A bit of a hit and miss for me here. The scallop with salmon and the pasta with seasonal veggies were lovely. They have clean flavours, are nicely balanced, and thoughtfully done. The pork belly kimchi, however, leaned a little too fatty for my taste, with a rind that was quite chewy and tough. The kimchi didn't quite cut through the richness. Best restaurant at Niagara on the Lake. This is my second time here and perhaps third if you count the pop up they had down the street during Covid. Service was solid and you can tell they are tilted towards higher end dining. Was great to watch the chef work and run a fine dining system for brunch. Started with the mussels which was a large portion with a great creamy sauce. Was disappointed though because they did not clean the mussels well. About 40% of the mussels had the tough seaweed in them and some had grit as well. Sorta ruined what was a good dish. Homemade rosemary bread was nice. Wife had the lobster club which was nice but could do with a little bit more lobster. At its price point more meat should be had. Th salad was refreshing and the bread was very nice. Goat cheese spread (while light) was a little overpowering and probably shouldn't be in this type of sandwich. I applaud the creativity though. Chicken schnitzel was delicious and large. We visited Treadwell on local recommendation while on vacation in the NOTL area. The service is excellent with an open concept kitchen to those dining indoors. It makes for a very scented and somewhat loud experience. There is outdoor dining available. The sommelier is very friendly and offers a wide range of options to pair with your meal if you choose to forgo the wine pairing that is available with the prix fix menu. Our group of four found the appetizers to be excellent with a number of gluten free options. The entree were okay with one fish dish slightly overdone and sour/ salty and the lamb not properly rendered and also rare instead of medium rare. The deserts were decedent. read more

The Vintage hotels restos are all "hotel," ie mediocre and expensive and the other offerings are good but not in the same league. The food and ambience is very good but for me what stands out are the sommeliers who are passionate and knowledgeable about Niagara wines. Seek their advice. I was lucky enough to be taken to this beautiful farm-to-table restaurant as a combo birthday and congratulations dinner and I can't stop thinking about it a month later. We had an absolutely perfect evening; the service was excellent from both the wait staff and the somm, every single bite of food was prepared expertly, and it was 2 hours with a loved one enwrapped in great conversation, wine, and food sharing. We walked the lovely downtown of Niagara-on-the-Lake after dinner to round out the night. What a special place this is. They proudly showcase where they source all of their ingredients. It would be a neat experience to sit at the counter and watch the chefs at work, everything they created was a total masterpiece. This is small batch cooking. They only have on hand the amount of ingredients for the evening to minimize waste and to keep the menu changing daily, which I love. Easily one of the top restaurants in the Niagara region. We enjoyed the prixe fixe menu which featured four courses with a total of four choices for each! We decided to have our meal with cocktails and beer instead of the wine pairings. Make sure you plan for a leisurely dinner, as ours lasted 3 hours. We sat on the patio and in spite of the light rain, were perfectly dry and comfortable. Our server Yvonne was excellent! She was always at hand if we needed something. We were seated and waited for someone to acknowledge our presence at the counter overlooking the kitchen. The waiter came one time and asked for our drink request. The courses could stand to be a bit more innovative and creative, preferably without the current excessive use of microgreens. The restaurant also does not have the ambiance to justify the price tags. The open kitchen is a standard, but it's placed poorly at the center of the dining room with no noise control, leading to significant noise spilling into our conversation. The decor is definitely a bit dated, with furniture akin to a simple diner or a chain restaurant. Plates are very basic and too small for most of the dishes served. With such a basic menu, lackluster decor and poor dining environment, it felt like I was eating at a Jack Astors paying King West restaurant prices. read more

