Walked in to get my disability placard and sit down for about 30 seconds and they called my name I think I was there 5 minutes

This was a very easy process, considering I sat there without filling out the papers first. By the time I realized I needed to fill out the Registration Papers, my number was called. I think I caught on five minutes before when I was helping this lady fill out her registration papers. You see, English was her second language, so I was helping her, and that's how I found out I should be filling out papers, too. I told her she needs to be helping me. But it got worse on my end and the lady's end that I was helping. I got to the counter, and the nice lady told me we were supposed to be filling out the New State Registration Papers. So, with all that being said, the process did not take no more than 30 minutes. It was still a quick process. Yes, I suggested taking another number and starting from scratch, and the process was still fast. Now, let me tell you a little about the building. I parked toward the front. But that isn't where you go inside. The front door is in the back of the building. I parked in the wrong area. Also, as you go inside, you can use your phone to get a number or check in on the computer. Also, there are two lobbies--one to the right and one to the left. You can't see the one to the right. I needed to renew my handicap placard for the next 6 months and was looking for a place close to home and found this site. I can't speak to their low ratings, but my experience was quite different. First off I parked on the wrong side of the building and like a dumbass forgot my phone in the car. I entered the office which was very quiet and not too busy, small and clean. I checked in on the pad and then realized I needed my cell phone to be aware of when it was my turn, so I went to hobble out and get my phone when a lady came out the door and said come back in I will take care of you. Yolanda was exceptional. She was aware of my situation as she had been in the same spot. She was so sweet and easy going. I was in and out in under ten minutes. Today, Thursday afternoon, at 1 pm I went to the Oakhill Travis County Tax Office location to change a car title into a family members name. I was there perhaps 10 minutes. I was called up to the window and had the pleasure of receiving a very nice young man to assist me. Believe me, I'm not an expert or even knowledgeable of understanding the transferring process, but Emmanuel Effiong walked me through the process making the entire ordeal very enjoyable. Registering a new car is never fun....well maybe. Normally that is the case but Ms Yolanda Rogers at station one is AWESOME at her customer service!!! I watched five tax-payers before I was called up to the window. She went out of her way to help each of us. When she was unsure of the code, she asked for help from peers or went to the regulation books. When one of her peers that attends the drive through was busy, she paused assisting me to get the drive up person started in filling out forms. Welcome to Texas! This office on Foothills Farms Loop won't help you. Nor will their ill informed security guard that won't let you enter the building during business hours. He insisted that you need to set an appointment on their website. I questioned again as I was SENT TO this office from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles with printed instructions from them (pics 1 and 2). The paperwork HE gave me stated select a location HQ and Oak Hill offices ONLY-not Pflugerville) so I asked and he said it's outdated info. NOPE-looked it up in my car and the Constable that was there confirmed can't set an appt at Pflug. This after waiting to get an inspection and having every piece of paperwork required-why so difficult to help someone TRYING TO PAY YOU money to register their out of state vehicle and do the right thing. Here's an idea, make it EASIER to abide by the law-maybe one office like other states do it and not misinformation from each visit causing confusion and frustration. I had to transfer a car title to myself, so the dreaded visit to the County Tax Office was inevitable. This is my first time going through this process by myself, and paranoia kicked into overdrive as I was expecting the worst. In typical Henry fashion, my anxiety woke me up before my alarm, and I ended up getting there at 7:25, a full 35 minutes before they open. I was the first person there and the next person didn't show up at the front door till 7:40. Note that this was a Tuesday morning on the 24th, so of course YMMV. By the time the doors opened, there were about eight people waiting with me. The office was really small with only three service stations, so I can see how lines can get pretty lengthy if there are any holdups. You walk in, grab a number, and sit down until your number is called or shows up on the screen. There's also a screen outside, so you can wait out there if the waiting area is filled up. I was seen by Rosemarie Garcia, and while she wasn't exactly cheerful and super friendly, she wasn't rude either. I'd say a 7 on the Happy Scale. I'll take it. The car title cost me $107.25, and I was out the door 15 minutes later. Definitely went a lot better than I expected, and it certainly pays to get there early if you can. Of course I had all my documents in order and didn't walk in at noon. I can see my ratings fluctuate from 1 to 5 stars on any given visit should complications/conflicts arise, but not bad for my first time here. read more

