Reliable transportation and amazing customer service - I fully intend on using TransportAzumah again and highly recommend their services. I made a trip up to Mountain Creek Resort and ended up being the only one to book the reservation. Joel was responsive and helpful with finding alternative transport and I arrived at my destination at exactly the time I expected. My return trip was several days later which was no issue. Other snow bus services only offer same day return trips and you'd have to book a second reservation to ensure you'd have a seat. TransportAzumah was much more accommodating in this aspect and my return trip was perfectly scheduled, seamless, on time, and relaxing. Joel was responsive to all my queries and I had no issues with reaching him. He makes sure that you have a ride and you get to your destination. Their prices are unbeatable and their accommodations are unmatched - I wish their snow bus services were more well known to the public! Enjoying a beautiful drive to Six Flags on Transport Azumah for the first time round-trip. Courteous Welcome by our Host once he called us over to the pick up space on 41st St (a little closer to 9th on the block). Signage would help like a card in the bus window? We were nervous first-timers, but the bus arrived on schedule at 9:15 AM. Thanks also to Customer Service who let us know what's up, ETA etc. We got a return trip with General Park Admission, and will have the same driver back--Perfect! I called at 10:45 (When they said I should show up) and they said "bus broke down night before." They said they "texted everyone" but I got no text. Had to call 4 times to reach anyone. I booked the tickets for Six Flags Great Adventure including park tickets and THEN read the reviews. I was concerned waiting for the trip to come but just went with it. It was great! The bus was clean and all the staff were helpful and kind. We left exactly on time and they provided clear instructions on how to find the bus at the end of the day. I lost my AirPods on the trip and was able to get them back from Joel himself, no issues! The bus was running at least an hour & a half late. I received a text they would send an Uber on my behalf so I wouldn't need to take this bus to LBI. This seemed very suspicious considering the cost of an Uber would have been extremely expensive in comparison to the cost of my bus ticket. I did not feel comfortable taking the Uber and asked to wait for the bus. After I agreed to wait, they kept pushing back the time the bus would arrive. I ended up leaving because I felt pressured to take the Uber and it did not seem like they were going to pick me up. I tried to email the company, but my email was returned. I will not be using this service again!! read more

I don't get the bad reviews. Booked the bus from midtown NYC to Long Beach Island and was one of two passengers on a full-size luxury bus. It was waiting at the stop 15 minutes early, left on time and arrived early. For $40, what more could you ask for? Wonderful experience and would happily do it again. read more

I have taken the LBI bus from NYC several times, and Newark airport most recently, and have always had a great experience. On all occasions, I was traveling alone and a bit unsure of the pick up spot but the phone number was answered right away, every time, and I was given perfect directions on where to wait. Once on the bus, or the 12 passenger van from NYC, all vehicles were clean, cool and quiet. Most recently my driver from Newark to Holgate/LBI was fantastic so I just booked 2 more trips for Labor Day weekend. Thank you for having your service available to LBI. Note - this review was a draft from 2016 that I had started but never completed until today! ---- I wasn't sure what to expect! There weren't too many reviews, so i was skeptical, plus the reservation process seemed borderline shady (you send an email, pay cash on pickup). But it was either this or have to take multiple buses and transfer at a park n ride (with tight transfer times which seemed risky), so I hedged my bets and went to give transport Azumah a try. A large white coach bus (neither old or new) arrived a few minutes ahead of schedule. The driver (friendly, professional) immediately got out and asked what stop people were getting off at so that he could arrange the bags accordingly. I was going to be the first stop so he actually put my bag up front w him so i wouldn't have to mess with the underneath-the-bus luggage when i disembarked. It was a Thursday 7pm departure from NY and surprisingly there was not a lot of traffic. The bus was maybe 2/3 full. I arrived at my destination 10 minutes early, so it was a successful trip and comfortable ride. read more

