is that I approve! Tramontes isn't a meat/seafood market in case you wanted to buy a specialty meat for later. Also has a beer selection so it is 1 stop shopping. Inside, there are 10-12 tables for seating of 30-40 people, the staff was friendly and service was quick. Lastly they have day specials. Today's--wednesday is lasagna but u terwst fly enough when we were there ordering shortly before noon they had just served their last special---I will assume this mis s testament to their popularity!! read more

I went for lunch today and was told to get the prime rib poboy. It did not disappoint. The prime rib was seasoned so well, and it was sliced thin enough to eat easily, but not super thin. The fries were really good too. They had a lot of other stuff on the menu I wanted to try, and the staff was great. read more

Friend recommended this place to me. I tried to like it, I really did, but each time I leave in either disappointment or anger. I'm done with this place. I've heard their sausages are great. I've tried both the cajun sausage and the smoked sausage links. Both were charred beyond recognition and thus dry as the sahara. They also cut it down the midde the long way. That is a terrible thing to do to a sausage link as whatever moisture and fat gets lost in the cooking process. Did I mention they were burnt to a crisp? Do NOT order the hot roast beef poboy. Not only was the roast beef not hot (or even warm for that matter), but it was so chewy that parts of it could not be broken down by teeth. I literally yanked and yanked on parts of the meat and could not further break down the protein. I would accuse them of using crappy Manda roast beef but it's obviously an even lesser brand. Not to mention who the hell puts mustard on a hot roast beef poboy? Just absolutely terrible. Skip the chicken fried steak special on Mondays unless you like eating tough chewy beef battered with fish fry. The only half decent item I've tried was the choice ribeye poboy, and that's why they got the one star. Even though the flavor is good, they still manage to over cook the meat each and every time. It's a choice ribeye.. it can be made a little raw, like a nice medium rare, but instead comes well done. Not good enough for me to ever go back. read more

The Wagyu ribeyes... I love steak!! I usually get some from Sams, Costco, etc., I was reluctant to spend the cash for a wagyu ribeye, but wanted to try it. I followed my usual steak cooking method to see if I could tell a difference, (this 1 wagyu cost the same as my usual 4). it was without a doubt the best steak I have EVER had in my life. This place overall is great, however, what is more unappetizing is the fact that during a pandemic they are not wearing gloves or face masks to prepare and serve food. Customers were eating inside and the tables WERE NOT 6 ft apart as mandated by the governor. Everything was going on like no pandemic was happening. Not only do they have good meat, they have the largest, tastiest crawfish in the city. I live by Whole Foods so it's a long trip to go there but well worth it. I asked them one time do they always sell select crawfish and their answer was sir these are not select but the same crawfish they sell everyday! Well worth the drive. My son ok ordered some select crawfish last Friday (I was paying) and picked them up on time. 195 for 2 sacks of bugs so I felt I paid very well for them. First bag were great size wise and quality. 2nd bag were just normal, very mixed and certainly not select. I could and maybe should have called the next day or 2 to lodge a complaint but you know how those go - you might get a reasonable person or someone who wants to tell you you're trying to get over on them. Anyhow the boil went well despite the less than acceptable 2nd bag and I didn't feel like, nor should I have to, deal with this screw up on their part so I'm giving them a very generous, unearned 3 stars because maybe it was an honest mistake. read more

Got the monday plate lunch. Huge portion of chicken fried steak but a lot of it was breading. The smothered corn was more like cream corn, which i am not a fan of, and the salad tasted old (had a few pieces of brown lettuce in it). The gravy was thin and not enough for that big piece. My review is based on venison I had processed by Tramonte's. I dropped off four does and had the majority made into breakfast sausage and smoke sausage. The problem is the ratio of pork to venison is WAY off! I eat venison because it's lean and much better for you than most other red meat. The amount of pork mixed into these sausages takes all the health out of the venison. If I wanted this amount of pork, I'd buy sausage at the store. If you value the game you kill, find another processor. read more

Have to buy the wagyu steaks they are worth every penny you spend on them. It may sound crazy to spend $80 on two steaks but it is worth it. I would suggest doing a reverse sear on your steaks they will pretty much melt in your mouth. Don't bother going to Ruth Chris steak house buy one of these and you will be better off. It's not that this place doesn't have potential and I will give it another shot but I think I just had a bad experience. I went just looking for dinner to go. After looking at the menu I was ready to order but the problem was nobody would acknowledge me and I was 1 of 2 customers in the building. I stood waiting for literally 10 minutes because after a certain point it became a game to see how long it would take. There were 3 guys prepping food and never looked up once. I finally asked for someone to help me. Once I got home to eat my shrimp poboy I was disappointed again because I felt like I was just eating bread because there was barely any shrimp. This is my go to place for picking up meat to cook at home. They are on the expensive side but you really get what you pay for! The best steaks I have every cooked are from here,and you can even have them season it for you(recommended) They also have a lot of frozen house made food that you just have to heat up which are great for those days you get home late. I went to Tramonte's based on a friend's recommendation for their hamburger. I read the online reviews first so I was apprehensive about what I was going to experience. But, hey!!! We are talking getting a burger here! I walked in to find all the tables full and a few people waiting at the counter to order. The guys behind the counter were busy taking care of orders so I was prepared to wait. After only a minute one of them asked for my order. I chatted with him as I ordered. He was friendly and helpful. Hmmm... I thought they were supposed to be just a bunch of a**holes??? My burger was grilled-to-order as I stood there watching. In a short while, it was ready and I sat down to a perfectly cooked (just like I WANTED it) awesome burger. BIG, tasty and juicy! But... Be forewarned! It is a "meatloaf" burger - full of seasonings. Delicious but not a standard burger. The burger was awesome. The service was quick and friendly. The price was fantastic! I WILL be back! read more

They made One of the most juiciest and best tasting hamburgers I ever had! The burger was very moist and loaded with lots of flavor. We were having a few people over at the house and wanted to throw some fresh meat on the grill. We decided to go to Tramonte's and it was a great decision. I purchased 10 pounds of boiled crawfish on Good Friday ($4.49 per pound) and when I got home I only had 8 pounds in the bag. Gave them the benefit of the doubt, being busy due to holiday, and ordered another 10 pounds the following Wednesday ($3.99 per pound). And yes, when I got home I only had 8 pounds. I called to complain about this and was given an apology for this happening. No offers to reimburse or compensate in any way, so I suggested they buy a new scale and retrain their employees on "how to weigh crawfish" and "what 10 pounds looks like on a scale". After calculating an almost $20.00 loss, I can say without any doubt, I will NOT be buying my crawfish from this establishment EVER. read more
