Canceled an expedia reservation well within the time window. Travelodge charged my card anyway. Called and spoke to an uncooperative employee who barely spoke english. His manager refused to come in and deal with the issue. Disputed charge with my bank. I travel to Eski regularly and have stayed here many times but won't be doing so again. read more

The Travelodge is a good place to stay of you can't find a place to live in Escanaba. It's clean and will maintained. There is breakfast in the morning from 6-10pm. A lot of people that can't find a place to live are looking to the travel lodge is a place to stay. read more

I would give a zero or below if I could. Following in conjunction with Zach S. and Lauren L. There are 100% bedbugs in room 224, and probably in other rooms too. There were 4 adults in the room, 2 full sized beds (pretty sure they were supposed to be queen) and a kitchenette area. It was a bit run down and smelled a little musty. Aside there being bedbugs, our room wasn't cleaned once during the two nights we were there. Housekeeping came in and took our towels out, did not replace them and we had to ask for towels and toilet paper later on. It was a few hours after that we started talking about how these bites that had formed on our skin did not look or feel like mosquito bites, and decided to search the room. I found exoskeletons near the front of the bed, along with hair, food crumbs, and dust, and the bedbugs were in the corners of the bedframe. We were literally sleeping with the bedbugs right near our heads. I've never had welts of this size on my body before. Not only am I having a horrible allergic reaction to these bites, housekeeping blew, the manager did not care that there were bedbugs, (they probably already knew) and we only got a refund for the 1 night we didn't stay because we were too disgusted to stay in another room. read more

Was clean. Soft sheets and towels. New soft blankets. Air/heat/water worked fine. Comfortable very large king bed. Nice staff. Certainly could use updated carpets etc and a handy person with some pride in workmanship but you will get a good nights sleep. read more

Bedbugs are infesting Room 224 in this hotel. (Writing this review on 8/3/2020, in conjunction with Zach S.'s 1 star review). Four (4) adults slept in Room 224 of this hotel, a decently sized room with two double beds and a kitchenette/eating area. Initially, we had a reservation to stay for three (3) total nights. On the second night of our stay, we all started noticing bug bites forming on various parts of our bodies. At first we thought--no biggie, this is the Upper Peninsula, there are LOTS of mosquitoes! We soon discovered that wasn't the case. We noticed that quite a few of the bites were grouped together in clusters and lines (see photos)... a sure sign of bedbug bites. Immediately after this realization, we started searching the beds, and found bedbugs alive and lurking underneath the mattress AND in the corners of the headboards (see other photos). After this discovery, we went down to the lobby and politely informed the gal working the front desk that there were bedbugs in room 224. She apologized and called her manager, who must not have been on site. Apparently, the manager told her over the phone that "no one would be available to inspect the room" that evening or help us out, and she asked if we wanted to switch rooms. As far as we know, this manager did not even take the time to come over to the hotel and remedy the situation or call an emergency exterminator. We were so disgusted by the thought of staying in another room in this hotel that we obviously declined. Based off the very nonchalant way this hotel and manager handled this situation (which could easily lead to a further infestation), our assumption is that this hotel is probably aware of the bedbug issues and intentionally doesn't do much about it. Despite asking, we were not given any sort of refund or credit except for one (1) night of our stay (the night we left the hotel because we were so disgusted). The four of us are covered in DOZENS of inflamed bites and swollen welts. We're also having severe allergic reactions. All because of this hotel's poor cleanliness. And that's not all: our room was not thoroughly cleaned ONCE the entire duration of our stay. Our beds never got made or cleaned once. We literally had to ask for clean towels and more toilet paper. ** Seeing that people who have stayed after us also encountered bed bugs - know this has now allegedly been a problem for months at this place. ** Had a reservation here for mid-late June. When we arrived, the check in process was taking a while, and the desk lady said it was her first day, she got hired during a walk in interview and was put right to work. I wasn't sure if she was making a joke (like when people trip and joke "I don't walk much!") or not, but it turns out it was true, because the entire staff (according to their temp manager who we spoke to in person several times) had quit the day before and walked off the job, so the temp manager was from another property and they were hiring all new staff. While we were being checked in, a lady came up to the desk and said the room she'd just been put in was dirty. They moved her to a different room, apologizing and saying they weren't sure which rooms were clean since housekeeping had also left the previous day. We went up to our assigned room at the same time as she got assigned a new one, and our assigned room was also dirty. We came down to the desk, they apologized, and put us in another room. The lady came down and said she was leaving, since the new room she was put in was, again, not cleaned. The second room they put us in was clean, but the radiator had fallen off the wall and was lying on the carpet, and we could see it had been previously held together by duct tape. I photographed it and went to the desk to show them, saying we were okay with it, we'd stay there, but we just wanted to document it so we weren't charged when we were out. Manager said no problem, he knows we didn't do it. We go to dinner, watch some tv, and notice the bed bugs when we were starting to get ready for bed. At this point, we aren't comfortable moving rooms (which it would be the second time) and just want to leave. I gave my travel partner a list of hotels to call, and while she arranged a new reservation I went down to the desk to tell them we were leaving and why. The person at the desk (different from earlier as shift change had happened) was upset at the news and started apologizing profusely, said they were new and didn't know how to do refunds, and would have to call their mom to ask (I assume their mother was either another temp manager or married to the temp manager or something, but I don't know). They told me the refund would be processed at 7am the next morning (keep in mind, this was in June, I am writing this in August). I said that was fine. They apologized again, and I said look, I know you all are new and none of this is your fault, as long as we get our refund without any issues, it's all good, I won't complain, I won't name the hotel anywhere, I won't leave a bad review. We left, drove to Manistique (an hour away but on our route for the next day) and found last minute budget lodging there. Well, I'm leaving a bad review because our refund didn't come through, when we called days later to ask we were told it was coming (but it was unclear if they'd forgotten to do it and were just starting to process it after we called or if they were claiming it just hadn't gone through to us yet but it was pending). The charge settled (from a pending charge) and the refund never came, so we disputed with the credit card company, a dispute that is still ongoing. The only, ONLY reason this review is two stars and not one is because providing the staff were telling the truth (and I do think they were) they all had been on the job less than 24 hours, and as a former hotel employee (for 3 years) I know how overwhelming all that can be even when management is solid - and there's clearly something going on with the higher ups at that place if there was a coordinated walkout of all staff. Everyone we interacted with in person was polite and apologetic. But we should not have to work this hard for a refund especially when we knew management was on site (as we'd spoken to them at check in) and they sure as h*ll know how to do a refund. read more