Despite reading all of the negative reviews, we gave this company a shot... the man answered the phone every time we called, UNTIL the bus was a half hour late... and he still continued not to answer when it was an hour late!! 6 people were waiting for the bus and all 6 called him continuously... he FINALLY answered and said the bus didn't pick us up because "the passengers already on the bus told the driver not to"!!!! Hardly an explanation, no apology, completely disrupted a work day by making us late and caused significant last minute expenses for us to get to where we needed to be. This company is a total SCAM. My sister and I were waiting for the Surf Line bus (much better company, take your business there) when a bus pulled up right on time. We showed our tickets to the driver who told us we were at the right bus and ushered us on board. 20 minutes into the ride we pull over in the side of the highway in Manahawkin, where a man gets on to check our tickets again. He checked ours and told us we had the wrong tickets and could either pay $80 or be left on the side of the highway. The bus driver clearly let us on the bus knowing we had the wrong ticket and would have to pay when we pulled over in Manahawkin. SCAM. I haven't used Transport Azumah in a few seasons because I have always had issues with this company. One time, I was left waiting for the bus in NYC for two hours with no word from the company. As many of the other reviews state, this is a total scam. Sometimes they show up, sometimes they don't. There is ALWAYS confusion upon pickup. I have witnessed customers that have pre-paid be turned away due to over booking several times. I have also seen many customers pretend to be someone else and steal another passengers spot. Also, don't expect anyone to pickup the phone if the bus is late or doesn't show up. There is absolutely no organization - very poorly ran service. The owner is a very angry man, who won't shy away from a screaming match with customers over his own mistakes. In my opinion, the owner is a low life scam artist that doesn't care about the customers at all. There's a reason this service has a terrible reputation and awful reviews. read more

This company does not even deserve one star. Unfortunately, the only direct transportation method for NYC - LBI and back, I reserved a seat for $40 and was told to wait at the Gulf gas station on route 72 for the 5:40pm pick up. I sent them a text at 5:55pm and was told they were running late but knew I was waiting. At 6:05pm, the bus finally shows up and literally slows down, the driver looks in my general direction, then picks up speed and takes off!!! There is no sign or area to indicate where you should stand for pick up, so I wasn't standing on the side of the road and this jerk literally did not stop AT ALL, just slowed down, shrugged his shoulders and took off. So thanks TransportAzumah, for leaving me stranded in a gas station 3 hours from NYC. Much appreciated. read more

I had a reservation on the retuning 5pm on a Sunday (today), and their driver is 2.5 hours late if he comes at all (told b the owner on the phone)!!!!!!! He wont send 2 busses for the 9pm'ers. Not sure why this company has bad reviews. I have used this service 3 times (Fridays) during the month of July and have had no issues. Bus is on time, seats are comfortable and roomy (56 passenger bus), there is a bathroom on board the bus and it's clean and driver's are very kind and are very patient while dealing with heavy traffic. I was taking Amtrak to Philly and someone would pick me up at the station, this is so much easier because bus drops you right on LBI!!! It takes about 2h 40m with no traffic and about 3 hours in traffic, well worth it. You get to sit and relax while someone else drives in traffic!! I will be using in August as well. My only wish is that they had more options on Thursdays in the afternoon (3:00pm or 5:40pm) as people do like to go away for extended weekends. read more