I lived in Williamson Co for 18 years, and as a household that has a frequent turnover of vehicles, I knew the fairly "well oiled machine" that is the Cedar Park tax office well. After a fairly short Covid shutdown, the office itself has been open to the public and flowing well for over a year. We recently moved just across the county line and the nearest Travis Co tax office (Pflugerville) is an hour away. I took a morning off work to make the trip to transfer the title for a car we got for my son; when I arrived, there was security guard at the door that stopped me and asked if I had an appointment... An appointment? For what should be less than a 5 minute visit? I could understand it 18 months ago, but this is ridiculous. He gave me a number to call to see if there might be any cancellations, so I called to see if I had any options. The woman I talked to on the phone said that cancellations are rare, and that they are scheduling appointments 32 days out... wait, that's longer than the 30 day period that I'm allowed to get the title transferred, which I'm already 1/2 way through, will the penalty be waived? "No sir, you will have to pay the penalty", she said. !?!?!?!?! So, my MIL lives nearby in our old house in WilCo... read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I set an appointment for 11:30am this morning for a title transfer. We were forced to wait for 2.5 hours before we even received notification that a representative was ready for us. What is the point of setting a reservation if it isn't even honored? We had gone home ( 10 min drive) to wait for our number to be called. We eventually received a call from a rep saying that we were first in queue. We left the house and when we arrived, the representative said that she had deleted our queue number because we did not arrive within her 5 minute window. She said that we would have to join the queue again and wait... again. Unbelievable, since we were waiting so long for them and we had booked an official appointment with these people. Our time wasn't respected but they expect us to show them the same courtesy. Choose any other tax office location but this one, because this place is highly unprofessional nor do they have the capacity to deliver quality service to Travis County. Do not ignore the dissatisfactory reviews. If you choose to go to this tax office, don't say you haven't been warned. Good service is far and few between at this office. We are regretful that we even tried utilizing the services at this tax office. I would not recommend, if you value your time and money. I came to this location when it wasn't busy at all. I pulled up to the drive thru for convenience and they didn't say anything after I pressed the button. Then I pressed it again 5 minutes later and got a response saying they'd be right with me. 10 minutes pass and I see 3 different people who arrived after me, finish and leave. So obviously I knew they were ignoring the window. So I pressed again and got no response. I came in and got a number and was seen within 5 minutes. But when I came in, they all gave each other looks and one had the nerve to get up and snicker about me. This is really upsetting because what if I HAD to use the drive thru? What if I was disabled and it was too difficult to get in? Or what if I had a sleeping baby in the car? The drive thru was made for convenience and it is clearly marked for car registrations. If you aren't willing to provide the service, then do not provide the option for your customers. And the sad thing is they were all grown women. In their 40s-50s. Grow up and work like you're suppose to. When I came in, they were all standing around and laughing. Just do your damn job! All in all, don't expect much customer service and DON'T go to the window. I had a great experience, I switched out my title & registration. I got there around 7:45 am and there was about a 15 person line formed already. Once it hit 8 am they had us all check in and get a number. I waited about 45 minutes to finally see someone, but I didn't have an appointment so I expected that. They will text you when it is your turn, so you can wait in your car, which I find great! I had all of my documents ready to go and I was in and out within 10 minutes. My wife waited 22 deep in the auto line last Friday. She got there at 8:00 am. After 30 minutes, not a single car had moved a single spot. She gave up on our car renewal. This Friday I got there at 7:40, 20 minutes before opening and I was still 8 deep in the car line. Knowing how slow they can be on the car line I got out and got in the people line outside the door. There I was 10th in line. Getting out and going in the people line on foot is the way to go. The office is tiny (big enough for 8 people: 4 clerks and 3 customers). I was able to check In with a QR Code and a smartphone (the website is a little slow... be patient). No more paper tickets. Then, I got a text stating I was in line and would get a text when I was close to getting inside. I walked around the block a few times and then I got a text noting that I was 5th in line. At that point I knew to hang out right outside the door. When I got the next text (within 5 min.) I walked in and right up to my counter. The clerk was nice and professional, not overly friendly, but courteous. That was way better than the hung-over clerk nearby who whined to her customer about what a bad day it was and how she didn't want to be there on a busy Friday. On this day the auto line was moving. 