    Chicken Piccata

I came here with a large group for a holiday celebration and had a lovely time. We were able to get a large table outside but they have a covered seating area and heaters. Our server was very attentive to our table. I opted for a fun holiday cocktail- love the festive options! For my meal I chose the chicken piccata and it is delicious! I appreciate the veggies it is served with. Large portions! I was so full. Parking was a bit challenging on a Friday evening.

Our first visit to Uliveto did not disappoint! The space is huge, with plenty of indoor, bar, and patio seating. They also have a good-sized wine list and a full bar menu--lots of beverage choices to suit any taste. We walked in without a reservation on a Thursday evening and were seated right away. The atmosphere was relaxed, and our server was very friendly. We started with the Bruschetta, which could honestly be a meal on its own. It's served on delicious pizza dough and piled high with fresh mozzarella, pesto, tomatoes, garlic, and basil. Between the two of us, we barely made a dent--definitely a great starter to share with a group. The Insalata Cesare was also the perfect size for two to share. I ordered the Lasagna with pink sauce--super flavorful, rich, and cheesy. I'd absolutely get it again. I ended up taking about half home since we had already eaten so much. My husband got the Linguini Crostacei and loved it--so much so that he actually took leftovers home, which neverhappens! Of course, we saved room for dessert. The chocolate mousse was fabulous--rich, smooth, and beautifully served in a martini glass. Overall, we loved our experience and it definitely lived up to the great reviews we've heard. The portions are very generous, so next time we might skip the appetizer or share a main--but having leftovers isn't a bad thing! I also saw online that they offer a family-size meal option, which sounds like a great idea for a future family dinner.

UPDATE: Last night, we came for another date night dinner. Our waitress was clearly much friendlier with the next table, off the bat. For example, she offered them the specials etc and did not even mention them to us. Initially put appetizer, meatballs w ricotta had an eyelash in it but not wanting to ruin the mood, I just cleaned it off and we still ate the dish. However, later on, my entree had another thin hair I discovered while halfway into my dish. I felt that 2 of 4 dishes was unusual and did bring it to the attention of the waitress when she returned to check on us. Instead of an apology, I was told that this had "never happened before in all the years she worked there." I felt that was a disingenuous response and not probable either. She did not offer to comp the second dish. The service left a lot to be desired and despite the food being tasty, the whole experience left me less than welcome. -------------- I'm so impressed with this little Italian gem right here in old orcutt! In the past, my partner and I have often ventured out of town for date nights but I am so happy to find a great option close to Our server, Charlee, was fantastic - it was some of the best service I've had in years! The food was delicious and my partner and I enjoyed an intimate quiet summer evening out front of the restaurant. Surprisingly we were the only ones out front but we did not get forgotten! They offer indoor seating as well as covered patio and tables out front. I am already planning our next date night back!

A coworker reccomended this place to me as his favorite place to eat in Orcutt/ Santa Maria, and this place WAS AMAZING. Truly a 10/10 and I already can't wait to come back. Located in Orcutt, I pulled up to a house looking resteraunt. As soon as you walk in through the main doors, you will find yourself in the bar area where the hostess is stationed. We came by on a Thursday night with no reservations at 6pm and we got seated right away. Nice bar area with a good cocktail/ wine list. They serve espresso so that's a plus for me. Their food menu also is of good variety. I decided to go with the Pumkin Ravioli and it was hands down PHONEMENAL. 10/10 The pasta was fresh and the sauce was just incredible. My wife grabbed a Ceaser salad with a side basket of bread and she loved her meal. Do your life a favor and come by here, so worth it! Thanks Trattoria Uliveto for the amazing food!

Valdostana chicken entree with vegetables /mashed potatoes

This place is a nice spot in Orcutt. We wanted Italian food so we decided to try this place. They have bread for a $5 charge with oil and balsamic. It was very good! It tasted like pizza dough, slightly charred but delicious. I got the Valdostana dish with a side of veggies and pasta. Admittedly, I wouldn't get the veggies again. For $4 they give this with less pasta but the vegetables were not hot when I had them. I was disappointed that the vegetables were lukewarm. The flavors were definitely on point with the chicken. It was super juicy and flavorful. I loved the fresh sage and prosciutto. I'm toggling between a 3 and a 4. I thought the food was good, but also a bit surprised with the upcharges with certain items. They do lay the oil heavy but it made the dish very delicious. I'd try other items but would probably skip the side of veggies (since it wasn't hot! And not very memorable).

We ordered 2 chicken entrees here: Valdostana and Mushroom Marsala. Both dishes tasted pretty great, especially the Valdostana. The fillet of chicken is layered with prosciutto and mozzarella cheese and baked to a crisp. If you opt for a side pasta, it comes drizzled in oil and garlic. It might be too greasy for some but we loved it. What's not so great here is the price. I felt that we were being nickel and dimed for every little thing. For instance, unlike most other Italian restaurants, the bread here is not free. But for $5, you do get some pretty damn amazing bread. No free refills though. Also, with the chicken entrees you get a choice of a side of pasta or vegetables. If you opt for both it's an extra $4. My wife got that but it only came with half portion of pasta and a few spinach leaves, 2 slices of carrots and some mashed potatoes. It looked pretty sad to be honest. I will say this place has pretty cool ambiance with festive Christmas decors inside and outside.