I purchased an 11am bus ticket from NYC to LBI for my fiancé. We are having a family reunion. I called 6:15 in the morning just to make sure everything would be okay. My fiancé arrived 30mins prior to pickup. A man showed up at 11am with only 6 passenger car. My fiancé being the 7th and unaccommodated person. The driver loaded 6 people and left my fiancé standing there. Driver pulled off as my fiancé was speaking to him. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. do not expect any level of customer service or communication from this operator. if you buy a ticket think of it as a lottery rather than a bus ticket or car fare. you will have no idea who is picking you up, in what, or when, until they arrive, if they arrive. it doesnt appear they own any vehicles or directly employ any drivers; major red flag. definitely do nit use this service if you are arranging group transit because they may arrive without capacity to get you where you need to go. they also do not do any consistent ticket control. my outbound trip, the driver didnt even look at my ticket and multiple people have informed me of rides that were cancelled, diverted, or extremely late because of vehicle capacity issues. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This bus service was literally the worst bus experience in my entire life. We waited until we were told that our entire bus trip was cancelled and that the next bus wasn't coming for another 3 hours. Joel (pronounced Joe-ell) is the owner and was so rude, he almost kicked out my friend for telling him that she didn't want to pay the full price of the ride because he cancelled our bus. Not only was our bus cancelled, but they didn't tell us that they would not stop at our stop if we didn't tell the bus driver exactly where we were going. So we missed it and had to wait for all other customers to get off before we could turn around and get out at our actual stop. The entire trip took about 3 hours not including the 3 hour wait before that. I will never take this bus again as long as I live. Tell everyone you know! read more

Every patch and divet on the NJTPK feels like a crater. A third world travel experience. Beware of this company!! Got to the bus stop with three tickets that I bought a week before down to LBI. The were a lot of people waiting, when the 15 passenger van pulled up people started getting on and it became clear that there wasn't enough seats. The driver said no problem, it was their fault and there would be an SUV in about 10 min to grab us three and one other person who couldn't get on either. Great, no problem. Then we proceeded to wait an hour and half and we were texting with the driver and the company (who's phones don't work, they just get texts... shady) and they kept leading us on until an hour and half went by and then they now said no SuV was coming and we would have to wait another 3 hours till the next bus. Ummm what? When I asked them to get us an Uber or some other way to get down there, they tried to make up a story that we were late and that's why didn't get on. That was totally false and obviously we were waiting with the full van for a half an hour waiting for the suv that was supposed to come. I am trying to get a refund but I have a feeling they will steal my money for 3 tickets. I would be very very very careful using this shady company. I will be letting everyone I know who goes down to LBI on a regular basis to stay far away from these guys. And I hope you do to. It's not worth it. read more

Horrible service for the premium fee. The owner/operator is usually short and annoyed and will not reply to complaints. Bus is almost always late, in the last case, 25 minutes late. 13 people and a baby crammed into a van and then we were informed we needed to stop for gas. For $40 each way how can you oversell and not include even a bathroom let alone wifi (which most other bus companies offer at lower rates). I emailed repeatedly asking for clarification - at the least you can email riders to notify them of changes and delays instead of acting irritated when contacted over time and schedule. This guy is unprofessional and I will do whatever it takes to NOT use this service again. read more

Reckless driver was on phone 2 1/2 hours while driving 80 mph on Sunday, 8/13/17, leaving LBI at 11:50 AM to NYC. Bus number 5702. Two days prior, Friday 8/11/17, same driver was on yelling on his phone and texting while on the highway. Several commuters stated that he is "always on the phone", and were afraid to confront him while he was driving and yelling on phone. The woman next to me stated that she wrote a complaint letter to the company last summer re: same driver on phone; her letter went unanswered. They rarely pick up the phone. When I reached someone, he said" send an email". When I stated that I in fact HAD sent an email, he denied receiving it. It is impossible to find a street address for this business, to make a complaint. The person on the phone did not sound interested at all when I described this terrible 2 1/2 ride. Dangerous ride; company does not care to discuss. Perhaps this rude driver owns the company. 5 women and one man on the bus stated that they will be sending email complaints. I fear these will be ignored and deleted. read more

I ran across the bad reviews and want to put in my two cents. Let me tell you a story about this company. When I was a newly divorced father of two young girls with NO money, TransportAzumah's shuttle bus service to LBI was the only way I could afford a vacation with my kids. They packed all of our bags for us, lent my kids an ipad charger (from the driver's own phone) and...not kidding.... dropped all of us off in front of my apartment building in brooklyn on a return trip one year. The driver said "where are you headed" as we were preparing to unload after the return trip in Manhattan - I told him, and he said "I'm going back to the depo in Brooklyn now so I'll drop you off." I had arms full of luggage and two sleeping kids. It was going to be a rough trip home from manhattan. I will never ever ever ever ever ever forget this act of kindness. After the three of us got off the bus, we were asleep in 15 minutes. I tell this story all the time - it had a real impact on me. So don't believe the haters. I will back on this bus this summer - if we can 't take the bus, I will still buy three tickets anyway. Kind family people run this company and they deserve business and support. read more

