Stopped in here for lunch & drinks & they had a happy hour going on. My wine for $5 was Frontera chardonnay & my husband had a Corona for $6. Our friend ordered the open-faced reuben & really enjoyed it & he ate the whole thing! Our waiter was friendly & funny. The owner had sat us & told the waiter she didn't like that we brought insulated water bottles inside as she thought we had alcohol in them! Of course we only had water so we had a chuckle over that. The place is very big & we love the very large wraparound bar. They have a stage so I'm sure it must be fun to see music here! Prices are very reasonable. read more

I've been to TJ Carney's many times and usually had positive experiences. But tonight was different. Our waitress was not very pleasant. She did not show any interest of us being there. She actually seemed like we were a bother. The food came out lukewarm at best. And my French Dip had barely any meat on it. I'm going to have to think twice before going back. So I only visited this place as a grill and not so much as a pub. Service was pretty good. Prices are a little high. Atmosphere was pretty good. The burger I got was definitely nothing special and way over cooked. It came with fries and they give you a small handful of fries. That's really where my problem with this place was. The food wasn't great and the portions were small. Made me feel like I wasnt getting my money's worth and after paying 25 bucks for a meal, I left not feeling filled up. Just left this establishment after waiting an hour and five minutes for our food. We were in there with no patrons and were seated and put our order in as the entire restaurant filled up. People had eaten and were leaving the establishment and the waitress came over and told us she's sorry it's taken so long and gave us rolls. About 20 minutes after that we still hadn't gotten our food and just left. We threw down money to cover our drinks. Terrible service would never recommend. read more

We had a great little lunch here. We were walking around the beach earlier and wanted something to eat before we headed home when we stumbled upon this place. I got the open face Reuben, and was really happy with it. The cheese was nice and melty on top. I started eating it with a fork and knife until I gave up. The fries it came with needed some salt, but they were pretty good otherwise. My brother got the chicken parm that I got to try. It was great, good portion, and we liked the tomato sauce. The spa wrap and the chicken cordon bleu sandwich on special were pretty tasty too. Another nice part was the bread basket we got at the beginning of the meal. Not the best bread I've ever had in my life, but it was a very welcome treat at the beginning of the meal. The staff was very friendly and efficient. We really appreciated our waitress Shawna. Food is always great. Highly recommend the Rueben. Great place to pop in during a festival or just for lunch/dinner. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. Special shout out to management for their consistent level of service and staff. Many have been there for years which says a great deal in such a highly competitive/turnover area like Venice. New Carney's Ale is something that will bring you back for sure. Locals and tourists blend well and music is varied on the weekends. Last note, no place else in town has the bar vibe like this place. From Vicki's pleasant greeting and subsequent wonderful service, I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch there! The French Onion Soup is quite tasty and I loved the melted baked cheeses. My husband had the California Chipotle Flatbread and I had a burger with no bun. Both were good and satisfying. No adult beverages but what we saw served looked refreshing and good. This was a disappointing experience. I will say that our server did try to make things right by us, but there was a handful of issues that were bad. From when we were seated it took an hour for our food to arrive. Our waitress dropped off a basket of fries to try and satisfy use. After we got our food my wife's jerk sandwich had the aioli spread on it, but she asked for it on the sides. My brother in law order fried pot stickers and got steamed. My sister in law had the grouper sandwich and didn't enjoy the flavor of it. Our waitress said they were having a hard time on the kitchen today. She did bring us fried pot stickers, a slice of key lime pie, and took my wife's sandwich off the bill. The lobster bisque wasn't too bad. Definitely one to share with someone at your table because you do get a decent amount. read more

Here on Christmas Day, sat out on patio my husband and I. Mel was great! Really good service and nice! Food was good.

