    *REDNEXICAN (steak)

My first visit was today for lunch and the experience was great. Friendly staff who were very helpful, excellent food and good prices. I went with the Rednexican steak bowl. The steak was cooked perfectly tender and the bowl was filled with black beans, lettuce, jalapeños, grilled onions and peppers on top of rice. The entree comes with chips and salsa. You will not leave hungry. Highly recommend.

Trampled by Tacos took the space on Hwy. 280 that was occupied previously by Little Donkey. I was expecting something similar when we decided to try it, which was probably unfair to them. It's a TOTALLY different concept. It's fast-casual Mexican food. You basically can build your own bowl, taco or burrito or choose from a variety of tacos on the menu. Stand in line, order at the register, make yourself a drink, and find a seat. It's basically a glorified Chipotle, just WAY more expensive. Our bill at Chipotle is usually around $50 for my kids and me. At Trampled By Tacos, with an 18% tip (for what?) the bill was $90! Were our tacos elevated enough to justify almost double the price of Chipotle? In a word: no. Steak tacos with peppers and onions were funky and the peppers were bitter (not fresh), the mahi taco was dry (okay, the fish was dry- it was smothered in sauce and cheese to make up for the fish), and the chicken in my daughter's build-your-own bowl was dry and grainy. The texture was horrible it was so overcooked.

Went to Trampled Tacos for their happy hour which is M-F between 4-6 PM. They offer $2 off house margaritas, well drinks, drafts, and wine. I went with the house margarita. It was decent--not amazing, but good for the price. My friend and I shared the steak quesadilla and it was really tasty. 9/10 [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat out on their patio area, which had a chill vibe and low music playing in the background.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Only thing I'd change is the playlist. I wish the music had a bit more variety.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You have to go to the bar or register to place your order, and the bar only had one person working. Because of that, service was a little delayed.

I love this place! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has a great menu, speedy service, large portions, and is super clean[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I've only been here a couple of times but need to make it a point to come more because both trips have had me leaving very impressed. I got a build your own burrito with chicken, queso, black beans, rice, grilled onions, and cilantro ranch dressing and my husband got three tacos: John the Baptist, Strong Bull, and Truckin. We felt like everything was delicious and reasonably priced. 10/10 recommend!

I really like trampled by tacos and they have a lot of different options. I got the tacos and I got a few different drinks and they were pretty tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nothing spectacular or out of this world but a really nice spot to stop in if you're down 280.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Very flavorful food and strong drinks. The owners and the employees are also very very nice.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]TBT is one of my fav places sit on the patio for Happy Hour!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] $2 off house margaritas is always a winner for me. And the margs are GOOD!!! I've never been disappointed with food or the service! I love how you can build your own quesadillas, taco, nacho or bowl! If you get the nachos, expect a BIG portion! Definitely try them out!

Who doesn't love a taco!? I visited this spot for a book club meeting. I reviewed the menu prior to arriving and like the options of tacos available. I decided to go with chicken and steak... I forgot the cute name they had for it. The food came out quick and was good and fresh. It also comes with chips and salsa/cheese dip. I was told the margaritas were good as well but I didn't try them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The environment is very cute and comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Cute new taco spot! I stopped in for a quick lunch- I was greeted upon entering to be given the rundown. Menus are available to order for takeout or dining in. There are many servers available to bring the food to you once prepared. Full service option available at the bar.. The bar wraps around to the patio area of to provide an open concept. I sat at bar. Service was great. Had the Barbacoa taco and shrimp taco with a skinny margarita... all were delicious. Will plan to visit again.

Looking for a quick taco fix & I was in the area and decided to give them a go. Order at the counter, nice open atmosphere, music was low, good for conversation. First disappointment, Only soft tacos. Ok I'll take one beef and one chicken. Second disappointment, only a single tortilla. As usual it falls half way through. I don't mind pickled jalapeño's but I order beef, had pick them off. Then it had no flavor. The chicken had sauce on top that was ?? Pulled chicken was tough, I kind of liked the black beens addition but when things fell apart another mess. Good thing the dish came with some tortilla chips, small cup of salsa and one of queso. Queso was good, salsa also the chip were of no use scoping up tacos. Most broke, even with queso. Somewhat friendly. One and done.

Very similar to Taco Mama maybe just a bit smaller menu. They have build your own burritos & bowls as well as some preselected dishes to choose from. Both options come with chips & salsa on the side. I did the build your own bowl and you can choose up to 8 free toppings. I really liked the southwest flavor of the chicken. You can get a sauce on it so I got cilantro ranch on the side. Glad I got on side because I didn't care for it but the bowl with meat + veggies + rice was really good. I put it right on the level of Taco Mama.