Wanted to leave a fair and honest review here after travelling on TransportAzumah a few weeks ago. Travelling down to LBI, the service was very reliable. We traveled on a weekend morning, so there were a good amount of passengers and a large, comfortable and clean coach bus was chartered for our trip. I learned after that the size and quality of the vehicle chartered depends very much on how many passengers they anticipate and bus timing. Our trip down was ideal -- the coach was comfortable, arrived in NYC on time, and arrived at LBI early. Because this company only charters buses based on demand and timing, the way back to NYC was a much different story. The 'bus' was about 15 minutes late, which isn't terrible, but is disconcerting if you haven't received any notification from the company and can't get in touch (which was our experience). This time, instead of a large coach bus, it was a small black van that wouldn't be particularly identifiable if we hadn't called ahead of time and asked what type of vehicle to look for. (Tip to other passengers to always call ahead to check on the status of the vehicle). To say that the trip back was horrifyingly dangerous is an understatement. Our driver drove through the rain, but complained the entire time that his windshield wipers were broken and, therefore, he couldn't see. He took unanticipated breaks with no notice after he was already late, but much more concerning, he drove incredibly erratically. Of course the service of the trip varies greatly based on the driver, but this particular driving was unacceptable. We were in multiple near accidents, including stopping on the middle of the highway for no reason. At one point, the driver took a turn quickly and must have scraped up against the barrier, which we could hear from inside the van. It was terrifying, and everyone on the trip made a b-line for a taxi as soon as they could get off. The unfortunate circumstance with this company is that it's pretty much the only option to get back and forth to LBI without a ton of stopovers, so it occupies a niche and therefore won't change much despite these reviews. Overall, if you want to take this service, you can do so with caution. Make sure to check on the status of all vehicles and report any reckless driving that you experience. read more

I traveled to and from LBI this past weekend on TransportAzumah. A van provided the service each way as there were only 14 passengers. However the van was in great condition and while it was a bit cramped there were no other issues with the vehicle. The van arrived on time and most importantly, the driver was excellent. I had no safety concerns on either trip ( even with rainy weather on the return to NCY). I have used TransportAzumah for more than 5 years and admit there have been a few experiences that did not come close to this past weekend. But I'll continue to use them as they are the best option to get from NYC to LBI on public transportation. read more

