There is not many diners like this around any longer. We went for breakfast / lunch, and it was everything that was expected. Just a little diner with friendly wait staff, hot coffee and a delicious breakfast. Not many places you will find that are open 24 hours. The breakfast was hot and delicious and the potatoes were on point. The place was well kept, and clean, for the age I was expecting that just a little bit more dinge, I was pleasantly surprised. The only odd part about this entire experience is the dishwasher on the front line behind the counter. Not in a bad way, just odd LOL. I have known about this place for 30 years but never had occasion to go there until today and boy, was I disappointed. The first thing I noticed was the dead bugs lining the windowsills which did not inspire my appetite. The club sandwich I ordered had two thin slices of grilled ham on it and overall was skimpy. I understand the place is old but It is dingy and feels dirty. I sat there with an empty water the majority of the meal and the girl never asked if I wanted a refill. Good greasy fresh off the grill comfy food! Burgers, breakfast, coffee, fries and all! Hours are different from the past because you could go and sit in the diner late night after going out like 2am and your table of people was not the only one there. Unbiasedly, there's a lot to dislike about Travis. The service is hit or miss, it definitely isn't the cleanest place in the world, and they charge a 3.5% service charge for card payments. If you're wondering why I'm still giving it a 5 star rating, it's because their cheap, greasy burgers are the best in the Grosse Pointe/St Clair Shores area. They still taste the same as I remember them as a young teenager. As long as that stands, I'll continue recommending Travis and giving them my business. read more

Hole in the wall places turn out to be some of the best places! Travis is a SCS staple and has been for well over 50 years. It wasn't until recently that I've tried it for the first time. Travis is known for their sliders, in addition to their assortment of diner options. Due to the pandemic they are now option from 6am - 10pm instead of their posted hours of 24 hours. Completely understandable. You can certainly tell everyone at Travis' takes pride in their food, as everything is fresh. The slider buns are the perfect amount of doughy and soft. The onions are grilled, but never burnt. The sliders are a decent size, as well. Six sliders runs you about $12 (this was the Doordash price. Not sure what it is in store) For around $20 you can get a 6 pack of sliders, onion rings and fries and a large shake. Perfect for a family to share. Can't wait to try more options soon! read more

I ordered the Super Breakfast, 2 eggs, hash browns, toast, 1 slice ham, 1 sausage patty and 3 pieces of bacon $7.65. it has been too long since I found a restaurant that understands that means crunchy on the outside, which Travis coffee shop does. The rye bread toast was hot and crunchy. The sausage patty had a nice peppery flavor. Staff extremely friendly and attentive. Great value for the price.. Great pick for a great slider! My wife and I were craving sliders so we decided to go for a drive(we live in Troy). This was immediately a fantastic decision! My wife is from Livonia and swears by Bates but she did enjoy her sliders. I love these and would make the drive again just for the sliders. Only negative was the coney. Beans in the chili. But the woman who took our order was the cutest old woman ever! I would also make the drive back to see her again. We stopped by recently for breakfast while out running errands. Since there is no dine in option I walked in and placed my order. The employees all seemed to take covid precautions and there was sanitizer available for guests. Ordered a standard breakfast (eggs, sausage, hash browns) and their breakfast wrap. All pretty much what I expected. The service was great, though. The cashier after taking my order and payment then said she'd bring it out to the car when it was done. read more

The food is still greasy and good. The waitress was friendly and very kind. She also wore her mask the whole time as did the other female employee that was sweeping the floor while we were there. All 3 men working had their masks on their chins, including the cook. The cook cooked all the food, and for us dropped it at our table without his mask covering his mouth or nose. The manager (I think) spent the whole time going from the grill area to the back (restocking?) With his mask on his chin. The third male employee (also chin masker) spent 90% of the time we were there complaining about someone else that worked there. And the icing on the cake and final straw for me, the cook came back from his smoke break and rinsed his hands for 5 seconds (no soap) before starting to cook again. I'm praying this was a one-off and I caught them on a very bad night, not how they normally operate. I've been there plenty of other times and not had this experience, I think with everything going on and where we were sitting i just noticed more. read more

Ah what to say, this has been a favorite of mine for years. Always have gotten the sliders and always will. Three absolute joys of meat, bun, grilled onion , pickle, catsup and mustard. The burgers were grilled to perfection, the onions perfectly carmelized and bun steamed . The pickles were thin sliced. The fries were typical diner fries but fried nicely. I had a large coke so kudos for that. The only problem with this visit our server never came back after we got our food. So there was no refills. But those little burgers that's what will keep me going back. read more

You know what to expect at Travis, you come for the burgers, not to have a healthy meal. If you're ready to throw out your diet plan and indulge in a bit of greasy spoon food this is the place to come. It has a classic diner feel, nothing fancy, but very serviceable. The service has always been good when I've been there, no complaints in that department. The burgers are delicious and you can order them with or without all the extras. Stopped here on the way through The Shores. They were having some issues on the day we stopped, and if took a while to get served, but it was uphill from there. Our server was trying her hardest, and she took good care of us. I had a bacon cheeseburger and chili cheese fries, and it hit the spot. The burger was delicious, a good sized patty, like a big sider. The thin cut onions were seared into it, and if was nice and juicy. You could tell this was a hand-made burger, nice and irregular. The chili cheese fries were good, although I expected cheese sauce and not melted American slices. Still, they were nicely melted and the chili had a good flavor, it's definitely not your standard Coney from a can (or freezer). Everything else we had was also good, and our waitress stopped by enough to make sure we were good. Hopefully the rest of her day was looking up from that point. As long as you set your expectations accordingly (it is a dive, make no mistake) and stay out of the restroom (my wife was horrified), you'll do fine. And you'll get some tasty grub. read more

A cooked to death burger with about 10 (no exaggeration) French fries was the last straw. I'm sorry, but Covid did not make everybody forget how to cook. Man this used to be the spot! 20 years ago I would come in with me best friend and play the golf game they had and just down some delicious burgers and fries. What happened? I took that same best friend out here to reconnect and we were just both so disappointed at what this place had become. I would love to take my kids here and keep my tradition alive but not with how this place is now. I hope they bring in the quality of the food and fun atmosphere. It's a smaller place but there's many simplistic things that could really make this place pop and be a great hang out! My fiance and I stopping at this old school joint at a recommendation from a local. They have blocked out tables for spacing and all staff were wearing masks appropriately. We ordered six slider cheeseburgers, Vegetable Beef soup, and split a plate of fries and a chocolate milkshake. The food hit the spot and we were pleased at the inexpensive lunch and friendly service. We were in and out in no time post relaxing lunch and took the milkshake to go! Just like my Grandma used to make it- Gallon bucket ice cream and just the right amount of chocolate syrup (I didn't see if it was Hershey's, but I can almost bet it was).
