I've been a member of this branch since 2006, back when it was Metro 1 Credit Union. When the 2011 merger with Travis Credit Union happened, I was anxious--I didn't know them yet. That anxiety didn't last long. Since 2011, the service and culture here have been nothing short of outstanding. TCU Richmond is what a credit union is supposed to be: an authentically democratic community institution. Housing, healthcare, education, banking--it all works better when people are partners and co-owners, not just profit-centers for distant shareholders. There is no better value in an institution than its service to the People. Travis Credit Union operates on genuine community-first service. Two people in particular make this branch extraordinary: Indira Simon (Sr. Financial Service Rep) and Sue Odah (Sr. Branch Manager). (Over the years I've had business and personal checking and savings accounts, a home equity loan, a car loan, and other financial services.) Indira has heard all about my adventures over the last 10 years. When I left my job at Saint Mary's College in 2016 and spent years doing off-the-information grid field research (including through COVID), transitioning back to a radically changed world wasn't easy. (Still isn't.) Through all of it, Indira listened. Genuinely. She problem-solved. She was honest. She has patiently answered my emails and questions without ever losing warmth or patience. That is so rare. (Wish her a happy 13th TCU anniversary when you see her!) Sue sets that incredible tone for the entire branch. As someone who has documented workplace cultures for my research, I can say firsthand that this branch is a hard-to-find, genuinely valuable community resource. Things are hard for lots of folx right now, and the world is changing rapidly. Someone solid, honest, and who understands what true service means: that's Sue. She's clear, straightforward, and deeply caring. She's one of the good ones. Sue and Indira are the reasons I refuse to change branches, even though I live further away now. DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE. BE AWARE They will discriminate against you during the lending process for your race/religion and other identifying factors that violate the Equal Opportunity Credit Act. They literally had me sign a contract, open a card issued the line of credit issued and even had the card showing up in my account. Then the loan person that had an issue with me personally decided to suspend my card and funding which is now negatively affecting my credit situation because of it. They treated me like a criminal after an approval...I have a 706 score and it was an instant approval with no income docs required...Then everything changed when 1 person got involved well after I was approved...PLEASE SAVE YOURELF THE TROUBLE!! I first walked in there stressing for my own personal reasons, was having a tough time being 30 weeks pregnant. I wish I got her name the woman with the small heart tattoo on her face greeted me, which made me feel good that she was willing to help me out right away. The other woman at the counter heard me out with my situation, she had asked me to take a seat. Introduce me to a woman name Mariah, the comfort this lady gave me she lifted my spirits automatically! I went from feeling a bit depressed to all these people giving me the help and peace that I needed to fill. I left there with a big smile on my face and my heart feeling healed just by getting the help I needed. This location has great staff who care about their members! I went in multiple times to request wire transfers that were very urgent for me. The branch manager Jerrold Mina provided outstanding customer service and ensured that I received services all needed. He was also very cooperative when I asked for his support via email to confirm a transfer. I use to work at the bank. It was a disappointment to make my first appointment (came early to my appointment) to be told I would have to wait like the rest of the walk in due to the staff not being able to figure out who was my appointment with. (Made it over the phone, had a confirmation number and everything. Even the system knew my name and information when I typed my appointment confirmation number) yet I was turned away. As a new client, I was shocked. However the second time going during the week was much better, it seems like the weekend is just not the time to go. read more

I KID YOU NOT! I deposited $300 and the ATM said I deposited only $200. I first deposited $100. Machine took the cash. Originally I thought you had to put it in note by note. Then realized, I can deposit the rest at once. Once I deposited the rest, I noticed it only said I deposited $200. I remove my last deposit; which the ATM returns my $160 and I try it again. Same result. So in my mind I'm thinking okay maybe there's a hold, it's a holiday - whatever whatever.. No, not the case! Furthermore, it took the ATM machine 2-3 long minutes to print my receipt, after I made the request. As that was a sign that the ATM was glitching. Of course, this happened yesterday (a holiday).... So I couldn't call customer service.. I would NOT recommend this bank. Very few of them so you'll add up on your $3 withdrawal fees + $1.50 transaction fees. At least for me, Travis Credit Union has been nothing but a headache. read more

I wanted to close out my account with them since I do have an alternative bank account. I went in and kindly asked the employee that I would like to close my account and the first thing she said in a very rudely manner was "why?" I responded that I have a different account and she said "a more accessible one huh?" I'm sorry if I was working for a company, even if I didn't care about, I'd still put effort into providing customers great service. Additionally, she was having trouble counting money and even gave me the wrong change! You'd think working at a bank, you'd have some knowledge in basic math... I asked for a statement to verify previous transactions are correct and she signed as if it was extra work for her to do. I'm really glad I closed my account. I definitely will tell others not to bank with TCU. Truly disappointed in my experience today with the employee. read more

The Customer Service here is terrible. They take waay too long to help one customer and they don't acknowledge other people In line. The set up to see a Banker for something simple is ridiculous. You have to stand in line for a teller to log you in. The one in Concord and Fairfield have waaay better Service. I have no choice because this spot is closer. Our employees have HSAs at Travis. I called to add another. I've been on hold for over an hour and there is no phone number I can find for the Merced branch. If you call my rinky dink company a live person answers the dam phone. Apparently Travis can't afford that luxury for their clients. I went in for a home loan and the representative was not helpful. She acted as if I couldn't afford it when I had all of my documents ready. They finally forwarded my application to a loan specialist a month later and Aileen had to keep up with her calls which took her 2 months to get back to me. She called again to follow up if I still need their services. You don't need them. I got my house in one month and the loan provider I have was very quick and responsive daily. This branch is lucky they made $22 from me for credit check. I would never do business with them. I was considering opening an account with them too, but after this incident, I would never step foot in there again. read more

Worst online banking ever! I have called customer service I have emailed I have gone to different branches within Vacaville spoke with managers and staff and all and they do nothing to fix the situation! For a while customer services told me because I use a Mac products there system can acknowledge. I even had a gal log on while at the bank she experienced same issues I was describing and she was not on a Mac. I don't recommend them if you want easy banking! read more

I have been banking with Travis Credit Union before it was Travis, I have received excellent service thanks to Diane who works in the Pinole branch. After working with the mortgage dept. in Vacaville going through two different people (turnover I presume ) I was ready to quit). Diane helped me numerous times and saved me money throughout the years. The people on the phone are excellent always friendly ready to help. I was very happy with Travis until they switched their computer system. Now all accounts are tied together in their system. When I go to deposit a check with a teller they put it in the wrong account and I have to move it on their app when I get home. the first time this happened I about had a heart attack because my money missing. It didn't dawn on me to check my other account which has a different ATM card. Also if you don't have internet (yes that is a luxury not all of us can afford) your screwed. This is the second time I can't access my account from my phone. I have tried two times with the phone support and they inform me that I need access it on a personal computer and I am not locked out (they try to help and are very nice). I am at work right now on my break trying to fix this and I can't. I probably will not have access for a few more days because it is a holiday weekend and on my work computer it is saying "access denied" I am so frustrated with this words cannot describe. If I didn't have a loan with them I would close my accounts now! read more

The Richmond branch is conveniently located close to the Hilltop Mall, and the tellers are friendly and competent for the most part. Also, the lines aren't too long, which is nice, since some of the other branches can get busy. However, there was an incident where one of the employees began talking to me about her daughter, and how she was killed in a car accident. Hearing the details of her daughter's death was very upsetting to me, and it wasn't necessary for her to talk about it. read more
