I have been to this location, a couple of times and both times were great. The only issue for me was I ordered the sashimi bento box and I wish they would have given me more sashimi. They offer happy hour all day Sunday which is great since I work late and can never make it to happy hour during the week! The 'All you can eat sushi' for lunch is currently $22.95, only available at the bar. You are limited to the rolls and appetizers listed on lunch menu. Some of the rolls are very elaborate (Buddha-Lucious), while others are rice and ingredients (Spicy-Tuna). Our party enjoyed everything we ordered. For appetizers, we had gyoza, tempura shrimp, and miso soup. All were delicious. Sitting at the sushi bar, allowed us to view the creation of each roll as well as what others were ordering. The appetizers were order and served by our waitress, while the sushi was delivered from the sushi chef. Overall, I feel there is something for everyone on the menu. The dinner menu has a few more seafood options but costs a little more. read more

To start off, my husband and I have been going to this Trapper's in Culebra Commons since they opened (I think in 2024). We waited from the time the sign went up and the doors weren't even open yet to now (Sept 2026). We have gone here several times in the last year or two. Service, Food Quality, Drinks, and just overall ambience was so good when we started going. We only go to the AYCE, so speed and overall taste were what we liked most about this spot. It literally was the only spot we would recommend newcomers to in San Antonio. But I don't know what the change has been recently; management, food/liquor licensing, suppliers, or something else. Everything has gone so far downhill, it's not even funny. It's actually upsetting because we're paying over $80 (for 2) for AYCE without any alcohol or tip. The servers are good when they come around (friendly), but during the last couple of visits they stop coming around, or check in very sparingly. At one point, she only came to clean up plates of the couple that left and didn't acknowledge my husband when he tried to get her attention. She just walked passed the whole bar area. At least two of the three other parties had to ask the sushi chefs to pay their bill or go to stand at the front to pay. I see the servers talking to each other or doing closing duties (at 7:30pm). Our most recent visit she forgot several items we had to remind her about, and she didn't even apologize or even acknowledge she forgot. And when she brought it (soup), she dropped it off without saying anything, so it was at my elbow as I turned around in the seat next to me. And they stand there expecting a big tip and make faces when they turn the POS screen around when we don't tip them enough. Just to be clear, we usually go around 7-8pm, to give enough time for them to close at 9pm. They use to close at 10pm, but due to low traffic and to save money they stopped staying open so late. Fair enough. All the waitresses were cleaning the restaurant and they were putting away all the sashimi and nigiri up at 7:50pm. The whole place was dead at 8:00pm. We were with maybe one or two other couples. This is not the first time either. The last time, we actually just tipped the sushi chef because she got us more drinks and appetizers before the waitress came back. It was empty in the restaurant. The fish. I have no other words other to say it was disgusting. It tasted off, as if it defrosted funny or sitting around all day. The rice was poorly cooked. Of the individual nigiri and the rolls we had, all of them fell apart as we picked it up to eat it. It was ridiculous because it took them a while to even get it together. They had a "master chef" there, and he was not friendly nor asked us what we wanted for 10 mins as he made one/two other roles. Usually the sushi chef's are quick and at least acknowledge us waiting, even if they aren't the most friendly. I don't need them to talk to me, but at least acknowledge me sitting at your counter. It honestly was the best part of the experience, but this location doesn't even have that anymore. This isn't even the first time we were disappointed at this location of Trapper's. But it is the first time we were so disappointed that we don't even want sushi for a while. I know it's San Antonio, and it's not a hotspot for fresh fish, so our expectations are limited. But we know what we like, and what the standard was at one point in time. This Trapper's is not what it was when it opened. All I can recommend is go to Takumi honestly. It has more on the menu and they at least will acknowledge you. OR be wary when you go after 7:00pm between Monday-Thursday. read more

This place is pricey. We didn't try the sushi buffet but I would like to. I got the tuna tower and it was fresh but very bland!!! I added spicy mayo, ginger, and eel sauce to it and it tasted much better. The tuna was very fresh, though! The staff was nice. I'll try it once more. We went for lunch and weren't planning on doing the buffet. We then realized that it was going to be more cost-effective to do the buffet. You do have to specify what you're going to do when you get seated as the buffet is only in the sushi bar. The lunch buffet is decently priced at $22.95. It included appetizers and rolls. If you wanted, specialty rolls, including nigiri, then you would have to pay for the dinner buffet. You order your appetizers through the waitress and the rolls through the sushi chefs. For being an all you can eat buffet, the presentation was beautiful. I had the seaweed salad the crystal shrimp as the appetizers. For my rolls I had the Mount Rainier, the salmon skin and the mountain. I could have done without the salmon skin. It was definitely more rice than protein. I do suggest ordering two rolls at a time so you don't have to wait to get your order taken again. For the appetizers, order all you want because our waitress did take a while to come around. We actually had to ask for her as we were running out of water. I would say that this is a good place to go eat at. I'm not a sushi, connoisseur, but it was good. They have great happy hour specials. Sunday is included in their happy hour. Parking is on site by shared with the other businesses. read more

