Was visiting my son in Rome and went to this restaurant a handful of times because I was staying in the area. Food is really good so is the wine...service is good thought the owner is a grouch but you have limited dealings with him (maybe he doesn't like Americans). I tried several dishes all were really tasty the restaurant is cute, small and I recommend making a reservation which is done easily online if you go to their website.

Vongole and bottarga, to die for!

This restaurant, popular with locals, was also featured in an Anthony Bourdain episode. We came here for dinner looking to try local foods. This restaurant is located in the Monti neighborhood, a non touristy area, but not too far of a drive (or walk) from the more commonly known and frequented areas. In my quest to taste all of the 4 Roman pastas I opted to try the amatriciana this time which is a guanciale, cherry tomato and cheese sauce pasta. It's delicious and definitely more like the type of sauce that I prefer (much better than cacio e pepe in my opinion). My husband had the spaghetti with vongole and bottarga, it was salty and so good it almost made me cry. Lastly we had to try something classic Roman and since they were out of snails we opted for the tripe in tomato sauce. To my surprise I really enjoyed this dish, but I do think tomato sauce makes anything and everything taste better. Romans do love their offal so why not be a bit adventurous and taste the local stuff to really try and dive into the culture. For dessert we had to have a tiramisu and also a panna cotta. Both were tasty and the perfect ending to a great meal. Service was good and friendly enough and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely recommend coming here if you're looking to get a taste for local flavors.

We've returned to Trattoria Morgana a few times since moving to Rome and every time it has been a delicious adventure in new tastes. Once I realized how skillful the chef was, I tried some foods that were outside my comfort zone and I was rewarded with a new and exciting experience, one that I've revisited multiple times. This evening we brought some family that were visiting because we trusted that it would be a very good experience, and it was. To be polite to the other people in our party, I only took a few pictures, but I hope that they can convey the quality of a few of the dishes we enjoyed. First was the wine. They have a great, deep wine list and while we normally prefer white wines during the summer, the last time we were here I enjoyed a red wine that really spoke to me. I found the picture I saved on my phone and confirmed with the waiter they were still offering it, so we broke with tradition and enjoyed a red. My appetizer was the octopus on a bed of hummus. This is one of the new dishes that I tried in the past and I was very excited to eat again. The description of the hummus is that it was made with ceci, but it is so creamy and smooth that I was certain it was made with a white bean. It's obvious that I need to improve my skills when making hummus at home. The octopus had been the biggest surprise because this is something I had only ordered at asian restaurants in the US in the past and I found it to be very chewy and probably frozen. This, however, was fresh, tender and subtle and together they made a pairing that shouldn't be missed. For my main dish, a couple of us got the hand-made pappardelle noodles with wild-boar sauce (Pappardelle al ragù bianco di cinghiale) and I was glad at this point that we ordered the red wine. It is a full flavored, but certainly not gamey, meat sauce that made me feel like I was getting even with those wild boars that are roaming around Rome. The pasta was fresh and chewy and the sauce, even though it's a ragù bianco, doesn't have cream or any other white sauce, which is what I have eaten in other restaurants. It is a delicious meat sauce that has only a few quality ingredients that are allowed to shine. Another dinner guest had the Chicken alla Cacciatora, which I had eaten during a previous visit, and it is a slow braised chicken that is falling off the bone. I thought that this dish has a bunch of other ingredients, like peppers and tomatoes, but I think that is the US version. Here, it is way more simple, again, allowing the chicken to be tasted without the addition of a bunch of other overpowering ingredients. This time we didn't get dessert, so I finished my meal off with an espresso. I was surprised to learn that their roaster, Ciamei, is local. It was delicious and I look forward to buying some of this coffee for home.

3 stars because it was pretty much half and half of likes and dislikes. The bruschetta (both kinds: traditional and bacon fat) were both flavorless. Lacking seasoning. My friends pesto penne, also flavorless. I don't think they salt anything. I did not try the carbonara or the tomato and bacon pasta but it looked good. My pasta (just black pepper and Parmesan) I actually really enjoyed. I wanted a basic pasta dish and loved it. Also the wine was very delicious. The price point is great. For my pasta 9€ and it was a really big portion. I could not finish it. However it was very heavy for just pasta with no sauce, I had a stomach ache after. But it was very delicious! So I'm torn with my rating.

Great food but the service was terrible. Very difficult to get someone to come to our table.

By the time we were seated, dozens of people were waiting behind us. We sipped an Aperol spritz and lemonade while we waited, chatting with fellow diners who raved about the restaurant. On a sweltering day, our kids were starting to struggle in the heat when the owner came outside and gave them mini pizzas breads. It was a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Once seated, we ordered burrata, cacio e pepe, amatriciana pasta, pork chops, and fried artichokes. Everything was excellent, but the amatriciana was the standout--rich, savory, and unforgettable. The cacio e pepe was silky, the burrata fresh and creamy, the pork chops juicy, and the fried artichokes perfectly crisp. There's a reason people line up for Da Enzo. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere lively, and the hospitality remarkable. Without question, this was our best meal in Rome and one of our most memorable restaurant experiences.

The tomatoes were fresh and juicy but the burrata was a bit thick (referring to the outer aspect). Also the bread was a bit tough. The amatriciana was good, but not worth a 2 hour wait in a line, 7.5/10. Pasta was perfectly al dente, but the sauce wasn't anything to die for. I think you can get a very similar possibly better pasta in Rome without the wait. My girlfriend got the gnocchi pasta, which she said was a 7/10. The gnocchi was great, but again the sauce wasn't anything special Tiramisu, 10/10. This was amazing. It was sweet without being overpowering. The ladyfingers weren't soggy, and had that strong espresso taste. I would come back here just for this dessert. Also if you don't like cramped spaces, probably not the best spot. I could hear the people next to me better than I could hear the person across me haha.

Super pizza place with a lot of other great stuff on the menu…read more I looked with envy at the other tables who were enjoying spectacular plates of spaghetti with mussels. * * * That said, my pizza was a grand slam home run. Many of their pizzas are quite elaborate With all sorts of exotic ingredients. I went super simple. Gorgonzola. Mozzarella. That's it. Just enough Mozzarella to cut the Gorgonzola and make for a good melt. * * * If you have never had a gorgonzola pizza, you have never lived. Just sayin'. * * * P.S. My lovely wife got a Norwegian salmon pizza. The Norwegian salmon was stacked up high on her pizza As if she was in the World Series of Poker and she was a big winner. I have never seen so much salmon on one plate. After our meal, I made a discreet phone call to the Norwegian embassy in Rome asking them if they still had any salmon left. The woman at the embassy assured me the Norwegian salmon supply was fine. That surprises me given all the salmon that was on my wife's pizza.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