3 cars got done in 24 minutes. 7th car was being helped by 8:40. I got in about 8:40 (before the 8th car in line, so I was happy). It seldom happens that any state-run office will get one star from me, much less four, so it must have been a blue moon on a leap year when saturn aligned with neptune, because I am giving this place props! After many hateful and threatening letters from lovely folks at the California DMV reminding me that my registration is expiring, I figured I better get my papers in order here in TX. Growing up here, I have fond (read: foul) memories of the long lines and strange smells of the DPS. So, I was utterly confused when I learned that I had to go to the tax office. What is this tax office? I already did my taxes. What's up? You'll never audit me, f*ckers! I went to the Williamson County tax office in Round Rock which is close to work and after waiting for 20 minutes in a small dingy room on plastic kindergarten chairs, I was told that I can't do it here because i'm a Travis Co resident. But of course. Process driving records for a neighboring county? We don't have the technology for that--that is the stuff of science fiction movies. So I drove my very visibly irritated self over to the Canada of Travis county, aka Pflugerville. Walked into the pretty-much-empty office there and before I could finish writing my name on the sign-in sheet, the lady asked me - "I can help you over here sir." I did the goofy DeNiro thing where he looks around, cocks an eyebrow and says "Me?" "Yes sir. You." A few minutes later I was being handed my license plates (wow - I remember having to wait for them in the mail before!) and being told "you know, we can waive these extra fees since you've been registered in Texas before." Pflugerville happened to be closer than the old airport office this particular day, but it certainly wasn't faster. This tax office location is tiny and is bundled with a community center and social services center. When you see the bingo sign and the flags flapping, just drive around back. Country living at its finest. You have to walk in to grab a paper number and then watch the wall monitor closely to see when your number comes up, because they don't call it out. There were over twenty people waiting that day and only three employees working the counters, so most of us waited around for an an hour to get our car titles transferred or registration stickers or whatever mildly unpleasant task we were attempting. There aren't many chairs inside, and the number indicator outside wasn't working, so those of outside had to continually peer through the tinted windows to keep an eye on our turn. No outdoor seating except the ground. They accept checks without an additional fee and credit cards with a 3 percent fee, because the Great State isn't going to absorb that bank charge, you are. Luckily I had a check and all my docs and my turn went quickly. The Airport Blvd location has a bigger staff, more seating, and a better number call system, however, so if you're thinking you'll save time driving out here, you might want to reconsider. Wow! Jon and I had the same experience at the Travis County Tax Office in Pflugerville. Just like Jon, I hadn't even finished writing my name in before they called me over. Now, I was really dreading registering my car in Texas, mainly because I'd had a name change since my car loan and they refused to change my title or registration until the loan was paid off. Well, I paid it off this autumn, but then New Mexico wouldn't correct my title because I no longer lived there. I took about 2 filing cabinet drawers worth of documentation in with me... and hardly needed any of it. They put all the info into the system for me, did the correction on the title, ordered my personalized plates, issued my paperwork. All in under 10 minutes while being very friendly and nice! Wait a sec.... this was a car registration experience? No way!!! If you live in Travis County, you need to go to the Pflugerville office for all your car registration needs. Katie at the Dept of Tax office, the short blonde, was rude and condescending and is an embarrassment to a office that serves the public. I went to the tax department to register my car and get new plates. Katie was not helpful. She spoke down to me telling me the documents that I brought was unacceptable. The second day when I showed with the documents that she demanded the first day she took them from me, marked them up with a highlighter held them in the