STRANDED IN MANAHAWKIN!!! WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY..THEY WILL LEAVE YOU TO DIE!! What an experience I had!! I had made a reservation to be picked up on Tuesday, August 23rd at 5:40pm in Manahawkin. I made the reservation 5 days in advance and received an email from them confirming my reservation. I decided to call the day before to confirm my ride. The gentleman on the phone laughed at me and said "if you received an email from us than you are reserved". I said OK, but I am going to call again tomorrow to confirm. I called on the day of my pick-up and they said that "yes, I am good to go and I will be picked up in a black Mercedes van". Wow!! Great!!! I am now sitting outside in the hot weather waiting for my reserved ride to show up at 5:40pm as scheduled. I understand there is traffic so I don't panic when it does not show up. But it's now 6pm, and now it is 6:10pm - 30 minutes late - so I decide to make a call. After calling numerous times because the voice mail said to wait and someone will pick up, and then disconnects you, I finally get in touch with the one and only guy that seems to have answered every other time I had called in the past. He tells me to hold on and he will call the driver. We get disconnected again. I finally get him back on the phone and he tell me that "the driver missed your exit and in order to avoid an angry driver and angry passengers, I am going to TRY to get you a cab to take you to Tom's River so you can catch a bus into the city". WHAT??? The driver missed my stop??? How can that be?? I confirmed this reservation every day!!! I said that they need to get me a car and pay for me to get back into NYC. They said No!! They will get me to Tom's River!! Before I go forward with the rest - Were they going to call me to tell me this? If I had not called, I would have been stranded at a Gas Station on Rt 72 with no way out. Unbelievable!!! How could they not call me to tell me this? Absolutely disgusting!! So...going foward - Due to the complete lack of customer service and communication, I wanted to make sure they would even call me back to let me know if their "attempt" to get me cab was successful!! They said they would, but who knows how long that would take. At this point, I am furious!! I ended up calling Uber and thankfully the guy was nice enough to get me to Hoboken ($177 later). After 30 minutes in Uber, I finally get a call from Ibibus (I did not answer the phone) and they said they have a cab coming and they paid for it (What a surprise). Screw that!! I guess the cab ended up coming, as I received numerous calls from a 609 number!! Needless to say, I hope it costs Ibibus a lot of money to send that cab there. I will NEVER use this company again and I highly recommend no one else does!! After speaking with the Uber driver - the best way to get to LBI is to take a 45 min, beautiful, Ferry from Wall Street to Atlantic Highlands and then take an Uber from there for about $50 bucks. It's worth the extra money to avoid being stranded and a much better ride!! This company should be off the road and a new, responsible, customer service oriented person should handle these reservations!! DON'T GET STRANDED!!!! read more

A few years ago, this was a great service. In 2016, it has been horrible. Buses are regularly 45+ minutes late with no apology or explanation, and calls from stranded passengers go unanswered 2/3 of the time. I have stood on a hot Manhattan sidewalk in 97 degree weather waiting for the "11:00" bus, to have it arrive at 11:50, no updates given so passengers would know they didn't need to stand in miserable heat, humidity, & direct sunlight for an hour. I have waited an hour for the "9:30" bus from Surf City to NYC, made literally 5 phone calls beginning at 10:00 only to receive no answer and then 30 min later completely give up hope that they'd be coming at all. This is not a dependable service by any stretch of the imagination. Furthermore two of their buses I've been on this summer had no air-conditioning in 90 degree humid weather - and no ability to open windows either. This *used to be* a great service, 3 years ago. I don't know what the problem is but it's clearly falling apart. read more

Last summer I thought this company had finally gotten it's act together (after years of bad experiences...see below) and then this holiday weekend 7 friends booked on 3 separate buses from LBI to NYC experienced the following: 2 buses cancelled at the last minute via email and the last one arrived 2 hours late, with no communication from driver/owner, getting back to NYC at 2AM instead of 11:30PM. In addition there was not enough room on the VAN that showed up for all of the reserved passengers even after being 2 hours late...a VAN (not a bus as expected and advertised) on a holiday weekend when there were way more than 12 people with reservations? Not to mention they tried to run a 7PM trip from NYC and a 9PM trip from LBI using the SAME vehicle....anyone who does the simple math here knows that this can't work especially on a holiday weekend. In addition the owner indicated that paypal payments had been refunded (because it seems paypal has had enough of this company and the many disputes they must be receiving) however no such refund was received so those forced to pay cash on board after already paypal-ing paid double. In addition to the situations described above I have also previously: 1) been on a bus that broke down on the Parkway and left all of the riders at a rest stop to find their own way back to NYC 2) been on a bus that was pulled over for passing an open weigh station only to find out the driver's documentation was not accurate and have to wait an additional hour for the situation to be cleared up and 3) had multiple buses cancelled at the last minute including the last bus on a Sunday night leaving no other option for getting back to NYC until Monday afternoon. The owner doesn't understand how to predict demand even with a reservation system and will cancel your bus at the last minute if he suddenly realizes he doesn't have enough reservations to make it worth his while. End result:: This "business" only exists because there is no competitor offering direct transportation to LBI from NYC. It takes two buses to get to/from on NJ Transit but totally worth it for the reliability! read more
