I was disappointed. The food wasn't as good as in the past . The raviolis had too much sauce that I could taste the ravioli.

We were seated outside promptly on a nice evening.The food portions were enough for us to bring some of home. I ordered the braciole with a cup of fruiti de vino. It was definitely worth the short wait to get our order. The tiramisu was also delicious. read more

Service- Jesse was a great server on Tuesday night and greeted us the following evening with a big smile and a hug; Marlon was our server Wednesday night and was so gracious, knowledgeable and polite, and repeatedly thanked us for our visit. When we made reservations on Tuesday night for Wednesday night, my husband jokingly asked the hostess to put Miller Lite next to our name- when we arrived for our reservation Wednesday and the young host showed us to our table, he said, "And I'll be right back with your Miller Lite"--and he was! Husband loved it!!! Roberto (or Ricardo, husband not sure) wears a black cap and he was amazing to watch both nights - he was everywhere- setting tables; greeting guests; clearing dishes; thanking guests as they left and doing it all with a big smile- truly an astonishing employee. All five stars. Food - pasta - pappardelle with walnut mushrooms was delicious (really!), and my husband thought the same of his shrimp scampi. Five stars. Pizza/calzone - The medium mushroom and roni pizza the night prior was very good- BUT there is NO reason that a topping for a 12-14" pizza should be $5+ each - the two toppings were almost as much as the plain pizza. Calzone - very, very good. Four stars only because of add-on topping price!! Soups - minestrone was a lil bland and had no pasta in it (a standard ingredient in almost all recipes); and the pasta fagioli, which did thankfully have pasta and beans, was also a lil bland. Three stars. Dessert - tiramisu was wonderful, even when eating the saved half portion for breakfast this morning! Five stars. All in all - great few nights there and will definitely return and know what (and who!) to ask for! read more

Half margarita half vegetarian pizza - divine!! The pizzas are truly Italian, thin, and while I preferred the margarita the veggie went down quite smoothly as well We split a Caesar salad and while there were too many slices of the fat style parmesan and little dressing it was still worthwhile especially for the price. Staff was very friendly. I would absolutely come back here in a heartbeat! Next time I'll order the rigatoni. read more

Our ladies group dined at Trattorio da Mino. Trattorio da Mino is a small family style restaurant and our larger group of 12 had to eat inside. This was perfect due to the heavy wind. A few of the ladies had the veal meatballs and salad and they were excellent. I had the caprese and it was excellent, but I wish it came with more of the balsamic reduction. They also have a lunch special for $20 which came with soup, salad and an entree. The only letdown was the Marguerita pizza which was basically a cheese pizza slice with a basil leaf on top. Normally a Marguerita pizza has pieces of fresh mozarella (not regular mozarella) and pieces of basil. All in all, sans the pizza slice, everything was good. I'm really struggling to figure out how Trattoria is earning a 4.5 ranking. Except for the potato-ginger soup, the food was disappointing all around: one appetizer, two dinners, one non-alcoholic beverage and not a flavor of anything to brag about. To add further insult, we paid $71 for this dreadful shebang. I'm pescatarian (vegan who eats fish although I occasionally "meat-cheat" under certain circumstances) and picked Trattoria b/c it advertised it was vegan-friendly. HA, I say. The ONLY vegan option was pasta (choice of gluten-free) with oil and veggies with the option to add shrimp, which is what I ordered. First delivery, after a short search for shrimp, I advised the waiter it was missing. He apologized and took the plate away while my companion ate. 1/2 way through his meal, my plate re-appeared with shrimp. Five rubbery, chewy, and very cold shrimp. (They were supposed to be cooked, or at least heated and semi-marinated with the veggies.) I actually wasn't going to say anything b/c I was REALLY hungry by then, but the waiter had returned to ask how everything was. (Incidentally, the waiter was exceptional and is the reason for the 2-star rating.) He whisked the plate away, apologizing profusely. The third delivery (by which time my companion had finished his dinner) came with four hot, soggy, rubbery, and frankly too disgusting to eat, shrimp imbedded in my pasta. My companion's dinner -- the lasagna -- was served hot and was, at best, "okay" in terms of flavor. New to the area, we strolled downtown Venice and were surprised to discover 87 billion other Italian restaurants (I exaggerate only a wee bit). After chatting with some other strollers and later conferring with friends we determined we somehow picked the very worst of the 87. Take my advice: trot on by the Trattoria. There are many, many, MANY other more worthy options. read more

Unassuming on the outside delicious on the inside. Had three pasta dishes and a pizza between three of us. All were old school authentic and delicious. Plus the host was a cool guy and helped us get inside when they didn't really have room for us without reservations but he predicted when another table would be done to support the reservation coming and gave us that table. We have wanted to try Trattoria and it was as good as the reviews said it was. My husband and I split the meatballs and a salad for an appetizer. Amazingly good. Trattoria Da Mino is a great place to head towards if you are looking for a pretty impressive pizza and you are in Venice, Florida. When someone is left to describe some of the great pizza places in the United States, southwestern Florida is not one of the regions that would come up. However, I have to say that this particular restaurant produces a pretty stellar pizza. I grew up in New Jersey, where we have some truly great pizza. It seemed as if we had a great pizzeria on a most every corner. When I moved to Florida back in 2001, I was both shocked and dismayed to learn that good pizza was not on every corner. In fact, good pizza was pretty hard to find in the Sunshine State. Maybe that's why when I find a good place with great pizza, it is indeed a reason to celebrate. And what better way to celebrate than with a slice of pizza in hand? I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I give it five stars. read more

What a pleasant surprise! I left the place "down the street," when there was a lack of servers. Here was just the opposite! I was greeted immediately and seated outside. I ordered a lunch special and was surprised again by how huge the side salad was! Four people could have shared it! Everything was tasty. Service was super pleasant and attentive. I decided to take most of the salad with me for later and my server packed it up and also brought me an extra ice tea to take along on this hot day. Drove from Manasota Key to get some authentic Italian food and this place was an EXCELLENT choice. The complimentary bread and tomato spread was a nice surprise appetizer. We ordered meatballs and a medium pizza and they were both super tasty. The Naughty Woman was soooo good that we wished we had ordered it as a whole instead of the 1/2 and 1/2 that we ordered. What a quaint "little" (maybe 8 tables inside but plenty outside) Italian restaurant on the Main Street in Venice. (was drizzling so sat inside) Walking in it smelled so great! The "greeter" told us the owner is very concerned with the quality of food-fresh made mozzarella and organic tomatoes, etc. service was good and our white pizza was different then any white pizza I ever had because one of the 4 cheeses-one Brie,mozzarella, shaved Parmesan and Gorgonzola! Now that can be an over powering cheese but this mixed perfectly with the other cheese. The crust was thin which is what I prefer. We ate our 6 slice pizza so quickly I forgot to get a picture! First time here, the place is small, but they do have outside seating. Unfortunately, I didn't know which was hotter to sit inside or outside, so we sat inside, and we were sweating. The server did not make us feel welcome as we told her this was our first time here. For one of our dishes, we had the option to add chicken, and we asked if it could be breaded; it seemed like a bother, so said for another $20 we could do that (wow). I was craving a good eggplant parmigiana and decided to try Tattoria Da Mino for the first time. Well...My eggplant arrived and I thought it was an appetizer. My side salad was twice the size as my entree. My husband's spaghetti and meatballs were a good portion... what happened??? This would have left a child hungry.