air - shaking them at me telling that the information was invalid. My insurance company said they provided me everything I needed and if there was problems the tax office could call. I understand there are polices and process but they should be communicated in a professional manner. After my business was finished I stood back to watched how she interacted with the next CUSTOMER ( yes we are customers) Her behavior and mannerism was pathetic ...so it is my perception this is the way she treats everyone. If you have another option, stay away from this place. It is a small sub station with 3 people. It's old school in that there are only 3 desks and you have take a number to be seen. There are not many seats most people were waiting outside. However, most of those people missed their turn. (They are not too nice about you missing your number. They also fly through the numbers so if you don't jump up in like 30 seconds you will miss your turn.) They stop allowing people to take numbers at 4:30. They literally have an officer standing at the door to prevent anyone coming in. They will ,however, help you if you got a number before 4:30. Waited over an hour and realized my number was skipped so i waited patiently till i could ask them what to do? Well the lady smiled relly big and said you need to get a new number and wait all over. I was sitting in the same seat i sat in yesterday stared at the lady and felt really bad that they treated me like crap but could treat another person differently. Obviously this happens on a daily basis and they choose who they want to be nice to and who they want to be mean to. I looked at the lady who ignored me yesterday and smiled because she knows what she did to me and smiled again... And wanted to be real nice to her and thank her for being so awesome...?... but what can I do except let it go and get the hell out of there and never turn back read more

It's always pretty busy in here. I don't think there is a slow time but they have always been pretty nice and courteous, even if you don't have all your paperwork together, go prepared, makes life easier. The have a number system with a sign outside to see what number it's on. read more

The wait time was fine. As with everything in Texas, the rules in Travis County are different from the ones in other counties. Where we were expecting to pay $52 dollars up front and $90 within 30 days, we were actually in need of $180ish dollars or so. Not their fault that I didn't have enough money, but the attendant definitely could have been kinder about it and just explained that it's different here than other counties. The Texas State Government website is not at all helpful when trying to determine what you'll need in Travis County. So the Tax Office website for the county is the best resource: http://www.traviscountytax.org/goVehiclesRegistration.do The woman did misquote to me how long you have to get a new license. According to the DMV it's 90 days. She insisted it was 30. read more

The short blonde woman, I believe Katie is her name, mentioned in many of these reviews is exactly what everyone has said. She is curt, condescending, rude and a terrible person to interact with. I understand that its not the most fun job to have but i would expect some form of politeness. Not only was she rude and unpleasant, she also gave me the wrong information TWICE forcing me to come back again (after going to the larger Airport Blvd. office where they also misinformed me- at least the guy helping me had a better attitude.) I went to the office on Monday morning around 11:30a. I took a number and waited outside. Fortunately, the weather was nice so it was a good day to do so. I waited approximately 30 mins or so and my number came up. I went to the line that Yolanda was working. She was also simultaneously working the drive-thru window. She was very friendly and helpful. I had all of my paperwork in order because I utilized the information online. I am guessing this is the about the 4th or 5th time that I have come to this location, and I think they do a great job. She helped me renew my car registration over the phone and even sent me an email receipt so I could keep it for my records. It made my hectic morning much better and I am very impressed with the personable and considerably kind service that Joann was able to provide, especially considering that most reps who take phone calls are either rude or will just transfer you to someone else because they don't know how to help you. Obviously you are going to wait to complete the chore of getting your vehicle registered. I went on a Monday at 2PM (on voting day) and waited just under an hour. I do not think that wait-time is TERRIBLE. There was a drive thru window, however it seemed to be moving pretty slow too. However, you do get to sit in the comfort of your A/C car while waiting in line so it would not hurt to check that out. I highly recommend that you do not go if the weather is hot, humid or rainy. There are very few seats inside so the majority of people wait outside. Once you get to the clerk, they are extremely thorough, helpful and cheerful. I had no issues with customer service. read more