This hotel has bedbugs. Got bitten up on the 2nd night and had to cancel our 3rd. Not sure if it was the website we booked through or this hotels fault for refunding, but we only got one night refunded but not the night in which we were getting eaten alive. This hotel was barely clean, and nobody came in to refresh any towels or TP until we asked. read more

We were very pleased with this hotel. The front desk gal was very friendly and helpful in directing us to where we wanted to go. Our room was very clean and had a hair dryer, fridge and microwave. We recently stayed in a hotel and paid more that didn't have any of these. The breakfast was ok. Not a lot of options but what was offered was fresh and the kitchen area was very clean. It is next to the fairgrounds so they started a bit early but not something the hotel could control but something to note when staying. read more

In the first 30 minutes we had to call to ask how to reset air conditioner, switch on the wall with no label. Hair in supposedly clean bed, only one worker so we changed it ourselves. Now we are waiting for desk clerk to tell us how to get to stations on the tv, currently just fuzz. Yes, I tried everything and even googled it! But really should I have to fix the tv, air conditioner and change my own bed? Thought I'd send a review in before it got any worse. One good thing, newly remodeled! read more

Worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. Room was dirty, bed was spooky, and I had to wait three hours to get into the room. I understand understaffed problems but there were dirty cobwebs and disgusting rings in bathtub. They offered no form of breakfast, but even grab and go. read more

Not a place to stay! we arrived to find the place had no thermostat cover and couldn't adjust the heat. Front desk said open a window. Painters tape on windows and doors no trim in bathroom. Drywall dust over everything. A two inch gap at the bottom of the door where someone could put a coat hanger under the door and hit the handle and open it. Front desk did not seem to care of our issues and said leave a bad review and maybe the owner will look into it. Breakfast was less then what you would expect. By 7:30 they were wiped out and basically said oh well. Very disappointed in the lack of professionalism. Never again please don't stay there. read more

The worst hotel experience EVER. Mattress was horrendous, zero toiletries in the bathroom, two night stay and they didn't take our dirty towels and give us clean ones, we had to program the tv to get any channels, they had free WiFi but when you tried to connect it said no internet connection, no breakfast yet said on the phone two days before checking in that "yes" they had breakfast. It also says on their sign free breakfast. Don't tell people this and not do it "because of COVID" change your sign Trash cans outside entrance overflowing for three days and never emptied. read more