In fact, I'm getting warm feelings right now just thinking about my time here. Their vegan option is a nopal taco (tender, marinated cactus). It's excellent, but what makes it next level is that SALSA BAR with the best salsas I've ever had. It reminds me of taquerias in California. I drowned my taco in all of the sauces. In fact, I could probably be happy eating tortillas and salsa here. Because, yes, the tortillas are that delicious. As is that guac. Again, some of the best I've ever had, gimmicky tableside guac included (never felt that was such a great thing anyway). Here, you get a generous portion of the creamiest quality guac you can imagine. I can't report on the margaritas other than to say they look gorgeous. The wine pours are also generous and the prosecco is damn good.

Also the guacamole, the cheese dip and the tacos. They do have a full bar and can do frozen drinks. I loved that you can add your own toppings to your tacos. The tacos come with just meat. You can add onions, limes, cilantro and pickled onions and pickled jalapeños as well as sauce. They had a Verde sauce as well as regular salsa, and a Salsa Borachja sauce with onion, garlic and Mexican beer. It was spicy and delicious. They have plenty of counter seating, a few tables inside and several tables outside. This is a tapas bar more than a testaurant.

Where do I begin?…read more First of all, the restaurant is very colorfully decorated, which instantly brightens the mood. We were able to seat ourselves, and immediately afterwards the waitress brought complimentary salsa and chips as she took our drink and food order. The salsa and chips were very good. The chips were crisp and freshly made and the salsa had just the right amount of kick to it. It was sweet and unique and I could see myself ordering it as a to-go order. For our entrees, I ordered 3 street tacos and cheese dip. My guy ordered the steak fajita plate. After a short wait, our food arrived, hot and fresh off the grill. I wasn't a fan of the pollo taco. It was bland and lacked any type of flavor. However, the campechano and chorizo versions were much better. The cheese dip stayed watered down even after it cooled but had a good flavor to it. I looked up to see my guy reaching for the salt shaker several times. I tasted a small serving of his steak. Yall..,.I kid you not. That steak had no type of seasoning-no salt, no pepper, no nothing had been sprinkled on it. To sum it up...it was overcooked and under seasoned. He kept trying to doctor the dish up by adding salt and pepper but after a while stopped because that should've been done in the cooking of the dish. He only ate a 1/3 of his dish. Upon paying the check, he attempted to share his disappointment with the waitress, who now all of a sudden, doesn't understand English. Keep in mind, we had been communicating with her just fine throughout our time there. Needless to say, we will not be returning to the restaurant location anytime soon. I've visited the truck before and will return there.

I also learned they've made the exciting move from being a food truck to their own brick-and-mortar location. Congratulations on such a wonderful milestone! I ordered the quesabirria tacos with a side of chips (the chips don't come with the meal). The tacos are served with consommé and a side of refried black beans. Everything was DELICIOUS! The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. I'd give the quesabirria a 9.7/10. The only thing that would have made it even better for me would have been a little crispy cheese crunch. The salsa, which I had to request, was a bit spicier than I prefer. But then again, my son recently informed me that I'm a spice wimp... or something to that effect. So take that review for what it's worth! Not only was the food fantastic, but the service was friendly and FAST. The atmosphere is laid back and welcoming, and they even have a patio if you enjoy outdoor dining. Congratulations again on your new location! I'll definitely be back.

This time, however, I decided to try the quesabirrias, and unfortunately, they were disappointing. I also ordered a horchata, which I didn't think was very good. The biggest area that needs improvement is the customer service. I would describe it as average at best, and in some ways, closer to poor. I understand that no one is obligated to greet customers or wish them a good day, but when you're paying for a meal--especially at a place that isn't exactly cheap--you at least expect to be treated with kindness. During my visit, no one greeted me when I walked in or when they came to take my order, and overall the staff didn't seem very welcoming or attentive. While I was waiting for my food, I asked if I could get a little more horchata. The employee simply replied, "No, you have to buy another one." I responded, "No, that's okay." Honestly, if the horchata had been really good, I would have gladly paid for another one. It wasn't so much about having to buy a second drink--it was more about the way the situation was handled. Small interactions like that can make a big difference in how customers feel. I truly believe this restaurant has a lot of potential. If they improved their customer service and showed a little more warmth and empathy toward their customers, it could easily become one of the best Mexican restaurants in Birmingham. The food has potential, but the overall dining experience also depends on how customers are treated, and that's the area that still needs the most improvement.