My son and I have been planning to try this place out ever since we got a 25% off coupon in one of those mailer envelopes. Today, we finally made it. The place is very nicely laid out. The decor is bright and modern. It looks like they are aiming for the younger nightclub crowd. We did not want all you can eat sushi, so we were led to a booth. I will say that the booths are pretty tight. We were able to force the benches back a bit, but had someone been at our neighboring tables that would have been impossible. If I were a manager, I would have my staff shift all of the benches to make them more accommodating for larger guests. Both the manager, who greeted us at the door, and our server gave us lengthy explanations on how the restaurant works. They really seemed to be pushing all you can eat. We had decided earlier that we did not really like the sushi choices on the lunch menu and didn't want to pay nearly $40 bucks for the dinner menu. The sushi on the lunch menu all seemed "over produced". It was as if they asked an AI sushi designer to create them with a prompt like this: Create a variety of sushi rolls that will please hipsters using lots of unusual and flashy ingredients. Me? I like spicy tuna rolls. I'm not into those super californicated creations. Luckily for me, my steak bento box came with four pieces of spicy tuna roll. It also came with a heaping pile of seaweed salad, which was not listed on the menu. I was pleasantly surprised by that. It also had a very nice portion of perfectly cooked and flavored bulgogi beef on white rice and some tempura veggies (asparagus, zucchini, and an onion ring) which were amazing. My son ordered the Long Roll Variety. It had four pieces of different specialty rolls. I have to say they looked really pretty. He really liked the "crystal shrimp" that was on some of them and said the rolls themselves were delicious. He offered me a taste, but, as I said, I like spicy tuna rolls and sashimi. Not into fancy concoctions. He said the accompanying cucumber salad was really good. We both liked the miso soup which seemed more flavorful than I have had at other places. Would we go back? Yes, we would definitely come back for lunch. I really enjoyed my bento box. My beautiful wife and I spent a very special evening at Trapper's Sushi. Our server , Layla, was very nice and attentive. She took very good care of us. The ambiance was welcoming and very open. Another first time visit at a new location. Weekday visit for dinner. Place is nice and quiet. It was not busy at all for 6pm. Service was fine. Food was not horrible but was also not blown away by it. I ordered the trappers bay breeze. While it was good (couldn't taste any of the liquor) it didn't come with any of the mango or orange slices as described. I didn't notice this until afterwards. I order the Vader which was good. It says it has avocado in it but I couldn't see but a few pieces in it (nor taste). It was still good. Not overly impressed to recommend it but I'd go back and give it another chance to make final decision. read more

Great promotions and great prices! I ordered a couple items on happy hour (1/2 off from 2-6pm every day): tempura vegetable and trapper bites (tempura crab) along with miso soup. Everything had good flavor, but the miso soup wasn't really warm when it came out. I told the server and she said they are working on the temperature settings. Came in for lunch, Eulyn was very quick to greet and sit us. She helped accommodate us to a table in the back to fit our stroller. Food was delicious and fresh as always. The specials are decently priced, lunch specials and the 2 for $18 rolls that includes a miso soup. If you download their app and make a rewards you get a free roll with few exclusions. The all you can eat portion is ONLY at the bar, something to keep in mind. They were having a server contest/free dessert promo when leaving a review. The new location is the second Trapper's location here in San Antonio, with the first being in Alamo Ranch. Trapper's is best known for its all-you-can-eat sushi bar. They also have dine-in a la carte options if you're not wanting AYCE! My favorite thing on the menu? Their special Trapper Bites! It's an appetizer but trust me, you'll love it! Everyone there is so kind and mindful, and our server was able to help us choose which rolls to get! They have high ceilings and a pretty spacious layout which is really nice. We were in the area and stopped in for drinks and sushi. We don't eat out a lot, but it was close, in a nice area, and on the way. I almost passed on this spot because of the reviews. Yet- I am happy we tried it. The drink menu is a mix of minimal wine, beer, and mixed drinks. They do however have 10 flavors of sake. The best 2 rolls we had were the Sounder and the Thrill (spicy). For $32/pp and 3 drinks plus tax it was roughly $95. Not bad for fish and sushi. I will mention the sushi artists are cranking out rolls every 5-10 mins. There's only a few of them. Space constraints make it hard to place more to manage high volume. The 2-4 people managed all the orders and serving. Which for a small restaurant after Covid is not bad... but I could imagine it is not easy. read more

Then when it was time to go - I had to get up to check out. I get I didn't get all you can eat but I spent more than an all you can eat person. Won't be going back.