This place is conveniently located downtown Venice. Staying on the island this was one of the few bars and one of the best. It's a clean classic restaurant. However, we came to dinner and was very pleased with the food. I had the jerk chicken and was delighted with how juicy the chicken was and how crispy the onion rings are. Our waitress was very attentive and so kind offering us drink recommendations and even helping remedy a late meal. Overall it's a nice place for a meal with good prices. Ask for Theresa :) read more

The weather was not great, Helene was almost 2 weeks out and Hurrican Milton was arriving in a few days, so a soggy night that shouldve been outdoors. That said, Gas House Gorilla's didn't disappoint, we sat pretty close to there stage setup & loved it. Service was good, but unfortunately they couldn't make a drink that wasn't listed on the menu. The rudest barmaids I have ever met. Completely ignored us and gave us dirty looks, while talking about us to the regulars. We were all over 21 and the younger girl said she "won't" be serving us, so we had manager come over. We were simply explaining that our ID is from a different state. The manager then took the ID, said nothing, and made a drink we did not ask for. Then both of them made snarky rude comments to me and my group of friends. We are full time Locals from Philadelphia. And so many people tell us to go there because they are from Philly area. They do not spring for sports package. They do not put volume up on games even if nothing else is going on. Won't supply wifi. Just nickel and dime everything and majority of staff is always cranky. Locals please stop telling people it's a sports bar. It is not. Definitely not a place if you live here must just cater to tourists as they change menu prices anytime anything is happening in town. To start I asked the waitress what was good the menu was very diverse and with few irish items what was good. I got an eye roll and was told the ribs. We just moved to Florida and are trying out local restaurants. We came across TJ Carney's and decided to give it a try. Then we checked the reviews, and we were a little skeptical. But then I saw the reviews were pretty old. We ordered the ahi tuna app which was a little expensive for the portion you get. My wife got the salmon, again a little over priced. I got the barbecue ribs.The ribs were juicy and fell off the bone very good. I'm not a french fried person, but the fries that came with my ribs were very good. would have gave it a 5 star rating if it were not for the Ahi tuna appt just did not think it was worth the money. But overall, no complaints with the food our server Gina was excellent. I know things are a little expensive today, but to get less and pay more is disappointing. so I hope this review helps. read more

Walking through main drag in downtown Venice we saw the sign for Fish Sandwich special & my hubby wanted to try it. We were seated promptly but server didn't show for several minutes. Took drink order and again waited several minutes for delivery. Restaurant not that busy so we were a little baffled by the wait. Ordered food and again had to wait for around 30 minutes for it to be brought. Fish sandwich & fries were mediocre at best, especially since it was the special. Chicken tenders ( I didn't try) were crispy and my son seemed to like them. My black & blue salad ( seared Ahi Tuna) was ok but a high quality blue cheese dressing would make it better. The Ahi seemed to have come right out of a package, it was rare, but certainly not just seared, It wasn't even warm. Tables had filled up during our wait and quickly became very loud with a couple of large parties. We actually spent more time waiting than eating -overall experience disappointing. read more

Decided to have a light lunch in the town of Venice. In the middle of town you will find TJ Carbeys. An Irish style pub. We sat outside because it was a beautiful day . The margherita pizza was a perfect light lunch. It is made on a crunchy flaky crust so it was not filling at all. The lobster bisque was amazing. The service was excellent. Our young waiter was great. No complaints. What a great place to stop and have a beer, drink, or food. We really enjoyed eating here and will certainly return. read more

Staff says owner allows restaurant public to VAPE in the restaurant. So be advised that if you get migraines from vape exposure that the atmosphere may be polluted and injurous to your health. The restaurant policy encourages people sitting at one table to blow their vape on to the people that are eating their food at the next table. Vape like cigarette smoke goes everywhere in the air anyhow. Complaints about vaping do not go over well with restaurant staff. If there are clean air laws in Florida to protect the public from the nuisance of vape, this restaurant has an atmosphere that allows for complete disregard of any such public protections. It really is ashamed. Otherwise, the restaurant is a fun family place for diner and dancing. I cannot help it that exposure to vape makes me feel so terrible for days. read more