We decided to check this place out during our weekend NOTL getaway. A farm-to-table restaurant showcasing all the fresh produce that Niagara region has to offer. We got their grilled ribeye and frites. It was delicious but what really blew me away was their Chardonnay steamed P.E.I mussels, in a fennel pollen cream sauce. Super plump mussels in a very rich cream sauce. 5/5. Food is always presented beautifully and the taste is spectacular. Featuring: Pan seared halibut with beets, radishes and greens - perfectly cooked and texture is on point. burrata - made from Buffalo milk it was the perfect appetizer for someone who has lactose intolerance. We made reservations here for a Friday lunch and wow were we impressed! Our server was so on top of everything, so knowledgable and so friendly. She might've been the most perfect server I've ever had. We share two appetizers. We got two different salads one that had beets and one that had tomatoes. I can't pick a favourite they were both so delicious and fresh. They were also surprisingly filling, honestly we could've just had those and what it would been plenty. For the main course we share the steak free. The steak was tasty as was the sauce but the Frites were mine blowing. We are both trying to eat better so we thought we would just try some of the frites but we both destroyed our half portion. Went to Treadwells ahead of our 8pm show. After explaining my diet avoids gluten, soy and dairy our server explained that farm to table meant their was no soy in their menu. After visiting the kitchen he said they were confident they could substitute alternative materials for dairy and gluten in any of their other appetizers and main menu items. This is the first time any restaurant had responded with such a accommodating manner. My wife ordered the yellowfin tuna and the pork rack, while I had the pork belly and halibut for my main. As we waited a bread basket appeared that included toasted GF bread. My wife said her bread was great, but I was pleased that they had heated and salted some GF bread. The appetizer presentation was great for the tuna, while my pork belly in corn succotash had a perfectly crisp skin covering the tender meat. The mains were also very good, but what I didn't realize was my cod came on top of a mix that included tomatoes and bread morsels. To accomplish a GF substation o that mix the chef must of diced and fried the gluten free bread as there it was in the sauce. The combination created an amazing taste. Compliments to the restaurant and servers for creating a perfect custom farm to table meal. I should also mention that as we approached our show time they offered to box our desserts, so we didn't miss out show. read more

An incredible, fine-dining experience. Make a reservation online and prepare to be there for at least 2.5 - 3 hours (you'll need it). We made a reservation to celebrate our wedding / honeymoon and were treated spectacularly. We were greeted with two glasses of champagne as soon as we were seated and a hearty congratulations. Each employee we met with was kind, courteous and HAPPY! Smiles abound and lots of friendly batter between guests and one another. It was really special to see, even while dinner service picked up. Service is impeccable the entire time. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about the restaurant's background, offerings and the NOTL area. She recommended some great wineries for us to check out on our trip, and made us feel really comfortable during our dinner. The food was great and offered lots of choices for all kinds of eaters. Our server double checked our dietary preferences and allergies when ordering as well to make sure we were satisfied with our picks. We were excited to be more adventurous and try unique dishes from the menu, and Treadwell supported along our journey. Order what you think you'll enjoy, but stay open-minded when perusing dishes and push yourself to pick something you normally wouldn't. It may surprise and delight you! We did a wine tasting and cocktails with the standard 4 course meal. The food is super seasonal and changes often. Go for some of the dishes with fresh veggies. For instance we loved the tomato and moz. It was simple and in comparison to other dishes we tried in the surface boring and yet it was one of the tastiest things we ate. My one small gripe would be that their dishes can become repetitive. I understand they are using fresh Ingredients from farms which in turn dictates their dishes but I had fresh peas in three of my four dishes which seemed a bit ridiculous especially since they were prepared the same way in each dish. My husband and I just had dinner here and it was not good! Food was tasteless and barely warm! Halibut had to be sent back because it was not done and rubbery! Husband had the lamb and it was shredded and made into a patty and then seared! He usually loves lamb but couldn't finish it! Chocolate desert was grainy and crème brûlée was runny and thin! Yelp said this place needed some more pictures so I happily obliged. Definitely worth it even if it is on the pricey spectrum it is a great way to celebrate Niagara On The Lake. Farm to table and a pre fix four course menu. We paid the extra for the wine pairing and the house sommelier came to our table for each course for a really great pairing and description of the wine