I love this place. Whether you were dining in or getting it delivered you can't go wrong. Everything we've tried has been delicious. I've tried the Bolognese, I have tried several different pizzas and salads from there as well and they have all been impeccable. The ambience of this restaurant is very cozy and warm feeling. The employees there are wonderful. They are so kind, and so accommodating. They will answer any questions you have, and you will never feel forgotten about at this restaurant.

A very nice Italian restaurant that serves upscale Italian food. When I say "upscale", I mean they really have the intention to serve food at a more elevated level, versus home style cooking that your mom might make. The servers are dressed consistently in professionally attire, without it being clearly fancy or snooty. The hostess was warm and inviting, the young man that served us water and poured our oil and vinegar was very polite and conscientious. As for the food, it's very good and delicious. There's always some gap between your idea of perfection and what typically gets served, but when what's served is well within what is normal for that kind of dish, any gaps are attributable to difference in taste. For example, my pesto pasta was more creamy in nature with some pesto taste, but not a pesto sauce with a touch of cream. So it was richer and creamier than my preference, but not at all subpar to an objective standard. My wife's chicken masala was cooked well, but she found it a bit saltier than she would have liked. But we try to eat healthy and normally fault on the side of less salt for health reasons. See what I mean? So I would definitely recommend this place and would look forward to trying other menu items. The steak I saw served to the next table was HUGE, the salmon special looked delicious, etc. So the 4 star review isn't from the standpoint of disappointment, but more representative of the gap in preferences to our specific tastes. Price wise, it's not inexpensive, but not exorbitant either. For 3 of us, with one beer, one dessert, $5 bread (w/oil and vinegar), and 3 entrees (the one not pictured was a pizza), it was about $40/person out the door. So, for us, not an everyday type of restaurant, but well within reason for a nice night out or definitely reasonable for a special occasion.

Wow! This is a great spot. Great food, great service and great atmosphere…read more We had eaten at Jackos Steakhouse the night before and were so disappointed. Almost didn't come here as thought we'd end up with the same... Upon walking in we were greeted by hostess right away asking if we wanted to dine in bar, dinning room or patio. It was a nice night and contemplated patio but the bar lounge area looked inviting and chose the space with hair on hide backed booth and comfy chair. I settled in the corner booth, it was so comfy. Such a nice treat from the night before on hard wooden chairs at that other place... Our waitress was so nice and friendly. She was slammed but very attentive. Sitting back and watching the very busy bar, you saw locals coming and going and staff knowing them all. So encouraging. We settled in on the Bullseye, the largest version aka Ribeye and shared it. I went ahead and added an extra salad for me and just shared the rest of sides. Comes with a shrimp cocktail with the babiest shrimp, I've never seen them that tiny. I don't rate sea food so I just watched. The hubs likes sea food but prefers fried shrimp. He ate a few bites but again it's not really his thing. I got the side salad with ranch and he got clam chowder. He loved his clam chowder. I was pleasantly surprised at the mixed green salad. Everything was great! Steak cooked perfectly with great taste and tender. Baked potato was so good. The beans had a great taste, I'm not a huge bean person but something was up and I enjoyed a few bites and two slices of bread drenched in the bean gravy juice, so good! I asked for a side of chimichurri sauce (saw it on the menu), I used that for my steak and it was a great flavor adder; it didn't need it I'm just a sauce condiment person. We were stuffed but I decided to get dessert to go. Settled on the flourless chocolate mousse cake. Before leaving notice a couple tables over had what looked like a chocolate cake square with ice cream on top. I was hoping that wasn't what I ordered... because I was expecting more torte/mousse. Upon arrival at our RV I checked and yes I got what I was expecting! Even stuffed I just had to have a bite, OMG! So amazing. The slice of mousse cake/kinda like a soft torte came with fresh raspberries, strawberries and mint. A bite of that chocolate with a berry was heaven! The restaurant has such a great feel, think decor you'd find at ranches in Texas, plush seating, cattle pictures. We felt at home and can't wait to come back. Planning on the hubs getting his chowder us sharing beef skewers and a twice baked potato. He might just get two bowls of chowder! Then more dessert as they have a pastry chef on staff who likes to change up offerings.

Every venue in town had either an academic graduation, a sports celebration, or just a large party of some sort, so booking a place was hard. When I called Giavanni's, our favorite restaurant for the past 9 years, I expected the same response as I got from the other restaurants. We were instantly greeted by Mark and asked what brought us in today. We let him know we wanted to do a tasting and he let us know that his selection today was from Thatcher. There was a rose and a few red blends and a Syrah. All very tasty. Mark was educated and well informed in the blender and his styles and profiles as well as the offerings and gave us notes with each pour and answered any questions.
