This came up on my Instagram feed and I just wanted to go try it. Oh my gosh am I glad I did. It's an East side gem. The place is an old style diner with friendly service affordable prices and delicious food. Our server was remarkably kind and patient. It's a charming atmosphere with an extensive menu, and I know breakfast can be kind of generic but there was something about it that both of us mentioned at the same time that this was like the breakfast we used to get when we were kids and we went out for a special Sunday morning family breakfast together, if that makes sense? Yummy....I got the chicken sciliano, it comes with spaghetti, a lot of spaghetti. Two good chicken breast, and I love the ammoguio sauce. Not sure how to spell it, but don't forget it! garlicy tomato concoction to dip the chicken breast in. Loved it. You could get one dinner for two people. My husband and I come here after working the midnight shift and we are always welcomed with a smile!! Their breakfast is fantastic and always hits the spot. The carry out boxes are always messed out. You can tell they sit in the window and burned and they just rubberbaneded the box and said it was good enough. Personally, that's not acceptable when you're a paying customer. Service is sub par, the servers are constantly picked on by red necks so I'm not surprised they're worn out. They don't know how to cook eggs correct. Not sure what has changed over the last few years with management but the food quality has gone down forsure. read more

We stopped through Palmer's for breakfast randomly when the place we were headed to was closed. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who made us feel at home. She was enthusiastic when asked about the menu items and she provided great service throughout our meal. The food was homemade and delicious! Must say- there are many diners and coneys in this area that seem to miss the mark on flavorful meals despite being home cooked. Palmers is great at home cooking and comfort food. We truly enjoyed our meal- enough to return for dinner 3 days later. The atmosphere feels friendly neighborhood, the service is top notch, the food is delicious, the prices are fair. Portions are decent. Only downfall- pop is 2.25 with one free refill. Not a big pop drinker but worth mentioning. read more

Went in late Sunday morning and got seated right away, had the Palmers special 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon slices, a slab o ham, and a pile of hash browns, with some iced tea, I didn't get hungry again till 7o'clock at night. Good food great service and plenty of it. read more

We rather enjoy Palmer's. Their breakfasts are phenomenal and their menu has a wide variety. I have only had the chicken parmigiana for dinner because it's so good I don't want to try anything else. My only complaint would be that during the Sunday breakfast rush the place can be a little small for the number of tables so it feels crowded and kind of loud. read more

This place is awful. It's no wonder it's filled with old people that have no tastebuds. Their food is horrible. They have absolutely the worst hash browns that I've ever had, bar none. The atmosphere is quaint, and it's an "everyone knows everyone" sort of place, but you don't feel out of place. You get the feeling that if you went there more than a couple of times they would know your name and everything you generally order. That said, the food isn't worth ordering. It's flat out horrible. Their has browns had no flavor, their soup looks like it's from a can, the eggs had no buttery flavor, even their breakfast meat was subpar. I stay right down the street on a great number of occasions, but I'll drive right by this joint to go somewhere else. Noni's? Red Olive? National? All better options. I've been passing this place up for a greasy spoon that old people lacking taste buds go to. But I ate here once and fell in love with their food. The place is, quite honestly, a tad grungy in that old, worn, but clean kind of way. I ordered the stuffed cabbage with rice pilaf. As a side note, you Metro Detroiters don't realize what a nice option rice pilaf is over potatoes--it's great! It's one thing I miss about the area after having moved out of state....but I digress. The pilaf was savory with nicely seasoned tomato "gravy". I also ordered the split pea soup--some of the best split pea soup I've ever had, containing lean ham and not too overly salty--the way most diners do. Oh and the prices are crazy low for the quality and quantity of food! My mom had the chicken parmesan. She let me have some, and I though that it would be really sub-par, but was honestly surprised at how savory and meaty the sauce was, and the chicken was very nicely seasoned with a light batter. The owner's wife was sitting at the counter, and gave me the evil eye when I got a little animated about the food. But being Greektalian I got to get excited a little! We'll be back! read more

Usually the food is ok but today ordered the hamburger and egg breakfast. Eggs way over cooked and hamburger was hard over cooked couldn't even eat the service was slow no water or coffee for 15 minutes tables got served prior to us that came in 10 minutes after us. The waitress didn't even ask me if I wanted a box I ate 2 bites and put on the side. I give four instead of three stars because my family and I (theres at least 6 total) come here every sunday after church. We know all the waitresses and they know us and what we usually order. The food is pretty simple but I think its great. My 4 year old loves two eggs over medium and they are always great and I trust them. We have pretty much tried everything on the menu and I haven't found something I don't like.