selections. Because me and my wife both got separate entrees the wine was different for each of. In total we sampled 8 different wines ranging from fantastic local selections to European. The food was fantastic, I stopped photographing after the first course (sorry my stomach and the ambiance took over). Suffice it to say we thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this memorable evening. Stopped by for lunch. A very nice little restaurant tucked near the center of the main street. The cheeseburger was excellent. The burger patty was handmade, succulent and full of flavor. The bread and accompanying fries were perfect. The meal was just dripping with flavor. The lobster club was good but I think it could be better. The bacon overpowered the lobster flavor. I was with a group and we stopped in with no reservation and they were gracious enough to immediately seat us. I had the Risotto and when they say Farm to Table - they meant it. This is one of the better restaurants in town. They specialize in fresh farm-to-table ingredients and it shows. Nice wines and the lobster club cooked with duck fat was great. The only issue was for the steak, they don't seem to have a proper high heat boiler to get that nice charred crust - seemed like it was just pan seared. Decided to try this place during our Niagara trip, after getting multiple recommendations from the locals. After failing to secure a table for dinner we were more successful for the following day's lunch. It was certainly worth the second try. The service was wonderful. Everyone was incredibly polite and hospitable. The staff foud a way to constantly be available without making us feel crowded. The food took a little longer to serve than we had anticipated. I had to remind myself that this is not a fast food joint and good things are worth waiting for. We shared Chardonnay steamed P.E.I. mussles, gnocchi and a soup sandwich combo. Treadwell ascribes to the farm-to-table philosophy and tries to use fresh local ingredients. You can really taste the quality. The short-rib sandwich was my absolute favorite. As I am typing this review (hours later), the memory of the tender melt-in-your mouth beef topped with fresh veggies served on a perfectly toasted sourdough bread still makes me salivate. The gnocchi was rich and tasty. It was served with blue cheese and wild mushrooms and had a rich homey taste to it. The mussels were tender and a little sweet and came with a fennell pollen cream which was so addictively delicious, that I briefly considered eating it with the spoon when we ran out of toast to dip in it. On the back of the menu, they list their suppliers along with a brief description and their contact information. In case you are wondering which businesses you are supporting with your patronage. We decided to come to Niagara-on-the-Lake to see a play, so I figured I should take advantage of the opportunity by eating at a well-regarded restaurant. Treadwells seemed to rank at the top of the list of must-try joints, so I booked a reservation for a Saturday night and we were off to the races. We showed up right on time and were immediately shown to an excellent table right at the front of the restaurant. Our extremely friendly server showed up and described the specials. I wasn't sure walking in which starter I wanted, so the Foie Gras special seemed like a no-brainer. It was amazing. I don't think I've ever eaten such a large chunk of Foie Gras before, and it was prepared perfectly. It sat atop some kind of toast and was accompanied by specially-cooked clementines. The whole dish was absolutely delicious. For my main, I went with the "Roasted 'VG Meats' Beef Striploin (Served Medium Rare) with Truffled Potato Rosti, Wild Mushrooms, Red Wine Jus, Shaved Summer Truffle." I didn't think it was possible to top that Foie Gras starter, but this concoction pretty much did the trick. Everything here works so well together, from the soft, perfectly-cooked meat to the variety of earthy mushrooms to the tasty rosti to the red wine jus. The components are all amazing individually, but the dish really sings when everything's eaten together. Finally, we decided to share the Creme Brulee for dessert. And surprise, surprise, it was amazing. The hardened caramelized sugar topping was perfectly done, while the custard base was rich and creamy. I especially like the scallop and salmon, as well as the s'more with dark chocolate. The restaurant isn't too big but has a really nice atmosphere. The staffs are nice and attentive. Would recommend to come visit this restaurant but it'd be good to make reservation ahead because they could get busy especially on weekends. Finding the restaurant is a little bit of a challenge as you have to walk down several steps to the back of the hotel, it's on the left-hand side. Food. Hands-down, the best bruschetta I've ever had in my life. Everything was perfect. Well done to this limited but well-made menu.
